This Marooned track - in my opinion - shows how irresponsible and pompous humanity can be. On the one hand we are able to fly into space and send sophisticated objects outside the solar system and on the other hand we behave terribly irresponsibly at home (on Earth) and are able to destroy our planet with modern technology (see Chernobyl - Pripyat).
Pink Floyd have always made music that has something to give to every person with common sense. Not only the sound content and not only the lyrical content, but the combination of both together often gives some message or at least a reflection. That's what Pink Floyd have always been brilliant at. They evoke emotions and make you think. And that's not at all obvious in today's music. The lyrics are stunningly shallow and say nothing, the music is machine-like and impersonal. That's why Pink Floyd has been my favourite band for almost fifty years.

This song has a great atmosphere. If you close your eyes during this song, you can imagine being stuck on a space station alone. Marooned. Pink Floyd won a Grammy for this song as best instrumental of 1994. The last half of the song is showing you Chernobyl before and after the meltdown of the nuclear plant.

Because it takes me back to my first listen. 50 years ago or so. Your "reactions" are sweet and respectful. Don't worry about not finding the right words. Your facial expressions are better than words. I'm looking forward to much more. Thank you.

This is another truly remarkable piece by Pink Floyd that takes you to another place, another feeling, another dimension. And you guys get it perfectly! And that;s why I'll always come back to your reviews. No guitarist can move your emotions with a few notes the way David does.

Don't fight it, don't be frightened of how it makes you feel, just surrender to it and let it fill you. The most beautiful things bring tears to the eyes, sometimes crying is good. I understand about feeling like you want to listen to it alone. Although I enjoy PF in many contexts, I like it best when I have some solitude, maybe just lying on the couch with my eyes closed, or going for a long walk in the woods. Then I can let it carry me far, far away - and deep inside. Shine On!

The second half of the video was filmed in Pripyat, a town of just under 50,000 that was evacuated overnight due to the Chernobyl accident is why everything looks like it was just left there, which it was! If you're from Romania or Poland then you possibly know about where pripyat is? Of course I could be completely wrong!!!

I think that it is good, that are things in this world……that there are no words for. That we can feel things that are beyond description. I like a comment someone made in another PF reaction….they said, David Gilmore plays with “space” in his solos. Most guitar solos are frantic and busy. They bombard you with high levels of sound and noise, but David plays beautiful notes…..and then gives you space to appreciate them. I love it.

Dave said that Rick ( Keys ) came to his houseboat studio on the Thames and record must of this one on one day. People asking for "Echoes" at Gdansk but it's longer than 15 minutes, It actually a 2 part song. 1st is about humanity anti-empathy. then there is a part that means the new beginning , 2nd half is a reborn of humanity having empathy so the world can survive. there's an article about this song and the images from the video, specifically that swimming pool. I guess the song tries to put you on the mood along with this video on the vanity of life.
