This may be the most hauntingly beautiful song I've ever heard
The Live in Gdansk version with complete Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra is another level. And...David's outro solo with classical guitar is sublime. A real tearjerker. 😢

The pauses between the notes are more important than the notes themselves. This is particularly noticeable in this track
It's amazing how many musical instruments David Gilmour can play which is electric guitar, acoustic guitar, ,bass guitar keyboards, banjo, lap steel guitar ,mandolin, harmonica, drums and saxophone!
Such a timeless number, no matter what version David Gilmour or Pink Floyd play it in, so incredible, so hunting, so perfect ❤️⭐️

On piano and english horn was the late Michael Kamen. He was a famous film composer and the lady on cello is Caroline Dale is a famous English classical musician. You must do LIVE in Gdansk with full orchestra. Solos are incredible.
Also worth mentioning the choral group, with Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine and Durga McBroom - all from the Pulse concert.
He was working on The wall album, but first time when I saw his genius was music from Lethal Weapon 2.

I was at this show, it was amazing. This is a great song that sounds good in all the different versions.
Robert Wyatt curated this and other acoustic orchestral concerts. He was previously the drummer with Soft Machine and Matching Mole, two early 70s avant garde bands formed in Canterbury England. Unfortunately he fell from a window which left him paraplegic. He carried on making music but retired a little while ago.
This version reflects David's age. As he has aged the versions have become more melancholy, more sadly reflective of the youthful years long ago left behind. The viola and oboe added a whole new and more poignant dimension to the song.
The only High Hopes version you are missing to complete the repertoire is the Gdansk concert. The Pompeii version of High Hopes is unbelievable, but, I am still partial to the Gdansk performance. Recall he has the BPO bscking him at the Gdansk performance. Additionally, the classical outro solo in the Gdansk show is angelic.
The Gdańsk live version is my favourite because of the full orchestra and guitar solo at the end and is the one I listen to regularly.
Gilmour beyond his musicianship has a keen understanding of composition and arrangement, he is a master at the use of the backing singers and orchestrating them.
I saw this concert in Paris.. The best evening of my enter life...

Great, that you appreciate this track so much as i do! Love it, that you check out all Versions🤩 I saw this version very often, but this time i saw the first time Michael Kamen on Piano and Oboe. Due to the cirumstance that he died in 2003 and was a great composer, this Version is more precious
Like many others suggested, you have yet to hear the best version of this song, live in Gdansk. Orchestra, amazing guitar by David, and of course, Rick Wright on the keyboards ❤️ even if you don't want another reaction on this channel, do yourself a favor, and listen to it 🙂

Creative liberties! The addition of the cello makes this version more mellow. In the "Live at Pompeii 2016" version, David adds a much longer acoustic guitar solo at the end of the song.
I think that this is the best arrangement of this song.

I'm sure you'd like to hear and see Remember That Night is a live recording of Davis Gilmour's shows at the Royal Albert Hall on 29th, 30th and 31st May 2006 as part of his On an Island tour. The title was taken from a verse in the song "On an Island". There are several of Gilmour's guests who perform songs by Pink Floyd and David Gilmour. A great concert.

The pianist was Michael Kamen, a conductor and arranger who worked with Pink Floyd, Metallica, the Who, Led Zep, and others on numerous songs.

I suggest you watch David doing Sonnet 18. It was a special feature on this DVD and it is absolutely beautiful. I don’t think anyone has reacted to it yet. It will bring tears to your eyes.

Shine on You Crazy Diamond is another one you should revisit. Either version from Delicate Sound of Thunder or Pulse is excellent. Then follow it up with the version from Remember That Night. This is another "stripped down" arrangement that is exquisite.

The encore of Comfortably Numb - with very special guest - at the end this concert is well worth watching.

it's nice to see a cut down version of the songs to a more intimate expression of the song, it's totally different experience to major concerts. it's beautiful. but i love both versions of the songs

Nice version of the song, more of a classical feel to it with the string and reed ( ? Bassoon) instruments. What’s amazing is he’s surrounded by all these amazing well dressed talented musicians but he’s so humbling and plays in a T-shirt and jeans. He is a master guitarist and musician.

Such a beautiful song! The outro is brilliant with the accordion, which takes it to another level, IMHO!!
You need need react to the High Hopes version from Fleesh...(a duo band prog covers) ❤ and you need react to David Bowie and Gilmour together!!

While the Pulse Version is „epic“, this version is more „intimate“. And it’s also slower and more laid back. While on Pulse the switches the accoustic guitar immediately to the steel lap, in this version he takes a full 16 bars to change the setup. The only „problem“ I have is that the tune of the bell is an octave too high. I prefer the larger, darker bell in the Pulse version. It‘s more haunting, in my opinion.
