First saw Floyd live when I was 15 in 1977. In a big ass stadium that is no longer standing. In another stadium in 1988 and 1994 with the largest crowds they ever played in front of in North America. Life altering events they were. Gorgeous weather everytime. Plus a handful of arena performances over the years. No band ever effected me like they did. Saw Roger Waters and also Nick Mason last year. I will keep going as long as they do.
Sometimes you just like a guy because they'll show they knows what's most important. Amen! Billy Gibbons too- it would be fun to sit around and have those two pick squeal us into some sort of harmonic(s) nirvana.
Imagine Dave jammin with Victor Wooten (if you haven't heard him playing Amazing Grace, it is a must see, playing harmonics and melody at the same time on a bass).
I'm so sorry you missed all this first hand. All of us there when PF was releasing albums took it for granted, because we were young. We had no idea that we were experiencing the best rock music ever created. We just knew that we loved it.
And not just PF either... all of the great musicians from the '60s to the '80s just kept putting out innovative and creative sounds at a frantic pace. Like you said, it's just the way it was and we took it for granted. Only in retrospect can we wonder if all those artists decided to be born during that time to inject the world with a musical explosion that has now since faded. The young people say I don't give their music enough of a chance. So I really try to listen to it and it just doesn't compare. Not even close. What they don't realize is that when you've grown up with the best music, everything else is just auto-tuned monotonous noise by comparison. Sort of like living in a world of colour and suddenly being thrust into B&W. I often wonder if the colour will ever return...
@@islandseeker1260 The music industry has changed completely, with much more of a focus on individuals than on bands. Remember when you had to sit in your car in the driveway because the tracks on the radio were actually 6-7 minutes long and so good you couldn't shut off the engine? There are, however, some notable exceptions to the general mediocre music produced today. If you don't know her, check out Angelina Jordan -- believe me, no autotune required. Also, Aurora is exceptional.
When I saw them live, I got in line outside the store at 3:00 AM to get tickets. Was first in line, got 7th row center stage. I knew I was seeing something special. I got tickets for both days at the Sliverdome. One of the days was a very rare concert where they played the dark side in its entirety in one concert. It was not a concert, it was a spiritual event.
Best concert story ever or close. Good for you. I got similar seats to Rush in Portland Rose Quarter venue/stadium - I forget what they called it :) Seats isn't so accurate either, because they were stools to stand on from the start. Seems living your best life involves getting into places you can live a best life. Like up front seventh row. Where you might catch a drumstick from Neil Peart. That kind of thing.
@@arightscepter When I saw Rush for the first time live back in HS (Hold Your Fire tour I believe, at least that was the album being promoted at the time with Amy Mann guesting on Time Stand Still), the venue I saw them at was standing room only. I somehow managed to be fast enough to get literally front stage left (nearly right in front of Alex). I was getting pressed up against the solid barrier for much of the show which was uncomfortable, but getting one of Alex's picks made it worth it. I suspect it was due to the design of the album cover, but Alex was using those little disks from disk guns as a pick and it was red just like the shapes on the album cover. I have in my safe deposit box with my Ricky Henderson and Emmitt Smith rookie cards to this day.
Right in the same place where the Hulkster lifted that dirty giant high over his head and slammed him down onto the mat in front of 93,000 Hulkamaniacs? Lol
I've heard this music for many years and it still brings tears to my eyes. My only hope is that I pass before David does because that will be a very rough time for me, he is that important to me and my life experience.
Mio caro hai scritto una cosa MERAVIGLIOSA .......lasciamo andare il corso della vita così come deve essere ma ti assicuro che il giorno in cui lo Zio DAVID venisse a mancare , la mia sarà una sofferenza da crepacuore . ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
To be able to play electric guitar like David Gilmour is a gift from God, as is this song. Yes, David can lift an entire stadiums hearts way, way up there with his solos and we wish they would go on forever. Pure musical joy! 🎸💖🎸
You don't listen to Floyd's music, you Experience it. Been a Floydian since the early 70's (Dark Side) and have seen them multiple times. ALWAYS a great show.
Im an older guy and heard a interview w David's wife. She said he was never emotional, but after hearing him play, she would know exactly how to react "emotionally ".
Gilmour rocks those strings every time ! And yes, you should put your headset on and close your eyes on most of Pink Floyd Music ! It is just how it is ! Love the experience over the music ! (IF YOU CAN) ! lol
I saw Pink Floyd 3 times in the 70’s. It was 3 of over 300 concerts I have attended thus far. I am 71 now and an extreme audiofile. My first concert at 15 was Jimi Hendrix. No one plays better than David Gilmour and Pink Floyd. They are my number 4 after The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Moody Blues.
Nice to see you back doing Pink Floyd. Another great song from this same Delicate Sound Of Thunder concert film is Dogs Of War. It's an overlooked gem that you should definitely check out sometime.
David knew every note before he brought this to life. Just like so many other greats . You know a treat for the ears is about to happen. All of PINK FLOYD'S cast brings an experience others just can't touch . Gifted all.
"He had long hair?! My darling, we all had long hair back then!🤣🤣 I love this song and version, its wonderful, heart-breaking uplifting and moving. When those three angels starting singing it gives me chills on top of the chills from the guitar!
Hello, I was 14 Years old i heard Pink Floyd for the first Time. Now I am 65 and its the same feeling and the same Tears are coming. It is so wonderful what David can do. Greetings from Germany.
WE were given much more than we deserved over the course of our teenage years and the music was the backdrop to a life of joy and peace. We wanted for nothing in our middle class English world, a world now just a beautiful memory. For me there is no higher art form than music and Pink Floyd was one of the pinnacles of the art at that time. This is timeless, like Beethoven or Bach, and when we are just cosmic dust the "echoes" of a distant time will still come billowing across the land.
For something a little different from Pink Floyd, I recommend you watch "Wearing the Inside Out" live version. This is one of the few songs where Richard Wright is lead vocals. It's a wonderful song.
This beautiful music is now 50 years old - at the beginning of electrification of the sound of music. They were as good LIVE as in the studio - iI had tickets to the 1994 tour - priceless! Call it modern Classical if you like, doesn't matter as it's tieless!!!!
Like all the greats, he and the guitar are ONE. They reach down deep into your soul. David's hair used to be 3x as long as it was here. Loved your reaction!
It is nice to see a new generation of listeners discovering Pink Floyd. I enjoy your reactions a lot. When you finally decide to listen to an entire album from start to finish, it will be another experience and the songs will sound so much better..
I must have listened to this song a thousand times through many different emotions happy sad drunk sober and everything in-between and every time it's like listening to it for the first time nick mason on the drums and Dave Gillmore with his singing and the way he makes that electric guitar sing those cords a true master of his art how many rock musicians come and people say they will never be forgotten and then they are pink Floyd are one of those that will be remembered for decades to come with new generations enjoying them
This song ALWAYS makes me cry... the music, but even more the lyrics. Today's world HAS turned away- from the weak and the weary...and even the planet.

I was extremely fortunate to see them twice on tours. They are a music genre all by themselves. There won’t be another like them. One of my Top 5 guitarists, too.
I am so glad to have been alive at the same time when Pink Floyd where still together to have exsperenced they're music live was a privilege one I will never forget each member of the ban are masters in they're own field and they're music is still very much relevant to this day, ....Real Musicians Right Down To The Bone....

David Gilmour has a connection between his heart and his guitar. It is nice that you can feel Pink Floyd's music.
I was at Concert at Palace of Auburn Hills, there speakers Everywhere! Not to be loud, to be soft but audible! The gentle sound of thunder! And Amazing Laser shows during concert!
Sometimes I think the Matrix has me. I heard this song for the first time in probably 30 years on the SiriusXM 80's channel last night. And today, the RUclips algorithm shows me this. Can't decide if I'm glad or creeped out. Thanks for checking out this song. It's a great one.
i saw this live many years ago and i got to tell you there is no rational way to describe the concert,,it was truely "OUT OF THIS WORLD",Something i will never forget
I have been watching Pink Floyd since 1965. The way the evolved after the loss of Syd is outstanding. They can just rip your heart out or soar your soul to ecstasy. That’s in one song. Best band I have ever heard in nearly 60 years.
Its a song that talks about recognizing that it is not enough to just accept, but to actually accept someone for every element of them. And instead of finding stuff to divide, we look for similarity. Like David says "Is It Only A Dream That There'll Be No More Turning Away?"
Good news for alll David Gilmour fans, a new album due in September. Of course he will tour to promote it, starting with i think 6 nights at The Royal Albert hall in london. in October, ( maybe 9 nights due to demand) he had another concert there about 8 years ago which was his usual excellence
When my manager - a truly awesome guy - passed away from cancer, I absolutely thrashed the Pulse version of Sorrow both ways on my daily commute and kept doing it for a long time. The sheer amount of anguish conveyed by that track is incredible.
Love your reaction. I was very fortunate to see them at camp randall in Madison wi. To this day no concert ive been to comes close. I would recommend One of these Days, Shine on you crazy diamond, Another brick in the wall, and Run like Hell. From the Pulse concert. Im pretty sure this is from the momentary lapse of reason tour from 1987 or 1988.
The background singers were so beautiful and had great voices. The guitar solo was the second-best of all-time, behind "Comfortably Numb." This is truly a great song and performance. I listen to it about 1-2 times/week, to calm me down from work, and to sit back and enjoy.
If you can watch and listen to Pink Floyd and not feel something, you are most likely dead and haven't realized it yet.
Your spirit has left your body.
Fact ‼️
Yes, I’ve been saying the same thing for 50 years now 😊
First saw Floyd live when I was 15 in 1977. In a big ass stadium that is no longer standing. In another stadium in 1988 and 1994 with the largest crowds they ever played in front of in North America. Yeh. Sitting in the departure lounge waiting for the big gig in the sky...🇦🇺
"What is it with this music, it's just so captivating?" It's Pink Floyd, it's kind of what they do.
There is no one else who plays guitar like David Gilmour. Just stunning.
THE BEST!!!
Just the best, 73 years old and still enjoying the great music.
Just pipped you son,77 years and still marvel at the brilliance and captivating floyd!!
Keep going man
Moi j'ai 76 ans et je l'ecoute presque tout le temp de repos😊
I'm 76 and I still crank it up
David is 78
No one can play harmonics like David. I've been trying for 50 years! The man is a genius.
Sometimes you just like a guy because they'll show they knows what's most important. Amen!
Billy Gibbons too- it would be fun to sit around and have those two pick squeal us into some sort of harmonic(s) nirvana.

Try Tommy Emmanuel playing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
Only one that comes close in my opinion is Steve Rothery from Marillion. Very Gilmore-esque. Makes my hair stand on end listening to either of them.

David makes his guitar cry and I cry right along with it!

the key is Rick Wright - find some pictures of DG with hair from the Pompeii era and - RIP Claudia Fontaine
Absolut rig😢ht!!! Rick was the Soul of PF. R.I.P.
Absolutely! Rick builds up the ambience. And when the others are in the spotlights, you still can see, feel, hear that Rick's their "lifeline".
Pink Floyd is what Music has always wanted to be.
RIP Richard and Claudia. The official video of this song tells the whole story. Pink Floyd have always helped me when I've been down.
I've heard this music for many years and it still brings tears to my eyes. My only hope is that I pass before David does because that will be a very rough time for me, he is that important to me and my life experience.

I relate to that.
Me, too. Much love
DITO
I had the same thought this week.. it would crush me.
Watch the whole PULSE concert on your own. Start to finish will change your life forever girl!
I've always liked David Gilmour's lighthearted little quip after they played the ENTIRE Dark Side of the Moon: "Takes you back dunnit?"
It’s always amazing to see someone smile when David Gilmour starts to sing a song. He just has that voice .
To find a young person that truley appreciate the greatness of Pink Floyd, is very special. Pink Floyd is eternal!
This song still gives me chills after all this time. Definitely one of my favorites.
To be able to play electric guitar like David Gilmour is a gift from God, as is this song. Yes, David can lift an entire stadiums hearts way, way up there with his solos and we wish they would go on forever. Pure musical joy! 🎸💖🎸
It’s not a gift from god, is a gift from David😊
Yes, David sings with his guitar as much as his voice. He can make you feel every emotion in just a few bars with it.
All this music from my youth makes me emotional every time I hear it.
So fantastic to find someone who appreciates the magic of David Gilmore and Pink Floyd. Thank you.
David can take you from being sad to almost hope on his guitar he has this wonderful gift
Pulse was brilliant. Delicate sound of thunder was absolutely life changing.
You don't listen to Floyd's music, you Experience it. Been a Floydian since the early 70's (Dark Side) and have seen them multiple times. ALWAYS a great show.
Genius stage craft and performances, always liked the the synergy with the ladies in the chorus belting out the lyrics!

I was at that concert in May of 1994. Imagine having that feeling throughout the entire show. I did.
So did I, i was at the first one when the stand collapsed.
Was absolutely gutted but we got to at the pulse recording, happy days ❤

David is one of those few rare gems who can mesmerise you both by his singing as well as by his guitar playing!!
My God.... Why am I reduced to tears by so many of their songs? There is something deeper here than you might think at first glance.
@3:06..."He had long hair?" Silly Janet...you saw David with really long hair on the Echoes @Pompeii video!
that was 70s long hair. This is 80s long hair!
Nice to see you back doing Pink Floyd. Another great song from this same Delicate Sound Of Thunder concert film is Dogs Of War. It's an overlooked gem that you should definitely check out sometime.
I totally agree with you on this. I saw it live and it was incredible. Very underrated song.

Always plays the right note. Every time.
The camera work on this should have won an Oscar

This song saved my mind not to break in the war.I always listen to it in lonely nights!!
David Gilmore is a f**king surgeon with his instrument. He reaches into your chest and gives your heart a gentle squeeze!
Gilmour you clown
No one can touch this band.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Agreed
unbelievable performance - next recommendation: any / all pink floyd songs!
You seem to understand how great they are, you feel it, now you will never be the same.

And then most of it falls out! Been there, done that, ha, ha, ha!
Watching you react is all this video needs. U R displaying what we all felt when we heard this song live.

When you finally decide to listen to an entire album from start to finish, it will be another experience and the songs will sound so much better..

I love watching your reactions. You’re like me in that you don’t just hear this music you feel it.
His guitar is singing to your soul, not just playing. That is why it is hard to explain how you feel because it is registered on a subconscious level.
When music was created, not just played. The words, the rythym, the composition, every part deliberate and set to evoke an emotion. It is the difference between a simple jam session and a masterpiece composition.
If Pink Floyd had never existed, the world would be a much darker place.
ETA: I think we need not worry about their stage presence. :)
I saw this concert live. The vocal choir part of this song brought tears to my eyes...
No one can make a guitar scream and cry, with so much pain, so much emotion. Gilmour is a god among men
I agree that sometimes voice and the guitar interchange in something that is simply magic.
This is one of the most important live perfrmances in music history.
I could watch and listen to this in an endless repeating loop.
Sometimes I cant sleep, because my brain plays the guitar solo on an on...
The exceptional lead and the haunting words of David Gilmour make this such a favorite ...never want it to end...
David is one of the most ethereal artists I have ever had the pleasure to watch. He is just transcendent in every way.
Love your reactions: emotional but subdued, minimalistic but heartfelt and down to the point... all with a delicate whiff of femininity that makes them all the more enjoyable.
I love how you Feel the music and don't keep stopping it to talk about it.
I was extremely fortunate to see them twice on tours. They are a music genre all by themselves. There won’t be another like them. One of my Top 5 guitarists, too.
What a beautiful heart felt comment from a beautiful lady
Led Zeppelin mastered stage presence.
Saw Floyd twice.. still not over it...dosed majorly 😊

Twas just great going to a Pink Floyd concert. Their live sound was always equal to, if not better, than their studio versions. Amazing.
I was at Concert at Palace of Auburn Hills, there speakers Everywhere! Not to be loud, to be soft but audible! The gentle sound of thunder! And Amazing Laser shows during concert!
Im 49 this year my mum and dad loved floyd this is my music but only now do i release the lyrics wow ❤
Those are the best three backup singers to ever sing for Pink Floyd. Rachel Fury, Durga McBroom and Margaret Taylor.
THANK YOU the confident singer! thaaaaanks to you for this divine moment! teddy, from France.
Sometimes I think the Matrix has me. I heard this song for the first time in probably 30 years on the SiriusXM 80's channel last night. And today, the RUclips algorithm shows me this. Can't decide if I'm glad or creeped out. Thanks for checking out this song. It's a great one.
I always feel this song comes across like an anthem. So, so strong!
I love your reactions to Pink Floyd. They do the same thing to me even after listening to them for 50+ years. Still get goosebumps.
"He had long hair.?" EVERYONE had long hair back in the 80's 😂😂😂
Great reaction to a great song.
Margaret Taylor's voice soaring to the heavens was just stunning, live.
i saw this live many years ago and i got to tell you there is no rational way to describe the concert,,it was truely "OUT OF THIS WORLD",Something i will never forget
Saw them 4 times, David Gilmour is my favorite guitarist great singer too
I have been watching Pink Floyd since 1965. The way the evolved after the loss of Syd is outstanding. They can just rip your heart out or soar your soul to ecstasy. That’s in one song. Best band I have ever heard in nearly 60 years.
I LOVE this DVD..Delicate sound of thunder. If you love David you gotta get it!
Its a song that talks about recognizing that it is not enough to just accept, but to actually accept someone for every element of them. And instead of finding stuff to divide, we look for similarity. Like David says "Is It Only A Dream That There'll Be No More Turning Away?"

Sorrow from pulse concert or Keep Talking also from pulse concert. Great reaction
When my manager - a truly awesome guy - passed away from cancer, I absolutely thrashed the Pulse version of Sorrow both ways on my daily commute and kept doing it for a long time. The sheer amount of anguish conveyed by that track is incredible.
Your comments on the music and your facial expressions are very moving, and I loved them!
Pink Floyd music never gets old and every time I listen to their songs it feels like it’s the first time I’m hearing it.
love the way you take this in and process it. It's hitting you deep and it shows. Looking to see more of your vids.
I was there at Camp Randall. Unforgettable.
PF is the one and the only band in the planet that take you to another level of consciousness that turns in an addiction.
That look of concentration on David's face, you know he's putting in his best efforts for the audience,
The background singers were so beautiful and had great voices. The guitar solo was the second-best of all-time, behind "Comfortably Numb." This is truly a great song and performance. I listen to it about 1-2 times/week, to calm me down from work, and to sit back and enjoy.
Margaret Taylor! You get me with the chills every time I watch this video.
You brought up a really great observation about David and his guitar playing. Not only does David sing, but his guitar carries on the singing also.
I easily put this solo right beside comfortably numb . This one is so underrated
I like both of them but this one is definitely my favourite!
