Never pause a David Gilmour solo a unforgiven sin!

One of Gilmour's most beautiful solos, and the lyrics are as relevant today as they were when written. Rick's keyboard and the backing singers elevated it to the stratosphere. Just wonderful.

Ha! MEEE TOOO! I waited in line for HOURS to get tickets each time! 1989… maybe 1988 - ha no matter it was (every time) amazazazazzzing! Pink Floyd is a foundation of my life’s soundtrack! I’m actually time traveling back to a moment (in the high seats) but blown away by the lasers the pig flying through the stadium and FEEELING every beautiful moment!
RIP to my beautiful, friend Leland! A very shy and quiet guy with red hair (yes, a mulllet) I was a super talkative (annoying) girl that sat next to him in science our sophomore year - he finally relented and we became the VERY BEST IF FRIENDS! Haha I didn’t know I annoyed him so much until way later! We drove to San Francisco and had the BEST NIGHT EVER! He improved my u turn and I taught him (hilarious) how to remember that Wednesday had a d in it!
So cool how the tiny moments that seem so insignificant become the gems 💎 we carry… and it’s the music that threads all of them into a warm blanket… if I could make a quilt of these… ahhhhh… (ok a completely different quilt from watching “the wall” at the midnight movies-- only the “old “ people know what I’m talking bout…
We maybe “old” … but sooo young as we listen … maybe that’s just me? 🤷‍♀️ idk 🥰

@@Soibottleditup that was the craziest time... you'd wait for many hours, or camp out over night, get your tickets, and learn the show had sold out in an hour. but it was such a part of the experience, hanging out with people with the same taste in music, seeing them again at the concert... those were really good days...

I saw them at the Carrier Dome on the tour. It was not "easy" to get tix, but it was not as bad as some other posters describe.

    • @mspicer3262
      @mspicer3262 3 месяца назад

@@johnmorgan7262 it really depended on the venue. I saw them at the CNE a couple of times, and as I recall, tickets were gone in 57 minutes for one of the shows. Me and three friends camped out on the sidewalk, with about 200 other people, in front of Sam the Record Man downtown, which is where Ticketmaster was.
For a show in Detroit, a friend camped out, was in the middle of the line to get in to Ticketmaster the next day, and was the last person to get tickets there.

I was at the Earl's Court Pulse concert and you are exactly right, I kept looking around at the crowd and it was amazing, people weren't jumping about cheering instead they were just sat there staring at the stage trying to take it all in like they were transfixed. The entire concert, it was just unreal, surreal. Sadly they didn't do this song at Pulse, it's one of my favourites and I would have loved to hear it live.

I saw this concert at Ohio State back in 1988. I saw the Pulse Tour 17 times in America and in London. They went on tour in 1994 just as I was getting out of the Navy. I heard The Division Bell Live for the first time in Concert in Houston. I bought the CD the next day and played in while driving across the country following Floyd. That CD is in my car CD changer in the car today.
Edit: The last time I saw Richard Wright and David Gilmour play live together was in was in 2006 in Gdansk Poland. Once I heard that Rick passed away, I knew right then I would never hear my favorite song played live again…Echoes.

I saw this tour in Providence, RI in 1987 and then twice in 1988 in Foxboro, MA on the stadium leg of the tour. Also saw them twice on the Pulse tour again in Foxboro in 1996. The show was beyond belief for that era and still a benchmark for all live shows to aspire to being. I've seen hundreds and hundreds of concerts over my 57 years and there are very few show I have gone to that have left such a strong lasting memory as those nights, especially the stadium shows. I can still picture the lights cutting through the fog on one night and the echo behind me sitting in the opposite end zone as the sound carried through the parking lot.(I had close seats the first night, I chose to be in the end zone the second night just to take in the entire spectacle of all the lights) The fact that was 30 years ago and these videos bring back those memories speaks to how special those concerts were. Funny thing is I can't remember what I had for breakfast two days ago but I can remember those details.

I may have been at this show. They filmed multiple nights at the Nassau Colosseum. I attended one of them. I remember thinking that, even if I was deaf, it was still worth the price of admission.
I think it’s time to react to the NY based band Dream Theater, and their Juilliard trained keyboardist Jordan Rudess. The drummer, bassist and guitarist are Long Island guys who formed the band at Berkeley in Boston. The singer is a Canuck with some operatic training. Live performances from Radio City, Boston Opera House, or Tokyo’s Budokan are your best options. “Breaking All Illusions” in Boston is a fave. “In the Name of God” in Tokyo is very good. “Metropolis- Part 1” in NYC, accompanied by Orchestra, is also very good. Enjoy.

I recommend that you also listen to Echoes (parts I and II), by Pink Floyd. This song is an incredible experience. The song's riff is a classic.

Pink Floyd in concert is the best. I saw them on the Division Bell tour where they played the entire Dark Side of the Moon back before the internet and you get there and go “Holy shit they’re going to play the entire thing!” Flying pigs, laser lights, crashing planes. Epic.

Twice in Toronto, just across the pond from Rochester, NY.
Maggie, the thing about watching live performances "to see how the sounds are made", is you have to have your eyes OPEN! No reaction whatsoever to my favorite vocal moment of the song, occurring at both 10:11, and also at 11:01, watching your mind's eye😊

Forget the videos for now. Purchase the 50th Anniversary box set of Dark Side of the Moon. It rains about $300-$350. Once you have read the books and and seen everything in the box set, only then will you truly start to understand Pink Floyd. It's a must for everyone's collection. I was given it for Christmas.

So heartfelt and sadly awesome. Makes one with anykind of good soul think a bit. Masterclass as always. All the in betweens that David does is gold to your ears. Solid gold. Great job reacting.

Pink Floyd, Montreal Olympic Stadium on July 6, 1977.
After two encore songs, the crowd kept asking for more, to the point that even though the white lights of the stadium were on, the crowd kept asking for more.
Despite most of the crowd staying to see the band do the "Drift Away Blues" number while roadies get the equipment out,
(apparently Nick Mason was HILARIOUS since at the end he basically had nothing but his seat and one of his drums).

Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite Pink Floyd concert videos! I love the guitar solo in this song; it's so emotive! While I never got to see Pink Floyd live, I did see David Gilmour (the singer/guitarist) on his 2016 tour for his solo album, 'Rattle That Lock', when it came through Chicago. It was thrilling and the guitar solos were epic (of course!). I had only become a fan of Pink Floyd the year prior, so I was thrilled that I got to see David Gilmour in concert. He did a mix of his solo songs along with Pink Floyd classics. He only seems to tour about once per decade (prior to 'Rattle That Lock', his previous solo album came out about 10 years before that). He is apparently working on a new solo album; I hope he will tour it, as I'd love to see him in concert again.

Thank you Maggie. It’s kind of strange that Pink Floyd an in general rock music, is getting so much recognition for the younger generation. That’s thanks to you and others doing these reaction videos. During the 80’s and 90’s the world turned its back on rock it was disco, rap and hip hop. Rock was old and had had its day. It wasn’t mainstream. This particularly happened with in the UK.
I grew up on this stuff. Pink Floyd were amazing live the music took your soul/spirit on a journey, your u would have it.
    Thank you again
    God bless
    John
