    Actually, thanks to research by multiple devs in the PS Vita Scene, the top port actually appears to be connected to the SOC in much the same way as the USB MTP Port, thus hinting that it is based on a USB interface and simply has a propitiatory port shape. As such, it is certainly possible for it to both receive and send power to a second battery, connect to other devices, and many other things.

      Yep. Leonardo is right. Too bad it wouldn't even be reasonable that Sony would do that because the new PS Vita slim doesn't have the "mystery port" so it would be for a limited market and would turn down some sales for their newest PS Vita! :S

      It was supposed for a cable so you can play it on TV upscaled on 1080i.
      But for some reasen they did'nt like the idea and got replaced by the PS TV.
      When the PS Vita 2000 released, they removed the port along with the feature to upscale.

    New version of vita probably doesn't have that port cause the new vita is not a better vita but is a cheaper version, like ps3 fat that had 4 usb, card slots, ps2 retrocompatibility... The older vita has oled screen, better refining, is likely a fat model...

    That port was actually meant for hdmi out to tv.. it was cancelled because of profits were seen more in an extra vita tv box instead of a tv-out hdmi cable directly to the tv... Just as switch has done now, was what sort of had to be done with vita, but switch only has a docket option(except for 3rd party hardware for direct tv connection)

      +Cody Murphy Highly likely to be true that it does nothing but it being removed isn't really evidence of that however. The original PS1 had an extra port at the back that was removed from later systems and that port had uses. (it was removed at some point before the PS1 slim. Later fat models didn't have it)
      That port was used for accessories and one I had that was used in it was for hex editing (gameshark basically) but the other use which I imagine why it was removed is it made piracy much easier.

    • @DjStiv3
      @DjStiv3 11 лет назад

      its stupid and idiotic for the most part since you have the back touch and front touch so whats the point besides giving the r2 l2 is a decent idea but what about the r3 l3 you would still be using the touchpad for that you may as well get use to the current design i got use to it and for remote play im guessin noone here has seen it in action very much... once connect the ps4 recognizes it as a vita using remote play... so devs can put into place how the game will be played once its remote for call of duty for example you can set it up to play simlarly to black ops declassified and the touchpad is just the touch screen but in the upper left only a small portion is reserved for it

      DjStiv3
      yes that is another thing i can't understand why don't they have an r3 and l3 button in the triggers does it ruin the system? or is it an aesthetic problem? Are they afraid they could get damaged in a persons pocket or pouch? I personally would have preferred a controller with a screen but perhaps that to would pose a problem

    • @DjStiv3
      @DjStiv3 11 лет назад +1

      siiax7777
      yea i never understood why either but im sure bcz of its design it wud have posed a slight problem.. they wud be adding another layer beneath the sticks (if designed similar to the ps3 controller) it would have made it either fatter and bulkier for no reason or the sticks would have protruded farther out which wud be no good they could break or smething etc and with the inclusion of the back touchpad it made sense to do this and it has a touch screen for games to utilize what i do at least for psone games since you dont really use r3 l3 map the back touchpad to be completely r2 and 2 on both sides so you can touch it easier

    The main thing that is holding the Vita back is the lack of really great games on the system that make it sell units. Handhelds are great potential areas for a market that should be explored. Release some great games for the PS Vita only and not some ports and it'll probably sell a lot more. I remember that the PSP having GTA Liberty City and Vice City Stories, Socom Fireteam Bravo 1, 2, 3, MGS Peace Walker, God of War Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus, etc. You can play all those on the PS Vita, but honestly, there needs to be actual PS Vita games that make people want to play it, not just the old PSP games in my book.

    I like the vita a lot but I personally think it would be better with L3 and R3. Although it's too late for sony to implement it into the vita unless they create a redesigned version, but it would make for a better console like experience. Although L2 and R2 are a bit more important I suppose.

      @lrdalucardart 11 лет назад

      actualy, if u count the Read Toutch pad(not mentioning the fron screen= it has equivalent to 6 or 8buttons, u rly dont need a L2 or a L3 wen u nearly have a "touch L6".
      (For example, try Blaze Blue Extended, u will understand wht I mean, is free on Plus this month btw.)

    they announced a ps vita slim which doesnt have that accessory port i think.. but 2 yrs since vita phat released, no accessories were ever released for the accessory port.. initially it was believed that it could connect to a external umd drive.. however.. due to low ps vita sales.. it never turned into reality

  • @pspblows99

    wont be a battery. why? it would cover the back touch screen...
    i believe, in the directions at least, its for connecting another vita for local multiplayer.

    Its a port to give extra juice to run high graphics games. Like connecting an external graphics card. It might've been made so that it could connect to the PS4 and use the PS4's system to run its game. But they prolly realized that we can just stream the media then do it like that.

    Actually, Gameboy Color had at least one game that had built-in rumble...NASCAR Challenge was its name.
    ALSO, that "big ol' gap" at the front of the N64 controller was primarily for Memory Paks.

    If you still haven’t realized this port was for TV Out. But they decided to make the PS TV instead (the love of money...). Now you realize why they made their own memory card and put a copy-write on it.

    A HDMI like cable would be great. The vita itself is a complete console like other PlayStation. It just play different games, so Sony really should've make the cable that connect to the TV. I just don't understand why would Sony wanted to limited the vita's potential and functionality.

    oh i get it i get it,the mystery port is like a port which the sony will make a cable for it like the port will be used in the future and the cable is not yet developed and my theory with the port is that its where you can import PS VITA games using ur pc just exactly like the PSP's port but the cable is not yet developed or not yet made by sony i hope everyone gets what im saying

    Hey! Nice video! Happy new year! Btw, I don't think that this is just a simple external hardware connector. If you check both vita's and psp's motherboards, this connector goes directly to the processor! Thats strange, what is the purpose of connecting directly to the processor?
