- Join Ben as he looks back at the EU PlayStation Vita launch line up of games. The little handheld that should (have), Sony all but abandoned the Vita to die, but we'll never forget it, will we? Which games kicked it all off?
Thanks to Greg Miller of Kinda Funny for helping out with the intro sketch! A further big thank you to those of you who sent in Vita games during last year's tat appeal!

You guys are brilliant! Both of you could write and star in comedy for a living.
Also subscribing, this is the first video I've watched of yours, great work.
Thanks for having me! - Greg
The best!!!!!
F√cking OSCAR WORTHY
Don't forget Kevin and Barret cameo!
Greg sux
Love to see this cross over again on other projects
Greg Miller? On triple jump? Also loved my vita so much. Totally crippled by proprietary accessories.
Pride baby!!!
kidboy you don't even know wtf Greg Miller is you beta
that's so sony. they even pushed their dumb memory sticks on their cameras for the longest time, resulting in so much wasted potential. because at sony, they have potential to waste, and they want you, the user to know that.
@@Boogie_the_catBecause Sony pretty much invented modern optical discs which was what made PS1/2 (and 3 for later part) so popular. But their other proprietary garbage are nothing but trainwrecks
I got my Vita 10 years ago and still have it and still enjoying it, such an underrated system
didnt realize it was that old. i say give it time and there will be vita emulators popping up
@@mattalan6618 hacking a vita is extremely easy and can be done without a pc!
@@SonyEnthusiast im talking to be able to use on on PC like you can for the PSP SNES NES and other consoles like that
Never heard of it
Rated just fine because it wasn't a good system until the homebrew scene came along.
As a person who started his games journalism career with the Vita and still covers it, this brings me A LOT of joy.
journalism career? Where's that at? Cause it sure af isn't here on RUclips. Lmao I dont know how people call themselves ****tv *****studios ****incorporated when they have a measly 400 subscribers 😂 Sorry in your case that's a staggering 1k 😅 there are channels containing one 30 second short that has more subs than that. 😂😂

Ben could have made a serious living as a voice talent for big productions, but I hope he stays with this little, eternally underrated gaming channel!
Oh yeah! Here we go, playing all launch titles video time!
Uncharted and Killzone on the Vita were so good! Mine ended up gathering dust but it was so expensive with those memory cards.
Uncharted & Wipeout were my launch choices. Hot dayum that high impression of the Vita still lingers of what couldve been.
yup...imagine God of War vita ....grand turismo vita .... Sony really Missed Really hard with this system ngl ...still my favorite Handheld
Oh my lanta, that would've been something else entirely. Imagine what fortunes they could've had, if they kept investing into the best handheld we own & did what Nintendo did for 3DS. GT vita, my goodness man, only in my dreams. Owning both a Switch lite & PS Vita has shown me that at least for a couple years it could've easily co existed with Switch. They are much closer in performance than the Wii was to PS360 & that received ports of several big AAA games up to 2011.
I still use my Vita way more than my Switch. Tend to play the fan made ports of GTA classics over the "remastered" Switch ports. It's very sad that the community has brought more games/support & consistent releases now than Sony did after the first year.
I know the Vita holds a special place with you Ben and it shows with the depth of insight, meticulous care, and always on humour you put into this video! Well done to you and all who worked on it!
This video felt like a massive evolution of the series. I’d love to see other ranking vids done in this format. Awesome!
Love the launch line up videos. They really encapsulate the memories of owning that particular console at the time and if I wasn't there on launch its fun to see regardless.
Wow, that was an unexpected Greg Miller appearance. Great to see him on here!
gotta be tired from all that 🚲
OMG THAT INTRO. I swear Ben is the funniest guy the UK has ever produced, for real.
Easy now.
No offense, but Ben's not even the funniest British person *in this video*. (That honor goes to John Cleese.)
I love him, though! ;)
Robert Pearson (PlayStation Access) is the funniest person in the UK
AHAYAHAHAAHAHHHA I WENT INSANE LAUGHING
I’m just disappointed we never found out what he was one fart away from. 😑😑
I don’t think I should be surprised to see Greg here of all videos but I was. Love it!
Loved my Vita and this video is a treasure trove of nostalgic memories.
Also thank you ben for this series, it’s my favorite videos on the channel
In Little Deviant's defence, there are loads of other level types that weren't fun too, like a game controlled by the pitch of your voice.
Great list Ben! I love this series
Man, I used to listen to Podcast Beyond back in the day, having Greg represent the Vita was brilliant.
I bought a Vita about a month ago. 2023 is wild.
Welcome to the club! Enjoy!
if 2023 is wild cause you got a ps vita then you're definitely a basement dweller
@@ramrodbldm9876 it's almost as if the 'wild' was tongue-in-cheek.
I got one a month ago. And I'm LOVING it
35:50 well, i guess that blob is a rider on a mission
I was thinking about a new launch title episode the other day. Beyond!
I actually enjoyed most of the Vita feature mechanics in Golden Abyss. The only one that I found redundant was that plattforming could be done with controller or with the touchscreen. It wasn't something gamebreaking and was rather the only part where I thought "that's nice but I don't really need it". Everything else was between good and fantastic.
With each "Playing EVERY [CONSOLE NAME] Launch Game" video, we draw closer to the inevitable Gizmondo, where you'll get to play the first and last games for a console. Be a good bridge for a consoles final video series
appreciate the content, great series
Such a great series - would love to see every Game Pass game at the time ranked - or ps catalogue ranked etc
Hopefully Greg is a fan! You guys are amazing be nice to see hopefully see you get more exposure like you all deserve
My Vita still on holidays with me every year. Such an underrated console.
I'm digging the Danny Devito cutout lol.
Love the live action bits of this list! Was so fun!
38:25 aw no not roger craig smith
Love this series. Keep it up, Ben!
aw hell yea been waiting for this one
So is this the end of the “playing every launch game” series? All that’s left were the NES, Master System, Sega CD, Game Gear, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PS5, doing all those and then a ranking video of every console’s launch lineup would’ve been awesome, it’s right there.
31:17 "What's that sound?" 😆😆
41:57 I wasn't going to buy a shirt but then I saw this and had to oblige.
It’s awesome to see game preservation, so many titles I haven’t heard of before.
Wipeout was great, and replaying the same race for a better place did mitigate those long load times.
It was only long for loading a new mission/track.
Sony really dropped the ball with the Vita
Loved my Vita! Got drunk on a flight and left it on the plane
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
hoping we sign dingus later this summer & lure him away from newcastle during the transfer window, lad is an incredible young talent
Yeah dingus sure has talent
Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend, Rayman Origins, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!!!, Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition on Day One, the Vita's future looked so bright...
Great work Ben, well done!
The PlayStation Vita is easily my favourite console of all time, I will defend it til the end of the time, so overlooked and underrated it's unbelievable.
It got some love in the Last of Us: Part II.
hands down my favorite portable...after mods it's amazing 👏
YOU GOT GREG MILLER?!? How is that beautiful man? Holy crap.
Dungeon Hunter story has a bit of same elements as Medievil 1's.
Good on Greggy, nice to see him on tripleJ
You are a million percent right about the rolling part of Little Deviants. They're amazingly hard on the handheld as well. However, not all 30 challenges are that and the game actually becomes a lot of fun when the other challenges come up. It is too bad those first few rolling sections need to be completed to get the much better parts.
I hope Golden Abyss is going to get a proper remake eventually
The launch titles I grabbed were:
Rayman Origins
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
The list of official games released as homebrew continues to grow.
The Vita day one had mad games in all genres
My first two games for the Vita were ModNation Racers and Rayman Origins. I enjoyed my Vita for a while, there were just a number of things holding it back from greatness. Such as the major lack of marketing, the prices of things like the memory cards and the lack of support from a lot of developers. Makes me sad that it failed, cause it was a great little system.
I do love that Martin Tyler knows it's a computer game lol.
“I’m one fart away from a..” FROM A WHAT?!?!
Love these!
I appreciate that dig at Bloober Team and that you're on the right side of history (aka you actually did your research) on that debate.
Dingus scored some facking goals
31:08 Ah yes, the Skyrim style of stealth.
I, SCOTTHEW HICKORY,
hereby nominate GREG MILLER from KFG for an OSCAR over the heart wrenching performance of "Playstation Vita"
Brought color & emotion back to living
Now this? This a treat
If we ever see a new vita I want a days gone spinoff as launch title
Golden Abyss WAS awesome though
I AM A HANDHELD! I AM A HANDHELD! I AM A HANDHELD! I AM A HANDHELD! I AM A HANDHELD!
Whoaaaa Greg Miller on TJ ❤😢❤😢❤
31:35 Oh shit! Hikaru Shida hype! Wasnt expecting that
Everybody’s Golf was and still is, epic.
Okay Carly Rae Jepsen as the 'true king of pop', that's a nice one!
The intro was gold
I forgot how much I love Sports Time :)
some might say that dynasty warriors next is a bit of a liu bei fiasco, with all that kicking and pushing
We need to turn that 'Oh balls, it's crap' into a reaction meme.
“Hustle Kings Is A Pool Game Where You Play Pool”
Bruh
Greg Miller’s Persona 4 review back in the day was why I bought a Vita.
Oh yeah here we go launch games time! I’ve never played a PlayStation Vita but I have seen RUclips videos about PlayStation Vita before so I’m gonna give this everything I’ve got!
The Vita is a beast! I've had one since launch day and still play it almost daily. The Homebrew scene is thriving!
yup ....that's the thing it really is a great console but Playstation messed it up with memory cards brah ...if the system cost like 250 and a mem cord was like 100 bucks bro Lmao That's like half of console price which is crazzzzyyyyyyy homebrew really is making it better by supporting it giving us a way to use micro SD something it should of came with by default! Love my oled 1000 modded vita I would never sell it ....gives me Gameboy advance child daysss when I use the gba emulator on it I got gta sa dead space port ..n many many many more ❤️
@@Gloryboyquan yea but now after hacking it, I can use any brand and size SD card (I got a 256gb) and downloaded many games!
@@SonyEnthusiast yeah I kno I been modded sense 2018

That back touch pad makes me weep for future Vita game preservation
no need to worry about it I'm sure they would find away to Alternatively do a other input incase of TouchPad...same way how it happend for wii and motion controls !
Jesus Christ Greg! Whaccha doin here in Triple Jump! 🙌🙌🙌
As one of the three Putty Squad fans, I regret to say the Vita version wasn't actually a launch title. System 3 were aiming for launch, but it kept getting delayed over and over... and over...
It didn't release until 2014.
I'm surprised Ben didn't go for F1 2011. I guess it doesn't compare to driving the real thing every Sunday afternoon.
I’m glad Haas took him back!
A walkable garage wanted that since PGR2!. Surprised by some I hadn't heard of I might check them out. Great intro and Greg the one that believed in the Vita of course. Also PSVR yes. The GDC Danganronpa ralk always sticks woth me he said stuff about the Vita and had ro say I am not endorsed by Sony but he just loved the Vita to develop for clearly.
Yeah Little Deivants first minigame is not a great one the later AR, gyro, mic and more ones for shooting, falling, jumping, whack a mole and more vary in quality.
The other games surprised me I didn't even know A Man was a launch title in Europe. Lumines is good I care for other puzzle games and the music can be good but yeah can't say for the entries besides the first one.
Yeah MotorStorm RC is interesting as the PSP one was a MotorStorm game on PSP/PS2 while RC was different, fine different but yeah I suck at top down/isometric racers too. Maybe it's good but yeah I'll get Artic Edge on PSP/Vita store instead. Enjoying the PS3 entries though.
PVZ on Vita wow it was on other versions though.... Huh didn't know it's as a EU launch title. Wow price point ah.
Ah Putty Squad sigh.
Rayman Origins is great surprisingly on Vita.
Ah Reality Fighters. Ah compared to Photo Dojo on DSi. Some footage is something at least.
Ridge Racer Vita ah, yeah the disappointing one on content. I assume fine controls but content handling because Namco had to do that sigh. What a waste. The PSP ones are better instead.
Golden Abyss does a good job in gyro shooting, fine charcoal, photo taking, awkward vaults and melee XD very explorer stuff that's really cool, among some usual things the series does.
Wipeout 2048 isn't as good as past times I find but still enjoyable and the last entry before the Omega Collection.
Virtua Tennis on PSP I enjoyed years ago not bothered with the series but I doymind arcade sports games if good and the minigames always seemed like silly fun in a good way.
The launch titles I think like Dreamcast were very strong besiyalso being a early exit for first party development and third party Japanese devs supported it.
Honestly sure not as many western games but Indies/Japanese titles and what was there of Sony first parties while western third parties like the Wii U went oh mobile oh install base size isn't big enough. With what they did do of games, PS TV, remote play, backwards compatibility they offered enough at least but 2016+ yeah management changed and we were left with what they could do I guess even though Viat would be cheaper and they killed their Vita developers off prior to 2016 but they have the Vib Ribbon quote. A lot of some things make sense others don't sure the cost but to down scale a few games or build Vita capable engines really that expensive? Nintendo sure always succeeds with handhelds but they supported the Wii U they didn't give up.
At least we got Japanese Asian English releases that's something. At least Indies and the Japanese cared and dedicated PlayStation fans own a Vita their the true audience not the Persona 4 and leave, not the oh a few eastern titles the real users of the Vita know it's exclusives, it launch, did the messaging better than Sony for it. Even though PSVR and Sony phones are niche and the Vita wasn't supported but niche....... Gaming is tough but I guess their Indie side kind of worked then didn't as Management changed and we sort of didn't have that as much at least for Vita than PS4 anyway.
The closest I've ever gotten to a vita is when Ellie killed someone playing one in The Last Of Us 😂
15:00 RESPECT FOR THE NUFC LOVE
Greg Miller from "This Is Awesome", on the WWE Network?? If only there was a word for this...
Thanks for talking about my favorite PS VITA.
I got my Vita on launch day. The accessories were available the day before. I got a $100 memory card (can't remember if it was 16GB or 32GB) and when that thing was full, I never bought another game.
Dont worry Vita, I remember you; I played mine so much the analog sticls gave out and I had to get a new one.
Magical content!
I loved Motor Storm RC, Uncharted Golden Abyss and FIFA 13
does that cup say "Im one fart away from a shit?"
We demand more Biff Dingus
Fantastic video! I love my Vita and it was a missed opportunity but i honestly cant think of another console with a higher quality over quantity ratio!
Minimal shovelware and id argue still the best way to play games like Persona 4, the Hyperdimension series and Tales of R.
If you ever seriously do decide to do a PSVR episode, you should get Brian Paul from PSVR Without Parole 😂
TripleJump and KindaFunny… it’s like endgame all over again.
The actual F1 2011 is a really fun game on pc, ps3, and 360. The ps vita and 3ds port, while looking similar are actually based on the F1 2009 engine, which was a game only released on the Wii and PSP. Which is a shame because it was the first Code masters F1 game ever (altough developed by Sumo Digital, who made the Wii and PSP [and I Think DS] port of Dirt 2, Codies own first proper F1 game was in 2010)
Vita was never going to beat 3DS, because seriously, Nintendo had handhelds in a strangle-hold, but by golly it could have been a contender, AT LEAST, if Sony hadn't killed it so quickly.
Such a tragedy.
Yeah I will forever remember the vita as the handheld which promised so much but was abandoned by Sony
Psvita videos in 2023 let's go! 🔥
Ben Potter is the single greatest content presenter of all time.
I pre-ordered the Vita alongside Wipoeut 2048. That game sufferred from early sunset because Studio Liverpool got shut down, the game was hardly complete. It's a great service that Wipeout Omega Collection on the PS4 contained all of the content from 2048.
I still love the Vita and a multitude of classic games on it including my favorite game Legend of Dragoon for PS1.
