I deeply respect pastor Jeff Durbin doing this street work. We've attended Apologia a few times since it's close to the house, & it's still really hot out here.
The way Simon looked at him as he walked off. Pastor Jeff spoke with him and challenged him as a man and I doubt he has experienced that ever in his life. As a former Mormon, I know how refreshing it is to have someone question your beliefs and pursue your mind as an actual adult who CAN and SHOULD be able to respond in kind. For me, it was frustrating when I couldn't respond and inspired a desire to rise to the challenge.
To those accusing Simons parents for not raising him right, please remember they could have done everything right. And they could be at home praying for him every day and night for his true conversion and salvation. Simon is a 22 year old gay man. He walked away from what he was raised in because he feels rejected. He needs prayers. And so do his parents. He was never converted in spite of hearing the truth. He needs the Lord to break through to his heart and draw him to himself. Im praying Jeffs encounter with him is the tool God uses. The means in which he draws Simon to himself.
Why would you care about that? If he is one of the elect he will be saved, eventually. According to Calvinism God predestined all things, even this young man’s lifestyle.

Thank you for speaking to these young people. Simon, like my own children, were raised in a Christian home. They are pastor kids as we are in ministry, and they have been taught the truth of the gospel. They have fallen into the deception of the enemy as adults and my heart aches for them. I’m so appreciative of people who are not afraid to confront these young people with the truth. Maybe one day my sons or daughters will be in a conversation with someone like you. 🙏🏻
Continue to trust in God, pray unceasingly, love your children as I can tell you do, and be there for them and be ready for when they begin to turn back, and NEVER approve of their sin, but love them in the midst of it as Christ loves us in the midst of our sin. Model Christ to them truly and God will work it all together for good. I was one of those children who "fell away" for many years and caused my parents great distress and almost tore their marriage apart. I got into all of the same nonsense this young man has dabbled in AND MORE. God eventually revealed to me the pit of despair I was in, and the dark tunnel leading to death and hell that I was on. He kept me safe for so long when I was rejecting and hating Him even though I didn't deserve it for a second, and never once thanked Him for His clear protection during the time. Eventually He used many things, and the right people at the right time to slowly bring me back to Him. Now I am 29 years old, married to the sweetest Christian girl I met through worshipping at my Church, both sets of parents attend our church together, relationships are restored and stronger than ever. My Dad and I served the last 4 years as Elder and Deacon at our church together, we lead worship almost every Sunday together with my wife, we have a 3 month old son now and are blessed beyond our wildest imaginations! God is good! There is always hope! 🙏

We really need to pray for these younger ones. What they have been exposed to in their 20 or so years on earth is so very sad. The world is upside down. I am 51 and I don't recognize it anymore. God has a purpose for us all for His glory. Pray until you pray. God once sent 2 ladies to me straight up telling me that God has sent them and one of the things they said was my purpose. Not so for everyone but God will lead you, He will.
Jeff inspires me to be persistant when I feel my evangelism is getting no where, it is easy to feel discouraged aginst a hardened hate filled heart. But it is worth it to save a life from eternal hell!
Always aim to be a better evangelist. I feel you there, I never got far with conversations and it was discouraging. It’s only when I re read the gospels and saw how Jesus treated people differently in proclaiming the good news. Now my conversations are like pastor Jeff. Just two people in dialogue about what the truth is. Just ask them questions about their worldview and you’ll see how quickly it crumbles. Then slowly answer the questions they can’t with the Gospel. My go to line I use is “hey man! What do you make of the world today ?” That usually gets people to talk. Then slowly break down their worldview with questions they don’t have answers to
People fall away from God. I watched a couple walk away from church after 40 years.....He was a deacon in the church, a leader.....one day he got mad and quit.......It's a day by day to stay in the Word......but people do walk away.
Romans 11. True believers can walk away from their faith but God welcomes them back if they repent. Galations was written to members of Christ's body that were saved but apostasized. If a, saved person can never fall away, how can you be certain of your salvation without the ability to predict the future? We will be saved but only if we hold fast to Christ and His gospel.
The world is in serious trouble right now and I pray God will awaken people. We are living in prophetic times. The time is near, I sense it in my spirit.
Their childish mockery makes me so sad. I would be willing to bet Simon encounters God in many aspects of his life and continues to reject Him. God continually pursued me as a child and young woman and I had no idea what was happening until I was well into my 30s. He is so loving and I pray and believe Simon will stop rejecting Him.

No you can't reason but it's the Spirit of God that works through the preaching of the gospel that convicts men of sin and righteousness and judgement. Just because you can't see an immediate response you don't know that a seed wasn't planted that falls on fertile soil and will grow. We have to trust God with the results. Don't count them hopeless because it's the power of God unto salvation for all who believe. This conversation may stick in their mind and when and if the Spirit wills they will be born again.

The way Simon looked at him as he walked off. Pastor Jeff spoke with him and challenged him as a man and I doubt he has experienced that ever in his life. As a former Mormon, I know how refreshing it is to have someone question your beliefs and pursue your mind as an actual adult who CAN and SHOULD be able to respond in kind. For me, it was frustrating when I couldn't respond and inspired a desire to rise to the challenge.

To those accusing Simons parents for not raising him right, please remember they could have done everything right. Thank you for speaking to these young people. Simon, like my own children, were raised in a Christian home. They are pastor kids as we are in ministry, and they have been taught the truth of the gospel. They have fallen into the deception of the enemy as adults and my heart aches for them. I’m so appreciative of people who are not afraid to confront these young people with the truth. Maybe one day my sons or daughters will be in a conversation with someone like you. 🙏🏻
Continue to trust in God, pray unceasingly, love your children as I can tell you do, and be there for them and be ready for when they begin to turn back, and NEVER approve of their sin, but love them in the midst of it as Christ loves us in the midst of our sin. Model Christ to them truly and God will work it all together for good. I was one of those children who "fell away" for many years and caused my parents great distress and almost tore their marriage apart. I got into all of the same nonsense this young man has dabbled in AND MORE. God eventually revealed to me the pit of despair I was in, and the dark tunnel leading to death and hell that I was on. He kept me safe for so long when I was rejecting and hating Him even though I didn't deserve it for a second, and never once thanked Him for His clear protection during the time. Eventually He used many things, and the right people at the right time to slowly bring me back to Him. Now I am 29 years old, married to the sweetest Christian girl I met through worshipping at my Church, both sets of parents attend our church together, relationships are restored and stronger than ever. My Dad and I served the last 4 years as Elder and Deacon at our church together, we lead worship almost every Sunday together with my wife, we have a 3 month old son now and are blessed beyond our wildest imaginations! God is good! There is always hope! 🙏

We really need to pray for these younger ones. What they have been exposed to in their 20 or so years on earth is so very sad. The world is upside down. I am 51 and I don't recognize it anymore. Thank you for this heart to heart conversation with Simon and telling him that you care. Maybe he never heard that from his parents. Maybe he's so numb inside from social media, mainstream media, and his devil-worshiping that just to have somebody preach the truth firmly but compassionately planted a seed in his heart that will (I hope soon) bear good fruit. Always aim to be a better evangelist. I feel you there, I never got far with conversations and it was discouraging. It’s only when I re read the gospels and saw how Jesus treated people differently in proclaiming the good news. Now my conversations are like pastor Jeff. Just two people in dialogue about what the truth is. Just ask them questions about their worldview and you’ll see how quickly it crumbles. Then slowly answer the questions they can’t with the Gospel. My go to line I use is “hey man! What do you make of the world today ?” That usually gets people to talk. Then slowly break down their worldview with questions they don’t have answers to

No you can't reason but it's the Spirit of God that works through the preaching of the gospel that convicts men of sin and righteousness and judgement. Don't count them hopeless because it's the power of God unto salvation for all who believe. This conversation may stick in their mind and when and if the Spirit wills they will be born again.
