I recommend using this method for getting your Zodiac Spear and saving the Hunt Club rewards for something else, such as another Genji Glove. There are a few pre-requistes you will need to complete first:

Final Fantasy 12 was first released way back in 2006 on the PS2. At the time, it was considered somewhat controversial by many Final Fantasy fans due to its departure from traditional FF gameplay. However, it is now looked back on fondly and many would consider Final Fantasy XII to be the best entry in the franchise. In 2007 the International Zodiac edition was released (in Japan only), and this version of the game included a more traditional job-based system and a new battle areana. For this remastered release, these additional changes are being brought to us fans in the West for the first time ever - along with high resolution textures and remastered soundtrack!

Just an additional tidbit of info. This works from the other entry point to the area, which is both shorter a distance from the chest and fewer and easier enemies on the road there. 😊
Just FYI Fuzz's method works if you enter the special charter shaft from the phase 2 shaft, and interestingly enough I hadn't defeated zodiark yet but the chest spawned regardless.

This 88-86-94 combination still works. At first I didn't realize the Addle and Ribbon were not 100% spawn rates and thought I already got them. Once I had them, worked like a charm.

Just tried this method. I can say that you don't need to beat zodiark for the trick to work. I got it to work by just getting the 6 items and then doing this method before I went for zodiark. Also I did it from the phase 2 shaft. It was faster to get to the chest. Awesome video as always.
Thanks for that! Have to say it only took me a minute or so to get the 1st number combo! Either way I generally have more trouble trying to get Addle than anything else! I remember, the last time I went to the mines I ended up with two Zodiac Spears before getting Addle! I decided to try entering from the Phase 2 Shaft and it does work (plus shorter distance to travel). 👍
if ur playing the pc steam version i can confirm that you can get the spear from a chest on tthe stairs when u enter the special shaft i created several saves to test it and out of entering and exiting without a diamond armlet got tthe spear 3 times out of 20 without having to use the reks method
You can just clear enemies around the stair then you can run back and forth the location for 1% chance. I found the spear after around 30 minutes doing so. By doing Reks cure trick you technically choose a way with smaller chance because you have less than 1% chance to get the 88-86-94 sequence.
Even though this particular video wasn't of all THAT much help (seeing I'm playing the XB1 version, and we all know XB1 don't get to take advantage of these 'exploits' - for lack of other terms). However I just wanted to thank you for all your other vids (walkthroughs, boss fights, etc)! Your videos are my top 'go-to' for this game!
And on a side note..... I got this spear after about half-hour(ish) of zoning in n out of the Ore Separation/Phase 2 Dig zone line!! ^_^ :D

Great video Fuzz, i got all special weapons thanks to your videos.. it is worth mentioning here (not sure if you did) that not only one time loot chests should be obtained but also Diamond Armlet should be equipped!!! i tried the sequence without armlet and first it did not work) and yes better try the exit closer to the chest itself) many thanks for your work.. really cool)

You will never believe that I got this in my second zone into this area. Got a really lucky spawn, was looting one time treasures after killing Zodiark and boom there it was.

Some people suggested using the south entrance, but that didn't work for me. I think because of the enemies that spawn in the room before you can enter the area that can screw up your rng. I tried it from the Zodiac room and I got it in one try.

TLDR: If this isn't working for you, and you're sure you've picked up all the one-time chests in the zone, try stopping one cure earlier than what Fuzzfinger does in the video. Go for 97-88-86 - that worked for me. There's a glowing treasure spot you can find after finding the note in Phase 2 Dig, and I think that spends a random number if you haven't picked it up yet. I hadn't collected it, so leaving off that last cure made the chest spawn for me.

This video saved my day. I had literally wasted hours trying to get the chest spawn normally in Henne Mines. The rng can be cruel but thanks to the smart people of the internet even RNG can be enslaved.

I've done the first sequence of numbers 88,86,94 a few times now but don't seem to have much luck getting the chest to spawn and I'm fairly certain I did everything (even double checked my inventory to make sure I had all the one time loot) this method hasn't been patched out has it?
IDK how to feel about the new way of getting the ZS. On the one hand I'm glad I don't have to dig up an otherwise outdated FAQ from gamefaq's because I can never remember what chests I can't touch... On the other hand, with the old method you could get the ZS at almost the start of the game and still open the other chests if you were still inclined.
Either way, it's a relief in the end that I can do what my ff instincts require and loot every possible chest with reckless (but apparently not Reks-less ;-D ) abandon.
I have done this Reks trick for the Seitengrat bow and I managed to get 5 of them, this work also for Zodiac Spear?

I decided to use the rare game method to get the zodiac spear (Giving Atak, Blok, and Stok each 10 trophies), however after doing this the spear is supposed to be purchasable for 999,999 gil(According to the wiki)? The issue is I have no idea where the merchant is that is supposed to sell it. I checked the Phon Coast merchant as well as the secret Baknamy merchant and I had no luck. If anyone has any insight on where I might be able to buy the spear, it would be greatly appreciated.

Tried this 4 times ... no chest at all ... used both healing sequences
BUT ... as i moved out of the boss fight area FIRST, to create an auto save and THEN doing the Rex-method, IT WORKS. In your Video you create the REX-healing, you load up your auto save and THEN you leave the room what creates a new auto save.
So it worked for me the other way round (to create the auto save in the next area)
I use the PS4-version of the game btw

yes this method worked for me, too. I entered into Special Charter Shaft and created the autosave there. So after the Rex 88-86-94, i loaded up already in the correct zone and it was there. When I used Fuzz's method it didn't appear
I did everything on the video but the treasure didn't show. I'm on PS4, and did the sequence correctly although I had to refill my MP halfway through sequence... Would that effect it?
Worked like a charm for me. Cheers bud. Had to try twice though. Believe it didnt work on the first attempt as I had hp up (bubble) status on my character while it created the autosave. Try remove all status by using dispel if it is not working for anyone :)
Hello, I just tried the RNG Manipulator to get the Zodiac Spear and it did not work. I got all the rare chest and defeated the esper. I started a new game and got the cure spell numbers 88, 96 and 91. Is there something I missed?
I can confirm it works from Phase 2 shaft, no need to take the long way just have the auto save there and it will spawn. Didn't work when i tried to run there from the Special charter dig... Just create the auto save in the Phase 2 shaft.

Playing this on PS5. I tried farming this chest spawn the normal way, I spent hours with more than 400x going back and forth between zones. Nothing. Then I found your video. I got it on the first try using this method. You're a life saver!
Same for me, but with other stuff with bad RNG. It was such a waste of time before finding this content. I am so happy now with having Best in Slot for my main team. Ty so much ❤️
Just to add some info's. I didn't loot the brave suit and the ribbon and made my way to the zodiac spear, which of course wasn't there. So I went around to see if some chest were there. I found the ribbon but the brave suit wasn't there so I zoned out. The chest was there the second time and as I was making my way up the stairs here it was, the chest with the zodiac spear. Might be a coincidence but I have some doubt. So if u forgot to look all 6 1 timer chest, go around, find them and make your way back towards the zodiac chest before trying your recks save again, it might be there ^^
I would like to get Zodiac Escutcheon, I've used RNG Helper to open chest and get best item. However getting chest to sawn has eluded me any help would be appreciated.
I do see loading a game moves the counter ~120 which is odd, but I was able to get Zodiac Escutcheon by getting the RNG Helper # being 0
before I entered the room, but spawning when I load the room has still eluded me as you do with Rex. I guess to get it to show you have to be below the %Spawn.
How do you exactly calculate that right? Is the # always 120
Why can't you just do this from the south (original) entrance to the Special Charter Shaft, Fuzz ? Why do you feel you need to "set it up" in the Zodiark Room, rather than the south room, just outside ? Both create an Auto Save when you zone in / out - and you actually end up far closer to the Zodiac Spear chest when you do it that way ?
Yep, sometimes the way the RNG manipulation works can be a strange thing but it turns out you can do either (I think some of the comments here have said you can get this without killing Zodiark but I have not tested that myself). You do have to have collected the other one time loot chests first from this area though.
Interesting - thanks for the clarification, Fuzz. I just slaughtered Ultima last night (granted slightly over-leveled with the party around 67 or 68), using Dark Shot + Mithuna gun for Balthier, with him Bravery'd and wearing Berserker Bracers....and Vaan (Shikari/Foe) using Yagyu Darkblade + Germinas Boots...it was amazing lol. I had never seen her HP go down so fast - she got off 2 Holyja's, and I was only into the "MP Draining Field" phase, before she collapsed ! I'm hoping Zodiark will go as smoothly with Holy Lance Balthier and Excalibur + White Robes Basch, now :-) * ps - your Gendarme video helped me snag one easily...I only got one though, still feel slightly guilty about it, considering how ludicrous it is ;-)
So in the original game, the zodiac spear had a only a small percentage of being in the treasure chest anyway, in this revamp of the game, once you have gotten the chest to spawn is it a 100% that you will get the zodiac spear with diamond armlet equipped? (i remember the hours I spent in the original getting the damn chest to finally spawn, just to fanny about doing cure/RNG to try to make the chest give up the zodiac spear.
Yup, also more powerful weapons have been added (with low spawn chances) meaning stuff like the Zodiac Spear is no longer the ultimate weapons.
So can you do this multiple times to get multiple zodiac spears?

When I got the numbers right I quit to title-screen but the auto-save was from the Reks playthrough, not sure if I did anything wrong, is it possible to still have the RNG manipulation if you load from the Orange crystal in Hennes mine?
Also did an uppsie, I forgot to save before I had to hunt 2 more espers, kill Zodiac, loot everything in Hennes mine and start the RNG manipulation so I lost everything and now have to start over from my last save - RIP
Redid all espers, collected the six items, did the cure RNG manipulation and even now 8/6/2019 it still works!
I was going to do this but first I wanted to try getting the spear the “normal” way. I put Balth as party leader, his everybody else, killed off Reddas and started running up and down, resetting and checking. Within 10 minutes, I had the spear. I’ll have to try your method on my next playthrough.. 😂

I was thinking of getting this weapon, but I'm almost finished with the game. Nearing my PS4 platinum trophy! So excited~
Plus, Seitengrat has been wonderful to me. It's the most powerful weapon in FFXII, in regards to its attack power. Rarely used anything else.

FYI It took me 1 1/2 to get from stupid Blinding Mantis... I just ran to where he was and stole had the gloves on from before... really hard one for me was getting Gun on Trial Mode 86... just getting it stolen was 1/2 the battle.

Contrary to the Seitengrat, this one didn't work. I entered in the Zodiac room like you did equipping the diamond armlet then I quit the FFXII app then opened it again from my ps4 dashboard and loaded the save file with Reks. I got the 88 86 94 combination then go back to the main menù and loaded the save file in Henne Mines. I exited the Zodiac room and followed the path you shown to get to the chest but it doesn't spawn even once. I tried goung back to the Zodiac room many times but the chest still doesn't spawn. I don't know what I'm doing wrong...

Got 3 seitengrats no problem.
Tried this 5 times and still cant get it to show.
Dont know if my gambits on the walk there do anything, but if i dont have gambits on, i get mauled and die, which im positive has to do something to the RNG.
Did you get 88 86 94 or 88 96 91? because you said you were using rekhs for like 6 minutes but ive gotten only 88 86 94 in under 3 minutes.
EDIT: Nope. thats 7 times with 88 86 94 and 3 times with 88 96 91. And i know the RNG is resetting cause getting up to the 88 96 91 i see the same pattern of 88 86 94 come up a few times. Somethings wrong or changed. Like i said, had no problem with the seitengrat methods.

no need to kill zodiark first you can do it from the other entrance too and you dont have too kill as much enemys ;)

No, all of the RNG tricks were removed from the switch version.

i got mine from the biding mantis...
After trying again and again to steal it from the biding mantis i thought of a theory that maybe only an uhlan could steal the zodiac spear. So i took out my Fran which is black mage/uhlan while equipped with dragon whisker and theifs cuffs stole from the biding mantis and got it on the first try. hope this helps guys
@@jaymoneyyy110 but the game is so broken, it does not matter. The international version where u can only choose 1 class and even that u hero is already op due to the license. In the zodiac version since u can choose 2 this make ur hero super op. While i do admit having the optimal combination make the game on easy mode
I wasnt able to get the spear with this method but I already got it in the trial mode so no big deal i guess.
First time, no worries....... except that I auto-saved in the wrong area so had to heal Reks twice....... ugh.
got the great trango from zodiark after 5 restart and i got the spear before i kill zodiark

Somehow replaying 62 over and over trying to steal the zodiac spear was much easier then getting the damn brave suit to show up so i didn’t bother trying to get the rpg, maybe I’ll try for the brave suit again sometime, but probably not

Just to confirm, I've not killed Zodiark yet. I grab my auto-save at the start of the Special Charter Shaft so I only had to go down the stairs. However you do have to clear out all the one time chests first, like stated in the video. Numbers used were 88-86-94. I only grab one of them as only one of my characters can use it. Thanks Fuzz :)

Lol I got lucky on my 7th time I re-entered I got both addle & Zodiac Spear :)
If anyone is struggling to get this weapon don't worry about it. The Zodiac Spear has always been highly overrated. You will get much more use out of the Holy Lance and Vrsabha (Dragon Whisker L) than this weapon. The reason being is most of the end-game enemies are undead, therefore the Holy Lance damage bonus outperforms the Zodiac Spear. Anything that's not Undead Vrsabha's combo rate of 10 will outperform the Zodiac Spears combo rate of 4. Don't get mesmerized by the big base damage of the Zodiac Spear. You can also get both the spears I mentioned much earlier than the Zodiac Spear.

Makenshi Critiques ikr, some spells and skills came so late as well into the game I don't even use them anymore, oh well maybe for some completionist who wanna collect everything I guess
This weapon would be worth getting if the spear was "1 handed versus 2 handed".
I think the biggest example of this was the Tournesol, which was the most powerful sword in the game, and you got it by beating the 2 hardest bosses in the game (omega mk.xii and yiazmat). Why did I need this sword now? To beat the story's final boss even harder than I was already? lol
you mean the wyrmhero blade but yeah on zodiac age these are a little less pointless considering that trail mode is hard even with a team of 99 and best gear

Unlikely, Switch and XB1 RNG seems to be different than PS4.

Given the comments, it seems possible one of these options is pre-assigned under some circumstance. It is likely one sequence OR the other, not both.
