I was at my wits end with no money to purchase anything to improve my computer performance until I came across just the right tutorial that really worked for me. The only thing I could not access was the 'registry' but it didn't matter because the results from following everything else in this tutorial as you described has made my life less stressful. Really, all these steps work. Before this video, I had a really laggy computer but now it's running so fast that I have to get used to it now. Even though I deleted the thumbnails permanently accidentally, I'm still very happy.

My pc before the factory reset took 10 minutes to open, now it takes 4 seconds, if your pc is that slow, i recommend factory resetting it

@@makawaka9317 For me Its makes my computer smoother and responds quicker, i have steam but i don't have issues with lag on steam, but i can infer, it will probably make is smoother but after you the steps on the video, you need to restart your computer so you can see the differences :)

We all know windows 8.1 is the best windows version in terms of speed/performance, and stability. The fastest to boot up. I am running this on my Acer netbook with 2gb ram, 1.6ghz dual core. Perfect! Nothing to complain about except the required resolution to run apps but who cares. It installed a program where i can make start menu like windows 7, and a little transparency on windows and voila!, Perfect!

I wouldn't recommend deleting the data in C:\Windows\Prefetch
Each time you turn on your computer, Windows keeps track of the way your computer starts and which programs you commonly open. Windows saves this information as a number of small files in the prefetch folder. The next time you turn on your computer, Windows refers to these files to help speed the start process.
The prefetch folder is a subfolder of the Windows system folder. The prefetch folder is self-maintaining, and there's no need to delete it or empty its contents. If you empty the folder, Windows and your programs will take longer to open the next time you turn on your computer.

Where do you plug in the power cord
DO NOT mess with registry unless you really know what you are doing. you might cause damage to your windows operating system.
anyways we can export(backup ) the registry file before we play around with it.. nothing much to worry about it .'
