Is the NEW 2020 Cadillac CT4-V a BETTER performance sedan than the Audi S3?

- The ALL NEW Cadillac CT4-V is here to out perform cars like the Audi S3. Under the hood is a 2.7L turbocharged inline-4 turbocharged engine that produces 325HP & routed through a 10-speed automatic gearbox. It's exterior has special V-series touches such as the grill, wheels, and Brembo brakes. On the inside you will find special touches that makes the CT4-V more performance oriented than the standard CT4. Does the NEW 2020 Cadillac CT4-V have enough PERFORMANCE for the price?

This car is a gem~ the 2.7 was developed & is being used in full sized GM pickup trucks~ the paint will wear off the car before this engine ever gives up.
Personally, I love the direction Cadillac is going with their brand. I love the new styling. I’m sure the customer’s appreciate it because Cadillac is selling more units. Thanks for this review!
So Cadillac is no longer on the decline?
It’s a very ugly remodeling
As a long time Cadillac owner i can say um NO the customers DO NOT like this new direction Cadillac is going..
@@gmack247 Well, they're trying to appeal to a younger group of people. Young people want luxury sports cars like BMWs, not land boats. Cadillac gained the reputation for an "old man" brand due to them never changing, and their sales plummeted. It's either Cadillac adapt to the market, or they go bankrupt.
@@dwrussell96 Cadillac was going in the correct direction with the 3rd gen CTS ie: 2014 -2019 model ...If you took the badges off that CT4 it could almost be mistaken for a Nissan or a Toyota...🤷🏽♂️
Hopefully they come out with a coupe version of this, I really enjoy the styles of the previous cadillac coupes like the ATS-V
I am very impressed with this CT4 V!!! I LOVE Cadillac's and the I love the piping around the seats and that engine is nice!!!
I am so happy I could bring this one to you!
Jimmie Carter ya but they lost the sweet ass design.
I have ats 2.0 prem , live in Ukraine and dream go have cts v -4-5 series
Damn that is what I need here, i am with little 2.0t babe eye catcher on road , with v series i would feel like on the stage with my followers))
I believe Cadillac confirmed that the "Full V" versions will adopt the Blackwing name.
Yup, they sure did. www.cadillac.com/future-vehicles/v-series-blackwing
Looking forward to the new CT5 blackwing.
50% of the time to said “v -series” it triggered Siri! Funny that on Chevys you zonk the side badges for being too high, so Cadillac puts it low, then zonked for too low! 😂
Cars look better without the badges anyways, take them off!
I believe it was just announced earlier today the true top performance versions of this & the CT5 will be named the CT5 V Blackwing and CT4 V Blackwing. 400ish horsepower for the 4 and 650 for the 5 I think. Thanks for another Great Review though! Always looking forward to your uploads!
You are correct I can't wait to get my hands on those.
Yes, and according to an online article by Car and Driver, buyers will have the option of a 6-speed mt.
Ray Stark oh thank god its not v max 🙏
Will it be awd?
And with MANUALS!!!
13:42 I like how the "Raitis Ride" emblem blocks out the speedometer just as you kicked it into gear! LOL Slick move Joe, I'm loading your trunk up with Little Debbies!
Love Ratti's reviews on everything....bought a 2020 CT4-V AWD Shadow metallic today...thanks Ratti for the review. It really helped me come to the decision.
The Cadillac CT4 is more on par with the Audi A4. The dimensions prove it. Cadillac finally is getting what the American market wants... They need to develop a convertible and coupe to expand their lineage if they want to compete with Audi. Drive by an Audi dealership and see what they have to offer, prices range from the $40's to $200's they sell everything. It's great to see Cadillac is getting back in the game!
45 grand seems like a steal 👌 pay it off in a few short years easily
i mean you could prolly lease one for 3 yeaars quite comfortably
I had these same thoughts.
kelson Lease-to-buy maybe. I’d want to keep this for a while.
I have a 2017 s3 right now, really considering to go to the 2021 CT4-V.. ether that or a new s3..hmm 🤔 what would be your choice?
Caddy doing it right now, plus the new model look looks very good and sporty I love it. This makes me want one of these frfr
Put a tune on this and free exhaust up alittle bit and your easley at 350/360hp and some 19s or 20s and this car is happening
Great review. Just bought a '22 CT4 Sport. Love it. Looked at the V series but with a 7 yr old son had to think about back seat space as he grows. My first cadillac won't be my last
Based on that exhaust sound, it sounds like that CT4-V has enough power 😂👍🏻
Great vid, Joe!
Thanks for letting me bring it all to you Victor!
@@RaitisRides I'm kind of bummed it is only a cuople more hps than my 2014 CTS 2.0L hp. It should be a LOT more power.
w41duvernay bro it’s got lots more torque it’ll be quicker than a 2.0 CTS. The 2.0 was better suited to the ATS
@@bpbeast i have a 2.0 ats and that thing is a sleeper of sorts....
kelson they are a ton of fun to rev out aren’t they? ATS was a great car didn’t get enough shine
Handling wise, how tail happy did it feel at full song? Any playfulness? Seems like its waaaay too planted even at full throttle, i personally enjoy the playful nature of my bmw 3 series.
From Joe and Tom's view 14:55 the blue Tacoma was about to get a back full of CTS4 V from the side. Nice review as always.
Love Cadillacs Vertical lights glad they have kept them from the early days keeping tradition great look
Cadillac coming with what they call 'Blackwing' series of super V CT-4 and CT-5 high performance sedans. Cant wait to see the power specs of those cars. Should be fun.
Hi joe
Enjoy the video. This vehicle reminds me of my 2019 Genesis G70.
The infotainment screen, cup holders and steering wheel.
I love sports sedans!
Beautiful car and color.
I think I like the g70 more
I like what Cadillac is doing with the V series. I think this fits very nice in the trims. Can’t wait to see the Blackwing version.
Finally getting mine next week after months of waiting :D Black, with black graphite wheel, red brambos and sangria interior. I went AWD since I'm in Canada and winter is real. That thing is a beast, felt way lighter than my current ATS and so nimble, makes you feel like skating effortlessly when on snow. I'll make sure to carry snacks and skittles for you Joe!
Great review, hot car. I love what Cadillac is doing these days. Their performance sedans just shred and are really competitive price wise. I would love to take the CT4 V for a spin.
Thanks for being the first reviewer of this vehicle, I love this car and would get it in RWD for the magnetic ride control. Keep up the good work, you're becoming my favorite auto reviewer on RUclips. Just enough space for some Little Debbie's and a Yoo-hoo 😂
You are so very welcome! I really appreciate your support and letting me share this with you!
Beautiful design! Love it! And thank you for your great reviews. A fan from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
I was a skeptic at first but now I’m impressed
I know how you feel Patrick.
Best Cadillac information inside and out on RUclips!!
Zonk! I say it all the time now.
Coronavirus. Zonk!
Recession. Zonk!
Quarentine. Zonk!
Raiti's Rides new video. Cool!
Soney Barbosa I totally agree with you! Thanks for the support!
Soney Barbosa buy the shoes and eat the cake
Pretty good growl coming out of the 4 cyl engine. 2.7L with 325 hp and 381 lb/ft almost as powerful as the 3.0L V6 with 360hp and 405 lb/ft in the CT5-V that you ran a few days ago. But at $45K and the CT5-V only $48.6K I would upgrade to the big brother.
From a to c pillar it's an ATS. Looks good, more like an evolution of the ATS.
Definitely in competition with the S3. These Cadillac performance sedans just rock. I would love to test drive one. Great review Joe!
Thats only 45k? I like.give me a flat bottom steering wheels & make those vents functional & I'll get my checkbook.
My daughter just purchased a 2020 CTV4 & she absolutely ❤️💕it. Previously had a 2014 CTS that she traded she says; the CTS has nothing like the 2020 CTV4 she is very satisfied. She traded the 2014 CTS which only had 45,000 miles, owed only $4200 on it.The finance company paid it off got the 2020 w/ no money down plus she got a blue cross blue shield discount through Parker Cadillac out of LittleRock, special ordered out of Texas metallic orange.
This is the first drive review (video or article) that I’ve seen of the CT4-V...ANYWHERE!! Excellent work, and unsurprisingly...based upon the initial reviews of the CT5-V, this looks to be a VERY competent sedan. It’s too small for me (at 6’-6”), but I’m super excited for the CT5-V.
p.s. I’m always excited to hear what random food assortment and drinks will fit in the door pocket, ha! Hilarious.
I wish it had the 3.6 V6(turbo fours will never sound good no matter what you do to them)but being RWD makes it better than the cars it's competing against
I Really Like your Enthusiasticism And how you went section by section on the CT4... Just a Great job...Keep Up the good Work And Stay True to your Opinions Of the Cars you Review... God Bless.
I am just waiting for the new G70 sedan to see the difference.
I can't wait!
Great review. I always liked the looks the ATS and I think this is a nice evolution of that. Love the way the headlights swoop down. Alpha platform has always gotten high praise. What do you think is more fun to drive, this or a V-6 Camaro? HP is about the same.
Been waiting for this one... i actually love this car, turbo 2.7 from the Silverado with some mods works for me.. great review.👍
I am so glad that I can share it with you Mark!
@@RaitisRides that 2.7 looks like it pulls really well?
Your excitement in driving this vehicle on throttle says everything I need to know!
I am impressed with the ct v4
Glad to see Caddy still sticking around in 2020
Keep up the amazing work Joe!!
Can’t wait for the trim with a V8 in it, that 4 banger sounds like a hair dryer on steroids or something 😂 but it serves its purpose. Great review Joe.
The V8 weight will throw off the balance. The way forward is v6 turbo. Less weight still sounds good
Definitely won't have a V8, turboed V6 probably. The CT5 will probably have a trim with a V8 though
@@ZS-xi4xk yes the ct4 blacking will have a 3.6iter twin turbo v6 while the ct5 v blacking will have theb6.2 liter supercharged v8 we see in the camaro zl1 and the cts v
@@philbosh03 they need to stop recycling their engines and start building something new. Its kind of a let down when they have the same powertrains for years on end with very slight improvements.
@@ZS-xi4xk the only disappointment is the v6 that supercharged v8 is still smoking almost everything in its path 650 hp can't go wrong no matter what engine it is
Is that the same 10 speed that's in the Camaro SS and mustang?
Yep. I want one!! Thanks for another awesome review Joe!
Great review. I'm really surprised at the performance and handling on this one. I think they'll probably sell really well.
Great video on great car Joe! And I just gotta say I don't feel like you get enough credit for this but on behalf of everyone I'd like to thank you for actually taking the time out of your day to read reply to all the comments it really means a lot to me and all the other members of the Raiti's Rides family!! You're doing a wonderful job sir and can't wait to see your channel grow!
Hopefully you’ll do the Cadillac ct6 v that’ll be amazing. Keep up the great work 👍🏾👏🏾
This will be my first car!!! Great video Joe.
Great video!
I am liking this caddy except to not have a digital dash and that media center looks a bit cheap as well. The Germans definitely have more of that luxury technology feel.
That's the thing that is killing me right now with them. At least it has Android Auto. The stupid ATSV and even M3/C63 do not even have that let alone a full digital dash that the audi has for example.
Im so debating this or a 330/M340. Ive had many BMWs and things just work, but they've lost a lot of the edge. This car seems edgier, but its missing some key stuff like the ability to shift from the gear selector when in manual. Who decided that one? Even the ATS could shift from there as do their German competitors. It couldn't have cost much if anything to incorporate that. A 10in screen would have been nice too, but that aside, I LOVE this car and the CT5's as well. Cant wait for quarantine to be over and to feel safe enough to go drive them and decide. I loved the steering and suspension of my ATS Premium with magnetic ride, and if they have fixed the slow transmission issue which it seems as though they have, then Im super excited. Thanks for a great review.
Thanks Joe! This is a really sweet car! And has a lot of advantages over it's FWD German competitors. NIce!
love your videos. The one thing I don't like is how you go like 60mph through obvious residential zones, even a school pedestrian crossing and you did an acceleration right through it! I hope you know what you're doing.
You called it a Mr. Pibb? A true floridian
I read the top of line V series of Cadillac will be called V Blackwing ...
I had Cadillacs for 35 years. Unfortunately the last two a ATS and CTS were deemed NYS lemons. My ATS held the record for breakdowns . 60 days total days in service center I did get my money back and they offered me a car of any choice But I still went foreign. Such a shame. My heart will always be with a Cadillac . But clearly made before 5 pm on Friday’s.
I am so sorry to hear about those issues Al!
Great review! How does this compare to the new Mercedes CLA 35 AMG you reviewed recently?
It is not as good to be honest.
This is just an awesome car!
I last said that about 1966 through 1970 Cadillacs!!!
Could they make a two door convertible V series?
Or better yet make the 4 door Ciel!!!
I would buy it in a New York second!
I am so glad that you like this one.
Beautiful car. And I’m sure you didn’t violate any speed laws😁😁
Just a reminder:
You can get the same engine in the CT4 Premium Luxury.
Just a heads-up 😉
$40k for this seems like a deal, you can't touch a new AMG, S or M for the same money. Cadillac's brand image may not be as strong as the German's but the V-series is pretty respected, and I think this thing looks damn good so if it can at least keep up with them performance-wise then I wouldn't mind giving the nod to the underdog.
The whole issue people are complaining about is that this is no longer a "V" series as you think of it. The new CT5-V "Blackening" is going to be akin to the "V" series you refer to, and these will be $85,000+
Thought he said 45k
@@rgotti3129 Still a good marketing gimmick. MB and BMW have been profiting off of this tactic for a few years now, even though they're basically just whoring out their most esteemed trim levels. I think GM needed to do this since apparently the watered down "V-sport" nomenclature they used for a while didn't resonate with many buyers. Ultimately I think GM keeps shooting themselves in the foot by not giving Cadillac models real names again like Lincoln reverted back to doing (successfully so far), but I think these rebranded "V" cars with newly attainable price tags will drum up some interest and maybe a few conquest sales.
@@philippernice8769 They'll be $40k-ish after typical GM discounts lol. Still not a bad deal even at the $45k MSRP though.
I like caddy, but 2.0 l alfa romeo 290 hp make 5,1 s per 0-60 ml. Stock
Alfa 3l twin turbo make 500hp stock
Alfa faster definately,. But looks sexiest on my opinion
Thanks for the vid! Love your channel! 😊
Love the orange on the interior! 👍
I am so glad that you liked this one.
I love Cadillacs LED DTRL
I am so glad to hear that! This one was a blast to drive!
This is what i was waiting on, love this car especially in the red
hi man. Please place the camera in a place where the dashboard in full view, such as mode pov drive. thank you
Thanks for the feedback.
you are the best
Doug’s the type of guy....oops wrong channel
haha I love the reaction during the acceleration "wow!"
I love your CT4-V is the sedan, I like it's performance
I die every time you mention the word Zonk! Keep up the great content brother11
Looks more like a A4. Very smart of Cadillac to offer this engine in this price range, lots of torque for the price! The 381 Torque is more than what S4 offers. This CT4-V will be a very good competition for Germans!!!!
I think the Alfa Giulia is the closest rival. How do you feel they compare? I love the Giulia chassis and steering. It is a bit down on power but $600 tune gets you 12.9 1/4 and 4.5 0-60.
Overall would you choose this A35 or Giulia?
Wow, nice job Cadillac. Crisp, clean styling, not too busy or fussy, not too heavy, RWD and enough power to keep it fun.
One question: how does that Bose stereo sound? The Bose system in my C7 is a huge disappointment, a great big Zonk in an otherwise excellent car...
I bought my Championship Edition from you guys! Good dealership! 👍
I would love to see them bring back a 2 door coupe. The ATS V coupe was superb! I should see if Sketch Monkey can design what a CT4 coupe would look like.
*Just googled it. Cadillac Society has rendered a CT4 and CT5 coupe. The 5 looks good, but the 4 is off - it looks like they didn't shorten it any.
Not a huge fan of the rear end but it's nice overall. I'm glad that Cadillac has gone back to some hard buttons instead of the all touch CUE system.
I'm 5'7" and I didn't like the tightness of the backseat when I sat in the CT4 at the auto show (I felt the same way in the back of the Genesis G70 which I also like). The CT5 is nicely spacious - for me at least.
Engine sounds nice. I read this engine will be in the next generation of Colorado ZR2
For the record the CT4 is a refreshed ATS they reduced the price, cause Cadillac was not selling the ATS or CTS so they think people are dumb and not realize that the cars they replaced are the exact same size as they were before only difference is the engine choices until you get to Blackwing V which is same as the CTS V and ATS V.
Those are some fancy headlights. Pinky out, Joe!
I agree with your zonks. I hope they figure out another name besides Vmax. I’ve been bit by the Porsche bug lately, so not in the market for a new car, but the CTS4-V looks nice. My parents had numerous Cadillacs back in the day, so I’m always rooting for them.
I just subbed because I love the way u do your reviews. The best out there, direct and to the point with no bullshit.👏👏👏
That is a vicious sounding car O_O.
But it's GM, they will build it now and a yr from now will stop production and go a different direction.
You're right about that. Look what they did with the Blackwing CT-6 V, they just dropped it.
@@AnthonyEvelyn it's almost as if they just love throwing money away.
The hp is similar to the hp in the Mustang EcoBoost but the torque is higher. How would you compare the performance between the two? The weight seems similar also. Imo this is a 4 door to consider for a good combination of performance and mpg.
It feels just as fast.
Joe, I love being part of the family!
Hopefully you can answer a couple of questions.
1. You said MSRP was 45 grand but usually you add “as this one sits” was the total of that car 45?
2. If we’re talking your money and you had to buy either this or the Audi S3 based solely on performance (not just performance stats) but I mean performance and feel, which one takes your money?
Thank you Joe and keep the videos coming!
Base model rumored to start at $33,000 but is missing some safety options.
There seems to be a bit of an issue with your reviews and MSRP.
You quote MSRP as 'about $45,000' and show us a vehicle that's unattainable at "about $45,000".
For this vehicle as shown you would have to add
+$800 for Bose and Nav (7:13)
+$1000 for leather interior (7:02, base interior does not come with orange piping).
+$1200 for Climate package (required for leather interior package)
+$1225 for Red Obsession Tintcoat or +$625 for either of the other two red colors
+$595 for red brake calipers (3:34)
+$1050 for the sunroof (9:40)
So according to their website this is a $51,360 MSRP + $995 for destination vehicle.
And sure, you can say I'm being pedantic or whatever, but look at the comments about it being 'only 45k, I'd buy that'.
Yeah, I don't think I will trade in my s3 at that price.
Rather get a G70 3.3T with more power for the same price
Brad C Except power isn’t everything. It’s only a 60 horsepower difference between the two which the G70 probably needs because it’s 300 lbs heavier than the CT4-V. Not only is the Cadillac substantially lighter, the weight it does carry is perfectly balanced 50/50 on it’s Alpha 2 chassis. That helps make for a different level in driving characteristics and you won’t find the same in the Genesis G70. The Cadillac is also paired with a superior 10-speed automatic transmission, has the adaptive magnetic ride control suspension system, likely has the better steering feel, and gets way better gas mileage while doing it. The performance engineering of Genesis isn’t quite on the level of the V-series lineup. You get way more for your money with the Cadillac than you do with the Genesis. I would love to see 0-60, 0-100, 100-0 times to compare these two though. That would be interesting.
Frank L Lol. So if I change my profile pic to a Dodge logo that would somehow validate the factual points I’ve already laid out? You sound dumb. You’re CLEARLY a very bothered and pressed individual who seems to be a big Cadillac hater. Not my problem. No one was even talking to you. I don’t care to persuade anyone of anything because I don’t work for either company, moron. But what I’ve said is either fact or false and can easily be proven. You’re so mad and angry. I don’t Cadillac cares you dislike them, I certainly couldn’t give a shxt less.
@@mybro727 You have to factor the amount of time the cadillac is in the shop to really compare. If I can only drive it 11 out of 12 months a year due to shop time for repairs then the value proposition is even less.
Joe great stuff, but I have to say it sounded a bit disappointing outside. Was that in v/track?
How would you compare the CT4-V and CT5-V to the Genesis G70 3.3 sport? They all look great for that price range but curious how you would compare them. Also, my grandmother lives across from that dealership and I stopped there yesterday because they had a blue CT5-V that I had to stop and check out!
Very sharp looking car. Night and day difference between this and the old ats interior
I totally agree with you!
Now u got me driving by my local cadillac dealer stalking for a v
That amusing placement of the Raitis Rides logo THO! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great car! Great review!
interesting the fusion sport also has a 2.7l but v6 twin turbo 325hp and 380tq but its impressive that this gets that power out of a i4 single turbo and plus 1 extra torque at 381 ahah
I love the V badge on the lower portion of the doors..... just saying. Another great video buddy!!
This is really exciting
Would you say the performance of this CT4-V is roughly the same as a Genesis G70 3.3T ?
NO FLAWS. THAT CADDY CT4 V HAS NO FLAWS INTERIOR, EXTERIOR, DESIGN & PERFORMANCE (TECH INCLUDED).
