    Stef, I've had jaw surgery. Mine was double jaw surgery to correct a congenital deformity. Even though most people didn't think I looked off because they were use to that face but for me, I couldn't wait to get the jaw surgery done. Every time I saw myself in the mirror, all I saw was my buck teeth, over growth in the upper jaw and I couldn't close my lips. I had to wait until I was in my 30s to get it done because of the cost. Paying the money and growing through the pain was WORTH EVERY SINGLE MOMENT AND PENNY! I can't wait to see you in the body you want because you deserve nothing less.

      i've had the same surgery! i was only 14 (in belgium surgeries get paid back) but i COULDN'T BE HAPPIER with the result! i'm finally feeling comfortable in my own body :)

    I'm a cis woman (I think that's how it's spelled, excuse me if it's wrong 😣) but I've watch every video you've ever made, from the beginning of your transition and I really enjoy every one. You've been so strong through this whole journey so far and though you have a long way to go til you're where you want to be, I know you'll come through this will fire works. You're truly an inspiring woman hon! I'm so happy you do these videos, I've really enjoyed watching your progress and you've really educated me on the subject of trans people. I know some people may disagree with your choices for surgeries but the way I look at it, is the same way I view body modification (like tattoos, piercings, plastic surgery, scarification, etc...) . People are going to do what they want/need to do to be happy with their body and most people won't bat an eye at them. So to anyone who disagrees with your choice of surgery, don't worry about her when you don't worry about anyone who goes to get a breast reduction or lip injection or even a tattoo. It's all the same at the end of the day, we all just want to be happy in our own skin ❤

      I'm dying my daughter's hair purple, the day after school gets out for the summer! (Stupid dress codes.)

    • @kellygail3081
      @kellygail3081 8 лет назад +3

      Proud Zionist When I was 14, I had this whiter than white blonde hair...I asked my dad permission to put in a few streaks of pink over the summer holidays. He said yes...I got carried away, made a few messy blobs and thought 'bugger it' and died my whole hair...
      When school term was back in, it was STILL a candy floss pink colour and wouldn't come out for months. The school was NOT happy.
      This was in the 90's when having coloured hair made you a 'freak' now, everyone has coloured hair, it's the norm!
      I don't get why schools are still fussy over this, the colour of your hair has no reflection on your intelligence or your ability to concentrate..it's ridiculous.

    • @LuckyBadger
      @LuckyBadger 8 лет назад +3

      I agree with you that it's ridiculous. Our plan is to ombre the ends of her hair, up to about her shoulders. By the end of the summer she will be in desperate need of a good trim.. Her hair is down to her waist now, but the ends are really split. If we ruin that part of her hair, it's no big deal to cut it off later..

    • @angelmansyndrom
      @angelmansyndrom 8 лет назад

      In one way I totally agree with what your saying. But looking trough a constitutions way of seeing things I can see why they make a fuss over it. A lot of workplaces wont hire you if you don't fit to a certain standard or have to many showing tattoos/piercing or whatever. And as well as it is silly and dumb (considering all these thing may not affect you brain or work) the policy of how you look is not directed to a certain person. It is directed to maintain the "look" of the company. And just as unfortunate as it is we do live in a very shallow and superficial world that is pretty much owned by companies. And schools are like a workplace too, for young people. Where they go to learn. So if you see it that way it makes more sense. All though it is still filled with dubble standards.
      We do see a slow change in these policys all over the world and more work on this needs to be done. But none the less if you do want go to a school/work and be respected by the company as an individual all you need to do is to try to fit in to their standards. In my opinion that is not a big sacrifice. As long as they don't tell you what to do when you are off the clock. Then they can go shove a screwdriver in their corporate asshole.

      Me too! Terrible memory. I have forgotten what I was doing WHILE doing it. It sucks so much. Anyway, talk with your doctor about using Ginko Biloba. When I was able to use it, it was like I had my old near-perfect memory. Sadly, I had to stop taking it because interfered with new meds I needed to take. I don't think it works for everyone, so if your doctor okays it, try it. It's worth a shot. =)

    i hope this doesnt come out wrong but i dont always watch your videos because im not really into beauty gurus and i also am a cis female so i cant always relate to your struggles. i do come back to your channel sometimes because i cant resist your cute, bubbly additude, your optimism and your kindness and acceptance. i have been following you for a while, actually just before you came out, so bravely, as a transgender woman. Everytime i come back you look more and more lovely and sweet and your voice gets higher and higher. i respect you so much. i am so proud of you and extremely happy that this new you reflects the you that you have always been on the inside. im trying hard to word this correctly, so i am sorry if i didnt. best wishes. ❤️

    Contour Corsets has some of the best, more durable waist training corsets ever. They are very expensive though, like $700-1000, but from what I hear, it's worth it.

      Any quality corset is going to be in that price range. If you're going to pay that kind of money though, make sure that it is custom made for you from scratch, with many fittings during the process. Lace Embrace in Canada, and Dark Gardens in San Francisco are two of the best out there. Years later, my corsets are still in near mint condition.

    Stef, you are so well-spoken & you do such a fantastic job of explaining your personal experience! Lovely to see your 6-month update & know that there's lots more to follow. I hope that anyone finding voice training challenging to do on their own also considers seeing a speech-language pathologist (SLP) who is trained in trans voice; the reason being, to prevent unintentional vocal misuse and injury.

    One thing that often confuses me is how you can ever misgender a stranger ? I don't say hey girl or hey boy to a stranger lol I'd just say hi, thanks, etc. to be safe you can always just say sweetie if you're a waitress or something because that's neutral.

    • @LlamaSocksRock
      @LlamaSocksRock 8 лет назад +33

      I understand what you mean - i always use gender neutral terms for strangers. my grandma has this weird habit though where she'll meet one of my friends and be like "what a cute girl you are!" or when complimenting someone "you're such a nice gentlemen," etc etc. I think it's just because she's older so she doesn't understand that gender is pretty much a social construct. I also have friends from the south of the US who say "ma'am" and "sir" a lot, I guess it's just a regional thing for them.

    • @melindaweeks2964
      @melindaweeks2964 8 лет назад +2

    • @goodstorylover
      @goodstorylover 8 лет назад

      It can also depend on the language, I think, in mine (Czech) we have something called verb conjugation and also pronouns change, so it is far more difficult to talk "neutral" - it would sound strange or almost impolite. I must also confess I sometimes confuse genders, when I do not know the people and it is not really obvious. I do not want to sound mean or anything, but it is hard to be always on the alert.

    • @carylslove6637
      @carylslove6637 8 лет назад

      +goodstorylover that makes a lot of sense, in America though I guess it's a lot easier because we don't have gendered language barriers

    So I'm a cis woman, but I have darker, thicker body hair and shave every other day when I know I want to wear shorts/swimsuits/dresses/etc. A long time ago, my sister recommended using aloe gel (the one you usually get to soothe sunburns) and use it as an after shave lotion and it really helps with itching and irritation.

    My FTM nephew has recently started on testosterone and I told him, "I want you to be happy but take care of your body and stick to the proper dosage." I've heard of trans men & women having organ damage due to incorrect dosing and he only started at 16 (now 17). He doesn't really have a "parent" and we (his uncles) are too far away to see him regularly. Have studies been done on how testosterone treatments can affect a still developing body❓If anyone knows I'd appreciate the information. Thanks! ❓🙂

    • @roberttherobot826
      @roberttherobot826 8 лет назад +2

      As far as I'm aware there's no damage directly from testosterone. However because your body chemistry become male, any risks for illnesses that effect males more increases such as heart disease. Other than that any other things you can find on searches are about women with high testosterone. Overall his happiness will be greater so its a good thing. I wish him look for his transition! :)

      Matthew, please make sure your nephew is aware that when testosterone is added to the body, some of it will get turned into estrogen. He'll probably need an estrogen blocker at some point if he's not already on it. Different doctors use different dosages, but the most important thing is his blood levels, so as long as his bloodwork is in line with what he and the doc agree on then the dosage doesn't matter as much.

    One problem, not really mentioned here, but could have a major effect is mental abuse your parents put you through, and not necessarily related to being trans. As far as I know, my dad never knew I was trans. His thing was to tell me how worthless I was, a drain on his finances, that I could never do anything right. Then add to that, getting sent to a Christian school, and getting bullied for being homosexual, and never mind that it's not true, and having that feed back into the whole your worthless abuse. My mother admitted to me that sending me to a Christian school was the worst mistake she ever made with me. She also had to recover from my Dad's abuse directed at her. If you are in this type of situation, go get help. It's not your fault you were abused. No, you don't become transgender by being abused, but it may lead to more abuse because people fear what is different, or the fear of the unknown. I've had it happen that I got barred from a restaurant that I like because one family thought I was after their 5 year old daughter. Had the family, and the manager of the restaurant only known, it was the manager I was chasing, and not the little girl.

    just would like to inform people, gender dysphoria and body dysphoria (or it's correct term: body _dysmorphia_ disorder) are not the same. while gender dysphoria is experienced exclusively by trans people (though it is *not* a requirement for being trans as there _are_ trans people who aren't dysphoric about their gender) body dysmorphia disorder or BDD can be experienced by both trans and cis people. BDD is a mental illness that falls under the category of obsessive compulsive disorder. the easiest way to explain BDD is if you have something about your body/appearance that you don't like, e.g the shape of your nose, you will be _obsessed_ with it. that is all that you could think about and the obsession is unhealthy as it may leads to risky and impulsive behaviour such as trying to "reshape" your nose. methods used to do so can vary from just picking off the skin to even break your own nose and "mold" it. this disorder cannot be cured with just having a surgery to reshape your nose as the obsession usually will always come back; there will _always_ be something wrong with your nose, so the best treatment would be therapy.
    gender identity dysphoria, however, is also a mental illness that _can_ affects both physical and mental; also possible to affect only one of them. it varies from paranoia of being misgendered, discomfort with one's own identity (especially for those who are still closeted or out but face rejection) to the physical ones like your genitalia, chest, facial features, etc. this may sounds overlapping with BDD symptoms but while BDD needs treatment, usually for physical GID a surgery is enough. in GID, the _wrong_ is on your _body_ whereas in BDD, the _wrong_ is on your _mind_.

    I've been following you since the beginning and I support you 100%. As a CIS woman I have PCOS which causes weight gain and hirsuitism. It's been a difficult road for me having hair growth on my face and body and I can deeply sympathize with you. I've been shaving my arms and face since I was 14. About 5 years ago I started laser on my face and it has changed my life. Luckily for most of my life I've been surrounded by kind understanding people who don't notice or mind my uncommon hairiness. I'll be here to support your journey. Xoxo

      +Temple Of Azure Flame I've actually kept up with several mtf transgender women on RUclips and a few blog sites to see what kind of processes they go through, so I have an idea of the surgeries. I personally enjoy watching surgeries but what I'm the most excited about is how happy she is once everything is done and she's all recovered. That's probably my personal favorite part of it all.

    I absolutely understand what you mean by how difficult it is to try and explain dysphoria. While I still see a therapist for things like my Bipolar Disorder and whatnot, I struggled a long time with body (and gender) dysphoria. I am not a trans woman, but I am gender fluid, and for the longest time I would wake up every day and just focus on my breasts (which are naturally larger - I used to wear a D cup). Much like how all the makeup in the world doesn't "fix" your dysphoria, wearing a binder for me didn't "fix" mine. Once I was an adult I actually had breast reduction surgery. They were not removed, but just made smaller and I felt much more myself. When I saw myself in the mirror for the first time I broke down in tears because I felt like this weight was lifted. I hope you feel the same sense of relief with your FFS, Stef. You deserve to be your happiest, healthiest, truest version of yourself.
