Excellent TED talk and this guy is an extremely effective communicator.
I couldn't just hold how realistic , accurate and astonishing this video seemed while I was watching
Your videos are really fascinating for me. I've always searched about sleep and dreaming. Always wanted to know the meaning of my dreams and why it has memories of the week I'm going through. This explains a lot ❤️ thank you.
Beautiful and clear explanation and animation ! Loved it
This made me smile. Our brains are so fascinating!!
This dude is the Dr Fauci of sleep. He was on Rogans podcast a few years ago and shared so much cool information. I have told so many people about the 2 occasions every year in the US when heart attacks spike.
Linkkk???
This clearly motivates me to continue with my decision of making a sleep routine. Good Talk.
Smashing advice. Thank you, Nigel Thornberry!
Excellent! Brilliant use of the proverb, "sleep on it(a problem)".
Wow, the mice repeating their learnt behaviour 10 times faster in their brains while sleeping blew my mind.

Bold of you to assume that we students have time to sleep
I'm a student too, engineering student in particular and I don't find myself lacking of sleep. It is just a matter of proper time management.

Thanks~ 😀
What has helped me with learning for a test coming up the next day, is that I take the materials just before going to sleep, go through everything for the last time and leave it beside my bed. I think it connects with the “replay” part, that my brain has fresh and new information to go through repeatedly while sleeping.
That's a terrible study technique.
It will not commit your memory for the long term.
You should practice information retrieval, spacing it out in increasing intervals, trying to explain the information in your own words etc.
You should watch a summary of "Make it stick", or, well, read the book.
It is rather life changing
Very interesting thank you
I think the animations and the metaphors were really well chosen- made it very simple to follow. Thank you for taking the time to explain this and help raise awareness on the importance of sleep.
Muy buena información, me gustan mucho este tipo de videos, gracias

Don't know about that but today i taught myself about molecular bonding while i was asleep. It was very strange and it's been happening for a while with me now.
I sleep and just before the time i wake up my mind does this thing where it teaches me the things i learned the night before.
It's weird.
Interesting
Thank You Sir #FromIndia

I love these series 🥰 anyone else also always yawns when the intro starts? 😂 they’re using this yawning sound and it make me yawn too
Sometimes silence can be louder than words.

This vid made me feel sleepy.
1:16 for the little piece of fact
Ahh, i remember his older TED talk, i once saw a comment referring to him as a literal "sleep walker"
Lack of sleep makes me remember things sometimes so that's why when there's a test or quiz,,,,I sleep late
Great! Tips! I'm learning English and Japanese..,😆this tip will be very useful
From my experience applying psychology in acquiring a foreign language is a great approach. Including all the relaxation techniques and of course sleep. Good luck!
Professor: sleeping is good for your brain
All people with insomnia: Noooooooo!
he wrote a great book!

Wow 😳 I'm already doing this since when I was 8years old
Which words u say please get print down them in tikkar sothat we can understand easily
So for memory consolidation, you have to sleep for long enough. But do you also have sleep as soon as you're tired? i.e. not have an all-nighter before then sleeping for an adequate amount of time
I want to know too!
Reminds me of Richard Branson.
Excellent vid though!
Does meditation have some of the same benefits as sleep? 🧘
Just trying to support you so you get an answer 🤗
@@NyanyiC Appreciate the support 🤜
It doesn’t have the exact same benefits but it can benefit anxiety, patience and the way you think. Meditation has way more benefits then what I just listed so you should probably look it up and do some research on your own.
@@kenoke381 Some meditators claim to go on less than half the recommended sleeping hours everyday. That's what got me curious about this. As you suggested, a little reasearch would provide a deeper understanding of this.
Relaxation techniques in general work in a very similar way. And if you are relaxed while and after meditating, then feel free to use it! Good luck!
2:19 that should read "Upload"
Just one correction at 1:59, shouldn't it be the other way round,
cortex is like a USB stick (working/short-term memory) and hippocampus is like hard drive (long-term memory)?
sleep
before learning
during learning
and after learning to make sure u get it
I just watched this before sleeping
Wow

This guy is putting me to sleep
Sleep is a save button
So what time do I study?
👍❤️
How can I organize my learning schedule considering sleeping before and after my learning practice?
Try the following :
Night- sleep.
Day- learning
Next night- sleep.
Does that help?!
I study
I sleep
I wake up
I forget what I have learnt 😐
Probably because you're not a Rat
♥️
Imma tell my teacher I need to sleep in class to better absorb the lesson
You didn't listen properly, before and after class
@@VladislavDerbenev didn't get the joke, huh
