- One of the most controversial cars in recent years of motorsport. The garage 56 Nascar entered Le Mans despite not conforming to any class regulations and by being in between GTE and LMP2 cars it has caused some discussion online about whether it should be allowed or not. Not sure how it was controversial....after all, they did receive an official invitation to participate. The car clearly held its own during the race and I think it generated a lot of buzz, no matter if you agree with it or not. That, and the starting position was agreed upon in the drivers meeting once everyone saw the pace the car had. I think the Garage 56 team would have happily started at the back of the grid...in fact, I think they were prepared for it. Turned out that it didn't have to be done. Honestly, you get the purist fans of any sport....the minute something is different, they don't like it despite it actually being a popular attraction.
Was it controversial? I’ve never heard about complaints for garage 56 nascar.
I loved the car in the race, but the NASCAR fans being all like "look it beat the GTE cars 'MURICA" was annoying tho. Other than that, it was really fun to see it at Le Mans. (note: not all americans/NASCAR fans were like this of course)
@@schijtnaam but it’s kinda normal a nascar beats a gte? It has better engine and is built to go fast. Gte are more for agile type of races so i dont get all this showing off
I had heard some people not agreeing with being allowed to compete as didn't fit in any class.

GM pulled out the big guns at Le Mans this year. They had the Cadillac hypercar, the C8.R, and the Garage 56 Nascar. Not to mention Chevy won the GTE class and Cadillac scored a podium finish.

The greatest sound in the world is 43 of those starting up their engines and revving the shit out of them on a stuffy Sunday afternoon somewhere in the American Mid-West.
Definitely more of a beefy sound. First time Europeans heard american muscle.

A solid tribute to the growling all American legendary LeMans powerhouses like the C5R, C6R, Panoz LMP, Saleen S7....the Camaro surely was a treat to the eyes and ears this year! ❤
You definitely mentioned some of the greatest racing cars of all times. Particularly the C6R.

Not gonna lie, hearing all them high tech cars against the brutal howl of a naturally aspirated Chevy(race modded) V8 at full chat makes ya feel some sort of way about Patriotism. Lemme tell yah, it's still dusty in here seeing and hearing this glorious brutality.

This is amazing lmao. Racing has been getting stale for a good while and seeing a Nascar keep up at Le Mans was refreshing. I do understand the controversy though but I enjoy fun things like this
I'm not a racing fan but I'm pretty sure that roaring car did its job successfully.

@@SchafdoggGTO I must not have made myself clear in my comment. You’re right that the Camaro was beating many cars, including LMP cars. It was spectacular. I’m saying it did more than just keep up. It was going toe to toe with cars above it in pedigree.

Thats the most American thing ever i love the sound of Lemans cars even as an American but the sound of an American V8 puts them to shame. Sounds like a Pitbull barking over a bunch of Chihuahuas

Fully support the entry! This is a car many gear heads like me own and it was such an excitement to see it appear at Le Mans. It was a 24 hour experience like no other! The sound of the V8, OMG, overwhelming!

Well for me it was that specific scene.
This is exactly the thunderous cross plane sound I miss from the C6R and C7R Corvette when they went to the C8 with the flat plane crank motor.

This car just proves that the GM Alpha Platform the Camaro is riding on is a very capable chassis. Chevrolet built an absolute gem of a vehicle with the 6th generation Camaro. Sad to see that they will axe the line-up once again. Hope this car returns someday.
Edit: I'm talking about the Camaro in general. The 56 car has a different chassis being a stock car.

It was nice to see it in the race. Not a fan of nascar been English. But .. its a testament to the cars endurance. and seeing it race on a track other than ovals.
Cup cars have been racing on road courses in NASCAR for well over 50 years...the more you know...

@@seawolf4846 aaah so what your saying is.. They lack the skill to pass with out interference. got it! Rubbing is not racing, rubbing is just an excuse to take out your rival. But hey everyone to there own I would like to point out there is also skilled racing where passing with out interference is considered a skill.. then there is the high speed bumper car (yes I am referring to the fairground ride call bumper cars) racing called nascar. where the race is interrupted repeatedly so they can fix the damage from said rubbing and resulting wrecks. I prefer racing where its the car driver and road and the skill to get round it with out the constant blocking of the race track and clearing of wreckage resulting constantly stopping the race. Where skill is required to pass with out stoppage and clearing the track of debris from said passing overtaking action. In my opinion racing should flow not stop start stop start stop start repeat rinse repeat until the very last lap.

What is "funny" is the Camaro is not any louder than the other race cars but the sound is in a much lower frequency range which like the duotone fog horn can penetrate around ships the sound of the "out of date" American push rod engine could penetrate around structures that the higher pitch of the other cars could not.
