Sting - contrabass, leading vocals, keyboards
Andy Summers - guitar, backing vocals, keyboards
Stewart Copeland - drums, backing vocals - Видеоклипы
I miss the Police. Why can't music today be more like this?
Every member of the band is brilliant. Stewart Copeland shines playing incredible drums above these gifted artists. So grateful to have been a young kid hearing this amazing band.
Magical: A time where three guys made music without auto tuners, without Katy Perry-like stage wear, without help from backline or back up singers. . .three guys on their own making magic. Amazing. . .
the best comment here . thank you
Insane drumming style
@bmo - I've known this version forever but have been picking up on all the detail in Stewart's drumming here only recently, like that roll at 1:17 :-))
@@mightyV444in his own class..
The stand up bass just adds so much added coolness.
Stewart Copeland you are the Best !!!!!!!!
damn what a great drummer
when in the eighties a concert was enjoyed without a damn smartphone in hand
By watching and listening to Stewart Copeland, that is how I really honed my Splash Cymbal technique. I really state that a lot of of my drumming techniques are Stewartian.
Stewart Copleand > Neil Peart
Copelandic...even
80 mph on I45.................Flying.... grooving to THE POLICE...........
That bass line is so damn genius as it allows so much space for Andy to strum but best of all for Stewart to fill!
There's the top line also, the vocal line .. 4 streams
God, for a below bpm, look at Copeland, he’s using the drum as the 3rd instrument, in a way, I have never seen before. I hope drummers take note. Your art is here, and if you missed it, your not a drummer. God bless
I love it .. the best trio ever.
2nd best... nirvana
LMAO! Nirvana copycated Police in many ways.
This, 4 sure, Primus, Jimi.. I will no vote 4 Cream.
and police copied the who and marley...
ummmm Rush
The police : a diamond with 3 faces - is that possible ?
I think the Police invented the sound of the 1980s in this one single concert!!! The foot synths, electric drum pads, flanger on Andy's guitar, Sting's modified bass sound, the Roland guitar synthesizer, its all there!!!
80 sound, realy???what a bout cure, Brayn Adams, tina turner, the boss,............good decade for music.not talking Michael Jackson trilher album.
If The Police invented the sound of the 80s, then how come the 80s sucked so bad? I mean, once The Police and The Clash were gone, the 80s became a freaking wasteland of new wave one-hit (album) wonders and god awful hair-bands, a hair band wasteland if you will.
I LOVE The Police and The Clash but I also kinda blame them for the shitty state of rock for the first 4 years or so after they split. In the in between there was literally nothing I wanted to listen to except The Smithereens, The Cult, Prince, Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.
Then things finally started to turn. Sonic Youth released Daydream Nation and NIN and Jane's Addiction's 1st albums showed up all within 12 months of each other. So the 90s really sort of started some time in '88 for me. Nirvana wasn't the beginning, they were just the formal announcement to the rest of the world that the 90s had arrived. And the final nail in the coffin of hair bands. Thank God.
Sorry, but the 80s kinda sucked. And I kinda blame Sting's ego, Joe and Mick's stubbornness and Topper's heroin problem.
@@jerryjanski551 Great comment. I watched a Peter Gabriel YT video the other night and thought "f*** it I'll watch old Peter Gabriel in action". Damn that guy still has the same unique voice, singing in pretty much the same key. What a champ. "4K - Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel - Verona 2023"
Wep the voice and the bass of Sting plus the drums of Copeland ! So good !!!
perfect song. Really how each of the band's instruments playing totally independently link in together. First single I ever bought.....all those years ago. Awesome.
I like this music too much!
Brilliant! Crowd went crazy! Best trio and one of the best tunes on planet earth!
Andy Summers' effect :)
Oh my God, Stewart`s drumming is from another universe.
I love when he plays an upright bass!~ Happy Birthday, dear #Sting! ~ I LOVE you!
I really enjoy watching this concert, not only were they on top of their game, but the audience was so into alot of the songs. Wish I could watch the whole show instead of trying to piece it together. Thanks for the post.
@zenyatta8708 - There ya go! :-))

Los 3 mosqueteros ( mosqueeters)... from Tropic Rock.....😄
What to say about The Police.. Unbelievable guys came from the Moon!
At the top of their game with great tunes and rhythms.....
Good audience rapport....
A meld of reggae, rock and sophistication.....!!
Seminal.
An example when the whole is greater than its parts.
LOL 1:54 amoeba fest in the crowd man!!!! That's my favorite part of this song too.
best konsert ever greetings michael Denmark
So great!
Nice poasting ...very powerfull band, dont forguet its 1980, musicly and visual...and sting wos a great voice.
That bass
One of the best version with the one in Kyoto
Best live band ever
KEEP IT UP ! KEEP IT UP ! KEEP IT UP! 😁
IYOOO VI YO YO YO ! IYOO VI YO YO YO 😎
Very clever strategy. The punk rock genre is mostly filled with bands who lack professional level musicianship and pop songwriting sensibility. So when you take these guy's musical chops, stewart's incredibly unique style of reggae inspired drumming, and Sting's disney-esque chord progressions / pop songwriting skills and andy sumner's atmospheric guitar sound.. you really stand out in that genre.
Can't believe after all these years no comments from Darren and Wayne lloyd and Jonny haliday raf laarbruch 1979/80
eyes the police best rock music riba roots
Vaya Bolaken bro, se me saltan las lágrimas
Musicians know about Stuart, but if you're talking to the average fan about the greatest rock drummers, the same 3 names are all you ever hear, John Bonham, Keith Moon, and Neil Peart* (who sadly passed away earlier this week. That is what led me here in a roundabout way) Someone a few years older than me will perhaps throw Ginger Baker and/or Mitch Mitchell* into the conversation.
It's way past time Stuart was included in this conversation.
Funny how they're all from 3 piece bands. Now that I think of it, Danny Carey (Tool, another 3 piece band) also belongs.
*most folks here are likely dinosaurs like me. For any young 'uns out there:
John Bonham-Led Zeppelin
Keith Moon-The Who
Neil Peart-Rush
Ginger Baker-Cream
Mitch Mitchell-Jimi Hendrix Experience
...and I forgot Carter Beauford from the Dave Matthews Band (I see you rolling your eyes, cut it out.) They're not a 3 piece but he's freaking awesome.
Copeland outlasted them all, because he knew how to be normal, yet the best. Mabye Copeland is the best, and nobody really understands him, except musicians like Baker and Rich.
I have always said that. Neal Peart doesn't even belong in the conversation. He plays great fills and solos... but this right here is the best!
Stings favorite song
Yeah, The Police were able to do it in spades live it has to be said.
Sting was really into the do yourself aspect of the band........he shows up and in that deep voice he says..... I'm downstairs 😂
👍👍👍
Quiero la polera blanca de the police ☺️
Se ve muy buena, a mi tambien me gusto, esta como para usarla con una chaqueta de cuero negra y salir a la calle 😎 y culturizar a los regetoneros y traperos
lol Copeland's drums at 4:08
His drumming at 1:50 gets the whole place going is seconds!!
One beat moved to the right
Its a electric contrabass??
Yes...see it in peter Gabriel elso.
Yes. Sting call him Brian.
Why cant any thing 2day 2021 b-like when the police were making hits singing, not on people!
a police t-shirt, really sting?
The time when he played this strange phasing effect on the bass ..
Too bad 🤔 ...
I actually don't mind it all that much in this particular song; I didn't like that he had it switched on during the whole show, though.
@@mightyV444 :it's a matter of taste..
at the time, this effect was interesting on the song "bring on the night", played with its four doubled strings.. (as long as the effect was discreet).. a pity that this little madness for concerts is so pregnant listening now.. I much prefer when he played with a natural fretless sound.. it was already for the time a big singularity compared to other pop groups who played with fretted bass.
@@okxtan2648 - Yes! His was actually the first fretless electric bass I'd ever noticed, when in '79 or '80 the back cover of one of my Sister's teenie magazines was a photo of The Police with Sting holding the P-Bass with fretless maple neck, and I was wondering "What's going on with *that* ??" I was too young then to understand the difference sound-wise, but it looked very unusual and interesting to me 😀
Walking in the Book
just like our version
Zero dislikes. Let's keep it that way butt pirates.
Somebody shoot the synth!
Look at all the sheople...making three men richer and richer..
Don't be so cynical. Just enjoy the music.
Look at all the people getting 1000x richer without contributing anything of worth to the world. At least these guys deserve it.
Its bad and off time cause Sting tried to get "innovative"
stfu, its live, its perfect
