Your guess about it being someone "embracing who they are" was not far off the mark. However, in the case where this song plays during the story, this is NOT a positive thing haha. Great video as always Marco!
Yeah it's a much darker tone when you realize it's Sirin completely burying Kiana inside her own mind in the lyrics, and singing about how Kiana is trapped just watching her body being used to lay waste to millions of people
@@HaibaneRakka571 As both Kiana and HoV were parts of Sirin's fractured mind he did get the part of realizing their real power right though. Kiana indeed was getting a realization of what she is and what she could do... with the caveat that she has absolutely no control then and had to watch as HOV devastated her friends and loved ones.
@@Riverlia yeah it's such a layered scene, I'm impressed by it every time I revisit the song. The line "while your visage fades away" is such a cold way to describe Sirin taking Kiana's consciousness and shoving it aside without any desire to let her exist again
To provide context: 1. Your confusion between "someone is falling" and also "someone is rising" is understandable. During this arc, and specifically the scene where this music is played, Kiana (the MC) falls and loses her persona/control of her body to her other half, Sirin (the Antagonist in this arc), who is portrayed god-like and powerful. It can also mean "Humanity is falling and the Honkai is rising" based on the entire cinematic itself. 2. Embracing oneself IS part of this, since originally, the main persona of the body is actually Sirin. In this scene, this is a BAD thing, given her aim is to end humanity herself. But whether it is bad or not, was not the point of the music, but rather awe-inducing epic of the "return of the Queen". 3. When you mentioned awakening, it's a very fitting word for this music. Sirin awakens and heralds the doom of the world. The cinematic itself is VERY doomsday themed.

4:24 OMG SO ON POINT!!! There's a character named Sirin who became like an emissary for the Will of The Honkai which is like the god of the Honkai. After playing Genshin Impact for a period of time, I checked out the sister game Honkai Impact out of curiosity and all I have to say is that its truly remarkable. Basically my thoughts, Honkai story is so much stronger than Genshin, but Honkai 3rd outside of its story content is really bland and lacks the immersion Genshin has, especially the character part, in Genshin I can run around using my favorite characters and do what I want, but in Honkai a lot of it is just few minutes battle and then out of it again in the main menu, which is why I still prefer Genshin over Honkai 3rd.
@@ok4405 Well Honkai story started to get rlly good a lil before the year that is when Will of Herrscher came (and even before that), Genshin is soon 2 years and still slow and boring as fk.

Wow, you're REALLY on point. Loved the reaction a lot, and I keep getting surprised by how on point you are. Both you and the people who wrote these music are incredibly talented. The character in question is sirin. Spoiler alert Im gonna try to explain it without using honkai terms. So sirin has lost her parents. She started resenting ALL of humanity for making her lose her friends and torturing her. That is when she got powers from honkai god. She became VERY powerful. Now we have a traumatized child with world ending powers, great. she killed millions of people. Then she was defeated. But about a decade and a half later, she was re-awakened. Now that is where this song begins. Her consciousness/soul lived on even tho she was defeated and physically killed, this consciousness was just asleep inside this other girl's body. You're fairly accurate in your analysis of this song, however, it does not depict someone who is good but pure evil but given her reasons why, you could understand. Can't wait to see your reaction to Nightglow
Nice analysis. If you want to make more reaction there is some sort of Thematik continuations with each song in Honkai. Befall is the first song to Kianas Storyline and it gets thematically continued by - Nightglow (Himeko), Starfall (Kiana), Rubia (Fu Hua) and climaxing in Moon Halo. Then there are Cyberangel and Dual Ego which have an own thematik with each other depicting a different Storyline of Bronya and Seele. And last but not least is Regression which is a song dedicated to on of the most complex written Antagonist ever Otto Appocalypse.
Oh gosh he/you actually did it that's so dope I hope it was worth it or at least enjoyed it and your analysis is just on another level I mean no suprise your an amazing singer your self
I'm honestly impressed at how accurate you are able to deduce the entire background from just the music. I've seen people react to the cutscenes and they still weren't nearly as on point as you were.
The Honkai cinematics are pure art, i like your reactions without videos so you can ascertain meaning from the song without the video interfering, but i highly recommend watching the cinematics in a stream or maybe post reaction.
I think the tough part of this song is that it follows two different people going through opposite things. The descending and cascading thing and pop aspects follow Kiana who is being trapped in her own mind and watching everything get destroyed while the awakening part follows Sirin who can finally get revenge on mankind for what they did to her.
As always you managed to figure out the meaning behind it. At this point I shouldn't be surprised but I still am. In case you're wondering what exactly happens in the game when the song plays - I can try to give a quick rundown. Spoilers for chapters 1-8 ahead. Also, even though I said "quick rundown" it's probably not going to be particularly quick. I'll try to be concise but there's a lot of context. So the basic premise of the game is that humanity is in a war of attrition with Honkai. What's Honkai? Imagine something vast and powerful like a force of nature, but it has a mind of its own and wants to destroy humans. The most powerful weapon Honkai has are the Herrschers - humans whose bodies were overtaken by a parasitic personality who also acquired godlike power. Each Herrscher has their own set of powers: Herrscher of the Void can open dimensional wormholes, Herrscher of Reason can imagine physical objects into existence and so on. The main character of the game is Kiana Kaslana - a young lady training to be a Valkyrie (a warrior specifically trained to fight against the Honkai). What she doesn't know is that she has a dormant Herrscher Core inside of her taken from a defeated Herrscher of the Void. Moreover, she was not born normally but grown in a lab to be the next vessel for the Herrscher of the Void as a part of Otto's plans (at this point of the story he sounds like a moustache twirling villain but actually his plan makes sense, sort of). At a certain point the core fully wakes up and overtakes Kiana's body, turning her into the next Herrscher of the Void. What follows is an epic fight with an army of advanced mechs being sent to stop her. However, this proves to be no more than a speedbump for her, as she wipes them out with very little effort. This song is played during that battle. So you were right about embracing one's true self, regaining power and so on. That's pretty much exactly what happens to Herrscher of the Void. BTW if you're curious how that whole battle went you can check out the animated short called "Will of the Herrscher". It's exactly the same cutscene as the one played in the game.
I still don't know a thing about Honkai, but the song popped in my recommendations over a year ago. I finished listening because no way would I miss on a Laure Shang song that YT actually served me. And indeed it's a Loran Shang song just as much as it's HoyoMiX song. Honestly, in a way, it's a match made in haven. Shan has always had a lot of grandiose songs with many different parts, from those that put instrumental upfront for a very long time to those where instruments are practically gone, singing with a lullaby-like voice, to opera, full-on pop, and even spoken words. All that in one song or separate. I'm glad that mihoyo made use of all of that. To Honkai nerds and music lovers I highly recommend you check other Laure Shang songs you won't regret it :)
in context this song is a terrifying call of the apocalypse. sirin reborn with full hatred of humanity is back and effortlessly destroys hundreds of mechas. she shows full power and confidence knowing nothing can stand in her way. she doesnt even kill mei as she knows how pitiful she is to stop the slaughter. i find this as well as honkai world diva to be a great balance for each other. the former is a song of "kiana" being a god, an untouchable being in both power and presence. on the other hand we have mei's song, it also resonates with power and strength but not of one for destruction. she takes the power from kiana, saving her in self sacrifice. even in the animations befall has mei powerless to do anything but watch and run from the queen of honkai and then kiana is unable to even slow or stop mei from taking on her sins. they both have to watch as their loved one hurt themselves and or others, yet one is full of anger and the later is nothing but pained to do such an act
Fantastic analysis once again. I always love to see people appreciate and analyze Honkai's music because I always felt the creative team behind Honkai went above and beyond with the music telling a story. I eagerly await the other Honkai Songs getting a vid!
Contains spoiler to the story if you read further: The song is meant to be by the dragon of the void queen or the herrscher who was trapped in kiana’s body for a while and has finally gained control over it and trying to complete her old dream to avenge her friends who were test subjects so the way how said in video to represent it is very accurate, Bella as the dragon is rejoicing the return of her queen and ready to serve her for her plan. If I’m correct the whole song is from the perspective of the dragon except the “fair moon lights” liner
This person is literally capable of ending reality. She was taken over by her power and she couldn't stop it if i remember correctly. like a split personality of sorts?
Mad props to you for accurately describing what the Song is about and the scene is plays over and also the composers at Hoyomix for making the songs so descriptive as well. I've recently started playing Honkai Impact, and the OST for Honkai feel more personal to the characters and scenes which I appreciate. Compared to Genshin OST which is more thematic (not sure if thats the correct term) and overall describes the character themes with the operatic performances and feels more like "Boss music" with its epic proportions and it has its own enjoyment. Absolutely love Hoyomix's composition for both games and giving each OST its own uniqueness.
I love listening to you figuring out characters I had to watch and read stories to figure out, such a cool ability. I was so excited to a Befall reaction and man it is awesome. LOVE THe confused face when the music didn't drop in the second part ! Thank you for the video it was great!! Looking forward to more of your videos! (You can check the animations in your free time, I think the songs are experienced better with the animations for company!)
i just started playing Honkai like 2 weeks ago and i'm obsessed with this song... your perception of the song actually really, and i mean REALLY, fits into the story, it's almost uncanny XD
Man playing honkai brought this piece home for me. It perfectly sounds like the end of the world viewed by it's destroyer, as they are now the overarching power, the choir their posse. It's just a fantastically powerful song with a bit of bittersweetness to it. I just never appreciated it before, and I shame myself for that.
Thank you for the comments at the end Marco. This whole time I thought I was clueless for not understanding the music as you do and not getting it "right". Where I find my thoughts going to often is a game I'm currently playing and how the music fits the characters there and their situations. Quite an enjoyable piece, thank you for sharing!
New sub. Your reaction, intuition, and analysis has a clarity to it that I really admire. It was especially striking as someone who is familiar with the story of Honkai so hearing you recreate the circumstances that are very very close to the reality of it is pretty impressive.
It still astounds me how you hit the mark in describing the exactly correct details in songs you review without having seen the context of the source, or videos these songs/ pieces were used in. When you said the title was “Befall” and it seems someone is cascading down from the sky, you immediately hit the bullseye there.
Just for fan fact mihoyo is the developers of Genshin and Honkai Impact!! And yes your guess isn't far from wrong!! There is a girl named Sirin and from some experiments she bacame a Herrscher (german word) a powerful being who posessed a main character in the game named Kiana and Sirin controls the honkai and the honkai monsters The story is very big in honkai and its very dark in some points!! Great reaction as always Marco!!
The fact that you got i think everything right while only listening to the music just proves how well of a job the composers did to convey the story even with no visuals
Hi, As I said in other comment (in other of your videos), I'm very surprised to witness how the musical analysis provides you a very accurated information about the characters even if you havent knew anything about the games. And yes all you have said is prety accurate about the character related with this piece. Keep going bro. You're amazing.
The (re) birth of The Queen. All hail! Honkai is a power of chaos that can give birth to Herrscherr, a god like being whose main purpose is destroying humanity. This song is telling a story of re-awakening of a herrscher with a very strong vengeance and hateful. Always love your interpretations and how accurate they are
After you have reacted to the song and dissected it, It would be cool to see a reaction to animated cut scenes that these songs play a long too and see how close you were with your interpretation. Everyone song released in Honkai is usually part of a greater animated short that is a climax moment in each of the story arcs.
As a musical empath(so to say) your takes are spot on. Your Unsung War vid really spoke to me and I'd recommend taking a look at some other stuff from the playstation 2 era franchises like Snake Eater or Heavens Divide from the Metal Gear series or the Fatalis phase 1 and 2 themes or the Safi'Jiva themes from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne! In terms of other gachas(such as honkai) I'd also recommend stuff from Arknights(stuff like Requiem, or Operation Blade) EDIT: I would listen to "The Stars at Our Backs" and "Succession of Light" before listening to the Fatalis themes and "Final Confrontation: Proof of a Hero" after phase 2 as the first two's motifs appear in phase 2 and Proof of a Hero is the main theme for the franchise
Also if I could recommend my favorite ost, I recommend Moonlit Melody from bloodborne, the ost makes me cry everytime I hear it and it gives me goosebumps, I think you will enjoy it
As a huge fan of Honkai this made me truly happy I loved to hear your opinions on befall! If you're interested, I'd love to see more videos on Honkai music! The music is one of my favorite things and I love to see others appreciate it! Genuinely so passionate about the music in this game so it was so nice to see you very invested in it ^_^

I would like to request “Rubia” from Honkai Impact 3rd, especially with the way you analyzed this one, I think Rubia would be a very good song for you to listen to. What the song portrays is, imo, even more complicated than what’s portrayed in Befall. It would be interesting to see what you make of it :)
Holy crap I was just thinking about what your thoughts would be on this song. Honkai is great, and I can't believe you've covered 2 videos in the time that I last saw a video. This was definitely the song that I most wanted to hear your thoughts on the vocals from Honkai. I know you don't usually watch any associated cutscenes with songs, but if you're ever curious, please look up the "Will of the Herrscher" animation.
Again , the dude giving his insight about the music tempo and lyrics without watching the actual music video. Again he already mention he don’t know about the game. #Respect
You got it all pretty well, it is about picking oneself up and returning in force. But the twist is, Befall is basically "boss music", and it's the evil boss that's back in force, not the heroes - and wins. The final chorus with those hard snares is just pure POWER and DESPAIR.
i love your videos sm!!! i think it’d be interesting where you maybe react to where/when these songs are played so you can see the context and see how correct you were? for specially genshin impact and honkai impact 3rd songs i’d be happy to help you with clips and whatnot if needed.

I'm honestly impressed at how accurate you are able to deduce the entire background from just the music. I've seen people react to the cutscenes and they still weren't nearly as on point as you were.
Forgot there is no 'finger snap' in the EP version ^_^
Btw, you nailed it again.
It's amazing how much the music express the actual context.
The Honkai cinematics are pure art, i like your reactions without videos so you can ascertain meaning from the song without the video interfering, but i highly recommend watching the cinematics in a stream or maybe post reaction.
I think the tough part of this song is that it follows two different people going through opposite things. The descending and cascading thing and pop aspects follow Kiana who is being trapped in her own mind and watching everything get destroyed while the awakening part follows Sirin who can finally get revenge on mankind for what they did to her.
for someone who didn't know about the game, and can guess the story just from music alone and almost perfect while doing it, WOW that amazing
Lol I’m a bit freaked out because I was really pulling at teeth with this one in terms of characterization
Contains spoiler to the story if you read further:
The song is meant to be by the dragon of the void queen or the herrscher who was trapped in kiana’s body for a while and has finally gained control over it and trying to complete her old dream to avenge her friends who were test subjects so the way how said in video to represent it is very accurate, Bella as the dragon is rejoicing the return of her queen and ready to serve her for her plan. If I’m correct the whole song is from the perspective of the dragon except the “fair moon lights” liner
It's kinda scary how on point you are about this song, well mostly the context makes it scary.
The mechanic vibes you said, I think it's to emphasize the theme of the game's story, a modern theme with cyber-kinda things.
I loved your reaction. Befall always gives me chills.
it just shows how good the music is in storytelling
I love your point of view, the way you feel every part of music and share your thoughs whit us is amazing!
🙏 thank you
This person is literally capable of ending reality.
You’re right in your description! Honkai has character anthems where as it feels like a lot of genshin music is programatic and there to tell a story.
Bro you are so accurate, you literally know the language of music. Love your videos man.😆
Your description was almost right on the money
Holy heck, despite claiming that it is hard for you to pinpoint anything this time you absolutely nailed it to a degree that is almost scary.
Bravo!
I was really worried about this one 🤣
I'm impressed. Stunned actualyl. You managed to tell an important Honkais story line part without even seeing the cinematic. Mark on!
Respect! 👏👏👏
I really like how you always FEEL THE MUSIC and you express it through your movements and expressions
I get chills every time I listen to this song. Replaying the scene in my mind *shivers*
How can you be so correct at pin pointing
You are amazing
Thank youuuu
Marco : *Expecting the song to go in a specific direction *
Befall : I pulled a sneaky on ya
After you described La Signora just hearing her theme it was an auto suscribe to your channel for me, You have super powers man
i just started playing Honkai like 2 weeks ago and i'm obsessed with this song... your perception of the song actually really, and i mean REALLY, fits into the story, it's almost uncanny XD
It’s all good!!!! You’ve got this
Hella impressed by how much you accurately figured out just from hearing the song and not even watching the animation/story at all. Great analysis
New sub. Your reaction, intuition, and analysis has a clarity to it that I really admire. It was especially striking as someone who is familiar with the story of Honkai so hearing you recreate the circumstances that are very very close to the reality of it is pretty impressive.
Omg! I’ve been waiting for this reaction!
thank you so much❤️ that was again almost perfectly on the mark - I wonder when we manage the first time to make you miss the mark 😂
DO NOT SAY THESE THINGS.
@@MarcoMeatball now I will make it my goal XD!
Lovely video, I’m also thankful for the reaction to honkai
It still astounds me how you hit the mark in describing the exactly correct details in songs you review without having seen the context of the source, or videos these songs/ pieces were used in. When you said the title was “Befall” and it seems someone is cascading down from the sky, you immediately hit the bullseye there.
I’m starting to get worried I’m setting a precedent I can’t always follow through on 🤣🤣🤣🤣
amazing video i love your analysis you manage to tell the entire story through your understanding of music
Just for fan fact mihoyo is the developers of Genshin and Honkai Impact!!
And yes your guess isn't far from wrong!!
There is a girl named Sirin and from some experiments she bacame a Herrscher (german word) a powerful being who posessed a main character in the game named Kiana and Sirin controls the honkai and the honkai monsters
The story is very big in honkai and its very dark in some points!!
Great reaction as always Marco!!
The fact that you got i think everything right while only listening to the music just proves how well of a job the composers did to convey the story even with no visuals
You're totally right. The only thing is that the character of this song is a villain.
Hi, As I said in other comment (in other of your videos), I'm very surprised to witness how the musical analysis provides you a very accurated information about the characters even if you havent knew anything about the games. And yes all you have said is prety accurate about the character related with this piece. Keep going bro. You're amazing.
🙏 thank you.
Super accurate just from hearing the music. It would be cool if you could watch it with the animation.
Good video, I like this. I can't wait you reach more Honkai music like this 👍
"a character with eminence power" literally capable of annihilating the whole surface of earth if she gets her full power.
Talk about an explosive start!
I showed this song to my friend a few months back and he started freaking out as soon as the vocals hit
In terms of other gachas(such as honkai) I'd also recommend stuff from Arknights(stuff like Requiem, or Operation Blade)
EDIT: I would listen to "The Stars at Our Backs" and "Succession of Light" before listening to the Fatalis themes and "Final Confrontation: Proof of a Hero" after phase 2 as the first two's motifs appear in phase 2 and Proof of a Hero is the main theme for the franchise
Genuinely so passionate about the music in this game so it was so nice to see you very invested in it ^_^
Right on point with your deduction!😲😲
I’m shocked lol
@@MarcoMeatball i suggest you to watch the animated shortfilm!
OMG, I love your videos and i'm a long time Honkai fan, so it's awesome to see you reacting to honkai. I hope you check out more music from it, it's full of bangers.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
U did a really good take on what its about and are very close to it!
I really recommend u watch the video its from, Will of the Herrcher, it will blow u away.
i like the intensity and flow of this song. it sounds sad but hopeful at the same time
As someone with a music and voice acting background, I sincerely appreciate your professional take on each song. I was quite curious how your opinion on this one and you certainly didn't disappoint. Your interpretations and your accuracy are always quite interesting. Consider me subscribed now :)
Thank you James!!!!!!!
Hearing this song will ALWAYS make me bow to the QUEEN of the VOID
Singer:尚雯婕(Laure Shang). In fact, most of the game's OST is sung by very famous Chinese singers, and they are very good, every song is great
Ohhhhhhhhh I didn’t know I looked up credits and couldn’t see it I’ll add that - *I added it*
@@MarcoMeatball It's no matter, I just want you to react to the rest of the game's OST as well,
Praise to our queen! The cinematic this is from got me to start playing honkai.
one of my favorite tracks. gives me goosebumps every time.
I watched it after. Really beautiful and dark!!!
Again , the dude giving his insight about the music tempo and lyrics without watching the actual music video.
Again he already mention he don’t know about the game.
#Respect
LOL
this guy just described the whole story just from the song
wow you said it asif you played the game, everything is to the point, this song gives me the chills every time i hear, great vid really great vid
You got it all pretty well, it is about picking oneself up and returning in force. But the twist is, Befall is basically "boss music", and it's the evil boss that's back in force, not the heroes - and wins. The final chorus with those hard snares is just pure POWER and DESPAIR.
Great video also i hope more honkai videos and may CGs too :)
i love your videos sm!!! i think it’d be interesting where you maybe react to where/when these songs are played so you can see the context and see how correct you were? for specially genshin impact and honkai impact 3rd songs i’d be happy to help you with clips and whatnot if needed.
Maybe part 2s in the future :) just music for now - more important to me than visuals :)
“It’s hard for me to pinpoint what this is about”
*Describes contexts perfectly right afterward*
Me: *“SO THAT WAS A FUCKING LIE !!”*
Haha funny enough some people say I’m completely wrong 🤣
Love your analysis on this track , keep up the good content marco ! Im glad i can watch your reactions on such a variety of music . I dont know if youwill see this ,but i would love you to react to A Lost Ark soundtrack called "Astalgia of phantasm" i honestly think it is made for this channel , i hope you see this , other than that thank you !
Patreon rrquest. It’ll come :) and thank you!
Marco! Great video as always. I'm curious as to your thoughts on "Invincible" from the Warcraft-franchise. Probably one of my favourite pieces ever.
Wow! U earned a sub and like here!
❤️
Bro, are you sure you haven't watched yet its animation before reaction coz holy cow you nailed it just using imagination while listening
nope!
The queen had returned from across the shore and in her return, the world would fear true power. For this was the power of one chosen by god, and all would know this and bow or fall.
