If's quite ironic that a character with such a sad past has a "lively/joyful" OST, while it's the complete opposite for almost all the other characters
I guess it's because Bronya is a character that doesn't get visibly sad despite her past being sad and isn't very emotional overall but is still trying to get stronger and helping her friends with their own struggles. She's very calm and collected while Kiana and Mei still struggle with their past and present, though the game's story has already progressed beyond that now and wraps most of it up nicely in the latest chapter since we're slowly approaching the end. It's interesting to look back on the story now that it's almost complete, the OST is part of that too. I'm assuming we're all up to date on the story here. So if you aren't, stop reading here. Kiana clearly had it the worst and by extension Mei too. Over the course of the game's story: Kiana learned she was a clone created to be an experiment, hurt everyone she loved when Otto unleashed the Herrscher of the Void in her, killed her mentor in the process and then lost Mei for a while because she was dying and Mei made a deal to save her. She then became a hero but the path to get there was bumpy to say the least. Oh and she doesn't even know she has a big sister that was the real Kiana yet. Meanwhile Mei was ostracized by everyone and caused a catastrophe in Nagazora against her will(prior to but tied to the game), was almost killed by Cocolia for her Herrscher core, witnessed Kiana become the HoV and suffer multiple times after that while feeling too weak to do anything, realized Kiana was dying and decided to become the HoT and join the "bad guys" just to save her AND THEN witnessed more "deaths" in the Elysian Realm. It feels really good to see her re-unite with her friends after all the shit they go through Bronya lost her "best friend" Seele(if you know, you know) for a while, was an assassin/child soldier, struggles with her relations with her matushka, willingly became the HoR to save Seele and only got stronger as a result, she helped a little when Kiana became the HoV and caused an eruption, pretty much got to help her friends constantly but was also sidelined a lot... Bronya really is just vibing and happy to be here in comparison to the rest of the crew.
@@Shinransa Just a question is Binaka older than kiana??I mean she is her clone but if I remember correctly ij one tye chapters lil "kiana" said she is my baby sister(referring to k423) like how much age difference?
I really love this after scene they include in the end, those incomplete pictures of Bronya in this synthetic kinda machine mind, the thing is, this is not a real memories they never happened or will happen, it's destroyed dreams of what could have been if Bronya had a life of a normal girl, attending school, being a gymnast or a dancer, owning a motorcycle, and wearing a dress for her wedding, but also it not actually dreams of Bronya herself she would not actually dream about things like that, it's what Seele wanted to see growing up beside Bronya but since she was unable too she did put her hopes and dreams in the machine she gave to Bronya to protect her, that's why it's gives Bronya skates so she could dance around the battlefield that's why it transforms in the motorcycle, that's why it gives her a beautiful dress, those things make no sense to be used as weaponry besides looking cool, which is essentially why they were chosen by developers, but they did put an effort way beyond of what been asked from them to justify it story wise.
Now that's an interesting perspective of the ending pictures. I assumed they were alternate realities for Brony that could have been, but this analysis makes sense too. I especially like the theory on why Bronya manifested the skates and dress. She's never struck me as the type to worry about appearances, so you have a possible explanation. To add on the Motorcycle thing, I think it's related to Bronya promising to take Seele to the sea, but I'm foggy on the details.
@@Kryto_Gaming yeah the alternative realities do make sense in the beginning since they are at the sea of quanta to begin with, I also thought about it but we actually have an Brony from one of the bubble realities, and outside of also having a bike, she is isn't it, so I found those pictures to be uncharacteristic for Bronya herself but an idealized version of Seele vision of Bronya and what she wanted to see in her, so I come up with this version instead, and it also makes allot more sense to show those pictures right after an action scene in this case.
I always thought of those images as different versions of Bronya inhabiting the Sea of Quanta, all connected by the Core of Reason as if their very existence was bound, by fate, to being HoR. That no matter how worlds vary, Bronya remained the same, with the same tastes, interests and abilities
This theme is basically three things 1. Bronya saying that she'll never give up. 2. She'll save Seele from the Sea of Quanta. 3. She will carry on the legacy of Reason.
My favorite thing about Cyberangel is the sheer “tonal whiplash” it creates during concerts. You’ve got Nightglow, Starfall, Honkai World Diva, Rubia, Moon Halo. All very emotional songs. And then sandwiched somewhere in there is this absolute banger, kickass EDM track.
What makes this especially interesting, is that in-game Bronya has suffered brain damage after her first trip into the Sea, making it so that it's *really* hard for her to express or feel emotions. She's almost a robot. In this scene, however, her emotions/determination starts breaking through as she is finally within an arm's reach of her goal.
Not quite right: Gem has repaired her nervous system, that's why she can skate (she is able to walk again). HoR power allows it's user to create matter and 100% real objects as long as it's user has full understanding how these objects are built/work
@@InquisitorSinCross Yeah, I'm aware of that. I was talking more about intention/musical/emotional side of things rather than how it was actually done/what had happened.
@@InquisitorSinCross that’s also not quite right - it wasn’t the Gem itself that healed Bronya, but Bronya using the Gem to heal herself. It’s a subtle yet real difference.
YESSS Cyberangel! Such a fun and upbeat song! Hanser is also the CN VA for Bronya so it adds an extra layer to the fun of this song! Good catch on the "bloodstained wings" bit. She does have a dark past. Before she was taken in to Cocolia's Orphanage, Bronya was an assassin tasked with killing Cocolia. She made a name for herself as the "Silver Wolf of the Urals". She's killed a lot of people and retains those skills despite having found a family and friends and someone to love. I like to think that's why the song is tonally the way it is. She finds genuine happiness in those connections she's made despite her inability to emote due to brain damage.
Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, in the behind the scenes video uploaded on the official Honkai Impact 3 channel, they revealed the muffled singing at the beginning of Cyberangel is actually Hanser's voice played backwards.
This is the song and moment that won the hearts of the fandom that initially didn't like Bronya initially to one of the most beloved characters of Honkai Impact. Me included.
It was also the battlesuit that finally got me to appreciate Bronya. Really disliked that most of her battlesuits were just "fire a few missiles" or worse "fire a non-tracking beam".
This song plays at a really triumphant moment in the game and it's so satisfying to see it after all the struggling to get there. Spoilers below: Bronya finally got her driver's license :')
@@DeliciousFriendHastur Is weird, Bronya is one of MHY favorite and more spoiled charaters, but she took a good amount of Ls lol, seems like that is going to change tho
@@chocolatesquirrel2002 even in lore, previous HoRs are always the weakest Herrscher. Creation abilities can never match the original raw powers they copy
Nice thanks for reacting! I think that the line "though my wings've been bloodstained and could never rid" is possibly talking about the fact that Bronya was the Silver Wolf of the Urals, a child soldier and mercenary, with one of the highest killcounts in the business before she got to meet the rest of the main cast.
Not only that, actually. Bronya and Cocolia were the one behind the Nagazora Honkai eruption (Nope, you can't put the blame on only Cocolia, both of them did that to find a way to save Seele, Bronya came in to capture the newly created Herrscher of Thunder but Kiana was already subdued HoT and save Mei). So there were a lot of innocent blood on their hands, Bronya decided to change thank for the friendship with the main cast while Cocolia stubbornly pushed forward for her daughters' sake, ended up even with more innocent blood as well as her daughters' life.
The part about "my wings've been bloodstained" was about Bronya being raised as an assassin, or that's how I always thought about it. It would be really cool if you listen Moon Halo after listening Starfall (I thing it's the last one that you have to react yet). Moon Halo is becomes even better with the background of previous songs to it.
This song. Hanser nailed it. And this moment in the story. This was the moment that won over my heart. The moment when Bronya became my most favorite character in Honkai Impact. And she still is my favorite until today. Only Seele, Mei & Fu Hua coming close. I can’t wait for the moment when Bronya will finally become the True Herrscher of Reason as in Herrscher of Truth. Cyberangel for real!
What I love the most is how Impactful this moment for the story and emotionally, this robot that's Bronya has was given too her in the prequel manga by Seele as means to protect her, it was the least she can do for her, the last present, since she can no longer be around trapped in sea of quanta, and it's only fitting that's this robot eventually becomes instrumental in saving Bronya herself and in saving Seele used by Bronya, and I love how it's treated in this short animation as something of a dance partner its not just a machine it has mind of its own it's an a protector its an extension is Seele will to protect her beloved Bronya and it's shown as this butterfly (which is Seele symbol) flying through synthetic environment of a machine mind giving it its will and purpose.
To say a couple of things about the battlesuit you see here, this is the scene where Bronya obtains the Gem of Desire, which is the keystone inheritance for the Herrscher of Reason. The primary ability of the Herrscher of Reason is to recreate, based on the memory of the wielder. Bronya is unbelievably good with machines, so most of the stuff the core lets her create are augments and upgrades to her big battle bot, Project Bunny 19C. She also uses this to do things like create those sick, unusable-looking roller skates you see her suddenly summon out of nowhere. As far as the abilities Project Bunny displays, most are available through gameplay: the finisher to her basic attack sequence makes her completely invulnerable from the front and sides, which is emulated by blocking the big laser beam. When you do her ultimate ability, you actually summon a motorcycle, and a much smaller amount of laser guns than you see here, sadly. When you do a normal attack with the motorcycle, it deals insane damage, but consumes meter, which is why her stuff was flashing red when she plowed straight through the monster. I just geeked out really hard when you finish the cutscene and then the next level actually lets you use the abilities you just watched get displayed, instead of bearing no resemblance to gameplay whatsoever.
I screaming! Herrscher of Reason Bronya was my very first 5 star character, and she's still my favorite character in the story. I never thought that Marco would react to Cyberangel. _I'm not sure if you knew this but Hanser is the CN voice if Bronya! Which makes the song all the more greater!_
the first time I watched Bronya's cyberangel trailer, about 2 years ago before release, I was crying. Yes. It's beautiful.Even I'm crying again right now watching the animation.
Sometimes I think "I wonder how Marco is doing," and then here I am enjoying the songs and the reaction and analysis to them. Something about that beautiful heart of yours is more of what the world needs.
Nice little bit of trivia that I just connected for me: "there's no exception in this library" is a reference to software function, which thematically ties into the robot, and the way her powers work, 'Cyberangel', etc. But specifically, I'd translate it as: "this software does not fail unexpectedly, and give up. If any problems do occur, they are handled by the software, you don't need to worry about that". Which is a smart way of describing how competent and driven Bronya is.
Good old Cyberangel, this song never gets old nor does the animation :) If u want to know some more about both Bronya and Seele, look up Azure Waters, a manga that gives u some backstory on both of them. Btw, the Robot Bronya always has with her is called Project Bunny, couse she adores bunnies even when she's a adult in the A Post Honkai Oddesy story.
The timing of that song could not have been better. The amount of suffering we went through to get here, then seeing Bronya, just for once, properly smiling with an upbeat song? A Honkai Impact character getting a good ending? Unheard of. Bronya and Seele are my favorite characters in the story (not counting the recent 13 Flamechasers story arc.)
It's time to give some background: in this game there are a multitude of dimensions called bubble universes separated by the "quantum sea" which is where this CG takes place. A little before he recovered the core of a boss (herrscher) that was sent into the sea. Bronya's mission is to get it back but she gets lost entering several bubble universes over and over again until in one universe she comes across Seele, a girl who was with her in the orphanage where she was and realizes that she was the real one and not the one from the bubble universe, she gave up the idea of finding the core to save herself and finally after being trapped she falls on the core and tries to take control of it to save herself and her sister but the core is too powerful and the corompt and while she was hoping to save seele it's seele who saves her and accepts in her not the core she was hoping to find but the one of the 1st herrscher who had also been locked in the sea. She became the herrscher of reason, which has the power to create anything and the rest you already saw ^^
For a better understanding of Bronya and her robot (Project Bunny 19C) I would recommend reading the manga "Azure Waters". And will provide some context to the "blood stained wings" line. Love your videos!!
Finally, Cyberangel. One of my favorites songs of HI3, sometimes underrated because of how different this songs sounds compared to all of the other masterpieces. But in reality it really complements what Bronya was, and is. Also, cool to note that the singer (Hanser) is the CN voice of Bronya.
A real triumph when this animation came out and the theme fits to Bronyas personality I didnt liked Bronya much when I was playing Honkai but after this animation and this theme I started to like her Amazing theme and one of my favorites
Among the main trio, Bronya was the only one who was able to grab hold of a proper happy ending. The other 2 had bittersweet endings. Bronya's ending on the other hand was just happy. She didn't need to sacrifice anything important to her and was able to complete her goal.
This one is another good deep dive Opera Uncle. Fun Fact: this is a rendition of another song named Angel of Sin. Which is also Bronya's theme song in Hoyo's earlier game, GGZ.
There was a time I've been listening to this nonstop. I've been her fan since I got to learn about her character and story and she recently got upgrades in the game. Now she's drifting for real
I don't know shit about Honkai, and to be honest I kinda want to play, but at the same time my bad experience with genshin is stopping me from. However, Marco vids are great for both discovering the content in both its music and animation aspect, I might get hooked at some point if this continue lol. Anyway thanks Marco for another great video!
For what it's worth, I, an internet stranger, Vouch for Honkai I started honkai not too terribly long before Genshin iirc, played both the same time, ended up dropping in and out of Genshin but still play honkai almost daily like 2 years later The story is 11/10 and the combat is hella fun with lots of creative character types.
@@MarcoMeatball I implore you to do so! You will feel such incredibly deep emotional attachments to the characters, it's actually insanely impressive! And the way the music is utilized in moments, the tracks you have yet to hear and the fill context behind those you have... ahhhhhh it's nothing short of bliss. I can list on one hand the amount of games that have gripped me as deeply as Honkai has.
Overall I’d say you can definitely get into Honkai. I’ve been an on-off player (mostly off) since late 2018 and it’s an enjoyable enough experience if you just take the game casually as a side game and don’t focus too hard on trying to go heavy in the sweat modes (Singularis, Arena, Elysian ranking.) Just play the game for the story music and characters and you’ll be fine. Overall gameplay, while very different from Genshin, is more straightforward and streamlined with significantly less pains to deal with *cough* no artifact RNG determining majority of stats *cough*, and the action itself, while not as good as Punishing Gray Raven, is a perfect middle ground between something like Genshin to something like DMC/MG:R/NieR/PGR and the button mashing is more like a rhythm than a combo system, with most new characters being heavily cinematic focused over skill-based inputs to maximize dps. All in all, it’s this sort of design that was the reason I’ve been on-off with the game for the past 4 years as by itself it didn’t satisfy my action combat itch because of those focuses and the combat pace being “slow” (or rather slower than a DMC game which is the golden standard for action combat, still faster than Genshin however). As for f2p friendliness, I’d argue Honkai is better than Genshin so long as you take the game casually, as character pity is 90 instead of 150-180 and weapon/gear pity is 50 (of 4) with decent enough rates that you’ll probably hit at least half the stuff on average before you can ever get to the full 50 for one piece. The downside is gems themselves for pulls are much harder to come by and the cost of pulls is higher at 280/2800 1/10 respectively, but because of how old the game is this is generally circumvented as recently and during the anniversaries (CN/Glb respectively) they’ll commonly give out free selectors to add an older unit of your choice to your roster from a small selection of options, so that will be your main path to collecting. Old limited units also get released eventually into a currency shop that you can get from the ranking stuff (or best advice returner rewards shops) that after grinding you can select the unit you want to get to add once you get enough of the currency. And coming off of this, if you like Raiden in Genshin, the character she was based off of is going to have the most recent (at the moment) version of her given for free in the upcoming patch as part of an event I believe. Ultimately, Honkai is a great game to have as another casual side game just like Genshin makes a great side game, but if you prefer to scratch that true action game itch like playing a free Devil May Cry, NieR, or Armored Core game, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Punishing Gray Raven. Overall design and function wise PGR is very similar to Honkai as Kuro Games took many of their overall model and focus inspiration from Mihoyo, so there are many system overlaps, but the main differences are that the combat is faster-paced on par with traditional quality action titles, PGR is even more f2p friendly with only 60 pulls pity at 100% guarantee for new released units and 70(target)/30(random) for older units in the regular pool rotating banners, or you can opt to get an alternate unit type known as a transcendent that has the same 100% for newly released and 70/30 for older characters every 10 pulls and to get them to perform similarly to what you may expect from a regular character you can hyper invest into that character for 60 pulls if you like them a lot and there are virtually no limited units (besides collab) as new S ranks get added to the common and rotating banners 2 patches (months) after release. On top of all of that, character weapons are permanent and pity at 30 pulls with an 80/20 rate and if you just do your daily/weekly mission you’ll get at least 1200 currency consistently whiteout much effort which equates to 48% of a 10 pull at almost 5 pulls, compared to Genshin’s 3 pull average (38%), while every other piece of equipment that you would need after these is all farmed completely freely with no RNG besides when optimizing for endgame. The only downside is that PGR highly benefits on having many characters built to do challenge events down the road and that building characters is slow and similarly costly as it is in Genshin, but besides that, PGR has a major highlight with practically ALL of its music being bangers, the story is a slow start but after the first patch’s chapters everything since has been CONSISTENTLY good, and the boss fights from the mid game are ABSOLUTE banging highlights and are more than just a spectacle comparatively to Genshin as Genshin major bosses are mostly cinematic, whereas most PGR bosses are a practice/skill check and have unique gimmicks and/or some with phase changes that actually make them more aggressive and harder to hit but weaker defensively and still have a similarly cinematic feeling without the need to make use of long, unskippable, and falling transitions. TLDR; to put it lightly, Punishing Gray Raven to me is basically the best action mobile gaming experience you can have on the market currently, and if you want, you can wait on Wuthering Waves to have as an option for an open-world variant that’s paced like one (basically what all the Honkai guys were hoping Genshin would’ve been.) The one last thing I forgot to mention though is that PGR’s story is expressed like a Visual Novel, with very little voice acting or story cinematics until some of the more recent parts of the game, but it is thanks to this that we can get more detailed and varied story patches.
Honkai animations are always a blast to watch. They are so well directed and the songs are so good. How Hoyo is managing to create music on this high level all the time astounds me. Still hope to hear Oaths on the channel! It's my fav song from the game.
Bronya Hersscher of Reason is inspired by Magical Girl Motif Also theres another version for Cyber Angel song, where its really vocal, it took me a week of searching to find that version since it was part of an event from GGZ(also a Mihoyo Game) that was use only once in an event if i remember correctly
this is one honkai song that took me a while to love, since I'm not that in to this genre. I think it had something to do with the animation too (the latter part), like I feel like it could have been implemented better, but that's just me. What changed me is listening to Hanser live, and I just started loving and enjoying the song as it is.
Chapter 10, 11 and 12 are a bit of calming after the absolute shock of chapter 9. This is also first time we are introduced to concept of Quantum Sea and parrel universes so its kinda confusing if you dont pay atention. Also the way how chapter is structured is quite grindy and monotonos. Its basicaly permament event. The story is between all those long fights so you may not catch up the glimpses of important lore there. I really hope they will remake it because its the last hard to swallow part before they figured out how to narrate enjoyable chapters later. And then they fck up it again with Open Worlds in chapter 25-33
Potential Spoiler Warning (maybe) Bronya is certainly a character defined by her strength of will. As the Hersherr of Reason, this scene is Bronya accepting the Honkai Gem to become a Hersherr to save her Friend from eternal/endless suffering.
@@thedom2753 yeah, I don’t think it’s the first time in the Current Era (so eliminating “that” discussion from the get go) that someone became a Herrscher without causing a Honkai disaster, because I think it was also a peaceful transition to Welt Yang, but as players it’s the first time we witness a peaceful Herrscher awakening.
My favorite thing about this song is actually how nerdy the lyrics are. "There are no exceptions in this library" is actually the nerdiest bit of lyric I have ever heard and I love it
One important aspect is about why Bronya's OST is techno - In the entire cast of Honkai Impact, Bronya design concept is all things technological, and is the only one whose themes strongly revolve around it. Cyberangel made a very strong impact in the year of its release because sequentially speaking, after all the heavy dramatic themes like Befall and Nightglow washed us over with sorrow as the chapters progressed, we were treated to a more upbeat track that isn't completely about tragedy and despair, unlike the former mentioned songs. Of course, the lyrics to her song isn't all about joy and rainbows. Yet for the first time, we witness the triumphant birth of a Herrscher on OUR side, through this song. It was simply beautiful.
Unsure why I didn't think I'd see this covered on your channel, but I'll tell you I was happy to see it. Cyberangel is one of my favorite songs from the Honkai soundtrack.
I found it interesting that the lyrics say stuff related to programming such as "exceptions", "corrupt binary" "Querying for a variable" and "recompile my destiny".
This was her transformation/ awakening from a Valkyrie to the Herrscher of Reason, and her core power is the ability to create from nothing anything she understands fully - and she fully understands how that cannon of hers work, hence so many of them popping out at once. The lore actually refers to this as "a traffic accident". xD Anyway, here's a clip that might be interesting to you. Not a games video clip but a music one. ruclips.net/video/hlkCZPtnOwU/видео.html
In my opinion definitely not the most impactful one, but still a great song and animation and I'm so glad you're reacting to more honkai!! Can't wait for you to listen to the few remaining songs and watch their associated animations! By the way, which one was your favorite song and which was your favorite animation so far?
The cinematic where you can hear it will forever stay as my favorite in HI3, I replayed it so many times... I whaled for her character in the game because of that XD
“Suffering” is basically an understatement when describing Bronya’s life up to this point in the game, from being a victim of the Second Honkai Eruption that destroyed Siberia, to, well, everything that happens in the Azure Waters manga and all that happens in the 11 chapters prior to this cutscene. She has received countless physical, mental, and emotional damage and disability (why she’s always seen floating around on Project Bunny) as well as been betrayed by those she trusted the most. Through all of this struggle, one thing has remained constant: her drive to be reunited with and to save Seele, and Cyberangel represents her biggest step to this goal.
Bronya! Cyber Angel is such a nice beat to move to and once again you do a pretty good job analyzing it though your missing some key info that mislead a few parts, if you wanna know a bit more about Bronya and Seele theirs a video called Azure Waters that shows what happened with more Honkai music :P Summed up simply this is the moment Bronya Became the Herrscher of Reason which is the reason for the fancy reconstruction abilities and her Mech companion/familiar/thing becoming able to transform into a bike (its name is Project Bunny 19C and has been with Bronya for a while but its usually hidden in another dimension) and before people start pointing out details about what i said i'm intentionally keeping things more vague and less complicated incase Marco wants to play Honkai himself one day also Bronya best girl! Fight me
This theme is my third favorite honkai song only second to Moon Halo and The day you and the stars disappeared (hoshi to kimi ga kieta hi) should take a look at that theme.
You said “buoyancy” and she is literally fighting and navigating in the Sea of Quanta, which refers to the chaotic space outside of and between all the bubble universes in the game’s narrative universe
Loved this song! This song was originate from HoukaiGakuen2 being one of the baseline BGM called Angel of Sin which also representing Bronya theme song. However the story there was not indepth during the release making it pretty bland between story telling. Really appreciate HOYO-mix remaking the song into such masterpiece. Also, another BGM is Honkai World Diva, which is the same on Honkai Impact 3rd, but just a newer record with better sound and music quality. Hope that you will take a look on HoukaiGakuen2 Event OST/Theme song someday, as theres some channel on youtube dedicated on uploading them.
Years ago, when I finally got to this ending, it just blew my mind. Like most of the Queens of Honkai, they come from much tragedy. Bronyas path up to this point was nothing short of tragic and rough. Like all the Herrscher transformations vids this one was Excellent. Have you done Lament of the Fallen?
You should see the equinox gate preview from honkai as well, it has an interesting soundtrack and you will definitely like it. This episode happened before dual ego both Bronya and Seele saving each other.
Bronya is a disability Icon. She learns and recreates technology to support her biological limitations, not just through the "magic" of honkai but with applied Robotics and Engineering (which she continues to study & work in advancing not just to improve her Herscherr Capabilities but to make these technologies possible without honkai [magic], refining and extending the capabilities of tech beyond war against Honkai - we see this most evidently in her talks with Welt, in her appearances as Silverwing, in her "throwaway" dialogue). Bronya doesn't get magically "cured" of her disabilities or her traumas: she studies, works incredibly hard to replicate what her herscherr core is capable of with human technology, applies her all to make her a stronger asset for humanity (which incidentally includes giving her more mobility, through mecha and biotics and [neural linking]). I always feel incredibly proud of Bronya, when I see her hovering with Project Bunny, straining to walk in her Wolf's Dawn suit (which I assume has cybernetic limb bracers, going by the design of her "stockings" and her movement in animations), jumping & flying as Silverwing (Project Bunny more compact and streamlined than ever). Honkai Impact has a surprising number of disabled and otherwise chronically ill characters in its cast: not just Bronya but NPCs such as the orphans Raven takes care of (survivors of Honkai Events), civilians in chapter stages. It can get kind of lost/forgotten between the blurring of sci-fi and dystopia but, between the youthful anime faces and body types are a cast of survivors determined to make normal life possible even in an apocalypse. Tesla, Einstein, Bronya, Welt, Raven - I imagine that Vill-V and Doctor MEI did similar work in the Previous Era (between the dubiously moral genetic experiments with Mobius, that is). I still remember meeting Wendy and the excitement of seeing a young wheelchair user. There aren't a lot of "good" ways to quickly identify characters as disabled or chronically ill but seeing the use of mobility aids over "fixed by magic now" is refreshing. I do side-eye the lack of scarring on the characters in their skimpy suits (Mei straight up had heart surgery like... twice? within the first few chapters??) but, eh, "anime" bodies... would probs be "distracting" to have these anime girls running around covered in road rash and surgical scars. ^_^;
Haha, I see the same dance with all the streamers watching Ciberangel. Makes me want to dance too- I think this is the only (official) honkai animation that's not tragic or sad. Well, Bronya watching all her other "self" living a happy life without Honkai is kinda sad but still-
Fun fact, project bunny, the name of the robot belongs to seele she gave it to bronya, latest trailer show seele riding it in bike mode, i guess bronya finally give it back to seele or its because she cant use it because her driver license is confiscated? 😅
Wing bloodstained, as other commenters might mentioned. Bronya was a child soldier who had killed lot of people in the past. Interesting how you mention playfulness for Bronya, despite Bronya doesn't display much emotion on her face and being deadpan, she is also quite the gamer lol.
@@sukidesu9755 her “mother” (at least in HI3rd, dunno about HouGaku2 and Star Rail) isn’t biologically related, unless you mean someone other than Cocolia. But either way they’re both Russian though, so a decent shared gene pool either way. In Bronya’s case though I think she might be mixed Russian and Far East Asian. But well, I’m just assuming based off her early release Valkyrie suit model names (specifically Yamabuki armor), but you could just chalk it up to that Yamabuki is how it is because they’re in the Far East branch of Schicksal and was designed there. But it’s just something to note as all of Mei’s early suits were themed around Japanese aesthetics to signify her heritage (and intended combat style archetype), while Kiana’s early suits were all generic sci-fi “this is what you’d expect a character to wear in a sci-fi semi-futuristic alternate universe that fights off an trans-dimensional alien menace”, Himiko also followed the rule of thumb as Kiana did as she wasn’t the designated Katana character and her name alone spoke to her primary heritage. Overall Bronya having some non-optional theming around a Japanese name at the very least implies she could be mixed, as given marriage laws if her mother was from Japan, SEA, or similar she’d have dropped her surname when marrying Bronya’s father. But well, that’s just a personal opinion of mine based on some very loose info and assumes her father isn’t the one that’s asian (theory falls apart otherwise), in the end she could just very much be pureblooded Eastern Russian as they also fall under categorization as Asians. Cocolia on the other hand is heavily skewed to Western Russian and has clear Caucasian heritage.
Wanted to watch yesterday when this video was released but my internet decided to disconnect at the same time. Fun. Anyways, you're on point as always. Bronya is my favorite character in the game so I'm happy to see this review. Some backstory/explanation of the lyrics and the cutscene. Spoilers (obviously). The cutscene takes place in the Sea of Quanta (sort of a space between different universes, so it's outside of the reality where most of the game takes place). Bronya is there to retrieve the Herrscher of Reason core, but also to find Seele (who got trapped in the Sea of Quanta quite some time ago). In fact Bronya finds and grabs the Core in this very cutscene. The interesting thing about current era Herrscher of Reason is that it doesn't harbor ill will towards humanity, and actually switched sides pretty early on. Despite that, it still radiates Honkai energy (as all Herrscher cores do) so it is harmful to humans. You can see red glowing lines appearing on Bronya's face - a telltale sign of Honkai energy exposure. I believe that this is what the lyrics "corrupt binary code infecting my mind" refer to. Once she acquired the Core Bronya got the ability to use its power - manifest objects into reality with the power of thought, as well as modify existing ones. This is how she turned her prosthetic legs into rollerblades, and her robot (project bunny 19c) into a transforming motorcycle, and that's how she created all those laser guns to take down Tlaloc. Speaking of the lyrics. It might seem weird that Bronya uses computer terminology to refer to what is happening to her. It actually makes sense, because she is a cyborg. Because of the damage she sustained as the result of the X-10 experiment (the orphanage that adopted Bronya and Seele was a front for secret research, and the orphans were used as test subjects - the world of Honkai Impact is not a happy place) she has robotic legs and a biochip in the brain. This is also why she appears emotionless and refers to herself in third person. What I'm getting at is that she thinks about herself in computer terms because she is (partially) a computer. The part about her wings being stained with blood isn't just an empty idiom. Before getting adopted by the orphanage Bronya was a child soldier.
Forgot to mention - when a playable character does something cool in a cutscene in Honkai Impact then usually they can do it in the game as well. Yes, Bronya can actually transform her robot into a motorcycle and summon those laser guns.
there is funny thing, music dev said they trouble for looking an instrument into the music, and finally they found hanser voice can change and fit it perfect to music.😂
Hi, I'm really thankful for your comments on Cyberangel and Hanser and the animation, I think your comments are very great, but I highly recommend that you can watch the Chinese version of the animation, Idk why miHoYo likes to use the Japanese version for overseas server. Still, in my and a lot of Chinese players' opinion, we think that the Chinese ver. is more emotional. Thanks.
Marco i think its time to watch everlasting flame i was going to ask you this before and time it yesterday for kiana's birthday but been busy with projects and stuff so been late to recommending it.
Bronya Herrscher Of Reason was my first Herrscher in this game, that's why she has an special place for me, also because she came home on the first 20 pulls of her debut banner. I lost my mind when she appeared twice on the second 10x pull. Edit> She is also the first I managed to ascend to SS rank.
Hey Marco I meant to mention it way back when you were doing your EndWalker videos but you should definitely check out on your own time of course the metal cover of Endsingers battle theme when Hearts aligned by Skar Productions. I definitely think you'll like it especially the female vocalist absolutely killing it at the Opera portions
Speaking of Honkai, you should watch the animation for befall. I loved your analysis of the music itself, but I really wanted to see your reaction to the animation as well

was actually gonna request to review honkai world diva but you actually reviewed it and some popular HI3 songs. thanks! that should save some trouble 👌
If's quite ironic that a character with such a sad past has a "lively/joyful" OST, while it's the complete opposite for almost all the other characters
Because hanser just cant be sad
It feels really good to see her re-unite with her friends after all the shit they go through
Bronya lost her "best friend" Seele(if you know, you know) for a while, was an assassin/child soldier, struggles with her relations with her matushka, willingly became the HoR to save Seele and only got stronger as a result, she helped a little when Kiana became the HoV and caused an eruption, pretty much got to help her friends constantly but was also sidelined a lot...
Is Bronya Prometheus or are they different?
@@Nillofarsadeghi look at this guy dropping huge spoilers for those that arent that far (im pretty much caught up refering to others reading this)
I really love this after scene they include in the end, those incomplete pictures of Bronya in this synthetic kinda machine mind, the thing is, this is not a real memories they never happened or will happen, it's destroyed dreams of what could have been if Bronya had a life of a normal girl, attending school, being a gymnast or a dancer, owning a motorcycle, and wearing a dress for her wedding, but also it not actually dreams of Bronya herself she would not actually dream about things like that, it's what Seele wanted to see growing up beside Bronya but since she was unable too she did put her hopes and dreams in the machine she gave to Bronya to protect her, that's why it's gives Bronya skates so she could dance around the battlefield that's why it transforms in the motorcycle, that's why it gives her a beautiful dress, those things make no sense to be used as weaponry besides looking cool, which is essentially why they were chosen by developers, but they did put an effort way beyond of what been asked from them to justify it story wise.
@@Kryto_Gaming yeah the alternative realities do make sense in the beginning since they are at the sea of quanta to begin with, I also thought about it but we actually have an Brony from one of the bubble realities, and outside of also having a bike, she is isn't it, so I found those pictures to be uncharacteristic for Bronya herself but an idealized version of Seele vision of Bronya and what she wanted to see in her, so I come up with this version instead, and it also makes allot more sense to show those pictures right after an action scene in this case.
woah, i dont think it like that... what an insight, i just know that the scene were alternate realities too...
Other than that, the Herrscher Core allowed her to dress herself in any way she see fit.
I always thought of those images as different versions of Bronya inhabiting the Sea of Quanta, all connected by the Core of Reason as if their very existence was bound, by fate, to being HoR. That no matter how worlds vary, Bronya remained the same, with the same tastes, interests and abilities
This theme is basically three things
1. Bronya saying that she'll never give up.
2. She'll save Seele from the Sea of Quanta.
3. She will carry on the legacy of Reason.
Also the theme in angel of sin in ggz

Marco describing Bronya as buoyant and me thinking “yeah I guess she does float”
One of the most beloved? Its elysia
It was also the battlesuit that finally got me to appreciate Bronya. Really disliked that most of her battlesuits were just "fire a few missiles" or worse "fire a non-tracking beam".

Moon Halo, it’s callbacks, and Everlasting Flame still make me cry
And the moment my wallet is empty ;)
Hoyo has learned the secret technique to attack all our senses at once. It's an emotional override.
One of my favorite tracks in honkai that's actually not depressing! Hanser is such a talent...
Bronya, Seele and Fu Hua are by far my favorite Honkai characters

Thanks! It all makes sense now. Put in another way: "No bugs in this computer code."
Good old Cyberangel, this song never gets old nor does the animation :)
If u want to know some more about both Bronya and Seele, look up Azure Waters, a manga that gives u some backstory on both of them.
Unheard of. Bronya and Seele are my favorite characters in the story (not counting the recent 13 Flamechasers story arc.)
mhy knows the drill. Give us hope and then crush it 😭
Bronya was an brutal assassin when she was a child so as she becomes an guardian angel for her dear, her wings are already bloodstained
This is her ascension to the 3rd Herrscher of Reason. Her main power is to create objects she understands with her own energy.
A real triumph when this animation came out and the theme fits to Bronyas personality I didnt liked Bronya much when I was playing Honkai but after this animation and this theme I started to like her
Amazing theme and one of my favorites
Among the main trio, Bronya was the only one who was able to grab hold of a proper happy ending. The other 2 had bittersweet endings. Bronya's ending on the other hand was just happy. She didn't need to sacrifice anything important to her and was able to complete her goal.
Something to notice about the lyrics is how they use some computer coding terms, like “exception” and “library”
Love the nerdy metaphors.
This one is another good deep dive Opera Uncle.
Fun Fact: this is a rendition of another song named Angel of Sin. Which is also Bronya's theme song in Hoyo's earlier game, GGZ.

I really hope they will remake it because its the last hard to swallow part before they figured out how to narrate enjoyable chapters later.
And then they fck up it again with Open Worlds in chapter 25-33

Bronya is certainly a character defined by her strength of will. As the Hersherr of Reason, this scene is Bronya accepting the Honkai Gem to become a Hersherr to save her Friend from eternal/endless suffering.

Newbie here. Very much appreciate spoiler warnings.
When it comes to music, Honkai just never misses.
Bronya's character is one of the most interesting to me so I'm glad to see someone else appreciate her ☺️

This was her transformation/ awakening from a Valkyrie to the Herrscher of Reason, and her core power is the ability to create from nothing anything she understands fully - and she fully understands how that cannon of hers work, hence so many of them popping out at once.
The lore actually refers to this as "a traffic accident". xD
Anyway, here's a clip that might be interesting to you. Not a games video clip but a music one.

Yay let’s go more honkers
Honkers are the one thing she doesn't have. (until APHO that is)
@@w3t_wlpes I know it’s honkai I just call it honkers
In my opinion definitely not the most impactful one, but still a great song and animation and I'm so glad you're reacting to more honkai!! Can't wait for you to listen to the few remaining songs and watch their associated animations! By the way, which one was your favorite song and which was your favorite animation so far?
(In a good way) Wait till Marco sees Time-skip APHO Broyna
Its time for Oracle then
Bronya grew more in 8 years than Teri Teri did in 34+ years, or Fu Hua did in 50,000 years
man all your videos are bangers i clicked on this as soon as i saw it
bronya is my favorite character in HI 3rd, her evolution and story is so amazing
Bronya! Cyber Angel is such a nice beat to move to and once again you do a pretty good job analyzing it though your missing some key info that mislead a few parts, if you wanna know a bit more about Bronya and Seele theirs a video called Azure Waters that shows what happened with more Honkai music :P
Summed up simply this is the moment Bronya Became the Herrscher of Reason which is the reason for the fancy reconstruction abilities and her Mech companion/familiar/thing becoming able to transform into a bike (its name is Project Bunny 19C and has been with Bronya for a while but its usually hidden in another dimension)
and before people start pointing out details about what i said i'm intentionally keeping things more vague and less complicated incase Marco wants to play Honkai himself one day
also Bronya best girl!
Fight me
This theme is my third favorite honkai song only second to Moon Halo and The day you and the stars disappeared (hoshi to kimi ga kieta hi) should take a look at that theme.
Great song, amazing animation. Shame that's the only time Bronya takes a W though. 😂
As always, a great video. I really wanted to see the reaction to the Moon Halo from this game
The Herscherr who carried me from below level 80 to level 88.
Thanks for the heart Marco.
❤️
Marco, now that you've heard CyberAngel you should hear the original: Angel of Sin, from miHoYo's previous game Honkai Gakuen, or GGZ
GGZ reaction would be perfect
GGZ music makes me want to play it, but I have my hands full with all the games I play... Also I don't know if there's English language in there lol
@@amplesstratleholm7609 there was a global version GGZ but it already shut down. Only CN and JP servers are up.
I'm a simple man, you reacting to honkai music always makes my day. Keep up the amazing videos!
Singer is Hanser. Shes Bronya CN VA and well known Idol in China.
I like your videos alot! another game with a great soundtrack is Endless Space 2, I recommend United Empire Main Theme, Together to the Stars
You said “buoyancy” and she is literally fighting and navigating in the Sea of Quanta, which refers to the chaotic space outside of and between all the bubble universes in the game’s narrative universe
Well its connect to other character that you have cover music in other time and thats what explained this music is for who bronya sing to
Loved this song!
Have you done Lament of the Fallen?
man, i really didn't expect Marco to do a review for a song from Honkai Impact
I'm amazed tho
love the animation
I'm so glad you did this one, even though I had to relive the emotional damage. XD
You should see the equinox gate preview from honkai as well, it has an interesting soundtrack and you will definitely like it. This episode happened before dual ego both Bronya and Seele saving each other.
Bronya is a disability Icon. She learns and recreates technology to support her biological limitations, not just through the "magic" of honkai but with applied Robotics and Engineering (which she continues to study & work in advancing not just to improve her Herscherr Capabilities but to make these technologies possible without honkai [magic], refining and extending the capabilities of tech beyond war against Honkai - we see this most evidently in her talks with Welt, in her appearances as Silverwing, in her "throwaway" dialogue).
Bronya doesn't get magically "cured" of her disabilities or her traumas: she studies, works incredibly hard to replicate what her herscherr core is capable of with human technology, applies her all to make her a stronger asset for humanity (which incidentally includes giving her more mobility, through mecha and biotics and [neural linking]). I always feel incredibly proud of Bronya, when I see her hovering with Project Bunny, straining to walk in her Wolf's Dawn suit (which I assume has cybernetic limb bracers, going by the design of her "stockings" and her movement in animations), jumping & flying as Silverwing (Project Bunny more compact and streamlined than ever).
Honkai Impact has a surprising number of disabled and otherwise chronically ill characters in its cast: not just Bronya but NPCs such as the orphans Raven takes care of (survivors of Honkai Events), civilians in chapter stages.
It can get kind of lost/forgotten between the blurring of sci-fi and dystopia but, between the youthful anime faces and body types are a cast of survivors determined to make normal life possible even in an apocalypse. Tesla, Einstein, Bronya, Welt, Raven - I imagine that Vill-V and Doctor MEI did similar work in the Previous Era (between the dubiously moral genetic experiments with Mobius, that is). I still remember meeting Wendy and the excitement of seeing a young wheelchair user. There aren't a lot of "good" ways to quickly identify characters as disabled or chronically ill but seeing the use of mobility aids over "fixed by magic now" is refreshing. I do side-eye the lack of scarring on the characters in their skimpy suits (Mei straight up had heart surgery like... twice? within the first few chapters??) but, eh, "anime" bodies... would probs be "distracting" to have these anime girls running around covered in road rash and surgical scars. ^_^;
Haha, I see the same dance with all the streamers watching Ciberangel. Makes me want to dance too-
I think this is the only (official) honkai animation that's not tragic or sad.
Bronya also aged well as an adult. I think she cheated somehow with her powers. ;0
she bloomed that's for sure...
If you look at her mother, I think it's normal
@@Kanethedragon ig you didn't read second eruption
Edit : Well either way you'll see some of bronya's past next chapter. So you'll know more then
Just like welt, she did a full body reconstruction :)
Hanser and Bronya is godess indeed.
Can't wait to see Marco tackle Moon Halo, it'll be epic.
Project Bunny.. Ride On.
- Bronya Zaychik
Please also react to Bunny Jump (Bronya ost sung by HANSER too).
Thanks.
You definitely should also listen to "final lesson" of honkai impact 3rd, and watch the animation as well. It's so good
I would hella recommend you to listen to rosemary's theme if you haven't already, it's just amazing, the violin work is heavenly in this one !
Next i recomend Oaths - Post Honkai Odyssey Theme Song
Marco i think its time to watch everlasting flame i was going to ask you this before and time it yesterday for kiana's birthday but been busy with projects and stuff so been late to recommending it.
Bronya Herrscher Of Reason was my first Herrscher in this game, that's why she has an special place for me, also because she came home on the first 20 pulls of her debut banner. I lost my mind when she appeared twice on the second 10x pull.
Edit> She is also the first I managed to ascend to SS rank.
Go for moon halo as it is our Tuna's birthday!
Ooooooo will - can you in your next comment remind me of those two songs? Thanks.
@@MarcoMeatball which 2? The killer instinct tracks?
I adore Bronya-jiejie and her CN VA Hanser ❤️
Speaking of Honkai, you should watch the animation for befall. I loved your analysis of the music itself, but I really wanted to see your reaction to the animation as well
I have to go back!
Other songs: Emotional & sad in some way orchestral
Cyberangel: Triumphant upbeat
Technobeat
Other videos tragedy loss struggle
Fighting back
Cyberangel: fighting for Somebody who's willing to risk everything for a precious person
Bronya would go on to save both Seele's in one way or another~
RIDE ON!!!!
Good video 👍
Honkai has some of the best music in gaming Nightglow and Rubia are some of the best examples of that.
was actually gonna request to review honkai world diva but you actually reviewed it and some popular HI3 songs. thanks! that should save some trouble 👌
