“Why is this so sad, I don’t even know this characters”. Literally my thoughts when I watched this for the first time. It did make me play the game, though
Wanna know why its so Sad, our guy just nailed the thought, the feeling just by listening the song, He didn't even played Honkai but he nailed the exact meaning of this song. His explanations: 1:43
It a musician thing those who know music can read the message the song is conveying cause every true musician knows how to intert a message and only those who understand music can decipher the message
For a bit of extra context, Himeko (the redhead) was already dying, and the serum injected into Kiana was, in fact, for her to save her life. Himeko was Kiana's teacher and her mission was to kill Kiana, but she chose to trade her life for Kiana's and give her another chance.
Yes and no, this is a very good answer, but there is one flaw to it. The Serum was designed to stop the progression of the Houkai Corruption in Himeko's system...but the reason she used it on Kiana, is because Himeko was beyond saving now. She says it before this scene, which you can't tell because for some reason they decided to make her look like she had just stepped out of a shower. "...my wounds won't heal anymore. I can't stop the bleeding...man...I could really use one last beer." Originally it was supposed to purge Himeko of her houkai powers for good, to save her life...but unfortunately, just after acquiring it, she merged her body with that suit, taking on the gem of haste, and fought Herrscher of the Void one on one to a stand still. HoV was sent into having to flee, but at the cost of their battle pushed Himeko beyond her limits. It's why she is seen staring at it in the beginning: she knew her life was over. She would not live after this fight, whether she used it or not... So she opted to use it on Kiana, knowing it would save her. They knew from the minute it was made, it'd work, because it separates the user from Honkai Energy. With Kiana, it would be temporary, as unlike Himeko, Kiana is hooked directly up to honkai reactors because she has THREE Herrscher Cores in her. But it'd jog Kiana out enough to snap her back to herself, and knock her unconscious. She knew this...and so she gave her all just to get -close- to Kiana. She knew she couldn't beat HoV. HoV is a god. She is but a single woman, compared to the might of a God.
@@bozzku8481 Not exactly three cores, its one core and two gems, but yes! The core of the Void is in K423 from the beginning, it is what gave her life amongst all the other clones, who didn't even have brainwaves. Its what gives K423 her existence. The Gem of Serenity was the Gem of the Herrscher of Death and that was acquired in the manga known as Moon Shadow, a prequel manga where Hua and Kiana go on a mission together, and to stop the Gem from destroying the city, Kiana took it in her bare hands and...tried to keep the honkai from going out of control. This lead to Herrscher of the Void, Sirin, awakening and her and Hua fought, but Hua overpowered her and knocked her out and saved Kiana. During the chapter...7? Or 8 ending i forget which, when Otto is experimenting on her, he puts the gem back into her and floods her body with Honkai to awaken Sirin again, who then attacks all her friends. That leads to the second gem, the gem of Conquest, or Thunder. This one she directly tears out of Mei's chest, and subjugated the power for her own whims. Originally, in the Second Eruption, these were all Sirin's on general, remnants of the power of the Final Herrscher, Herrscher of the End / Finality, but when she fell in previous era, her power was scattered across the moon. Sirin was bestowed the power in the form of these crystals, and Otto's plan was to take all the gems and cores and feed them to Sirin, hoping to revive her, and the power she once had, and weaponize her for his experiments. He needed K423 because she was his test of 'is revival of a dead person possible' which yes, it is, but what isn't possible is the revival of their soul. Sirin had her consciousness trapped in the Core of the Void, hence why K423 is alive, she IS Sirin. But what Otto wants to do is bring back his love of his life now dead for 500 years, and so his goal isn't possible. But still he did all this to Kiana for his own ends.
Yeah, context in the next chapter confirms that Kiana was awake the entire time. She watched her own hands choking Mei, she watched herself kill so many people. She watched Himeko die in front of her and couldn't do anything about it. The ingame cutscene has a more visceral and higher pitched scream overlaid on the distorted one. Kiana's voice crying out in abject horror and emotional agony.
@@Sculas Interestingly in Moon Halo, when Dominance was trapping Kiana and saying "The world has never been beautiful!", you could also hear Kiana's desperate voice.
Whole her life Kiana was manipulated, victim to experiments, forced to do things she don't want to, her body was (and during cinematic is) possesed by evil god, and she almost never had her own agency. And now Himeko, her friend and her trainer, mother-like figure, is giving all her life just to give a chance for Kiana to have an agency, to live how she wants to live, to do what she wants to do, to love how she wants to love. That's what about the song is.
Not Possessed, Kiana (K-423) and HoV is both owner of the body. The body itself is a Clone numer 423 , from the Real Kiana Kaslana (now Bianka "Durandal" Ataegina) Check game : •chapter 25 Set Tomorrow Ablaze - chapter 26/27/28 Thus Spoke Apocalypse
Chapter 9 is where the Games "Story" Really unfolfds - Its the one big turning point where a player seperates from someone who is casually testing the game
"We're gonna listen to the music w/o context." O cool! his analysis is right on. "Now we're gonna watch the animation this comes from." O NO! I didn't wanna cry this early! T__T
I don't know if this was intentional but right around 13:30 when Himeko goes "you can still end this story the way you want", the song cuts in right after with "so stay alive bravely". Goddamn, Mihoyo. This animation was perfect in every wau
was not expecting to see a familiar face, no tears to collect this time other then the comment sections though maybe he too shall become a captain one day
Background info below: In the Honkaiverse, there is a force of nature known as the Honkai, which rises to 'balance' humanity whenever it becomes 'too advanced.' Unfortunately, this often takes the form of culling humanity. The Honkai manifests throughout history as plagues, natural disasters, and Honkai Zombies and Beasts. When humanity advances beyond a certain threshhold, the Honkai's forces are led by Herrschers (German for 'ruler' or 'leader)' who are humans who feel betrayed by humanity, aligning them to the Will of Honkai to destroy them, and each subsequent Herrscher who appears is more powerful than the last. All Honkai who do appear use and give off a radiant and unique energy. Being near a powerful Honkai is usually enough to kill a normal human, or transform them to a Honkai Zombie. Over time, some humans developed natural resistance to Honkai energy, manifesting as a srt of power tattoo, a stigma. Natural stigmata are extremely rare, and they normally only appear in the descendants of three families, which are also the founders of the Middle Ages relgious organization, Schicksal. They are the Houses Kaslana (the Knights), Scheriac (the Holy Blood), and Apocalypse (the Leaders). However through the generations, the power of those stigmata has weakened significantly. Schicksal is one of the organizations that has developed technologies to resist and fight the Honkai, and they primary fight using the young women who become their Valkyries. Most of them have implanted, artificial stigmata. While artificial stigmata do offer some resistance to Honkai energy, it's not nearly as effective as natural stigmata. And all Valkyries run the risk of being corrupted by the Honkai and becoming Honkai Beasts or Zombies themselves. When they do fall, they get marked by these red, circuit-like lines, and this is called Honkai Cascade. When Valks see these in their comrades, they're taught to kill their comrades before they can turn. Murata Himeko (the redhead) is one of the teachers at St. Freya High School, which belongs the Far East Branch of Schicksal. The school is run by Theresa Apocalypse, adopted grand-daughter of Otto Apocalypse, who is Overseer of Schicksal (and the main antagonist of the game). Theresa founded the school along her friend, Cecilia Scheriac-Kaslana's, dream of teaching Valkyries to value their own likes more than their missions. Himeko was originally a biologist without a stigmata, but after her father died in a Honkai Outbreak, she decided to become a Valkyrie, and got implanted with an artificial stigmata. She worked harder than her peers to become powerful, and eventually became a teacher. Knowing she would eventually due or become corrupted and turn, she was, at once point, extremely desperate at any chance to gain a natural stigmata and extend her life, and this lead to her being corrupted and mind controlled at one point. Later, in Chapter 9 of the game's story, Himeko gains a Honkai Suppressor serum, the one she has in the video. At that point, she was already beginning to suffer from the Honkai corruption in her body, and knew she would soon die. She had a choice: use the serum on herself, and lose her Valkyrie powers, or use it on one of her students, Kiana Kaslana, who had become possessed by the Second Herrscher. Kiana, as a member of House Kaslana, has a natural stigmata, and a far higher Honkai resistance and potential than Himeko. Plus, the crew of the airship _Hyperion_ was in the middle of a war against the Honkai. They really needed the ability to fight back. So Himeko made her choice, as you saw. By the way, there are currently 29 chapters in the story of this game, so this happened pretty early on.
@@smartinro. A captain here ever since chapter 9 has been released I didn't move forward on the story mode till this day and maybe in the future for I myself felt failed as a captain when I lost an important valkyrie
@@Renagade01 did you continue the story? After chapter 9 there are still many things, both happy and sad. Character development. Especially, in chapter 28, you can fight Otto, the guy summoned Herrscher of the Void
And the difference between two voices is clearer and more obvious in the game than in the video they uploaded. I don't know why they decided to change, I feel like the in-game one is more painful.
@@moodysullie yeah they tend to do separate things for in-game scenes and uploaded ones, like how there is an entire cool scene with city light at the end of Meteoric Salvation on youtube which wasn't in game.
@@x_Psyduck_x that one is understandable because they might not want to spoil too much so they end there, while in the game it's continue to another scene **SPOILER for who hasn't play the game** which is when we get to see Durandal, Kiana & Mei, teasing us for qhat will come next in the story.
Finally one of my favourite one from Honkai Impact 3 Edit: Yea, you feel sad even when you don't know the characters. Imagine the sadness for those who followed the story and characters from the very start. I can't stop my tears everytime I watch the Final Lesson video.
I watched animation reactions before playing hi3, and everytime i watched final lesson i always end up feeling a bit sad Now that i played hi3, i can't stop the tears from flowing anymore...
It´s ok, it´s normal to be sad with honkai, my god what a game. 5:30THIS 14:33 Now imagine all of us that love that character even now, plus you are human, it´s normal when you understand the music that well. Thanks for keep reacting to honkai.
YESSSS, more Honkai. Honkai has such amazing music that I feel only the Honkai community has really gotten to experience and always happy to see people experience some of the most iconic pieces from it.
in case you didn't know, Honkai has a whole concert will most of their famous songs being done as a live performance. its available on youtube and was released for free to everyone to celebrate an anniversary of the game's release. it includes a great variety of music, such as choir, electric, classic chinese music and many others. its a long video, but it could be a cool special episode if you ever want to do a video on it ^^ as others have pointed out, this is a passionate community so dont feel too pressured by everyone posting messages like this haha
@@MarcoMeatball okay I will look forward to it :) but no pressure, you already have dozens of videos planned it seems. if I may make a request, "Regression" would be an interesting song to get your thoughts on, its another very emotional song with a male lead this time and is also not present in the concert (due to being released later). anyway thanks for the reply and have a great day! may all the beauty be blessed & lets fight for all that is beautiful in the world
Amidst all the badass moments in that fight scene, my favorite is the tiniest detail that could easily be missed at 14:03 just before the camera cuts to the corrupted/possessed Kiana realizing what they've been injected with, in Himeko's final dying moments there's a tiny curl on her lips as she knows that she did succeed in her final mission to bring her student back.
The best part about the video is that, as Himeko is flying away, she's not dead yet. You can see her mouth very subtly smile as the antidote injects. She's achieved her goal, to let Kiana live.
Yeah, this fricking song makes me cry all the time. O7 Honkai Impact is packed with beautiful songs of many variations. And most songs are performed by the actual VA from the character in the Animation. Girl Inside would probably be a likeable song for people coming from an opera. Still the songs got a futuristic touch on them. Iras 17514 is very short but so sad it could drive me mad. This game is known as the game of depression. In some fan communitys. People tend to be very passionate about this game . Hope they don't bother you. Oh, Befall might be of interest too, for it's kinda well, let's say it befits a Queen of the void. Thank you, for your interpretation of the song and actually watching the animation afterwards. This was great. May all the beauty be blessed. O7
*SPOILERS FOR HONKAI AHEAD* nightglow is so so potent as the song that it is because it is a love song through and through despite not being romantic. it is about the tragic, pure, tender love of a teacher to her beloved student. it uses these things that are so frequently used in songs about romance and flips them on their head. it is indeed about not being able to be with someone you love due to circumstance; but the one that is letting go is not you. you must die for the ones you love to be able live. you are the one embarking on the journey that you KNOW you will not return from. you are going into this knowing you will not come out. you are giving the one you love a chance to live, in their own way. it is not a plea for the love you're at risk of losing. it is a message for those that love you who will lose you. these are my emotion-addled thoughts on the reason why this song works in such a unique way and idk if i got it across in the way i wanted to but :3 (edit: adding some more thoughts)
I am so glad a company like Mihoyo/Hoyoverse exist making a cultural differences in China. Also hearing about how you have over 50 videos, just be careful not to burn yourself out putting the videos out.
Man... I can't. Even after dropping the game for like one and a half years, this song always gets me. Chills and tears just kept on coming. A really great video btw.
I've seen final lesson so many times that at some point in time, i picked up a single moment where the youtube japanese version is different from the in game version, and it's at the very end when Kiana get's stuck witht he medicine and she grabs her face and starts screaming, in the youtube version her cream keeps the voice reverb all throughout, but the in game version transitions from the reverb "possessed" voice, to just Kiana's voice. it's a small detail, but it means so much for Himeko's sacrifice.
Well, if it's just sad for you who don't know the context, think how we, that know the context, are destroyed by feelings everytime we listen to this song. It's the most pivotal moment in the story, after this nothing is like before.
great video! Having both the reaction/majority of the analysis of just the music in the beginning followed by the reaction of it in context is great. definitely stands out from other people as well. hope to see more videos like this!
whenever there is singing in the song, it seem to be quite your element as you can pick up and talk about what you think they are trying to express. also I like the format of listen before watching so you can focus on the music, it what other channel don't do, and it suit u. This singer Tanya Chua was over 40 when she sung this, she has over a dozen album to her name. so I am surprise she actually accepted the song given she is part of a music label(Universal) and she usually sing song she write herself. this is a rather 'out of the box' pick no MHY to choose her as the singer, yet the moment I listen to the song, I know it her and the song would be good.
Can I just say you are really good at picking up the themes on your first listen. Really goes to show how perfectly crafted the games vocal tracks are.
I hope you react to Honkai Impact trailer music as the music doesn't stop with the CGs. The CGs actually one of the peaks of storytelling in Honkai Impact.
the tragic part is, himeko went into this battle knowing this would be her last and to save Kiana, even tho she didnt know if she'd be successful. the flames out of her back during her final attack was literally her body burning her from the inside out, Himeko was basically running on pure willpower at this point, all to save her student, to save Kiana. even sadder, at this point in the story nobody but Kiana knows that Himeko is no longer and theres a part or rather the majority of Ch.11-1 Kiana is trying to deal with the guilt up until a short but emotionally destroying scene near the end
What a great video! I don't play Honkai Impact, but all the music involved in the game is just amazing and can't be ignored. I searched for this specific song and found that there is a live concert version. It is very worth seeing Marco, recommended. Thanks for this video!
For more context to make you cry more, the evil white haired girl is actually Kiana, the person Himeko(red hair lady) was trying to save. Kiana was being controlled by a Herrscher persona due to her overwhelming Herrscher powers and was going on a rampage. Every other character had already tried to stop or kill her but all failed, but Himeko had the vial with a special serum that would get rid of all the honkai energy in the body of whoever was injected. But Himeko was infected by a large amount of honkai energy which was slowly killing her and the only cure was the vial, but if she used it on herself she'd also lose her ability to fight since powers and weapons in this world are powered by honkai energy, and there was only one vial, so if she cured herself she wouldn't be able to do anything for Kiana and Kiana would probably have to be killed to stop her. So instead Himeko fought Kiana and instead of dealing the finishing blow, she injected to serum into Kiana which helped her wake up. But because of her honkai infection, the injuries sustained in the battle, and the god's bane battle suit she was using that pumped even more deadly honkai energy into her body she died soon after the fight concluded, sinking into the abyss. Also when Kiana wakes up she remembers all the events that transpired and now hates herself for killing Himeko even though it wasn't really her who did it(It was the Herrscher persona the took over).
Thanks for featuring the penultimate saddest chapter in the Honkai story so far. Ask long-time players and fans like myself, this part is the holy grail of feels for the game. Next to this is probably Shattered Samsara (feat. the song Rubia), which is not sad but very moving because it shows a different, more mature Kiana. Then to round off the trilogy is Everlasting Flames (feat. the song Moon Halo) which now shows the Kiana that Himeko would have been most proud of. Hope I didn't give away too much with my descriptions. XD
Say what you want about Mihoyo but they're absolute geniuses when it comes to conveying emotion through music. When you're supposed to feel emotional during a segment then you WILL get emotional, regardless of whether you want to or not, or whether you actually know what is happening. And everything in these songs is calculated to fit the narrative, some small bit in the lyrics that when you think about it you go "oh...OH NO!", or the way it is sung (like how you explained with the "bravely" part), or how the music settles down and picks up to emphasize powerful moments, it's there for a reason and that reason is to make players suffer. So "why is that so sad?" - because it's supposed to be. The game isn't called Depression Impact for nothing. :)
“Why is this so sad, I don’t even know this characters” Imagine playing this game for years, following the story and know every characters' story as well as their bonds :( I just cried like a baby when reaching this chapter.
This guy, he does it again. Great analysis Marco! I really hope you continue down the Honkai animation/music video rabbit hole now that you've had a taste of what it has to offer, some truly great storytelling through music.
Arguably, one 9f the most hardest hitting songs from the game. Again, I think you for breaking this down. It means a lot to us Honkai Impact fans who shed many a tear from short, the song and as a painful reminder that a beloved character is gone. Please do more music breakdowns for Honkai Impact. Thanks. o7
If it ever comes I can't wait for you to react to IRAS 17514 and Regression. They really hit hard for me and the video thus spoke apocalypse. idk why they make me wanna cry but this one hits. Even if you don't know the characters it's just so sad makes you wanna cry so welcome to the club that's all I have to say.
Believe me, whenever I hear this again, It still hits me, pour onion juice to my eyes, reminds me the first time I watched it. To me, Himeko falling scene is always like it just happened yesterday
Every time I watch this video, I cry, and I’m sure I’ve seen this more than 20 times. There is something truly beautiful about pure selflessness. (This is a fantastic format for Honkai Impact videos)
your analysis in music and how it correlates to the lore, character, or cinematic is so amazing. you're always so accurate. it also goes to show how important music can be in setting the tone and can potentially make or break the story you're trying to tell
Man it was the only video game moment that made me cry because the story behind it is really really emotional, I can see your sadness just from the blind react, I could only imagine what you would do of you knew the story
I think this is my favorite video from you so far! I love this format! I like how well thought out this is. The explanations are great, and you reacting to the video in the end feels great. Good job!
I'm not a honkai player, but I live with one, and I ended up watching a lot of the game plus all the cutscenes. Honkai, I think, has a very dedicated player base because the game does tragic and emotional plot twists masterfully. And I think at the time no one was quite expecting it, because it starts so happy go lucky. So imagine you're just playing casually, perhaps not paying that much attention to the story, and suddenly they rip your heart out. I wasn't even very attached to the characters and I cried my eyes out. ... which made me care about the game, which is totally one of the objectives they were going for. One last note: this music is about familial love between two characters *not related* by blood. There are not that many stories investing in that, preferring to go right for romantic love. I was very impressed by it. Truly a hymn to all mentors and parental figures in our lives.
I'm suddenly reminded of the moment I realized what that initial scene in Final Fantasy X was about. I could never listen to To Zanarkand again without tearing up a bit. Once I put it in a work playlist during a crunch, and next thing I know a colleague was bawling on the other side of the room (that's how you identify FFX players in the wild).
the best thing about Mihoyo in Honkai Impact, they have the best people to produce their games, passionate about the story, passionate about the music and always nailed it. "To me, good music, means music that creates scene in your heart. When this scene (in the music) and the scene before your eyes become one you'll deeply moved. When listening to my demo, while watching people go by, if I can feel this sentiment, I'm in the right track" somene from Hoyo-mix :P , reference: ruclips.net/video/FMTRTSiTkDw/видео.html I'm still crying for whatever reason listening to this song... and other song like Rubia, Starfall, Moon glow, andddd the list continue.
Man, I've listened to this song that many times that I can see the animation without actually watching it. You hit the nail on the head (yet again) and pretty much summed it up perfectly.
Hi Marco, For me It's amazing how you always can do a very, very accurate analisys of some scenes in videogames only listening the music. At least in Honkai & Genshin Impact you make very good predictions about what happens. I hope you keep growing up in your channel. Regards!. PS If you continue making some analisys about Honkai I suggest you can Listen and then react to Starfall (it happens some time latter to nightglow).
I played HI3 for the first time this year and the moment I got to Chapter 9 was the moment I realized Mihoyo's penchant for making incredibly moving scenes wasn't something they developed recently, but is something they perfected years ago.
Got to salute to the goat, Himiko o7 This was a great vid and what you said about how you feel about how you listen to music was great advice never thought about it that way since I just think about what the person who made the song feels but never really thought about how the song makes me feel. Like for Nightglow I only saw it as a sad song but after hearing your thoughts about how you listen to music. Nightglow is still sad to me but more of a happy sad feeling if it makes sense, like being happy for a family members marriage but they'll be gone but you want them to be happy. Guess I'm saying I'm sad Himiko is gone but she left a lasting impression that I'll never forget.
this one hits everyone, its brings you to a sense of loss and it doesn't matter that you dont have a connection to the characters, it puts you in a place of longing and brings you to a connection with the theme or something in your life that resonates with it, this song is what made me become a mihoyo fan 4 years ago and I plan to play thier games just because I respect the art of thier games and how masterfully they give you the exact emotion they want you to feel in every scene, sometimes fleeting but always impactful. Keep up the great work.
It's fine Marco, I was sad when I first saw this animation (I didn't even know anything about Honkai then)and it was this animation that got me to explore the story! I was crying for these characters before I even got to know them. ( I love how Marco was torn between feeling good he was right and feeling bad for all the sadness happening on screen) love the analysis and video as always !!
For her student that she loves deeply for her student was lost in darkness. For her comrade who had lost her way for she was a prisoner of Fate. For her, she can't and won't let her go. For she shall light the way and give her student what she needed most, another chance to end things the way she wanted.
Whenever I see someone playing this part of the game, reacting to this video or analyze this song, I always watch, the song and the cutscene are well made that most of the time context isn't needed to feel how heavy, impactful and sad it is. I loved your analysis of the song before watching the video, also it is always nice to hear the opinion of someone who didn't actually play the game about the cinematic and music of the game.
This is a very good approach for Honkai songs, amination quality in the vids for them is top-notch, actually great that you watched it. I would definitely recommend same for Regression, Rubia and Moon Halo. Still cannot believe Hoyo is so strong in music department. Also thanks for your explanation, now I know why I always cry when listening to that one. Don't feel so lame anymore XD.
Yes, Nightglow one of the songs that I'd like to hear your thoughts about it now it's here, and it makes me more hyped to see you go through all the songs of HI3 in the future. Also don't sweat it man, Just take your time pumping the videos at your own pace in my opinion, it's a very daunting task especially with all the expectations but the most important thing is you love what your doing(Reaction to all this wonderful Music and OST and all) and keeping your self Motivated with all this wonderful Music. Cheers man! 🍻
I think the amazing thing about the animation, from the way it's made, to how it's timed with the music (and of course the music itself!) is done so perfectly that it can absolutely tear you apart over characters and scenarios that you have absolutely no clue about XD For me personally the best scenes/cutscents are those that even without prior context you understand, and feel for it enough to be as moved as someone who had consumed the whole story up to that point.
You know bro, the closest thing i can compare to Opera and Honkai is "Incarnation" by Honkai Gakuen, different game but set to different world, and also it's prequel. A elegy opera story like however is "Regression"
And also, respectfully speaking. As for you who really specialize at feeling the music. Honkai series is a pure torture for that ability. Someone like you Psychology reader Philosophy connoisseur Fell in this Void, the story writers knows how to control the players psychology by tailoring such events. I enjoy all those what above, and it's a beautiful writing reflected in their music and characters.
youre never that far off, of what the song is about, you analyze the Songs so perfectly. Honkai and Genshin can really symbolise and syncronise Music to their Videos, thats totally worth to watch.
Final Lesson was the exact thing that got me to first try out Honkai Impact 3rd, the fact that it made me cry over characters I had NEVER seen before and knew nothing about it was what got me to check it out.
I love this game, and this song. Every so often I listen to Nightglow and watch the cinematic. It's a very emotional journey that only hurts more, the more you know these characters. This was more than a self sacrifice from a teacher to their student, Kiana refers to her as "Aunt Himeko", she truly means a lot to her. Himeko's sacrifice shapped her into what she is today, and never stopped influencing her growth.
Man i remember watching this the first time in the game and like, sobbing for 2 hours straight. It made me really fall in Lovewith Honkai's Story, still playing it and the Story just continues to get better. this Scene happened in Chapter 7 or 8, and currently ongoing is Chapter 29, so alot has happened since then, but it still gets me every time
You are officially my fav Honkai short animation reactor, I am a music nerd and always love to hear when someone react to and do analysis from the music perspective, really really love the video!!
This video made me cry, I'm so emotionally attached to these characters and hearing him explain how I feel about these characters in grave detail. 2:46
This one truly hits hard, no matter how much i have watched or heard its just amazing. I don't know if u watched Will of the Herssher before(song:Befall) but its the one before this one if u want a little more context. I did like this type of video though, especially with Honkai inpact 3rd, their music matches their animation so well its mindblowing sometimes.
Oh my this is beatiful. How to get me to play a game I've never played. But yeah I like you listening to the song first and then watching a video that uses the song to compare your thoughts on the song to whats actually happening. But most of the time your pretty close anyway lol. Music can stand on its own but damn theres something amazing to me with paring it with a video like the part at 12:48 with the fire wings. Its just like nothing else.
Love this format of song first, then video for context. I was already like 'Marco's so spot on, I wish he knew!' with several videos and this lets me sit here and be like 'He knows, he knows!' xD
I really like your reactions, and what you added to the reaction of the video itself! I really want to see the rest of the highlights on honkai and the same past animation Will of herrscher, from which you listened only to music.
@@MarcoMeatballYou can also watch the video explaining the story, I know that the specifics of your channel is a reaction to music, but since you have already started watching the video sequence, then you can not limit yourself to this, well, it's up to you to decide) but for me, as a person who came to your channel from videos on games from hoyoverse, it would be very interesting to see your reaction to both the plot and the universe, after all, you are a very versatile person. Anyone who hears such little things in music has an interesting opinion on everything=) I will stay with you and write comments under the video, good luck!
Wow, I love that you included the video in this after first analyzing it. It makes it also even more fascinating for me as someone who has not played the game that far. :) I always look forward to your reactions and explanations. When I saw La Muette de Portici some days ago I even was reminded of some of your words while sitting there and listening to the music and seeing the actors. :) Thanks!
o7 Honkai presses the sad button, such good writing but it hurts "Kiana, be brave, push on. You can still end this story the way you want." It may be difficult for other games, but I loved how you went on to watch the CG that this music was in for context - it worked really well for Honkai
I like this format much more, guessing the context and then seeing if you were right is something that I've really wanted for alot of the songs you have done. It would be nice to see more of this even if you cant do it for everything
Nah wtheck- I got chills from start to finish and to think I've already seen this animation a few times and kinda do know the characters. Also I had to look for the first Honkai Impact 3 video you made and I just found the playlist for it 👌🏼
Himeko!!!! Damn it, That scene plus this song Im subbing because he covered one of my favorite Honkai short animations Pls cover Hersher of Void too, the music score for the snap scene was really well done, it gave many Honkai fans Goosebumps
So good, you have the like always, very impressive ! This song hits so hard at this part of the story, in a sad and powerful moment of sacrifice as you Saw. Your new format is interesting, i like it. Keep going buddy ❤️
amazing work, you are rigth the music hits in the heart and thas what make a song special for the ones who are able to feel and go whit the notes of the song. again love your work!!
Having watched your reaction and commentary on Befall and now this, it dawns on me that it's more than the characters or the visuals. Honkai also uses it's music to tell it's story by explaining more context then you'd expect via the sounds used and the very lyrics to tell you whats happening right here and now. I never thought about this until I watched your videos.
Really good read of the song! It's a simple piece but I've always loved the raw emotion that the song wears on its sleeve. That last chorus when the group vox come in behind the main vocal is just... ugh, I can't describe how much I love this track

Yup you're right he's really good at it and i really like it
Yeah xD Though I really hoped he'd notice "shine as the last shine" line and understand this is about self-sacrifice

For a bit of extra context, Himeko (the redhead) was already dying, and the serum injected into Kiana was, in fact, for her to save her life.
Himeko was Kiana's teacher and her mission was to kill Kiana, but she chose to trade her life for Kiana's and give her another chance.
she wasn't even sure that it will save Kiana she sacrifices herself and left all the rest to our Tuna
@@dissonant_ruin can u explain a bit about the 3 herscher core?
@@dissonant_ruinYeah but she chose not to use it before she got the Vermilion Knight: Eclipse battlesuit

This game does sh!t to you man...
Fun fact: kiana’s scream at the end of the video has 2 voices! One from the evil god possessing her, and the other is the real kiana, waking up.
I believe Kiana is awake the entire time. And she saw her Teacher die by her hands, which is why she screamed her heart out.
@@Talon1124Honestly that was Sirin's plan, she wanted to let Kiana watch as everyone she loves die by her own hands.
@@seraphal1970 In order to make her vulnerable and submit, yes.
The body itself is a Clone numer 423 , from the Real Kiana Kaslana (now Bianka "Durandal" Ataegina)

having gotten used to his reactions to just the music i was not expecting context all of a sudden, and damnit why did it have to be Final Lesson T-T
Well, that mission is called "The Last Lesson" for a reason.... And it hurts a lot... it hurts very much... To all... "Live bravely"
I don't know if this was intentional but right around 13:30 when Himeko goes "you can still end this story the way you want", the song cuts in right after with "so stay alive bravely". Goddamn, Mihoyo. This animation was perfect in every wau
Knowing Mihoyo, it's 100% intentional. It's such a cool detail to catch, thank you!

Omg oll hello
Background info below:
In the Honkaiverse, there is a force of nature known as the Honkai, which rises to 'balance' humanity whenever it becomes 'too advanced.' Unfortunately, this often takes the form of culling humanity.
Fellow Captain, you completed the mission of educate people on Honkai Universe Lore.

I'm not a honkai player but someone pointed out that you can hear two different voice from the cry from Kiana which make it more emotional.
And the difference between two voices is clearer and more obvious in the game than in the video they uploaded. I don't know why they decided to change, I feel like the in-game one is more painful.

YESSSS, more Honkai.
Honkai has such amazing music that I feel only the Honkai community has really gotten to experience and always happy to see people experience some of the most iconic pieces from it.
The ingenious thing about the soundtrack is that it makes people that know nothing about the story feel the emotional impact of the scene.
in case you didn't know, Honkai has a whole concert will most of their famous songs being done as a live performance. its available on youtube and was released for free to everyone to celebrate an anniversary of the game's release. it includes a great variety of music, such as choir, electric, classic chinese music and many others. its a long video, but it could be a cool special episode if you ever want to do a video on it ^^ as others have pointed out, this is a passionate community so dont feel too pressured by everyone posting messages like this haha
You're the only one so far. :) Would be very fun. Perhaps a Live stream
"I win... I'm glad..."
Yeah, this fricking song makes me cry all the time. O7
Honkai Impact is packed with beautiful songs of many variations.
And most songs are performed by the actual VA from the character in the Animation.
Girl Inside would probably be a likeable song for people coming from an opera. Still the songs got a futuristic touch on them.
Iras 17514 is very short but so sad it could drive me mad.
This game is known as the game of depression.

Welcome to Depression Impact !
*SPOILERS FOR HONKAI AHEAD*
nightglow is so so potent as the song that it is because it is a love song through and through despite not being romantic. it is about the tragic, pure, tender love of a teacher to her beloved student. it uses these things that are so frequently used in songs about romance and flips them on their head. it is indeed about not being able to be with someone you love due to circumstance; but the one that is letting go is not you. you must die for the ones you love to be able live. you are the one embarking on the journey that you KNOW you will not return from. you are going into this knowing you will not come out. you are giving the one you love a chance to live, in their own way. it is not a plea for the love you're at risk of losing. it is a message for those that love you who will lose you.
these are my emotion-addled thoughts on the reason why this song works in such a unique way and idk if i got it across in the way i wanted to but :3
(edit: adding some more thoughts)
I am so glad a company like Mihoyo/Hoyoverse exist making a cultural differences in China.

This cutscene broke me completely when I played through it. Still makes my cry hysterically.
Oh, I didn't expected a Honkai music reaction video. Nice job mate. I like it.
great video! Having both the reaction/majority of the analysis of just the music in the beginning followed by the reaction of it in context is great. definitely stands out from other people as well. hope to see more videos like this!
I have so many filmed I can’t go back for all. Because I’m locked in. But inevitably I will use this format moving forward
whenever there is singing in the song, it seem to be quite your element as you can pick up and talk about what you think they are trying to express. also I like the format of listen before watching so you can focus on the music, it what other channel don't do, and it suit u.
This song has never once failed to make me cry ;-;
o7 RIP Major Himeko
Can I just say you are really good at picking up the themes on your first listen. Really goes to show how perfectly crafted the games vocal tracks are.
:)
THIS TRACK ALWAYS GETS ME. HIMEKO SENSEEEEI
Def on my list!
I would definitely recommend playing the game, even if only for the story, it's a masterpiece of a story that deserves far more recognition
“Why is this so sad, I don’t even know this characters”
Imagine playing this game for years, following the story and know every characters' story as well as their bonds :( I just cried like a baby when reaching this chapter.
Good job!
It won’t all be like this because of some pre edited tracks but it will be as close to this as possible
When listening to my demo, while watching people go by, if I can feel this sentiment, I'm in the right track" somene from Hoyo-mix :P , reference: ruclips.net/video/FMTRTSiTkDw/видео.html
I'm still crying for whatever reason listening to this song... and other song like Rubia, Starfall, Moon glow, andddd the list continue.
Man, I've listened to this song that many times that I can see the animation without actually watching it.
You hit the nail on the head (yet again) and pretty much summed it up perfectly.
00:12 i like the music (unexpectedly), and your voice blend with it perfectly!
but cant ignore the elephant in the room; sadge moment
Cant wait for you to react Rubia, best song in HI3 for me
Hi Marco, For me It's amazing how you always can do a very, very accurate analisys of some scenes in videogames only listening the music. At least in Honkai & Genshin Impact you make very good predictions about what happens. I hope you keep growing up in your channel. Regards!. PS If you continue making some analisys about Honkai I suggest you can Listen and then react to Starfall (it happens some time latter to nightglow).
I see what you did there, I can already see Marco predicting the whole ANIMATION just hearing the music... I'm truly excited to see that.
Never let you go Sensei, you will be always in our heart and memory
I played HI3 for the first time this year and the moment I got to Chapter 9 was the moment I realized Mihoyo's penchant for making incredibly moving scenes wasn't something they developed recently, but is something they perfected years ago.
Got to salute to the goat, Himiko o7
This was a great vid and what you said about how you feel about how you listen to music was great advice never thought about it that way since I just think about what the person who made the song feels but never really thought about how the song makes me feel.
Music is for us to feel however we feel it. ❤️
this one hits everyone, its brings you to a sense of loss and it doesn't matter that you dont have a connection to the characters, it puts you in a place of longing and brings you to a connection with the theme or something in your life that resonates with it, this song is what made me become a mihoyo fan 4 years ago and I plan to play thier games just because I respect the art of thier games and how masterfully they give you the exact emotion they want you to feel in every scene, sometimes fleeting but always impactful.
Cheers man! 🍻
It’s not daunting at all :) it’s fun and very easy. Editing sucks 😂
@@MarcoMeatball Glad to hear that man and more power to you and your time consuming (I guess) editing process 😂.
I think the amazing thing about the animation, from the way it's made, to how it's timed with the music (and of course the music itself!) is done so perfectly that it can absolutely tear you apart over characters and scenarios that you have absolutely no clue about XD
For me personally the best scenes/cutscents are those that even without prior context you understand, and feel for it enough to be as moved as someone who had consumed the whole story up to that point.
14:03 i read this from somewhere, if you look carefully, you'll see that Himeko was smiling here, beacause she had done it, she saved her
You know bro, the closest thing i can compare to Opera and Honkai is "Incarnation" by Honkai Gakuen, different game but set to different world, and also it's prequel.
A elegy opera story like however is "Regression"
And also, respectfully speaking.
As for you who really specialize at feeling the music.
Honkai series is a pure torture for that ability.
Someone like you

Fell in this Void, the story writers knows how to control the players psychology by tailoring such events.
This song always hits me right in the feels like very few others can.
Looking forward to seeing more from you
I love this game, and this song.
Love the new video layout. Thanks for making me cry.
Man i remember watching this the first time in the game and like, sobbing for 2 hours straight. It made me really fall in Lovewith Honkai's Story, still playing it and the Story just continues to get better. this Scene happened in Chapter 7 or 8, and currently ongoing is Chapter 29, so alot has happened since then, but it still gets me every time
You nailed it again sir! Your ears are so good on your blind reactions it was so enthralling to listen. As well as your experience are very helpful.
You are officially my fav Honkai short animation reactor, I am a music nerd and always love to hear when someone react to and do analysis from the music perspective, really really love the video!!
Glad you liked it!
Love that you enjoy Honkai's music too, thank you Marco
This video made me cry, I'm so emotionally attached to these characters and hearing him explain how I feel about these characters in grave detail. 2:46
man ive watched final lesson a long time ago and it still made me shed real fat tears. himeko you will always be famous
I just want to say: respect my man. Its amazing to see how do you interpret this beautiful song so good.
🙏
Love this format of song first, then video for context. I was already like 'Marco's so spot on, I wish he knew!' with several videos and this lets me sit here and be like 'He knows, he knows!' xD
I really like your reactions, and what you added to the reaction of the video itself! I really want to see the rest of the highlights on honkai and the same past animation Will of herrscher, from which you listened only to music.
I will eventually go back when I can :)
Welcome aboard captain
Wow, I love that you included the video in this after first analyzing it. It makes it also even more fascinating for me as someone who has not played the game that far. :) I always look forward to your reactions and explanations. When I saw La Muette de Portici some days ago I even was reminded of some of your words while sitting there and listening to the music and seeing the actors. :) Thanks!
Awwww JULIA thank you!!!
@@MarcoMeatball You are very welcome. :)
That's a great idea to also watch the actual thing afterwards! I love your reactions, I really do, thank you. You nailed it once again.
I actually really love this way of a video and looking forward to another one of this
Will be spotty as I have many recorded.
o7
Honkai presses the sad button, such good writing but it hurts
"Kiana, be brave, push on. You can still end this story the way you want."
It may be difficult for other games, but I loved how you went on to watch the CG that this music was in for context - it worked really well for Honkai
I like this format much more, guessing the context and then seeing if you were right is something that I've really wanted for alot of the songs you have done. It would be nice to see more of this even if you cant do it for everything
content that is filmed likely won't change much. But, moving forward there will be a heavy mix of this. Yup!
Nah wtheck- I got chills from start to finish and to think I've already seen this animation a few times and kinda do know the characters.
Also I had to look for the first Honkai Impact 3 video you made and I just found the playlist for it 👌🏼
*1 year later* The chapter having a "so adult" part
brb Imma cry lol gosh Himeko. "Kiana" wasn't even able to get a last hug ;-;
The live version with the instrumental character theme as intro is even better. You analyzed it on point !
Himeko!!!!
Damn it, That scene plus this song
Im subbing because he covered one of my favorite Honkai short animations
Pls cover Hersher of Void too, the music score for the snap scene was really well done, it gave many Honkai fans Goosebumps
Last Lession, and "Regression". Really hope to see you make a vid about that song.
Others hearing this song: oh wow thats sad
Me hearing this song: *crying breakdown breakdance intensifies*
