Damn, thoughts and prayers to the victims obviously, but I feel really bad for La’el, too. This ruined what should have been one of the best moments of his life & cost him a lot of $ off that rookie contract. Thankful to have him in Dallas🙏🏼
Likely due to fallout from the Aaron Hernandez situation in 2013. IIRC, Collins was never a suspect in the investigation although his former relationship with the victim made him a person of interest.
He kind of did it to himself. He grew up in the area so he knew the caliber of people he could and couldnt associate with and chose wrong. If I was a guaranteed 1st rounder in a low income area.....I wouldnt trust a soul outside of family and even they would be on a short leash.
During all this I recall the Collins camp telling teams "If hes not drafted in the First 3 rounds then do not select him." They knew he was losing money and it was more lucrative for him to sign as a UDFA.
Friggle Dee u are right he did say I was hoping my Giants would have drafted I would have took the chance. After the draft we sent Odell to try and recruit him no luck he signed with the cowboys smh...
I'm from Baton Rouge. Errbody from Baton Rouge knew La'el was innocent long before that draft. That young man was robbed of millions of dollars. So wrong.
No he didn’t. He signed a contract and extension that paid 16.4 million in 4 years. The 32 pick in today’s nfl draft got just over 11m. He also signed another 5 year extension for 50m
It's truly sad that this young lady and child lost their lives. R.I.P. to you both. It's also sad to speak the truth..."if Collins didn't have the support of the legal team which sports provides, he would've been yet another innocent black man sitting in prison for a crime he did not commit" just look at how fast his name was drugged in the mud. Her murder is still unsolved due to not having a high profile face to attach the crime upon. Solve this murder. Mr. Collins enjoy your life to the fullest cuz it was damn near snatched away from you so don't ever forget it.
Man this was crazy! I was still waiting for someone to say that he did it but I guess he didn’t. I hope they find out who did because they almost ruined this man’s life
Right, even if the woman was pregnant with his baby he stood to lose a lot more if he killed her and goes down for murder. Kill her , kiss the NFL good bye and go to prison. But...... on the other hand , step up and be a man, get drafted in the first round and he would had plenty money to support the baby very comfortably. Now which option seemed to be in his best interest. Not only did he not have motive to kill her, he had motive not to kill her and ruin his chance at making mega millions in the NFL which as I said before would have made her being pregnant with his baby seem not that big of a deal. Going as a first rounder he could have easily plaid 100,000 a year in child support and not even miss it

The Baton Rouge city police locally made it known that he was never a suspect. But they didn't step up and say anything when the rumors began to spread nationally and allowed his name to be dragged through the mud. Smdh
And they did say that, and ESPN and other sport outlet never said anything about it. They just jump on him, just cause it was his bm r bf
@@ndairinc9179 If I'm correct they had maybe dated for a short time the year before and the city police spoke with him and for whatever reason used his name as a point of reference. It was definitely gross negligence on the part of all the adults involved. His life was almost ruined for something everyone knew he had absolutely nothing to do with.
I remember the police actually holding a press conference with national media telling them he was not a suspect
@@greezythumb Yes but it was after he had already been dragged thru the mud
@@supreme504 Well yea. Were they supposed to make some national announcement that "we will bring Collins in for questioning but he's not a suspect" before anyone knew anything? When does the police do that and why would they? They bring people in for questioning everyday. When they did have the press conference to make it clear the air, they didn't have to do that, but they did. Who knew the media was gonna get wind of the investigation and take it and run before they got their facts right? This is pretty much hindsight. Also, yes, I know all too well how corrupt the BRPD is. I have friends in the area that has told me all the horror stories. But, just my opinion, this one is the media's fault, not the police. Your position is to the contrary, that's cool. I respect that.

Basically the whole SEC knew he didn’t do it. The Saints fan boards were jumping up and down trying to get him signed.
I remember this. Him and Jerry both cried at his press conference introduction.
Man this was crazy! I was still waiting for someone to say that he did it but I guess he didn’t. I hope they find out who did because they almost ruined this man’s life
What would his motive have been? I don’t see why he would want to kill this lady.
Going as a first rounder he could have easily plaid 100,000 a year in child support and not even miss it
He’s fine, nothings gonna happen to him

Jerry Jones Cowboys AKA Last chance NFL. Adam "Pacman" Jones, Randy Gregory, Dez Bryant, Greg Hardy, Rolando McClain, La'el Collins and this year T J Vasher.
Dez Bryant was a first round pick and played for the Cowboys for his whole career... what r u talking about?
@@ahmadwhitaker5113 Dez Bryant was considered "Toxic" by many teams based on various scouting reports coming out of Oklahoma State University.
Here's a statement about Bryant from an NFL scout.
Before Dez Bryant's 2012 breakout season and newfound maturity, the Dallas Cowboys were roundly criticized for ignoring a laundry list of red flags trailing the troubled Oklahoma State star. In fact, former Cowboys scout Bryan Broaddus told KRLD-FM last week that "Bryant had the worst background of any player he had ever seen coming out of college".

@@ahmadwhitaker5113 Okay I'm with you on that. My use of the term was to portray Jerry Jones as a guy that never listen to when scouts and reporters list players as untouchable. Believe me without Jerry Jones, Dez Bryant could've slipped way down the draft.

Just look at the tape on T J Vasher this year and how he wasn't even drafted. After Ja'Marr Chase his "Tape" is the most impressive to me of all the WRs in the 2021 Draft. Including Smith and Waddle.
