  • True Crime: This is the chilling story of Karabo Mokoena and Sandile Mantsoe. Karabo was an advocate for women's rights, but in April 2017 she would find herself trapped in the very evil she had been campaigning against. Sandile Mantsoe was a forex trader, and supposedly rich, but to add to his list of damning characteristics, Sandile was actually in debt by the tens of thousands. He was coined as "The Devil in disguise" by a judge in his trial.

If I’m being honest, I knew exactly who I was dealing with the day I met him. I didn’t need to have all the details to know who he was. You have actually melted yourself to him, and it hurts to pull away; therefore, women think it’s less emotional work to stay. Staying just make the ties become tighter to break from. That’s why we have to use the smarts God has given us ahead of time, because she could’ve checked out his background and found out he was a fraud, before sleeping with him! @@divinecommerce3912 Well... to be fair, I think the general popular argument of victim blaming can tend to be a bit of a false dilemma, more often than not. You can technically be _at fault_ for something, and take it as an opportunity to adapt, while simultaneously realizing that you yourself aren't the one to blame for the situation. Could you have done things to mitigate it? Yes, at least potentially. But in the moment, we can forget safety precautions, or cave to pressure. You don't _have_ hindsight in the present. You should not be blamed for going about your daily life unaware, but it should also stand to reason that you yourself are also responsible for your own actions in bad situations. Do not blame yourself for things outside of your control. The actions of others, good or bad, are theirs. They should pay for them, especially for crimes that heinous. There is no changing what has happened in the past, however you can take from that experience and use it to _potentially_ prevent something like that from happening again. That's why we have hindsight. Of course, there's always the chance that you can do something perfectly and still wind up in a bad situation, but at least taking actions to mitigate it makes that chance a lot slimmer.
I hope this helps explain some things a bit better, and I wish you all the luck in your recovery. You are not to blame for a stupid man's atrocious acts, and I hope you can find strength in the future.

The #1 RED FLAG 🚩 that most all women miss is the 1st sign of an abuser: Boundary moving & pushing. This means the abuser shows signs that he doesn't respect what you say, ask or think. For example, maybe you text him that you'll be out with friends tonight & that you'll call him in the morning. You just set 2 boundaries:1) Respect my space when I'm with my friends & 2) Respect when I choose to speak to you. But then he calls while you're out that night, or he even shows up. At 1st he's charming & explains he was just too excited & wanted to see you. So you feel flattered. DON'T BE FLATTERED. BE DEEPLY CONCERNED. This is a MAJOR WARNING SIGN that they don't respect you & that they have impulse control issues. An abuser will always move your boundaries in the beginning. Eventually that lack of respect & lack of self control turns into abuse. See the warning signs early and then avoid that person in the beginning. You will save yourself from so much pain later on and maybe even save your life.

These cases are just so difficult and heartbreaking. My father has just retired from my country’s special K-9 unit, and on multiple occasions he has been dispatched to save a victim from an active domestic assault, only to be ATTACKED by the woman herself once he actually apprehends the man who has viciously beaten his partner. Da said it’s like a switch suddenly flicks in them - even when these women have multiple old and new SEVERE contusions, broken noses etc - they are as likely to attack the officer, screaming that they’ve changed their mind or that they themselves (the beaten woman) are at fault, as the domestic abuser is cuffed, lead them away etc. Da has almost been stabbed twice by a woman who suddenly freaked out and didn’t want her abuser taken away after all.

I think this case really shows that while it is easy to say "just leave" and people not in the situation can't understand why the person doesn't just walk away, it's just not that easy.
There can be numerous reasons why it's not easy. Money, love, threats, fear, emotional abuse that have torn the person down, even sometimes a bit of 'ego' in the sense that the victim might think they can change the abuser. And even hope, hope that this time the promises are real and will be followed through on.
Even though Karabo(Ka-Ra-Beau) knew all about abuse in relationships she still got caught and ended up in just such a situation. Not because she was stupid or blind, but because these abusers are smart and good actors that hide their true selves until you are at their mercy (moved in, married, pregnant etc) and they have control or until they have broken the victim don't with emotional abuse, which can be very, very subtle.
There is a reason why so many people say "i can't believe they was like that, they was so friendly, they seemed so normal" etc.

    • @bluebree

As a victim of abuse/domestic violence, I always hear "Why didn't you just leave" to me that comment is so ignorant and insulting. Many have reasons why they can't just leave. Thank you for making this comment because a lot of people tend to victim-blame. Abuse is never your fault. It's the perpetrator's fault for being such a vile human being.

And I haven’t seen one video of him making a joke about the victim in fact he makes fun of the killer. Makes jokes about them and even disrespects them completely. Sometimes doesn’t even treat them like people instead like an object or a monster. I’ve had some situations happen twice to close ones and the fact that someone can make people laugh in such painful situations does more good than bad. Especially when he spreads awareness about it.

@Shimohira Reika no, women don't enjoy being abused.
The most dangerous time in a relationship like that is when you leave. I've been through it myself before and recently. It takes an average of 7 times to leave.
It also even might seem safer to stay in that relationship because at least you can keep track of the abuser and you know his usual behavior. When you leave they rage for weeks/months and you end up being murdered, stalked, assaulted, etc worse than usual.
I'm actually going through being stalked right now due to this. It's not easy especially when your self esteem has been strategically worn down and you've been brainwashed. :( I'm a DV advocate too even
I grew up being abused and seeing my mom abused. I'd get mad at her for not leaving my dad. I swore that would never happen to me... and it did. Multiple times.
A real risk factor for ending up in an abusive relationship is thinking it won't happen to you :(
Victims need understanding and compassion. If I wanted someone to blame me and shame me I'd just stay with the abuser who does that anyway. It's my fault for not leaving sooner so I might as well stay because now I'm stuck and the abuse will get worse if I leave... so I'll just stay. The devil you know...

Really enjoy your videos. It's nice to hear someone mention some of the many beautiful things about our country, despite our very high crime rate. Other people often paint a one-sided picture of life in SA. I haven't found a video of Oscar Pistorius. Although it was over-publicised when the investigation and hearing were going on, It would be nice to hear your take on it.

South Africa currently experiencing its worst peak with Gender base violence. Please look into the case of Uyinene Mrwetyana. Her case also called for radical change in South Africa.
