@@kadi611 Yeah I think it was two fold. It let him look innocent and it got someone to get his daughter, otherwise he'd have had to leave her there for days alone while he pretended to do a business trip. It's also weird she had clean pajamas, like someone cleaned her up.
@@kadi611 That was my thought, too. Seems like he legit loved his daughter (or at least didn't want her to starve to death) so he had to do something to get someone in the house.
I think him calling his sister in law with that story about the supposed print out is one of the most disgusting parts. He made her go to his house in the full knowledge that she would find her sister and have to deal with those images forever.
Yes, I agree. He wanted his sister in law to find the body. If he didn't care about his pregnant wife, I don't think he gave a sh-t about his sister in law or how this would affect her (probably didn't like her either).

22:39 I was one of Cassidy’s preschool teachers when this happened. That was my coteacher and the dolls from my classroom in the picture in this video. We both had to testify in his second trial. Michelle was an amazing mother and Cassidy was a smart little girl (definitely advanced for her age even though she was only 2 and a half when her mother was murdered). This case changed my life forever. I think of Michele and her family often. I still keep in touch with her sister, Meredith. Cassidy is a beautiful young woman and is in college now. I know Michelle watches over her and is so proud of everything she has accomplished.

Absolutely devastating. I can’t even imagine. “Mommy mommy wake up what’s wrong”. She probably didn’t know she was dead. Breaks my heart even thinking about it.
The thought of her giving her the doll to comfort her is what took me out, I'm just glad she was young enough that she probably doesn't remember any of it

Just to imagine the daughter staying hours close to her mother's lifeless body covered by blood is unbearable. As an adult, I saw my own cousin kill himself in front of me, and I am still learning to deal with it after more than a decade. Now, can you imagine how this horrifying scene can traumatize a child? My prayers go to the child. May she grow healthy both physically and mentally. And may she find the happiness her mother wanted for her.

@@jeannietarantola8173 Jeannie, I am sorry to hear. My prayer goes to you too. I have learned that the pain never goes away, but we learn to live with it. It has been a learning process that I don't think I will never graduate, but you can barely pass every semester. Well, that is my own experience anyway. Just remember that you don't need to suffer alone! You are not alone.
The thought of the daughter giving her mother a doll to help make her feel better is so heart wrenching. I can't imagine what it's like to be so small and innocent and have no idea what's going on and why your mom is not moving. I hope at least she did not see the full events unfold and that she's been able to find peace now.

It's almost as bad as the Christa Worthington case. I couldn't help but ti cry when they spoke of her little girl trying to comfort & feed off her dead mother. Poor babies.
I wanted to comment on this as I have a 2 year old, and that part just made me cry. Also I believe he sent her sister there for the child, murderer as he is he probably didn't want to hurt the child. I believe you have to be on another level to just hurt a child. You really need to have no soul whatsoever, so maybe he had a shred of that I don't know...

He did it. He mercilessly tortured and murdered her, sent her sister to find her, but most disturbing….he left her baby daughter with her Momma’s dead body. That is soul shattering. 💔

I wouldn’t doubt that the car accident was also intentional. Maybe only to terminate the pregnancy or to kill her this way, which would cause less suspicion.
If he’s guilty of this murder, the action to kill her in front of their child, then leave the child there AND send his sister in law over to find her body, is beyond evil.

But he had no reason to want to kill her at that time.

By my math the daughter is now 18. I hope that she is on her way to a successful, peaceful life in spite of the horror that occurred.
Me too. Originally she was in the care of her father, who wouldn't allow her mother's family to have any contact with her. Then custody was transferred to the mother's family after he was imprisoned. By that point she may not even remember them from when she was so small. She would have been in elementary school at the time, that's such a confusing thing for a little girl to have to process. I hope she's had the right support throughout her life.
A commenter above (details made it seem legitimate) said she is in college now. So,.going into massive debt for likely zero benefit, but alive and well.

I'm so relieved to learn that Michelle's daughter is being raised by her aunt. She will certainly be loved and nurtured by someone who will understand and support her. God bless the whole family. My Love and strength to you all x
My sister, Emily Elizabeth Fulton was murdered by her husband, Jason Evans. Similar to the Jason in this story, Evans also called several family members after killing my sister. He attempted to blame her for what had happened by claiming she was shot by accident. Once he realized no one would believe him, the coward blew out his brains. Their six children, now orphans, were present in the house at the time of their parents' deaths.
This story hit home for me. The red flags are always the same. Physical abuse, mental abuse, infidelity, frequent fights, complete control over the victim. Looking back, the signs were obvious. Examine the relationships around you, and you could prevent a tragedy.

That baby doll was 100% put there by her daughter to comfort her mother. My daughter has done things like this when I was sleeping on the couch. She would bring me stuffed animals and other things because I normally sleep with a stuffed bear. Kids are so good and it breaks my heart that she was there with her mom
As someone who is divorced with two kids. I can't imagine taking their mother from them, no matter how much you don't care for her anymore, she still means everything to the children that are supposed to mean everything to you.

I have sisters and a toddler niece… hearing that 911 call, knowing that sister came upon her sibling & niece in that manner brought tears to my eyes. I doubt I’d be able to maintain myself as she did. No matter how many stories I hear I’m continually surprised at how demonic people can be

This one really got to me. I have a 2 year old daughter and am struggling through a difficult divorce with her abusive father. This would have been my story if I'd not left him.

I've watched several of these videos but this case gets to me in a visceral way. That poor child trying to comfort her dead mother and wondering around the house ALONE and unsupervised and trying to clean the blood off just sickens me and shakes me. This man is truly evil. And then to send her sister there!
I think that the car accident when she got pregnant for the second time wasn't an accident. I think he was trying to cause a miscarriage, and when she fell pregnant for the third time, that was when he decided he had to kill her. Why not just divorce her probably had something to do with child support or alimony.

But everybody knows that it takes 2 to tango...he had to agree to have unprotected sex with her after the car "accident"...so why do that if there's a good chance she will get pregnant again with their 2nd child, when he's, by then, having a full-blown affair??? Neither of them had much money or a business to protect...divorcing a woman who's got 1 small child (that was unplanned and the only reason they got married) is a lot easier than divorcing a wife with 2+ children, of which some were planned. I guess I don't know why he was still having kids with her, when he was having an affair? Everybody knows how kids are made. But I think you're right about the child support/alimony, in the end. Poor lady who was his wife.

Alimony isn't just handed out and not every state even grants it at all, it is an option but rarely done in many states. In most cases alimony is to support the ex spouse until they can find another means of support that can keep them in the current life comforts, generally it's for the rich, or if a spouse has supported and seen her husband through school, he might then have to pay her alimony. Sometimes it's for life, sometimes until the spouse remarries, and other times their is a set time. Michelle and the ugly guy she married didn't have that kind of income or lifestyle that would allow for alimony consideration.
The fact that she had to marry someone just to get health insurance to give birth is so sad

Poor people get free medical care. People over 65 get almost free medical care. Most employers provide medical care subsidies. So, if she couldn’t get insurance for free, then they obviously made sufficient money to buy their own, today, that would be more than $29,974/year- and she made the choice not to buy it. It was their choice. Pregnancy hasn’t been considered a preexisting condition since 2014, so she would have either free guaranteed coverage, or they could immediately walk into an insurance office and buy coverage starting that day.
She shoulda been married before giving birth anyway, so...
My mom is a psychologist. She says often the best indicator of future behavior is relevant past behavior.
The worst part of this is that poor little kid having to see her mom like that and not understanding it. Makes my heart ache and my stomach churn.

That's how anyone would react. Often the caller we here in these videos were involved or did it. Her being calm is what shock would do.

She should have asked for the cops straight up. Any attempt to revive her cold, dead sister was destroying evidence. I wonder if that's why it was so hard to build a case against Jason.

DO NOT kill your spouse. Divorce can be messy, stressful, frustrating, and aggravating, we all know... but killing them off is ALWAYS much worse for everyone. Just don't do it.
He sent a close relative to find her sister dead. As someone who’s found a dead relative who passed peacefully, that was horrid enough. Let alone a blood bath and suspicious and dangerous feeling situation.

Right. I was there as a child when my grandma died and that still is traumatic for me. Thinking about what the sister and innocent little baby had to see makes me feel physicality sick to my stomach. I hope they were/are able to get counseling or therapy to help them process.
Agreed. One of my grandma's sisters found a distant next door relative dead after days in a hot house. i can't imagine how that was. Sadly, years later she was found peacefully deceased by her youngest sister. I think about that often.

I watched another documentary about this case and it hinted that it may not have been his first attempt to kill his wife; the "car accident" that was mentioned earlier was likely intentional.

I will NEVER understand how divorce is believed to be worse than murder to so many people ! I’m a true crime junkie and time after time I see cases like this one. It makes zero sense!!! I feel horrible for Michelle’s family , especially her young daughter who witnessed her mother being murdered.

What a sad story. This guy is definitely good for this. No forced entry, matching shoe print, having an affair, and no one else had a motive to do this. If it was a stranger, the daughter would have been killed. Nothing stolen. He definitely did it.

The 911 call gave me chills, you can hear the sheer terror and pain in her sister’s voice. That poor, poor baby having to see her mother be killed so violently and then just left. The more I listen to these stories, the more I lose faith in humanity.
That's why it's a good idea too switch off now and again and watch some comedy or a uplifting movie. Watching this stuff too much isn't good for your mental health.
If you listen carefully, you can also hear little Cassidy babbling in the background during the call. I can’t make out what she’s saying, but the poor baby was likely confused and scared by all the chaos around her. 🥺
I think the only thing that can explain him getting a hotel only half way to his work meeting, is to drive back and commit the crime. It's also way too coincidental that the hotel camera was turned upward. He clearly snuck out from that emergency exit.
True. I thought the same. Why stay at a hotel an hour away from home for a meeting 2hrs away? Sociopaths aren't as smart as they think they are.
I bet he stayed at that hotel previously to work out how to sneak around there. They would have had footage of him there under a fake name previously checking out where the cameras were and how to hold the door open etc.
What a horrible man! I have to say though, I COMMEND the 911 operator. What a GREAT job he did! He was patient, calm, and diligent. They sometimes seem to add stress to already the most stressful day that person may ever experience.
Wholeheartedly agree. Normally the 911 operators we see in this shows are horrendous. This man was soothing, calm, and professional. He sounded like a grandpa. Wonderful.
It tore my heart out knowing that little baby girl was in there and possibly tried to comfort and help her mother as she laid there dying. She was covered in her own mother's blood, and that is horrific. I don't get why people kill their significant others. If you don't want to be with someone anymore, get a divorce.
Omg that poor baby…seeing those tiny, bloody footprints. Knowing that is the blood of her mother. The toy she left near her mother’s head and you KNOW she was trying to wake mommy or give her the toy so she would feel better. She tried to care for her mom the best she could and she was just a tiny little girl. God. Please RIP Michelle.

As I am right outside of Raleigh, I remember the Young case, w/ little Cassidy's footprints in her mothers' blood. She has grown into such a beautiful young woman herself. I cant believe it's been so long now. If I remember correctly, after the verdict was announced, the members of the jury went to the gravesite of Michelle & her unborn child & they all held hands around the grave. Adrian, maybe head back to NC (Durham this time) & cover the murder of Janet Abaroa?
The sister being composed was likely for the baby. When I was younger I was able to compose myself in scary situations that normal made me panic (obviously nothing in comparison) if my little brother was there because I didn't want to upset him. As long as i was ok he would stay calmer. So that could have helped her retain some composure. Im sure the disbelief and shock helps to. You never know how you'll respond to traumatizing situations.
I rarely ever say this but you are one of the few true crime channels i thoroughly enjoy watching. I really like your style of narrating the cases while always respecting the victims, also speedy recovery!
You're one of my favorite true crime channels for several reasons, the most important one is the deep respect you give every victim and focusing the case on them instead of the perpetrators. Thank you for giving them all the time and attention they deserve.

What a sad and harrowing story. I'm amazed by the composure the sister displayed during the 911 call.
Gosh. This one was just particularly hard because of the details of her daughter... how heartbreaking and tragic for that poor baby girl. And for the woman to find her sister that way :(
I've watched hundreds of hours of true crime content from you and a few other top tier RUclips channels. This case broke me man. The fact the little baby girl placed the doll(supposedly) by her mother, the tiny bloody prints... Idk it just made me break. I'm crying for her daughter and her family.
It’s crazy to think about how many crimes like these have happened throughout history (all the way back to ancient times), when there was NO police, NO DNA, and NO cameras. Society was RAW back then. Murders must have taken place like wildfire, and many killers were NEVER caught and probably lived the rest of their lives normally, or an innocent person was punished instead. Deadly house fires that were brushed off as accidents. Spousal murders that were labeled as natural death or an enemy tribe attack. Murder of unwanted children attributed to coincidental errors. All you had to do was quite literally “wash your hands of blood” and nobody would ever know. It is truly scary stuff. And I am grateful for the technology and law enforcement system we have today, even though it’s far from perfect.
If you look through history people were better. Confessions were common. Truthfulness. Being a "man" and taking your justice was considered noble.

The stone in the door sold me on his guilt..even if he didnt do it. He allowed someone to and knows what happend. The mistress also sealed his fate in my eyes.
As many lawyers have said, sometimes a very circumstantial case is just as good as one with a lot of good evidence. Of course he killed her… most pregnant wives are killed by their husbands. It’s the number one cause of death ( murder of a pregnant wife). It reminds me of laci and Scott Peterson. I hope the dog was ok

I think in this case though it's not just about the fact they are curcumstantial but also the fact there's literally no other possible suspect. Only someone very close to the family could have entered without forcing their way in nor alarm the dog. That reduces the amount of suspects by quite a lot... and then the husband is the only one with an actual motive and who had issues with the wife.
If all they literally had were the details about the hotel and such, I don't think they would have judged him guilty.
You and That Chapter are the absolute best channels going for crime on RUclips! The respect you give the victims are unparalleled, and a lot of research and detail results in a great production! I totally think the jury got this right. It's obvious he was responsible. What's more, I doubt the accident that caused her to miscarry was actually an accident- someone willing to do this would absolutely be willing to try to cause her to miscarry in that way.
I don't get why on earth he didn't just talk to her and tell her he didn't want more kids? Like there was definitely a non-murderous way to go about that.

The whole driving off a cliff thing really ties it all together for me. Who just does that? Plus all the other stuff. It's too weird. Really sad. She just wanted a happy life but ended up crossing paths with a wolf in man's clothing.
Wonder if there were airbags in the passenger sides or just the driver, so he knew he would have better odds at surviving the wreck. Seems ballsy though, to risk injuries like that.
Now now, let's not offend wolves by comparing them to this poor excuse for a man. Wolves are very straightforward in their attacks, actually. They are hungry, they want to eat you, therefore they have to kill you: to eat. Not because they want to have an affair and are afraid of growing up.

Jason is a selfish individual who went to great lengths to establish an alibi. Divorce would have been the best and not deadly way to end a marriage. In my opinion he is guilty and deserves a life sentence without parole. A pity that their young daughter is without her parents. She is obviously being raised by her loving aunt.

That he called the sister about the bag suprise and have her going there early, seems suspicious. I can imagine him wanting the daughter to be found asap. I even wonder if the ''accident'' where they ended up in the water was an accident at all.
Yes, having the daughter being taken care of...AND him n-o-t being the one who finds her dead is important too. Yeah, that's what I was thinking too...was that r-e-a-l-l-y a car "accident" or was it preplanned?...he probably was having the affair at that time too. Why he didn't just divorce her, after she lost the baby, because then they'd only have one child...why try again and get her pregnant with a 2nd child after that...while he was having an affair???

He didn't care about his daughter. He wanted his wife's murder discovered and himself to be in the clear quickly so he could move on with the life he killed her for.

This should be the 911 standard! Too many operators treat someone who is obviously in shock like a criminal. This operator was calm without being rude and sympathetic while still able to get vital information. I knew it could be done!
Sympathizing and empathizing takes energy and a little piece of you with it. Most people aren't willing to put in that energy
@@PoptartParasol it's not that, but try to imagine sitting there for 7-9 hours a day, 5 days a week taking call after call like that. Hearing the absolute worst that people are going through. Are you going to be emotional and caring or every call? My father was state police/detective for 25 years, retired and did 911 calls after. He said he quit after 6ish month because it was the hardest amd most soul destroying job he ever did. The 911 guy in this call did amazing but they are not there for emotional support till after they get as much information they can
@@trossk I completely get that. I'm referring to the ones who are straight up rude and argumentative. I've heard some that are just short of victimizing a victim all over again. I know they're not there to be therapists and have a specific job to do. I don't think people know exactly what they're getting into when deciding to become a 911 operator. It takes a special set of skills and not a lot of people can do it for a long period. I have the utmost respect for people who can do that job. I would like to think I could do it but realistically, I wouldn't be able to handle it.
@@trossk total respect for what your father did my mom was a telephonist years ago that worked at the telephone exchange in the UK ...the lady that taught her actually took the call that said her home was burning down with her children inside ...my mom quit the next day ...it's an incredibly hard job that I for one know I couldn't do ..I listen to true 911 calls and for every empathetic and efficient operator there are unfortunately many that should never have taken the job and have caused delays in people being saved .. thankfully those seem to be few x

The challenges that child possibly faces in the future makes me so sad. I have severe trauma from my childhood and all I can think about is that poor little girl.

Hopefully she was closer to just turning two than she was closer to 3. I think a 3 year old 's brain is much more capable of remembering something this traumatizing. Hopefully the girl doesn't remember anything from that night.

He’s so obviously guilty - he sent Michelle’s sister around to ‘collect the copy of the handbag listing from the printer’ as he was fully aware that Michelle was dead and Cassidy was still alive, there on her own and had been for 8 hours or so.
Even though he’s a callous wife killer he must’ve had some degree of concern for his daughter to prompt him to do this.
RIP Michelle. I hope Cassidy is having the best life that she can - I speak from bitter experience that losing a parent young stays with you forever, and can’t quite comprehend what she must have been through.

I’m sorry but whether or not he is guilty I don’t know but I do know he shouldn’t have been found guilty, this is not what justice should look like, giving people life in jail over superficial evidence and based strictly on speculation, there should be a solid case this case wasn’t solid at all just bitter exes and speculation, no real evidence at all. This is how innocent people end up in jail and I’m not saying he’s innocent but for the rest of us this is an L for the U.S justice system.
@@paperroute5366 You have to remember that this is just a snippet of a very complicated story. I have read up on this case, and there is a lot more to it. By the end of this trial, the jury decided that Jason was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of murdering Michelle Young, and each and every one of them stands firm in their decision to this day. Obviously the circumstantial evidence was overwhelming in this case, and the jury saw it as such. They were obviously exposed to way more evidence than the public was as well, which also included a description of the murder by his daughter.
In the end the right man is in prison, and I for one am thankful a monster isn't walking free after committing such a heinous crime. Especially because I could see this guy doing it again.

My sister's daughter attends that college. She's three years older than Michelle's daughter. Her daughter is still so young, having gone through that experience as such a small child and living all of these years not just with a murdered mother but that her father is the murderer. I suspect I'll be hugging my niece extra tight when I see her next month.
At two years old she hasn't developed a memory yet. It could be there was no trauma - just some harsh truths to process a bit later in childhood

This would give reason for her sister to go over, find Michelle and take care of their daughter. Another coincidence? I think not.

One case that happened where I use to live in Florida was pretty sad. It was the Billings in Pensacola,FL. At one point someone offered us to buy the house but the oldest daughter kept it. It was heart breaking and unnecessary. They were truly amazing people. Love your channel, it's my favorite.

I suffer from chronic pain and mental health issues. Both of those contributed to me being distant from my family for a long time. When I came home, my niece was 10 and my nephew was 4. My nephew found me on the couch once, curled up in pain, and without saying anything he brought me his prized Yoshi stuffie to help me feel better. It’s so heartbreaking that the little two year old child tried to do the same for her dead mother. Children are messy and difficult, but their empathy and love knows no bounds. I hope she and the rest of the family are doing well.
