  • Superworms is a very popular food for reptiles. With less chitin (exoskeleton) than the common mealworm they are easier for your animal to digest. With time and patients you can easily raise all your own superworms.
    These video showing my setup to breed superworm. Its a very small scale setup but its enough for my bearded dragon Bartl.
    There is also as time-leapse sequence showing the transformation from a worm to a pupae. Hope you will enjoy our video, in case you have any questions, please post it below. Thanks for watching and subsribing!

    Such an adorable little guy!!!!! I think I may have a couple of worms already creating their own. I keep seeing these black bugs. But then again, the last order of supers was a riot. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why the growers would do such a good job with the box, but there were perfect holes in a couple of corners.... duh... this was the first Time I had a group digging escape tunnels. I actually set the box on top of Fredi's tank. She was like a kid at xmas. Watched the little suckers esCape the box and fall right into the tank, and was on 'me pretty fast (for a box turtle).

      Feel free to do so, althtough not sure if they will survive. Depends on where you live and if its warm enough.

      ツ do not do this, setting domestic animals and insects can harm the environment.

    Bearded Dragons are such awesome pets. It's really fun to raise em and watch em grow. They're very calm too. Plus they can grow back any limb they'd lose. Even nails. Not to mention they're tough and heavily armored all over. The best part about em is when they get defensive they spike up and look like delophisaurs!

    • @JA-ux1rz
      @JA-ux1rz 7 лет назад +2

      No they do not grow back any limbs. Please research.

    Excellent video. I started a superworm farm myself and just saw that I have a few pupa in the ones I separated. I started it up to help some friends save money on buying worms at the store for their bearded dragon. Also figured they could be a nice treat for our Oscar's. And well just fun to do too. Thanks for the time lapse of larva to pupate. It was exactly what I was looking for.

      +BeardedDragonsInfo I ordered about 2000 medium-sized superworms so they are about '1.5 inches long. and I wanted to breed some. So I grabbed about three and put them in small separate containers. Will it take more than 12 days for them to pupae, since they aren't full grown?

      BeardedDragonsInfo I got a question. Iggy was a rescue from my neighbor who burnt her tail and try to flush her down the toilet, she is not really active and hardly goes to the bathroom. (I have to put her in warm water and rub her butt to make her go.) Do I need change her diet up? Even when I have her out, all she does is sleep whether she's on me, my bed, the floor, table, ect. What should I do? I love that little princess.

      A bearded dragon always needs dessert like temperatures and need more space than a hamster. A bearded dragon can live up to 15 years and a hamster only 2 years.
      If you dont want to take the bigger responsibility for a bearded dragon that I would suggest to take a hamster as he will be easier to handle.

    • @BeardedDragonsInfo

      They either die, because of no food or they start their transformation. In this case you will have beetles crawling around.

    • @shadowyuko1
      @shadowyuko1 9 лет назад

      BeardedDragonsInfo Also, I tried to start up breeding superworms as well and it is not going to well. It is almost 14 days and not a single one of them is curled up. I keep them in a 73+ degrees F room in a dark spot. Not sure if I am doing something wrong. I do not have any food in the containers. Is it maybe because I check up on them 1 to 2 times a day?

    • @BeardedDragonsInfo
      @BeardedDragonsInfo  9 лет назад +1

      Did you keep each worm separate from each other? If not then try it as they will start to transform much faster.

    • @shadowyuko1
      @shadowyuko1 9 лет назад

      I am using a tackle box organizer that holds 34 slots and I have only 1 in each compartment. I have 2 airholes per square and each compartment has nothing other than just the superworm.

    • @BeardedDragonsInfo
      @BeardedDragonsInfo  9 лет назад +1

      Ok, this should be fine. Have you fed them before you placed them in the compartment, because you should.
      I think the setup is fine and it should work. Maybe wait another week or two and let me know how it went. Couple of them will die but around 50% should start their transformation.
