i bought some large superworms two days ago my question is will they slow down when they are ready to go into their pupa stage? they act like they are to active right now to put into individual compartments right now.
Do the worms eat the oatmeal? Or do they eat vegetables? If I just put them in a terrarium would they eat the substrate and be fine? Do they have to stay dry? Or could I raise them in frog habitats where it's damp or wet? I have 8 beetles (huge!) But I'm not sure whether to put them in with the adult worms? Everyone, please watch my tiny nature videos. There is no talking in them. Shhh!
Beetles should be kept in a seperate cage for maximum yield. They eat the oatmeal but need veggies for water No they cannot survive in a frog terrarium, they need to stay dry They would not be fine just eating the substrate
Okay. I found two more beetles. I had put then in different places but nothing ate them, they just transformed into beetles, that's why I have ten now, but no more. I picked thru the Superworm container (a plastic shoebox, inside a slightly larger plastic box) and there were only 10 or 15 Superworms in it so I took them out and gave it to the beetles. I took toilet paper tubes and cut them in half, and put those in there for them to hide underneath. Then I cut a potato in half and put that on top of the half tubes, along with the partially dried potato pieces the worms had. And there is oatmeal underneath it all for them to eat and maybe lay eggs in. Then I put a piece of cheap dark screen-cloth (that lets in lots of light and air) over the top and sides of the plastic box in case the beetles like dim light better, and to keep them from flying out (one extended its wing covers like it was going to fly out), and I left it like that overnight. I then found out there are thousands of grain mites crawling on everything (easy to see against the dark cloth) so I washed the cloth with soap and warm water to hopefully kill the mites, and then wrapped it back around the box while still damp. Maybe I can get rid of most of the mites if I keep washing them off the cloth. While the cloth was off I saw the beetles crawling around on everything, so I guess they are okay so far.
Nice Super Worms colony and nice video thanks...
How long do the beetles live for
if it wasn't for the god damn beetle phase i would've bred them no problem. Here i was sitting thinking this will be easy
cj18 legit same
Yeah I was considering breeding them for my bearded dragon
Thanks for making the video! I'll definitely try it out
hi litte white then on lide see any in would be
Keeping the potatoes in there wont it cause mold?
I have not experienced that issue. Usually the superworms eat the potatoes pretty quickly and the oats absorb a lot of the extra moisture
yes it will if u put it were the oats r ...i done it once n it was not a good idea...
Can you feed off the super worm beetles?
Can you make a video for essential russian tortoise supplies and optional supplies?
+TBA Animations yes, thank you for the good idea
do you peel the potatoes you put in for the adult superworms
no need. Keeping the peel on will actually help the potato last longer. Just make sure you cut them in half
RussianTorts raw?
Will I be successful picking 10 super worms to pupate? How do I know if I have females ?
Can you do a new video with mealworms
Just wanted to know how long have you noticed your beetles lifespan to be? I have heard they live a long time is it true?
I love the beetles there my fav part
They only live for 1 year
what substrate are you using?
For the supers? Just some steel cut oats
how many superworms do i need to buy to start a breeding..
Start with a tub of 100. That'll get you going
In Norway i pay about $12 for 10 worms, thats expensive.
Do pacmans eat the beetles?
I'm sure they would. Beetles are valuable though as they lay hundreds of eggs so I would not waste them as food
Pacmans literally eat any thing that moves.
Could do with some fresh fruits in
Am i the only one who noticed the german car plate number?
Good info..Thanks for sharing!
Your beetle drawer is a mess lmao
Yes, yes it is
RussianTorts whatever works man. Any harvest is a good harvest.
I want to do this !!! 💙
1000 superworms online was 12 dollars
That's a pretty sweet deal. At that point it is not even worth breeding them
itsdanielman That is a great deal I only bought 200 for 10 but also people breed them just to feed their animals also as just a new project to work on
Its_Danny no it wasnt
RussianTorts if got Tarantulas etc its worth breeding them. Keeping the beetles and superworms going year round as food for your pets and to sell
What about gut loading them with nutrients your reptile needs?
I’ve been trying to breed them now for 8 months so far no luck
dont throw the oats when u changing it..put it in another container cuz u might have eggs in there, they r micro eggs..i learned that the hard way...

Once you put them in the individual compartments they wil slow down. In the container with other super worms they will stay active
thanks for the reply i will do that i wasnt sure i think i will gut load them for a couple of days and then seperate them. again thanks!!
Just to tell / Let you know Dragon's will and love to eat the beetles to our at least mine do. (Just a FYI do what you want with it)
It's best to avoid it or supervise it very well because the beetles can draw blood
In America I can buy 50 for $3
Stick man history i can buy 250 for $5
at rainbowmealworms

how do the Beatles die ?
Well their life span ends and all their bodily functions stop working as the beetle grows colder and is officialy dead.
One was murdered. One died of cancer. Two are still alive.
