She shows so much trust and curiosity. Looks like a horse who is ready to buy into the concept of partnership. I loved the calm way she handled that board flipping at her.
I just wanted to say I’ve used your method with ALL my horses I completely started my first foal by using your method! And she became a absolutely amazing horse! So thank you for starting this RUclips channel and just being you because my horses have turned out fantastic because of your method!
I haven't watched the rest of Sam's videos. Which method did she use? I have a colt who is currently a yearling and I want him to get used to my presence and get comfortable around me.
I fell in love with this horse the first time I saw her, there is just something about her, not even just her personality and how willing to try she is but there is just something special in this mare. ❤️
That's really awesome I hope she does good for you I have 4 horses (2 mares 2 boys) and I'm training one of the boys that happen to be a huge massive Wild Mustang/Thoroughbred Stallion, he's 18hh nearly 1800 lbs it was a pain in the ass to train him but at least I challenged myself and so far he's became a pretty good horse even though he's still a Stallion. 22 years old with high functioning autism and I'm not trying to brag but I've been busting my ass off lately, but besides that it's incredible how you're starting to become friends with that wild mustang mare. They sure are incredible believe it or not especially the ones from the wild. Amazing mare right there.
I really like your video's. A month ago my horse was at a family farm. The space they had was too big.. There would be weeks where I was just searching everywhere to find my horse.. We finally moved our 4 horses.. And I'm starting over with them and bonding and trying my best to make sure they are happy.. With you making videos like this helps me alot.. ❤️ Thank you so much 😊🐴
I ride her every other day.. I'm doing grond work and grooming her alot.. Me and my horse was always soo close, and then if went downhill, but now everything is going so well 👍🏻❤️🐴
She is really trying to be good, I’ve heard the Devils Gardens horses have more domestic horses in their lines, so they are not as hot as some of the other HMA’s
@@SamVanFleet the Devil's garden Mustangs were ranch horses that escaped " way back when" in Modoc , Klamath, and Siskiyou counties....Ridgecrest did a wonderful job....seems some early socialization was done by the workers there.
@@jeanfish7 When they loaded her on to the truck during pickup, the man called her Tess, this would indicate they were familiar with her enough to give her a name.
She's a very nice mare, with a good brain. I like that even after she exhibited nervousness, she immeadiately looked to you for reassurance, showing that she is looking at you as her leader. Very nice mare, I look forward to her progress. If you haven't named her, I like Valentina, which is related to the Latin, 'valor' for brave. Also because she so red.
I have an Arab with this temperament .... he is 11 and I just got him a couple of months ago. I am an older rider, learning dressage so I needed a horse that was calm and curious. I feel like I was gifted exactly what I need. He is so patient and sweet. I am learning to read his horse cues which is amazing. He is trusting, smart and willing as this girl is. Excited for you but it is going to be hard to let her go....maybe you won't! I get so much out of your videos on how to train a horse with kindness, still achieving the respect needed to stay safe. Thank you for doing this for us!
She is such a sweetheart! I love that when you’re working with her, you pull her bit by bit out of her comfort zone instead of all at once. You can see that she’s learning that you’re a good source of leadership (and scritches) really nice to see!
What is your opinion/thoughts on using treats for training? Particularly with a new, wild mustang? This mare seems very food motivated and calm - but also pushy.
I'd call her 'The Natural' as she is amazing!! She is absolutely mild mannered for a wild horse. She really trusts and is no nonsense. Love your natural intuitive type style. I envy your life!!
I really respect that you are using the fact that she's brave and quiet to better her groundwork and not jump right up in the saddle and rush that process. She'll be so much better because of your patience to be on her imo.
Please DO NOT mute your mike -- I like hearing how you use your voice to reward them, and keep up a steady contact while training. If anyone is bothered by repetition they can mute you and not deprive the rest of us learning via your voice along with your body cues, etc Sweet of you to consider it, though. Wow, she is coming along quite quickly -- only day 2 -- your work is amazing. I could definitely see the "kid" was more relaxed learning back in her pen. I love how fair you are in your work with these wild horses. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us.
I'm so impressed with her mind and personality. She takes everything in stride and she seems so smart too. She is going to make someone a really nice trustworthy horse. She is going to be fun to follow in her training. She is like a good will ambassador for mustangs!
That was fantastic! Those flies were driving me crazy and I can only imagine what it was like for you kids. So happy about the fly mask. Your constant reinforcement is great. Thanks for the video...loved every second.
Great Luck to you! This Mare is so sweet! Kind eye 👁 She almost looked like she opened her mouth.. first time haltering! Bit .. PIECE A CAKE ! Love your makeovers and your training! I’ve learned a lot from you with my Arabs!!!
This video was uber helpful for me! I help out with a horse that acts (and looks) just like her. That whole segment about being pushy is very helpful and I finally know how to correct that same pushiness in my gelding! Thank you! :)
What a foodie! Lol I love just how curious and calm she is with everything. It's hard to believe it's only day too. She is better at this stuff then some domesticated horses I know. Lol She is going to make such a wonderful mare for someone.
This horse is a blessing from the heavens. So gentle, curious and anxious to be your friend. She’s going to make someone so, so happy. I can’t wait to watch her progression.. I’m anxious just watching!! ❤️ By the way, she definitely reminds me of a Roxy.
This is so beneficial for me to watch even though I don't own a mustang. My new 3yr mare was hand reared and has a lot of similarities of wanting to be in my face, and is a bit pushy so definitely going to give this a go with her. I love you stern yet kind approach with all the release.
That's a really nice mare - love the training vids with her. @ about 15:20: I'd personally like it better if you left the volume of the training sessions in there instead of muting it, that way we can hear the voice markers and everything else that is happening while you are training.
You amaze me Sam! I'd love to adopt a horse you genteled A few weeks ago we went out to photograph the Onaqui herd (Utah) and had a magical experience when they walked past us. Hay definitely is a gourmet meal after seeing the forage the high desert horses eat. Best wishes to you and this mare.
She looks like so much fun to work with! I love when they're treat-motivated that early. My Dodger is a moonwalker too. I could probably lunge him in reverse.
hi i literally just saw u at the stables aka rous owner btw i idolize you and love all of the tricks that u do you made my birthday even more special thank u
Girl...I swear this someone's horse😍lol ❤️ You are doing an amazing job👍what a great match you two are🙏 I can not wait to keep watching daily progress. Its motivating me to keep working with my "STUD" mare 🤣❤️🐎
What a great video to see! Great how you read and interact with these Wild mustangs. I love your work Sam! Honestly...and I know it's just your job (and your passion!), but as a viewer I am REALLY happy to see you with a horse that doesn't want to EAT you! I'm just sayin'!!! It's a relief! Thanks for sharing! It was great to see the upload today! Best wishes! :)
Instead of bug spray, you might consider making a patch out of fly paper that you can affix to their face or neck that will eliminate the flies altogether.
Rare to have a wild mustang like her. She must have gotten loose at one time. Most I've seen are very rough looking animals. Once in awhile you find a nice one one but not very often. They lead a very rough life in the wild. And breed indiscriminately.
OMG I don't know which is more adorable U the horse's or ur training skills ? Man I'd love it if u were my neighbor ! Ur skill n patience R amazing ! "GOOD" "GIRL'LL" ! LOL !
Video coming later today or tomorrow. Yes, she is a wild mustang 🤦♀️
😂
Isidro got the really flighty one. Good luck with your mare. Your videos are actually helping me with very sensitive tb
Sam VanFleet I going to take her one day because she is so pretty
Sam VanFleet can u sell ur wild horse to me?
Mk
She has so much “try”! That was a lot of new learning for a wild horse and she seemed like she really wanted to do it right.
this horse wants to learn and be your friend, love her she's very pretty . smart she knows her life has been changed for the better.
Well said and I agree 100%!!! What a wonderful mare!!
💗🐴🐎
Yea I love her too already
The fact that she’s a wild mustang is astounding, she’s such a curious one. She’s so interested to learn and it quite beautiful to watch!

She is such a lovely mare. Whoever ends up with her is going to be super lucky.
she is a lot better at new things than my not wild mare
Em K Yep, me too,
I don't know if you already have a name for her but the name Juniper would suit her. I love seeing you work with this horse, she has a beautiful mind.
She’s such a good horse, she doesn’t even look wild. She wants to learn and be your friend, she’s smart and most of all brave. Love her already!

Yes!
Mark Watson I was wondering, I noticed Isidro’s mustang is following him pretty well, too and they came from the same place, same day.

She's extremely chill and has a good set of brains. You definitely got a winner there :)
