Mustang Magic 2019- Fiesta's Journey (100 Day Training Challenge)

  • Fiesta is a 4-year-old mustang from Blawn Wash Utah. She was my draw for the 2019 Mustang Magic competition in Fort Worth Texas. I was invited and selected to compete in this Extreme Mustang Makeover. This is her journey with me from pickup day until the competition.
    Trainers and mustangs spend approximately 120 days working together to prepare to compete in a series of classes that will showcase their new skills. The horses will compete in handling and conditioning, a mustang maneuvers class and a trail class. The Top 10 competitors then compete Saturday night in the freestyle finals. At the conclusion of the event all horses will be available to the public by competitive bid. Horse and trainer information, photos of horses, event schedules, tickets and more can be found on the Extreme Mustang Makeover website.

      Yeah, except I doubt that horse was born tattooed on the neck.
      And is it really "beautiful" to see a horse pulled from the wild and accepting captivity?

      @@mint83 you have to realize that technically horses are an invasive species in North America and due to both the lack of natural predator and control-hunting, they over populate and starve to death. It's far better to tame the horses and give them loving homes then allow the BLM to mow them down with guns from helicopters or let them starve to death. Mustangs may be majestic and the spirit of the west, but you have to look at it from a humane point of view. Starve to death/die otherwise by BLM mass herd-culls or go to a home where they will (hopefully) live the rest of their lives happy but contained. Last time I checked, masses of dead horses across the landscape from mass culls certainly isn't beautiful.

      It's a rescue passion. If your goal is to save as many as you can, you simply can't keep them. Yes it's hard to say goodbye, but in saying goodbye you know you'll be able to save many more just as special.

      I'm not Sam but I can explain. Yes it is hard, but it's also exciting and joyus. Every mustang Sam parts with in auction, is a mustang she's saved. Ever mustang she says goodbye to, makes room for another to take its place, meaning she can save so many more. Yes the goodbye is hard, but it's also happy

    Ditto to all other comments. I also would love to have a job like this, but the hardest part would be letting go of such a wonderful horse. Then I thought, what about the horse? Possibly for the first time in its life, it is respected, loved and patiently trained. Not only would "I" love this horse, but it would love me also. and at the end of training, it is sold to another stranger. Taken from the possible only person who it has learned to trust. Never to see ever again. What pain goes through both the trainer, AND the horse. Hopefully the horse will find another loving, caring human being. God bless all these trainers, and all these beautiful animals.

    • @pureangelsweet
      @pureangelsweet 5 лет назад +1

      but hey, maybe the trainer wasn't able to sustain and keep another horse. maybe she just wanted to train one for the time being, and couldn't look after it long-term. think about it like, at least now the horse is so well-trained and used to humans and human contact, as well as sounds and all these other things. maybe she just wanted to train it for another person to enjoy. im sure the next home this mare goes to will keep her.

      REB these are American Mustangs. They are wild. The ones sitting in holding facilities have been culled to reduce the population. They don’t know or care about human love or respect. The project is to encourage people to adopt them and to see what awesome animals they are.

So many people do not have the slightest clue about those details. Now she knows that getting on her back is no issue. Now you can flex her right and left when in the saddle then get off, etc...........

    I would have way to hard of a time giving up an animal that I spent so much time and effort in. I would be way to attatched. Would be bawling my eyes out as I left. But we'll done. Fantastic job. Makes me want horses again.

    Fiesta's personality is like yours. She is intelligent, curious and confident. New things intrigue her more than they spook her. It is lovely to watch the two of you create a partnership based on her trust in you.
