Every time I hear a plot recap of this show, despite the fact that I watched it all when it was airing, I'm dumbstruck by the sheer AMOUNT of predatory age-gap relationships. Like why is basically EVERY adult in Rosewood apparently attracted to minors??? How tf did the writers think that was okay??? 💀

I love how you tried to focus on the real plot and made theories to explain the gaps, instead of focusing on the girls’ relationships (unhealthy most of the times) like the show does a LOT. You made a more practical way to see the story and the A plot. Thank youuuu
Aria as A has always been my favorite idea but I read this fic where WREN was actually A, he was Charles and it was really well thought out!
I saw a theory that I buy into where Wren was supposed to be Big A but the show couldn't get the actor back to film the reveal etc so they changed it to CeCe and thats why there are plot holes in her storyline eg. Jason saw her wearing the Ali's yellow top talking to Melissa the night Ali disappeared, which doesn't line up with the explanation in the A reveal. They then tried to explain away this plot hole by saying Jason was high and hallucinated
@@xwinwinwinxseveral scripts were leaked so the story got changed on the fly. It’s why I really dont like Reddit. The actor who played Wren was also on Once Upon A Time, ABC didn’t have an issue making him available for both shows.
@@halo2d I thought he was done with Once Upon a Time in 2014 and moved to another show, way before season 6a of PLL but I don't know all the details so I could be wrong.

Dont know if you will mention this but I believe the writers deserve more criticism for the Ezra/Aria relationship than they got. I will always side eye them for making this couple endgame especially since in the books they were not endgame and I believe Ezra was arrested.
I’ve read about half of them recently and yes he was!! His character was in and out in like a book or 2. Where I’m at rn she’s with Noel

I don’t think Aria has an personality disorder but I do think something was mentally wrong with her. if we’re talking theories mine is Aria was in a mental hospital during Byron’s “sabbatical”. They never really spoke about Iceland. If she went to a mental hospital in a different state that would make sense as to why her records were at Radley.
Honestly would have liked for the Montgomery’s to mention their life in Iceland a bit more.. There are mostly visual clues like Mike’s big Icelandic flag in his room and family pictures that look like Icelandic scenery that I’m familiar with. Aria not talking about Iceland at ALL (Speaking a bit of icelandic that she learned, friends she made while in school in Iceland, etc.) make the entire situation seem suspicious.
@@TwsBelgi79 the Iceland situation was done well at all. Little details matter. I’m from Maryland and when I was younger we moved to Nevada for a few months. The time difference was rough. It would late in Maryland so my mom would make me go to bed early. In the pilot episode we were told they been back for a few days. Why weren’t they tired since Iceland is 4 hours ahead of Pennsylvania
I remember that I was memorizing lines and clues that could be important (I have a condition called hyperthymesia, so, yeah...), and made a notebook where I was noting all theories (personal and from others) and those lines and clues, to show the notebook to other fans and explaining every week the reasons why, connecting stuff from Ravenswood and Pretty Dirty Secrets to explain -A a little better...
I even had a theory that every single mystery would be answered in that night Alison disappeared, that the final episode would play all the events from that night in chronological order with a huge "that happened 😳😵!!!" vibe...
Then I burned the notebook after I watched the last episode 😑. No one wanted anyway 🤗😅.
Edit: I remember when the "Alison was alive this whole time!!!" episode was released, that when Alison said "remembered what I told you in the hospital" to Hanna, I paused the episode and recited that whole dialogue from the hospital to my friend and to my cousin; that day was wild 😂.

@@haileygrace1924 It's hard to explain the thing per se, so I'll give an example of how my hyperthymesia works 😅🤗.
Mine works via triggers that happen through stuff around me, from smells, sounds, textures and visual clues.
Like, I feel the smell of a perfume now and I'll remember that I felt the same perfume on a black woman in the theater when I watched Disney's Tarzan in the day it was released, in 1999; on a blond woman in a amusement park in november of 2005 before I got into the rollercoaster and on my english teacher from 2008.
Or when I see someone that looks like my ex, then I remember all the best memories I had with her back to back and feeling all the love I felt for her all over again for a few minutes.
Now imagine that, but five, six times per day, every day. That's how my brain works 🤗.
But it has a bad side too: if I have too many memories triggered in a day, I get mentally exhausted 😅. Hahaha'.
I bet Aria was always put in boxes because she was so tiny, easier for the set builders to navigate
I think Mona was on the Halloween train and was the one who felt Hannah up, because she says later after the lodge fire, something like and to think we were this close to our first kiss
After 7 years I’m still traumatised from that awful finale still angry to this day why just why I want Marlene king to explain why she decided to do it ugh they should’ve let wren and Melissa the final -A and erase everything post season 6finale

I never understood why the girls never suspected each other. The girls never seemed close especially in the flashbacks.
It took me several attempts rewatching to make it through this entire show. I stopped watching sometime during season 5 when it was on T.V. and every subsequent rewatch I would only make it that far as well. That is , until this last time. I finally finished it! And it was absolutely ridiculous.
Lmao same! It came out when I was a senior in high school, so I watched the first season and maybe part of season 2 live. But then never went back to it until I heard all the uproar about the finale and watched only the finale and... yikes? But recently I finally watched all of it and God, everything after S2 was so insane lmao.

That is definitely what was stated. I think that the debate about it comes in when trying to figure out what Allison's actual motive was.

Regarding Ian, he did survive the fall at the church. Allison says in the season 4 finale that she saw him walking out of the church. I believe Marlene confirmed in an interview that Ian did commit suicide and the confession note was planted by A.

the vivian darkblook subplot is heavily misconstrued, the motive behind the second identity was to figure out who A was. Which is why she’s only ever Vivian when she went to Brookhaven. idk if it was aria or spencer but one of them say “when Ali put that wig on she meant business” and the context of the convo is she didn’t wear the disguise for leisure & they’re trying to figure out why she made the identity
Honestly, the show would have been a lot better if it had just followed the plot of the books. There would still be plenty of plot twists, suspense, and mystery, and it probably would have been a really good show.
I remember after the series finale there was this hour long special with Marlene King where she was being interviewed, she was going to explain everything, all the clues and tie up any loose ends that the show didn't tie up. She couldn't explain anything, also your show shouldn't need a special to help you tie up plot points and questions.
I still maintain someone else was supposed to be big A (I've seen Wren's name being thrown around that he was supposed to be big A) but people figured it out and Marlene's ego couldn't handle that so she changed it.
Liking so I can watch it after work.
I really wish they would have kept Mona motive being she was in the same room with Jenna and got burned and was targeting the girls because 1) they blind Jenna, 2) they burnt her torso 3) Toby got blamed.
And kept the next A more so like the books.

There is so much nonsense in this show and that always bugged me because I need logic. Even if it is a supernatural show, it needs to have logical storylines and folklore that makes sense in the shows context. But PLL never made sense to me, especially after they introduced supernatural elements but in the next episode actedlikr nothing happened. But what bugged me to most, is the ridiculous timeline 😅 come on, seaosn 3 to season 6 is supposed to be one school year ?????😅
In 26:05 you mentioned how the black swan novel is about a dancer with DID (dissociative identity disorder), that is not what the book is about. The black swan book is about "how unlikely events dramatically change our lives if they do happen, as well as what you can do to become better at expecting the unexpected". It's basically a philosophy book. I think what you meant was the movie "Black Swan" which is different than the play "Swan Lake" lol. And in the movie the main character doesn't have DID. She develops schizophrenia and it is also said she has OCD because of her fixation on achieving perfection. You also said that the DID tracks with Aria's personality. She never showed any signs of it, or at least I didn't noticed. Because of her outbursts of anger, maybe she has bipolar??? Idk. She seems to have anxiety and ptsd, but pretty much the whole group has that.
I don’t think it was Anxiety. Everything about Aria is never straight forward it’s all theories and you just have to pay attention. They never explained why Aria had a file at Radley and they never spoke about Iceland that’s odd

I challenge you to rewrite the show! Networks are eating reboots up these days girl, you should legit try to pitch it and see what happens honestly.
The idea for who the final ‘A’ should have been, is BRILLIANT.
I’ll be the first to admit that for ME, despite her great acting, I never really liked Aria very much.
But I think I would have LOVED her if she and Ezra had been A together and were master manipulating the entire thing!
And Lucy Hale would have ATE that! I just KNOW she would have had SO much fun doing it and it would've been phenomenal!
Side note: Either Ali should have stayed dead, or been a mystery (like is she dead? Or not? Aka her body was never found, but she was never seen again yet her presence is always felt), or she still returned but her “redemption arc” was her still being sort of mean and manipulative but RETAINING her skills and intelligence!
Imagine HER and Aria facing off, followed by individual one-on-one face offs with the rest of the girls (somehow, maybe they’re all kidnapped and locked up and one after another manages to escape).
We could see how EACH girl would deal with this incredible betrayal by the friend they thought they knew and be backed by the one they thought was worse (Ali). Mona too. Ali, Mona, and Spencer as the smartest ones but ALL the girls being badass and figuring things out, and developed equally well (poor Emily. I loved her in spite of it all).
Also Maya never dies, she returns and ends up with Emily, bringing their love full circle, while Alison stays happy to be the femme fatale (ish) girl she was always meant to be, not a housewife.
Yes, this is what we deserved! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I want to start by saying that I have only seen the pilot because it grossed me out so I dipped, but I have seen all of your videos (and of other creators), so I think I have a good grasp of the show, generally.
I love your videos because they feel like a friend telling a story, I love your asides and wish they'd descend fully into unhinged rants, I'm sure you have them in you lol.
My one criticism - Serena, gurl, you *need* a fugly Vivian Darkbloom, evil twin wig for any future PLL videos, you just need one. For the lolz. In the spirit of the insane nature of the show, you should embrace the idiocy and go for it.
What about this for an batshit A reveal - it's *all* of the trashiest trash men in Rosewood. Throw in Ezra, throw in Byron, throw in all of crappy (male) love interests; the boys had the gross ass high school creep club, so upon discovering about A they figured, hey why not, they could control the girls for their own particular reasons from the shadows, and indulge in their darker impulses (stalking, gaslighting, kidnapping, torturing, killing, whatever). Seems like women were always A, to the plot's detriment. It would force Marlene to commit to making the men accountable and out in the open acknowledged as the fucking worst though, so there is that.
Alternatively, Ezra, Aria and Allison as A - his two muses. And of course they would eventually turn on him because, he deserves nothing less.
Pretty little liars is my comfort show and I can’t even tell you how many times that I’ve watched it but I still cannot understand or wrap my brain around the last season. I just cannot for the life of me understand would actually even happened lol. 😂😂😂

Me and my wife watched the show (pre/during pandemic), and I was so upset by the ending, and I needed someone to talk about it... my wife didn't really seem to care.
So, I looked up PLL stuff on YT, and that's when I found the 1st. Video (it hadn't been uploaded very long), with promises for more...
3 years later, I am still not happy with the ending, and I listen to Skyborne whenever she talks about PLL lol.

I think what I like about PLL is the vibes. It was addictive and pretty. Not to mention the effects they used for the past made it seem almost....ethereal. I also like the mind games and dangers they faced because of A.
Alison was a very interesting character early on. I also liked how the night she disappeared she helped Spencer and it showed that she had a softer side to her.
I would've loved for The Liars to have been morally grey, it would've been interesting to see how things would've changed (how they handled A, any plans they would've had, their secrets, etc.) I would've loved to see the girls doing their own mind games and kidnapping and threatening people while trying to find out who A was and keeping their secrets a secret, etc.
I also think the predator relationships should've been treated as actual predators and that the girls dealt with them. Some legally others illegally which would've been more ammunition for A.
Honestly, this show should've been more mature. Also if they all had dark sides it would make sense why they were drawn to one another because of this and because they were useful to each other but also to to some degree genuinely loved one another (and they become closer because of A.) I would've also liked the girls to not just have been bystanders and chose to commit their own dubious actions instead of it all being Allison.
I liked that none of the Liars were A (that it was a monster of their own making,) and I also liked the scene when they were stuck in the car and the dollhouse episodes.
I didn't like that there was multiple A's. I would've preferred if it was just Mona and her accomplices and that the show didn't have as many seasons. I feel like it should've had five seasons (13 or 15 episodes each.)
I also wished Allison's character hadn't changed so much. I did like that she became a better person, but she was SO different.
I wish they showed the intelligence, they kept saying Spencer had instead of it being so up and down (I think they didn't properly know how to protray high levels of iq. I know it's hard trying to wrap your mind around a gifted mind enough to protray it without being exposed to geniuses or being one yourself.) I also wished that the weird relationship Spencer had with her sister was expanded on or maybe made more clear/explicit (maybe they were both jealous of each other and often double crossed, one-up each other, etc,) and maybe her parents weren't emotionally available and pushed academic excellence on both of them, causing Spencer to gain a drug addiction and something for Melissa (maybe she seeked validation from men or maybe she used them as a distraction? Either or.)
I also wished Emily had better subplots and that she and Allison didn't ended up together (honestly all of Emily's love intrests were weird.)
I also wished they were drawn to their love intrest for a reason. Maybe they brought out their good sides, were grounding, calming etc and I did like how involved they were, but they could've been more useful.
I also liked how everyone had secrets but I wish it was all tied together clearly and connected to A, Allison's disappearance, and the girl's secrets. Even the dirty cop guy. Maybe he was already on A's team but took Hannah's shoplifting to lord his power over Hannah and her mom or something and maybe he could've be one of the first the Liars get rid of.
I like the idea of even the "good character," doing bad things to survive and they gradually become better (not completely good but better,) people but maybe they were already on their journey because of Allison's disappearanc.
Speaking of her disappearance, I wished the year and months she was gone were explained.
Also the episode when they meet should've just been a continuous flip flop from the night she disappeared and her time away and her telling the story to the girls. Specifically after something triggering or important is shown. Also with the scar on Allison's leg. Was she SA'd or was the guy cutting her up? Either way it could've showed a bit of that then flashed to Allison and the girls crying and holding one another
AND FOR GOD'S SAKE IF THEY WANTED TO ADD THE SUPERNATURAL INTO THE MIX THEY SHOULD'VE DONE THAT SOONER AND MORE CLEARLY!!! but I personally don't think it was needed.

i was so deep in the trenches of pll that my freshmen year we wrote letters to our senior selves as a class assignment, and mine was just a page of A theories. and we had to write letters to our future selves in my senior year and it was just about the perfectionists.
well, i have never seen this show but I needed some background noise while working. Finished the whole video in one sitting. I didn't know anything going in and I think I understand even less now. Someone died maybe? Things happened, they're in a place, someone kissed, cliff hanger, time travel, dumb ending? I have no idea what just happened.

@@SerenaSkybourne Check out Buffy if you want a show with great writing and characters, the first season is a little rough cuz it's so low budget. I actually recommend people start the show at season 2 and come back to the first season later but whichever way you watch, about half way into season three and you'll be like "this is one of my favorite shows ever." All good fun, very silly fashion and silly special effects, then out of no where some of the best episodes of television in tv history.
I love how its possible to see the life getting out of you as you dive deeper in this insanity

I remember seeing old Aria is A theories about her relation to Bethany Young and how that could have been how Eddie Lambert recognised her as Aria could have been family, either a cousin or sister (because there were references to a mentally unstable uncle). If the story line between Alison, Bethany and Sara had been more serial killer recreating crimes it would make total sense for Aria to be A and Vivian Darkbloom, because if Alison looks like Bethany and Bethany looks like Aria, she could have been using that as her A disguise.
This was my favourite show for study breaks back in the day. I rewatched it so many times, it was my comfort show😊

In my opinion…I wouldn’t say unserious but unrealistic. The first two seasons were great. It was relatable but after that it just went down hill. Still love watching it though. Love you Serena!

Unpopular opinion- the worst part of the show was the main 4 liars. It revoled way too much around them when they had nothing to do with most stuff. Like up to season 2 everything is fine ,the motive is logical with Mona being bullied and her only friend being taken away by the other 3 ,AND AFTERWARDS ITS A SHITSHOW! The fact that half of the side characters(like Mona) were wayyyyy more interesting than the liars themselves tells a lot imo. They should have stuck to one plot and make either Melissa or Aria A,not random twin from London ... and the doll house being 2 episodes was CRIMINAL. It deserved half a season! The show for me has too much wasted potential in favor of giving the viewers what they want- their boring cringe love interests( aria and ezra is even criminal) ,which took too much screentime,too much unneccesary drama and that was ultimately their downfall
