it's so funny because the showrunners want us to think that aria is suffering the same as the other girls, so you have conversations like "bestie i was run over by a car", and aria will reply "bestie i get you, ezra didn't answer my phone call"
@cece-gc6glt absolutely is. I think it's just that 1. Aria hasn't yet realized her relationship with Ezra is toxic, which means more often than not she just comes off as tone deaf when compared to everybody else, and 2. This whole trauma is mostly caused by Ezra, and, sometimes, herself. Yes, there is some real bad trauma caused by A, but it isn't as bad or happens as often as it does with the other girls. My point is, everybody suffered, because of A or outside circumstances - but the way the show frames Aria’s trauma with Ezra as not a big deal and focuses so much on A-related stuff just makes it really clear that Aria is just not on the same level as everybody else. Even with things like her killing Shauna... That was a terrible thing that she was forced to do and it surely is traumatic, but it wasn't caused by A either.
@cece-gc6gl It is traumatic. But it makes all the times that A was threatening to out Ezra as a predator look more like helpful actions...? Like for the other Liars it's the danger of their family getting hurt, but for Aria, objectively, it's removing her predatory boyfriend from her life...
@cece-gc6glOh it is, we as the views just don't know that as the full scenario for much of the show. Also that's a about it as far as bad stuff. (Still terrible) but she doesn't get as much psychological torture or physical torture.
Okay but we can agree aria is def suffering in the end because she finds out the man who’s been grooming her also dated her friend at like 14 and knew she was 15 the whole time and was using her to write his book and some weird shit Like yes the other girls went through more terrifying shit throughout but arias was still traumatizing
Emily probably had the worst thing done to her by A with the pregnancy, but I think overall in life, Spencer had it worst. Theres so much that happens to Spencer that isnt even the result of A and by the end of the show, her entire life was a lie lmao.
Lmaoo no way, Emily literally had her gf die, her dad die, was outed, AND she had to date Paige McCullers, that alone is enough to give her the top spot.
Personally I think impact wise, Spencer definitely had it the worse. Her entire life was turned upside down and inside out at the end. But emotionally, Hannah got the worse of everything. It’s like she was always being targeted by ‘A’ and used as a means to get at her friends. It was awful. Of course, physically Emily got it the worse with the pregnancy thing and a literal car being driven into her house. As I was writing this I realized that all of ‘A’s attacks on the girls go against their character tropes? Spencer is logical and ‘A’ did everything to make sure that nothing made sense to her in the end. Hannah is emotional - a feeler - and ‘A’ used her as a pawn to destroy her relationships and make her completely numb to a lot of things. Emily is athletic and ‘A’ took away her physical ability to do a lot of things. Invaded her body. Alison was dominant. A queen bee and ‘A’ made her completely powerless. I can’t really think of anything for Aria though. Maybe that’s because she was initially meant to be ‘A’, but that was taken back and rewritten when people guessed it too easily? Edit; Revisiting a year later and I think Aria - in comparison to how her peers were treated by those around her - was the most mature. Meaning, she kind of had to grow up the fastest with her father’s infidelity and him making her keep that secret. I mean, even in the first episode we see her straddled with the responsibility of having to drive her brother whenever he needed to be. Yes, Spencer was smarter, but she was still her parents’ youngest child and they treated her as such. Hannah’s dad left and although Hannah was more than willing to step up and help out her Mom, her mother never allowed it and always vied for Hannah to enjoy her teen years with her friends. They tried to make Alison out to be this hyper mature person, but in reality a lot of what Alison had been doing was teenager stuff, just with the added bonus of blackmail. Aria was treated like a third parent/adult by her parents and brother. I think her relationship was Ezra was used to put into perspective just how immature she really was and not even necessarily to us, but to her family and the other adults surrounding her. I think ‘A’ used Aria’s inappropriate relationship with her teacher as a means of knocking her down a few pegs especially since whenever they found out about it, suddenly Aria was “growing up too fast” and needed to “slow down and act her age”.
Mentally it’s worse for Emily (but it is pretty dam close), physically it’s Alison - but realistically it’s just fucked up for the both of them and it’s the worst thing A did by far
I do think Hanna had it worst, she was run over, had a thing implanted into her tooth, direct triggers to her ED, her best friend was A, got heavy trauma, her relationship with Caleb only started because Jenna was paying him etc etc etc
I agree but I also see a tie with Emily lol … Emily was outed, forced to kill someone, first gf killed, forced to have kids, almost drowned in a pool (wasn’t A but … 😂)
Emily def had it the worst. The girls all went through it for sure but the time jump kinda proved how much A actually messed up the trajectory of Emily’s life. She probably would’ve been in college on a full ride for swimming if it wasn’t for her messing up her shoulder when A tried to attack the girls 🙃 All the other girls were still on track for the most part regarding their dreams.
I always thought Spencer had it the worst in general, but a lot of her struggles didn’t come from A, just her family and life in general. The worst actually from A has got to be Emily in my opinion- with Hanna a close second though.
When I saw the video title I was like, Not Aria. For years I thought she was A, the way she had no repercussions for a ton of her secrets and almost benefited from A and she even says it in one of the episodes. Missed opportunity to have Aria be Big A
You could argue any of them (Besides Aria tbh) of who went through the most traumatic events but Emily's overall life was ruined the most. A destroyed her future in Swimming/College scholarships and then proceeded to force her to have kids to raise by herself. (If we take the Perfectionists as canon) All the other girls got to have their dream careers and have an Endgame partner. Even if the relationships were terrible. Emily ultimately got non of that and her Dad died just to add to it.
And her girlfriend died too and she was framed for destroying that mural and Paige tried to drown her and the school was like haha that’s cute and didn’t do anything really serious about it
I watched an interview with the actress who played Cece. She said that Aria got hurt the most. Wtf? Has she even watched the show she's in? That's why I always thought that Aria was A. A rather helped her than tried to kill her. By the way, Melissa and Wilden placed her in the coffin. So she practically did not suffer from the hands of A. She calmly continued to date Ezra while the other girls were almost sawn in two. Hanna and Alison were in jail for a murder they didn't commit. And the worst thing A did for Aria was cut off her hair lol.
exactly, Aria objectively went through the least, the showrunners intended her to be A in the beginning (until everyone started guessing it was her) so we know for sure it was intentional
This video made me realise how little impact the things A did to Aria actually had on her compared to the other girls - like somehow she always just seemed to get off so easy and now makes me think how I never even suspected Aria as A.
I agree, I think Emily had it the worse then next would be Hanna but her being forced to have kids she wasn’t ready for was wild along with all the ways she was attacked
Just seeing the title I immediately said, “Oh Aria, for sure.” And then I laughed because it was impossible to say that with a straight face. My serious answer goes back and forth between Emily and Spencer. I feel like Emily had some of the worst things done to her, but Spencer had the most amount of bad things done to her. Quality vs Quantity of suffering, if you will.
@@YanAsims True. I guess I was just thinking strictly about who had it the worst from A(s). But I guess all the A’s took one look at Ezra and realized she was already being tortured.
exactly. not only did spencer suffer emotional trauma, she suffered physcological trauma as well. girls whole life was a lie. also dont forget in season 7 when she got shot by A.D. She almost died.
Hannah got psychologically tortured Emily got physically tortured Spencer mainly had her own shit going on Aria Alison was basically alone for years in hiding
ARIA LMFAO 😭😭😭 no literally. All her problems would have been solved if she just didn’t date Ezra. That’s like the only thing A had on her. I think Hannah had it the worst of of all. She was tortured mentally emotionally and physically by A. Her best friend was A, she was constantly targeted for being “fat” and her ED, was pushed to the side while her dad chose her step sister (literally makes me so upset for her. I couldn’t imagine that kind of pain), A framing her mom, getting kidnapped and tortured in Noel’s cabin (I think?? Maybe it was the lost woods resort?), had a piece of paper implanted in her tooth? Insane????, her bf only started dating her because of Jenna, got arrested for trying ti protect her mom by hiding the gun, etc. She had it the worst by FAR.
@@Blowme_ aria was groomed so you can blame her for dating Ezra, let's not victim blame but I agree she was the one who had it the best compared to all the other girls
I think that Spencer had it the worst in general, not only becuase at the end it turned out her whole life is a lie, but also because the ammount of labor she was putting in. I was always under the impression that other liars expected her to do so much and she was making the most sacrifices to figure out who A is. I think that her "smart" and "hardworking" label was something that was used against her in a way, because it was anticipated of her to take on so much work of finding out what is going on. I was also sooooo annoyed when Spencer was having a full on mental break down and one of liars named her "the weakest link". Like bffr, she was carying all of you on her shoulders ALL THE TIME and other liars usually were activated when something bad happened. SO yeah for me it was always spencer in the first place and emily right behind lol
IKRRR, the rest of the group constantly nag at her like wtf? It's not Spencer's fault that her family is rich or that she's working hard and is trying to excel at studies, sports, and extracurriculars for a better future. Emily always knew that her family could not afford college w/o the scholarship and swimming yet she didn't start working towards this earlier???? No backup plans to Swimming and starting working in the last few months of high school to earn for college? Spencer was dealing with her family, education, and the A mystery since season 1.
When you mentioned how Emily’s ending went the way it did, that really cemented it for me that she did have it the worst from A. Emilys ending to me is the most realistic for life. I mean in general how successful is someone who is only 22/23? And went through all that trauma. I am 25 and really sympathized with Emily in the last season, especially seeing her friends so well adjusted.
After listening to all the points for Emily, in terms of being tortured by A, I definitely agree on her having it the worst (Hanna being a close second), but who was put through the most as a whole throughout the whole show was Spencer. She basically found out her whole life was one big lie and then some, then didn't even get a proper happy ending like the rest of the girls.
I think your points about Emily's life being so different to what she may have wanted had she had choice over her life are so valid, especially since I heard that in the Pretty Little Liars spin-off, the Perfectionists, Emily and Allison have split up
Tie between Emily and Hanna for me. While Emily’s life was at risk the most, the attacks on Hanna were way more personal and sadistic, so they’re equal to and sometimes worse than the attacks on Emily in my view. As for the pregnancy, because Emily consented to signing her eggs away, I don’t view it as serious as A’s other offenses and imo it really happened to Allison, who had the option to abort. I also don’t consider the outcomes of their lives as proof of who had it worse because only death was going to keep Spencer from a good life, but that girl still went through hell
I didn't watch PLL when it was airing but watching as an adult, Emily's story was horrifying. The planting the eggs in a friend's body thing is stuff of nightmares
7:03 Sometimes I think about how the Perfectionists made it out to be a lighthearted memory ("remember when A made Hanna eat all those cupcakes?"), and just...ugh
Everytime this conversation is started I think about how in the episodes after the dollhouse where the girls' trauma is explored, Spencer is shown to literally have woken up covered in fake blood and automatically is made to believe she killed someone... meanwhile Aria gets a haircut😭 Don't get me wrong both are traumatising but theyre just not on the same level. This was a really comprehensive breakdown btw! I actually agree. I usually would say Spencer had it the worst in general, but Hanna had it the worst at the hands of -A. I always thought Hanna's kidnapping by A.D was the turning point. All the girls had been kidnapped in the dollhouse but Hanna went through that plus all the other trauma she has as a result of -A PLUS the dollhouse.
I think Spencer really had it the worst. Especially in the last two seasons, finding out that Veronica isnt her mother and that she has a twin she never knew about and finding out her father is a cheating slag, thats so incredibly wild to me. But also thinking she murdered someone in the dollhouse bc of the whole day ali disappeared thing, and on top of dealing with a drug addiction, being admitted into Radley for half a season. It truly made me feel like she had it the worst plotlines. She also had her relationships ruined by Alex when she went around masquerading as her. And being kidnapped in the last season???? I reckon she definitely has it the worst.
i feel like spencer she was so emotionally abused by A to the point she ended up in a mental institution, watching her go through her addiction and thinking toby is dead was so hard to watch. she then gets a few years off and when she gets back she finds out her whole family is a lie and her secret sister is out to kill her??? how she managed to hold on as long as she did is crazy i would’ve broke by season 2. also the fact two older men who were dating her sister prayed on her and every time her sister blamed her for it
Yea personally I think Alison got it the worst, somebody tried to kill her at Noel Kahn’s party, she was knocked upside the head with a rock and buried by her mom while she couldn’t move or say anything, forced to be on the run, almost gets strangled to death in her home, watches her mom get buried, gets set up for a murder she didn’t commit, everyone turns against her (which was Mona post A but it was something A wanted), finds out big A is the woman she idolized and helped so much (Cece), is forcibly institutionalized and impregnated against her will She is my favorite member of the group
Aria was completely failed by every single adult around her and her story ends very tragically. She ends up with her groomer/emotional abuser/ stalker that she’s been bonded to since she was a child. Not only did her parents condone a predatory relationship but they basically abandoned her and Mike half way through the show?..! Even if Ezra wasn’t connected to the A stuff, this relationship would mess Aria up long term. She never stood a chance to develop normally.
agreed. i think that at the end of the day ending up w ezra was truly a trauma within itself a letting it keep happening when they probably knew he was writing his book too
She had to 'growup' so young looking after her parents and her between her predator teacher I even realised how much ezra aged aria it was child acting like an adult
Completely agree. If there was no A in this story, it would have been a tragedy about grooming and child abuse (for Spencer and Alison too). But because A was the main antagonist, Aria got off easy.
@@Jomirecc yeah and eventually she became the one who had to look out for her brother whilst her parents worried about their own problems as well as looking out for herself also. And even though she didn't have it the worst from A. She definitely did have it bad just in general, as well as Spencer who also had it really bad with A but also with just her parents who would completely ice her out and always prioritise Mellisa over her and her mental health problems.
I was groomed by my soccer coach from ages 12-18 then had a secret, sexual relationship for years after that. I can second that, her relationship with Ezra fucked her up big time. Their relationship infuriates me.
Emily hands down had it the worst. A- had a whole vehicle ram through her house, almost hitting her and her mom. A- had her injected with steroids, after the shoulder injury, and ruined her swim career. A- harrassed/blackmailed Em numerous times about her feelings for Maya and Allison- sending messages to her very unaccepting mother. Sis didn't have it easy, AT ALL. And I forgot about the pregnancy thing because of trying to remember all of her trauma. Em needs a lifetime vacation away from Rosewood.
Honestly you made some really good arguments for it being Emily. I always thought it had to be Spencer, because of how traumatized she was over Toby and the whole spiral she went down with addiction and her hospitalization. But I didn't realize how what Emily went through changed her life forever. I would argue, though, that Hanna might surpass her. They both were almost killed tons of times, but the torture Hanna endured when she was kidnapped was next level. The way Emily was outed was awful, but Hanna being forced to relapse with her ED was demented. She was also sexually harassed and had her friendships messed with more than anyone else because of A. Mona being the first A also added another layer to the trauma she endured. Going through all of that was traumatizing enough, but knowing that it was at the hands of your best friend?? I'd never trust anyone again.
I think Emily had some of the most traumatic things happen to her and life changing things. However, I think Hanna was the most targetted by A. Being set up for murder of her best friend, getting literally put in jail, and being abducted? A was up late at night planning to f*** her up😂
not trying to sound like i hated emily or anything, but the first season convinced me that her character was going to die at some point. I just figured she was written into the story to be killed off and further terrify the rest of the girls.
@@alexjames7144 those two things make sense for Mona's A at least. Mona was bullied by Ali, and Emily was Ali's favorite, so killing Ali's favorite would have been good revenge for the bullying. As for Hanna, Hanna was Mona's best friend and I think Mona felt like Hanna had betrayed her and their friendship, so she wanted to punish Hanna for that, but she also still wanted a relationship.
When we put the facts out like that I agree that it must have been Emily or Hanna, but one thing we have to keep in mind is that Spencer was going through a lot of mental issues so maybe the things that happened to her had a bigger height or traumatized her on bigger levels, because when a lot of the facts that affected Hanna and Emily were for sure traumatizing, there were also temporary, while the hole plot line about Spencers mental illness will probably impact her for the rest of her life!
Also Spencer felt it on all ends her mom and dad's entanglements, her sister, her boyfriends, school. She was always in the mist and felt the cold eve when it wasn't directed t her
i think hanna had it the worst. Emily was joint second with spencer , for spencer it was more non- A related whereas for emily it was more A related, then aria is last
I have a theory that when Mona said the liars took Hanna from her, that her and Hanna were best friends before she became part of the liars group. I think when Alison stole Hanna away from Mona, that was the spark that started her down the 'A' path. I think the show did Mona dirty too because after she got help, she saved the liars asses so many times, yet they never gave her the time of day after. All she wanted was to become their friends, but they all shot her down over and over.
Bro what? She didn’t save them “so many” times. Also why would they be friends with her. Mona literally almost killed Hana and Emily, almost pushed Spencer off a cliff, gave Emily an ulcer, almost killed toby, framed Alison etc. Did you even watch the show?
@@jasonmoukala8909 under any other circumstances i would agree, but considering all the other characters that get passes for the equally-fucked things they do, it really does feel like mona got done dirty... especially when u take into consideration the fact that a lot of her actions are heavily-informed by the torment alison (and the liars, by proxy) put her through, and the fact that she spends 90% of her time - post radley - being helpful. i also think that smn not many people talk ab is that (prior to the "mona is A" reveal) the liars are just like... needlessly mean to her a lot of the time? watching seasons 1 and 2 back w the knowledge that mona was A *does* make it hard to sympathise w her after-the-fact, and she *was* quite snide a decent amount of the time, but all the liars knew during season 1 and 2 was that they aided in alison's immense bullying and ostracization of mona, that she could be annoying and an asshole (but nowhere near the level of alison, and she was still nice to them a lot of the time), that she cared ab hanna and that she was obviously-desperate to be included in the group and all they did w that information was purposefully (and cattily) ice her out in the most uncomfortable ways possible. likewise, idk what show u were watching, but post season 3 mona was doing *bits* for the liars. in seasons 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 mona was essentially an honorary liar (in that theyd come to her for help, she would absolutely fucking carry, they would refuse to show her any thanks and then ice her out again before going back to sucking alison's ass). if this was real life and i were in their position, i definitely wouldnt forgive mona... however i also wouldnt lead her on and use her the way they did w the knowledge that i contributed a decent-portion to her fractured psyche... and then go on to forgive people like: jason (the show did a lot portraying him as an innocent victim, but he's got a circus troupe of skeletons in his closet), ezra, alison, byron, caleb and toby (i really liked the two of them as love interests, but - honestly - there's no way in hell id remain romantically-involved after those levels of betrayal), aria, lucas, etc etc. point is, the whole point of pll (or, the books, at least) is that all the characters are morally grey w equally-suspicious pasts, and that alison and her leagues of crimes against humanity has inadvertently turned a once-happy and welcoming community into a lions den wherein everybody seems to have gotten their hands dirty (in some capacity) and has smn to hide. i dont think anyone would have a problem w mona's character not receiving a redemption of some sorts if 1. the writers kept that same energy for other characters, and the writing wasnt filled w such glaring-inequities in favour of certain bad people over others and 2. they didnt spend so much time SETTING UP A REDEMPTION ARC. imo, the biggest issue w mona's storyline is (simply) that they set up a very clear-path for her character, never saw it to the end, and just occasionally brought her character in as a catch-all to tie up loose plot threads or drive up hype
@@zaddyfaye6880 I’m sorry no. Mona was never ever one of the liars. She spend 90 percent of the time post radley being helpful? You mean when she convinced the girls that Alison was A and sent her to jail for her murder and nearly getting her life in prison? You mean in season 2 when she was still tormenting them as A? You mean in season 4 when she used Mike in the beginning to get information on Aria? You mean in season 7 when she let Alison take the fall for charlottes murder when she’s the one who did it? You mean when she handed Spencer over to AD? Is that what you mean by helpful? Mona was nowhere near the level of Alison? Bro there’s nothing that Alison did that even compares to what Mona did. Also Mona made her own choices, Alison didn’t force her to do anything. Being called “loser Mona” doesn’t make someone do all those psychotic things. Nothing says “I care about Hana” like running her over with a car and almost killing her.🤣🤣🤣
Aria really had it the easiest. They should've set it up for her to be A, I thought it was her based on that logic alone. Nothing bad really happened to her. Hannah and Emily really went through it. They were tied for me. Spencer had less bad but the things that did were worse as far as weight.
@Dolphinboi true true. Grooming isn't "an easy thing" by any means. But I'm coming at it from their perspective as teenage girls. And mine at the time I watched it. Trying to hide your pedo teacher is nothing compared to what the others went through.
Yeah Aria being groomed is horrible and shouldn't have happened. But A didn't make creepy felon menace, Eriza Fitz, do anything. That felon stalked those girl on his own accord for his book.
hannah is such an interesting unique situation because she’s the only one who got repeatedly physically tortured. emily + spencer both had a few bad scrapes but what they went through was almost completely psychological (will never be over A making spencer think she straight up murdered somebody MULTIPLE TIMES….). they’re all carrying mental scars from this experience but hannah has physical ones she’s got to keep for her whole life now as well. granted I don’t have any real opinion on who had it Worst other than “definitely not aria” (making her grapple with being the only murderer could’ve been interesting, but every liar except spencer has killed someone so that’s kind of out the window), but I think people tend to forget just how badly hannah got beat up when most of A’s m.o. is psychological warfare
Aria did have it the easiest but that shouldn’t be a reason to hate on her. She was groomed, was tortured by A, the dollhouse, locked in with bodies, family problems, killing people, board games betrayal, lying and other intensive stuff isn’t normal stuff. People please don’t hate on one because the other 3 liars had it harder. Comparing trauma isn’t fair. While others had it worse, she also did go through stuff and victim blaming her is messed up because she didn’t get tortured as much. But great video ❤
You kinda forgot the fact that all the liars (outside of Hannah) were also arrested as accesories in the season 5 penultimate episode which is the reason why they can be kidnapped and brought to the dollhouse in the first place.
I feel like I forget the traumatic things Emily went through because she irritated me so much. She was allowed to spiral and hold her grudges while snapping at her friends whenever they even attempted to hold onto their pain and anger for more than a day. But she did go through a looot.
I agree Emily had the worst and I’ve watched Pretty Little Liars a thousand times on repeat and I’ve always said she had it the worst then Spencer then Hanna
Worst is probably between Hanna and Emily… I want to say Emily tho. I mean the death of her first love, being homeless cause A ghost drove a car thru he house, almost being sawed in half… like damn she went thru it
I think with aria its judt because shes sort of the main character where the audience sees things more from her perspective so we see more of her pain then the others sometimes
For me it has always been neck and neck between Hanna and Spencer but I usually end up landing on Hanna. - Alison literally taught and helped Hanna into developing an ED which Ali would then use to make Hanna feel even worse. - A also used her ED as a tactic to get at her. - Hannah and her mum almost lost their house. - She had a corrupt cop practically living in her home temporarily. - Caleb first started dating her because he was spying for Jenna. - Mona who was her best friend was A. - Said best friend ran her over with a car. - She had to watch her mum go to prison. - She had something implanted in her tooth. - She (and all the girls) got tracking devices implanted in them. - She had to deal with a crappy dad. - She had to deal with an evil step sister. - She (and the girls) had to survive the doll house. - She got kidnapped AGAIN and abused with a cattle rod repeatedly after being hosed with water. - Hanna had to watch Caleb and Spencer get together... her ex who she still had feelings for and one of her best friends. - Also Aria was so mean to Hanna throughout the series and it made me so mad, Hanna was constantly having to try make up for things that I personally don't think she had to. There's bound to be more that I'm missing but I truly think Hanna's time in the show was brutal.
Omg yes!!! You pointed out things I completely forgot about like Wilden the creep and how aria was always so mean to her. I will never understand why she immediately blamed Hannah when Zach hit on her. She’s so shady for that. She out of all people should understand a predatory relationship 😭 nvm she wouldn’t because she marries her fuuuuucking teacher at the end. I really wish they moved away from that trope to teach the KIDS THEY AIMED THE SHOW AT that kids should not date adults. It’s sick that they’d rather choose to make the viewers happy instead of teaching a lesson about creepy guys.
tbf aria did get groomed throughout the ENTIRE series. she meets the groomer in episode 1 and ends up marrying said groomer in the finale. although that doesn't really have anything to do with A but i'd still say it's pretty tough lol
I think you’re right in terms of A-related things, but I think in general spencer had it the worst by far. Groomed by older men (ian, wren) and then blamed for it by her family, her sister treating her horribly, her parents lying to her her whole life about who she was, her amphetamine addiction, being hospitalised (whereas if she’d known about her real mother’s mental health history, she would be able to attribute it to genetics and find a way to treat herself, an evil twin sister who pretended to be her on multiple occasions, kissed her ex boyfriend, and tormented her and her friends. there’s soooo much more but i think she definitely had it the worst and i think the writers tried to make her the unofficial main character throughout some parts of the show. loved this video btw !!
i think secondly hannah and emily are sort of a tie, hannah was bullied into an ed by her ‘best friend’ and then when she befriended mona, she had to find out her new best friend had been the one tormenting her and her friends. emily would be very low on my list if it wasn’t for the whole baby thing, but i feel like two human lives brought into the world kinda takes the cake, aria was treated so easily and i definitely think she should’ve been one of the A’s, especially since the show begins with her coming back home from iceland and the texts from A beginning immediately (and they’d happened to allison pre-aria leaving). if aria hadn’t dated ezra (she was groomed so not her fault) A never really would’ve had much on her besides the meredith storyline
Pretty little liars is one of my favorite shows of all time I constantly play it on repeat I'm new to your channel glad I found this video and your channel ill definitely be binging your videos
Loved this video❤. I agree with most of your opinions and points throughout this video however I do think that out of all the Liars, Hanna ultimately suffered the most and was put through the most shit because of A. I mean...being framed for murder of Mona (who used to be her best friend), being put in jail, being knocked out, abducted and tortured, the triggering of her ED and being admitted to the hospital for being run over by a car??? Come on man, Hanna was really put through it, not to even mention the trauma she was put through throughout the show and all the stuff with Caleb and her mom as well.
I mean Emily had lost Maya, and was almost killed by mayas killer. Her dad died later in the series, he’s the only father I loved btw. spencer thought Toby died and she went crazy bc of Mona being -A and got admitted at radley sanitarium , she was speeding by taking meds to stay awake and trying to prove Ezra is -A. she was shot by Jenna, she eventually found out Mary was her real birth mother. Hanna was suffering from body image, which made me cry btw because it’s hard being overweight, she got ran over by mona, her mom went to jail after being accused of killing wilden, so she planned to take the blame for her mom, but later Mona said she did it, she was kidnapped by -AD and almost died. Aria got trapped in a box with a body during a Halloween party on a train and was almost thrown off the train and almost died , she found out about Ezra writing books about her and her friends, later in the series he almost went to jail for it bc -AD found out about it. Aria couldn’t have kids. Wow it’s hard to determine who had the worst
I think Hanna had it the worst. A tried to get her and her mom arrested and framed for murder every chance they got. They destroyed what little relationship she had left with her father. They went after her boyfriends family, and also made her feel like she needed to break up and protect Caleb. They messed with her eating disorder. Also, lets not forget being hit by a car and kidnapped and tortured with a cattle prod that left her scarred for life. The fact that Lauren started half of these with "Hanna, bless her heart. She had a hard season" for like half of the seasons 😭😭. Plus, her and Emily ended up tied based off her rating scale.
I think the worst things that happened to Aria was when she got trapped in a box with Garett’s dead body, the dollhouse kidnapping, and getting framed with Mona’s murder. Other than that the girls had it way harder than her.
I still think Spencer, I dont think its talk enough about how much Alex being her identical twin would mess with her perception of herself. Also how much it would mess with her relationship with Toby.
im gonna go ahead and say Alison isn’t included in this video. But in my opinion, she had it the worst. Her cousin accidentally knocked her over the head, her mom buried her alive, she was forced out of town for months, her bestfriend betrayed her and died the same day, she was attacked in her house, her mother was killed by her aunt. she was framed for murder and in jail for months, her cousin was A, she married a con artist who tried to kill her, she was basically raped by artificial insemination, her dad vanished, and her other cousin was A.
not to mention all the grown men who would abuse her and melissa going after her all the time cause her man liked alison. AND her own brother being creepy. i think so too. alison DID have it the worst.
I think Hanna had it worst by A , Em is a close second though but Spencer had it worst overall in her life . Ali also of course. Aria definitely wasn't in the same level as the rest of the liars
I feel like if we're talking about who had it the worst from A it would definitely be Hannah like my girl really goes through it but if we're talking who generally had it the worst throughout the whole show, it would be Spencer because between addiction and her whole family situation, she has a lot happen to her that isn't even a result of A. Like most of the shit Spencer goes through wasn't mentioned in this video because most of it comes from her dad being a dick rather than from A
Aria definitely had it the easiest! In the end she gets her happy ending with Ezra. Adopting Imogen’s baby from PLL Original Sin. She gets to move on with her life. I feel like the other girls really ever be able to. They also are never talked about in the new show too.
I wouldn't call ending up with her predator/groomer a happy ending. To her, it's probably all "man of your dreams" stuff, but in reality it's so manipulative and sad.
@@gordonramsayslambsauce I'm not saying it's a happy ending. But it was presented in that way. I agree 100% but the show pushed their relationship so hard for some reason. In the end, one of them should have been A. That would have made the show sooo good.
The thing is for Aria, A was actually kind of helping her… Ezra was absolutely a predator. We find out that he knew who she was when they met, even if he did it should have ended when he BECAME HER TEACHER. For Aria it was extremely difficult and I can understand how she felt like A was being hard on her as well but babe, if your evil stalker who hits people with cars says your boyfriend isn’t a good guy then maybe you should listen?
I agree with Emily having it the worse in season 2 AND I would also add for Hanna finding out her best friend, Mona, is A. For Emily, Spencer, Aria, finding out their peer was A is one thing, but finding out it was your best friend is next level. And this same best friend hit you with a car! I also like why you gave it to Emily overall. I think my initial thoughts was Hanna, but Emily being forced to step being a parent, yeahh, I'll give it to her too.
I think season one: its Emily’s just because if you are ever out, it’s one of the worst things you can ever go through speaking from experience, and Hannah definitely had the eating disorder which was definitely terrible, but coming out you should be on your own terms, and I feel horrible for EM season 2:
The fact that Aria was the only one who didn't forgave Charlotte and didn't want her out of the hospital after the time jump was INSANE like miss you went through nothing compared to your friends
I would say Spencer had it the worst and here is why: first its the sibling rivalry between Spencer and her sister Melissa, then at times arguments with Alison, and hitting her with the shovel. the Adderall pill that kept her awake to do tons of research on Ezra she was convinced that he was A and it was also her past addiction. then there's being at the Institute like Mona. Seeing Toby engaged. being with Alex. also Spencer has an evil twin.
I love the fact we can all agree it wasn’t Aria.
Haha! Fr
@cece-gc6glyeah it’s still not Aria

aria: has to dye her hair

@@laraemeyer I'd cut my bangs
it's so funny because the showrunners want us to think that aria is suffering the same as the other girls, so you have conversations like "bestie i was run over by a car", and aria will reply "bestie i get you, ezra didn't answer my phone call"
So true! like sometimes she just acts like it’s so bad I mean it is but it’s not as bad as what the other girls went through
Okay but we can agree aria is def suffering in the end because she finds out the man who’s been grooming her also dated her friend at like 14 and knew she was 15 the whole time and was using her to write his book and some weird shit
Like yes the other girls went through more terrifying shit throughout but arias was still traumatizing
Emily probably had the worst thing done to her by A with the pregnancy, but I think overall in life, Spencer had it worst. Theres so much that happens to Spencer that isnt even the result of A and by the end of the show, her entire life was a lie lmao.
It still makes me mad to this day that she's the only one who didn't get an on-screen happy ending with Toby, like all the other girls did.

Lmaoo no way, Emily literally had her gf die, her dad die, was outed, AND she had to date Paige McCullers, that alone is enough to give her the top spot.
A taking Emily’s eggs and putting them in Alison has got to be the craziest thing they ever did 😭

So real
LMFAOOOO

And then she was pointless for the last half of the show 😂 she literally could have died and nobody would have cared. That’s pretty shitty to me
Personally I think impact wise, Spencer definitely had it the worse.
I think ‘A’ used Aria’s inappropriate relationship with her teacher as a means of knocking her down a few pegs especially since whenever they found out about it, suddenly Aria was “growing up too fast” and needed to “slow down and act her age”.
wait stop this is so true
Emily was also framed for destroying the statue 😂
Damn 🖤
Aria was only going through a lot bc of the secret with her teacher
oh my god that’s brilliant
I think Emily’s egg being stolen was awful, but Allison being literally impregnated is much worse I’d say
I think it's pretty equal tbh. It was both could be classified as sexual assault.
@@faycoleman9023 I’m aware, but there’s a spectrum to sexual assault.
agreed, being is alison’s position would literally be a nightmare
Mentally it’s worse for Emily (but it is pretty dam close), physically it’s Alison - but realistically it’s just fucked up for the both of them and it’s the worst thing A did by far
Tbh maybe A *not* exposing Ezria was one of the worst things they did
You're actually so right
I do think Hanna had it worst, she was run over, had a thing implanted into her tooth, direct triggers to her ED, her best friend was A, got heavy trauma, her relationship with Caleb only started because Jenna was paying him etc etc etc
I agree but I also see a tie with Emily lol … Emily was outed, forced to kill someone, first gf killed, forced to have kids, almost drowned in a pool (wasn’t A but … 😂)
She was litteraly kidnapped twice!!!
A also framed her mom and put her in jail on a murder she didn't commit
the torture she went through when she was kidnapped
Absolutely agree, her life was in danger the most out of all of them.
you forgot that emily’s parents also got sent the fake scholarship letter that largely contributed to her stress ulcer
I never thought of Emily as the worst off but that’s an excellent point, A took one of the only things she had and it did derail her.
Yep 100% plus she’s the only one whose love interest literally got killed.
Missed opportunity to have Aria be Big A
I agree, even Aria’s actress was convinced her character was A
You could argue any of them (Besides Aria tbh) of who went through the most traumatic events but Emily's overall life was ruined the most.
And her girlfriend died too and she was framed for destroying that mural and Paige tried to drown her and the school was like haha that’s cute and didn’t do anything really serious about it
agreed, emily’s life was ruined in so many ways
they all have trauma why compre them?
@@miamarino339 I mean, not to be mean, but that was quite literally the point of this video and discussion lol
@@saltysirensxwe do not know that at all for sure it’s literally a big conspiracy .
This video made me realise how little impact the things A did to Aria actually had on her compared to the other girls - like somehow she always just seemed to get off so easy and now makes me think how I never even suspected Aria as A.
Being in a box with a literal dead body is the worst
I agree, I think Emily had it the worse then next would be Hanna but her being forced to have kids she wasn’t ready for was wild along with all the ways she was attacked
Agreed
Just seeing the title I immediately said, “Oh Aria, for sure.” And then I laughed because it was impossible to say that with a straight face.
My serious answer goes back and forth between Emily and Spencer. I feel like Emily had some of the worst things done to her, but Spencer had the most amount of bad things done to her. Quality vs Quantity of suffering, if you will.
I can’t not say aria lmao. She was straight groomed by her teacher sense she was 16 like I can’t even think about that

I’ve always thought it was Spencer, but you’ve made a case for Emily that has changed my mind!
Spencer was dealing with her family, education, and the A mystery since season 1.
she literally carried the WHOLE show on her back. lets be so fr. the liars couldnt have done it without spencer
She basically found out her whole life was one big lie and then some, then didn't even get a proper happy ending like the rest of the girls.
one of the worst parts of the cupcake fiasco (imo) is that it's mona that's acting as a, who was supposed to be hanna's best friend at the time
That makes it so so much worse
I feel like A had a personal vendetta against Hanna to make her as miserable as possible and just wanted Emily dead
@@alexjames7144 Agree, she just wanted Emily out of the way, nothing really personal, whereas with Hanna, she seemed to hate her
I didn't watch PLL when it was airing but watching as an adult, Emily's story was horrifying. The planting the eggs in a friend's body thing is stuff of nightmares
7:03 Sometimes I think about how the Perfectionists made it out to be a lighthearted memory ("remember when A made Hanna eat all those cupcakes?"), and just...ugh
From A, Emily. Overall, Spencer. Like her whole life was a lie.
hanna is a close 2nd.
Definitely, she's definitely the one that definitely will be the most traumatized in the long run. That shit will stay with her for life.
the only thing emily ever "did wrong" was be gay LMAO
This reminds me of the old S1 promos that had words like "liar" and "thief" on the girls foreheads and Emily's just said "gay" 😭
i feel like spencer she was so emotionally abused by A to the point she ended up in a mental institution, watching her go through her addiction and thinking toby is dead was so hard to watch. she then gets a few years off and when she gets back she finds out her whole family is a lie and her secret sister is out to kill her??? how she managed to hold on as long as she did is crazy i would’ve broke by season 2.
also the fact two older men who were dating her sister prayed on her and every time her sister blamed her for it
I do feel like Allison’s torture gets overlooked.
Yea personally I think Alison got it the worst, somebody tried to kill her at Noel Kahn’s party, she was knocked upside the head with a rock and buried by her mom while she couldn’t move or say anything, forced to be on the run, almost gets strangled to death in her home, watches her mom get buried, gets set up for a murder she didn’t commit, everyone turns against her (which was Mona post A but it was something A wanted), finds out big A is the woman she idolized and helped so much (Cece), is forcibly institutionalized and impregnated against her will
She is my favorite member of the group
Same with Caleb’s SA from A

Before clicking on the video I thought it was Hanna, but you managed to convince me that Emily deserves this sad title more…
I think Emily had some of the most traumatic things happen to her and life changing things. However, I think Hanna was the most targetted by A. Being set up for murder of her best friend, getting literally put in jail, and being abducted? A was up late at night planning to f*** her up😂
I feel like A wanted Emily dead and wanted Hannah to suffer like why was it so personal with those two
not trying to sound like i hated emily or anything, but the first season convinced me that her character was going to die at some point.
She was always in the mist and felt the cold eve when it wasn't directed t her
I forgot how absolutely batshit insane this show was
i think hanna had it the worst. Emily was joint second with spencer , for spencer it was more non- A related whereas for emily it was more A related, then aria is last
The liar that went through the most trauma is literally anyone apart from Aria😂
I so wish Ella busted Ezria because that totally was needed lol that relationship should've been ousted in the very beginning
" she's not very happy pride " 😭I died
I have a theory that when Mona said the liars took Hanna from her, that her and Hanna were best friends before she became part of the liars group. I think when Alison stole Hanna away from Mona, that was the spark that started her down the 'A' path.
I think the show did Mona dirty too because after she got help, she saved the liars asses so many times, yet they never gave her the time of day after. All she wanted was to become their friends, but they all shot her down over and over.
I gotta say, in their situation I wouldn’t forgive her either
Nothing says “I care about Hana” like running her over with a car and almost killing her.🤣🤣🤣
oh my god it’s soooo spencer imo she did not leave the trenches for a single episode, she was fighting for her life every single day !
Aria really had it the easiest. They should've set it up for her to be A, I thought it was her based on that logic alone. Nothing bad really happened to her. Hannah and Emily really went through it. They were tied for me. Spencer had less bad but the things that did were worse as far as weight.
they were gearing up to have her as A but a lot of people were anticipating it so they changed it last minute
Aria got groomed by her teacher. That sounds terribel.
@@soogyuing1137none of this is true. People just pulled this theory out their asses
hannah is such an interesting unique situation because she’s the only one who got repeatedly physically tortured. emily + spencer both had a few bad scrapes but what they went through was almost completely psychological (will never be over A making spencer think she straight up murdered somebody MULTIPLE TIMES….). they’re all carrying mental scars from this experience but hannah has physical ones she’s got to keep for her whole life now as well. granted I don’t have any real opinion on who had it Worst other than “definitely not aria” (making her grapple with being the only murderer could’ve been interesting, but every liar except spencer has killed someone so that’s kind of out the window), but I think people tend to forget just how badly hannah got beat up when most of A’s m.o. is psychological warfare
no matter what A does i always go back to the fact Hanna was HIT BY A CAR?! like HIT BY A CAR?!!
Hanna, Emily, Spencer: Framed for murder, murder attempts made on them, friends and family are dead, family sent to prison
Aria: Had to dye her hair
I feel like I forget the traumatic things Emily went through because she irritated me so much. She was allowed to spiral and hold her grudges while snapping at her friends whenever they even attempted to hold onto their pain and anger for more than a day. But she did go through a looot.
I agree Emily had the worst and I’ve watched Pretty Little Liars a thousand times on repeat and I’ve always said she had it the worst then Spencer then Hanna
i think overall it's spencer and hanna who go through the ringer, but emily's pregnancy is probably the worst thing that happened to any of them.
They all suffered a lot.
But Spencer literally went to a mental hospital after seeing her boyfriend’s (but turns out it wasn’t) dead body…
tbf aria did get groomed throughout the ENTIRE series. she meets the groomer in episode 1 and ends up marrying said groomer in the finale. although that doesn't really have anything to do with A but i'd still say it's pretty tough lol
Also mainly being the one who was framed for most of the murders or crimes that were committed
Pretty little liars is one of my favorite shows of all time I constantly play it on repeat I'm new to your channel glad I found this video and your channel ill definitely be binging your videos
hannah lowkey did have it the worse but troian is such a good actress you felt compelled by the pain spencer felt so it seemed like she went thru more
Aria gets it so easy in the first few seasons I swear that’s because they initially wanted her to be A
I love Lucy as an actress but I hated Aria after how she reacted to Hanna telling her about what Zach did to her
Loved this video❤.
Aria doesn’t it take it that far but I think Hanna got it the worst
I think A wise it would be
1) Emily
2) Hanna
3) Spencer
4) Aria
but otherwise, overall it would be
1) Spencer
2) Emily
3) Hanna
4) Aria
I loved this video ❤
Can you make a video about the worst to best duo of friendships between the Liars ? I would loveee that
Yes it's on my to-do list!! ❤️
I haven't finished watching this but the answer is Not Aria. Literally every other Liar had it worse than her.
Now, if someone asks me “what TV show universe would you not want be in,” I’m picking this show 😭
I mean if your not part of the main girls\ apart of their closest people you be find it would be the vampire daries for me for obivous reasons
@@dragonslastfyl2203 yes i would love to be in tvdu😭
i go back n forth between thinking spencer hannah or emily had it the worst … all i know is it wasnt aria😭
I don't think the amount of bad things matters as much as the magnitude of things that happened
Before even watching the vid, my gut is saying spencer. The sauna scene was messed up
Aria DIDNT have it the worst. That’s why I thought she was secretly A😂
lol me too and I thought she killed Charlotte😂
I’m at the beginning of season 4 but I wanted to watch this so I’m gonna stop there and save this for later love your videos
I can’t believe aria is your favorite liar lol she is the actual worst. I like Allison more than aria
AND her own brother being creepy. i think so too. alison DID have it the worst.
emily was proper targeted in season 2😭
John cena saying “Lauren daisy” took me out as a first time viewer 😭🤣
Hannah literally got burnt with a cattle prod
The thing is for Aria, A was actually kind of helping her… Ezra was absolutely a predator. We find out that he knew who she was when they met, even if he did it should have ended when he BECAME HER TEACHER. For Aria it was extremely difficult and I can understand how she felt like A was being hard on her as well but babe, if your evil stalker who hits people with cars says your boyfriend isn’t a good guy then maybe you should listen?
Alison did, there isn’t much worse than being buried alive
Going into this I thought obviously it was Spencer's but your points made me think about Emily
I think my initial thoughts was Hanna, but Emily being forced to step being a parent, yeahh, I'll give it to her too.
just found your channel, i'm obsessed
❤️
I think
season one: its Emily’s just because if you are ever out, it’s one of the worst things you can ever go through speaking from experience, and Hannah definitely had the eating disorder which was definitely terrible, but coming out you should be on your own terms, and I feel horrible for EM
season 2:
The fact that Aria was the only one who didn't forgave Charlotte and didn't want her out of the hospital after the time jump was INSANE like miss you went through nothing compared to your friends
IDK. Let's ask the car that's parked in Emily's living room. Or the log saw that almost chopped her in half. Maybe her stomach ulcers might know.
Everyone besides aria lol
