    Arkham Horror is a life-changing event. Solo is all I play. Granted I play two-hand solo, but its so much fun. Highly recommended.

    Arkham Horror is definitely worth playing single player as well as multiplayer.
    If you end up buying a lot of expansions, make sure you play as Mark Harrigan (soldier) and build a deck centered around ally cards... Specifically, having mulitiple allies at a time. It's really REALLY useful and can get you through most challenges without having another player handy.

    I only play Arkham Horror single player. Just using the base set, I'd recommend Roland Banks. He has a good balance between combat and investigating. Jenny Barnes is probably best for solo play but she was released in the first big box expansion.
    I'd also recommend playing with additional characters once you get the hang of the game. Playing a more specialized character is a lot of fun but they can struggle to solo a campaign.

    Arkham Horror is definitely worth playing solo, especially if you use only one investigator. It provides an entirely different play experience. In multiplayer games each person can specialize in a certain role or task, but in the solo version, one investigator has to either be able to handle every role, or good enough at one in particular that they can win the scenario with it. Besides that, the game is just great and never disappoints. Give it a try!

    Yes it’s a blast solo, and Roland Banks is the best starter to solo with as he is good at the two main aspects of the game... getting clues and combat. He’s pretty straight forward too for new players. Have fun! It’s consumed me. lol

  • @CanadianMerc
    @CanadianMerc 6 лет назад +1

    Playing solo can also be done two handed, where you play two investigators at once. Not as hard as it sounds. When doing that, the best potential for victory is probably using two specialist investigators, one good at combat and one good at clues. Daisy and Roland are a good combo in the base game. Agnes is also a good combat specialist that is a little less consistent due to reliance on Shrivelling.

    Any of the characters are good for solo play on AHLCG. As for tips, I recommend if you draw a bad chaos token, put it back in the bag and draw again. No one will know.

    AH plays incredibly well solo. I’ve tried one character and two, and found one character preferable. Recommend Roland Banks for the very first solo play, but he is the most vanilla of the characters available.

    I'd like to try Arkham Horror LCG, but I've been told that you need to buy 2 base sets to have enough cards to be truly succesful and then also have to buy all of the expansion sets. I just can't get behind buying 2 bases. I want everything that I need in the box. Expansions are expected, but you shouldn't have to buy 2 base sets, in my opinion.

  • @sluggo562

    That's funny, I also just recently dove into arkham lcg solo, as girlfriend has been busy with work and I hadn't yet tried it. There are a lot of great "netdecks" out there if you're feeling like avoiding the deckbuilding aspect. General consensus seems to be that you need to buy one copy of all expansions and two copies of the core set to get the pool needed for a powerful, consistent deck, even for solo play. Alternatively, you can sleeve cards and use photocopies of the doubles you lack.

    • @jrit12389
      @jrit12389 6 лет назад

      I agree with Sluggo. The deck building online is a good way to grasp some ideas to help develop your own style to manage your way through scenarios and as you get more expansions you have new things to change your game play. It was an impulse buy for me a few months ago and got hooked. Happy gaming!

    At this point, starting Arkham LCG will be a big investment. Time for FFG to release premade investigator decks so people can just jump in any campaign. I am playing with 4 players, it is great.

    • @b.c.eckhoff3495
      @b.c.eckhoff3495 6 лет назад +1

      Pierre Carette All you need is the core set and you can jump in anywhere... you don’t need to do all the deluxe expansions in any particular order. Each is its own unique story... so it’s already set up that way...

    If you are a completionist (and I think you are) AHLC is a deep rabbit hole. Plus there are a LOT of bling components available for storage, chit upgrades etc. But it is a pretty cool rabbit hole if that is your thing. I love it solo playing two characters. Roland is good, but don't limit yourself. There are a ton of investigators to try out.

    Re: Arkham Horror
    The core set recomends Wendy and Rolland for the first time scenario and that's a good combo. I would suggest playing single player to control 2 investigators.
    While it's a great game solo it's AMAZING with other people, the Labyrinth of Lunacy is a 12 player scenario where you break up into groups of 4 and EVERY BODY needs to work together.
    Tips: Read EVERYTHING on the card including the flavor text and the game art.
    Also don't kill the priest!

      It's not just the expansions either. The blinging out of the components and getting fancy storage solutions is a hobby/money sink on its own.

    Arkham Horror: LCG is a fantastic solo game. It can be played and beaten single handed or multi handed. It flows very well and so very thematic. Love it. I'd get some coin capsules for the mythos tokens but it's not necessary.

    Should the "July" list be done at the end of July?

    • @GameNightPicks
      @GameNightPicks  6 лет назад

      That's a good question. Since the list (usually) comes out the first week of each month, it's based on the daily averages of the "Hottest Games” list over the previous month. So, I think of it as the hottest games going into the month. I hope this helps provide some additional info on how I put it together. :)

  • @JimCrimmins

    Yes arkham lcg is superb solo (probably best that way imo).. I play 2 decks, and Roland is a good fighter as 1 of 2 characters.. They all have their uses.. Deck composition is not as important in ah lcg than say lotr where that's the focus. Here the story Arc is the focus, and u gradually improve your deck as you progress. It's really well done imo, and lots of fun.

    I can't speak to recommending an investigator or giving tips for doing well in AH The Card Game, but it works really well with Stonemaier Game's Horror Tome - I use the hearts for health, the brains for sanity, the skulls for doom, and the magnifying glasses for clues. I also use the crates from the food crate for resources. (Huh. Haven't seen a component proponent for a while. Are they just not showing up in my sub feed or has it been a while since you did one?)

    • @GameNightPicks
      @GameNightPicks  6 лет назад

      More Component Proponent videos are coming. (I have a box full of things I've accumulated for the next one that's just about ready to go.) I hope to get back on a more regular schedule with them again, after convention season is over. :)

    Arkham Horror Lcg is amazing, wasn’t even a mythos fan prior but I went to buy lotr lcg and it was sold out so I picked up Arkham ona whim and my wife and I loved it. We have pretty much bought everything outside of the book promos. Do yourself a favor, if you like story driven co op games then pick it up. (Love it with 2 but not the greatest experience with 4 from the one time we tried it but one person really didn’t want to like the game)

    • @SPACEB0YZER0

      Probably only issue with game is the cost because you will want everything and at least 2 cores by the time it is all said and done.

    So it’s not sale base to show the top 10, just people talking about it and creators keeping the discussion going? Not a fan of playing solo board or card games outside of solitary-AH doesn’t feel right playing it by yourself....

    • @GameNightPicks
      @GameNightPicks  6 лет назад +1

      Hello! Yes, you are correct. The "top 10 hotness list" is based on the BoardGameGeek traffic and activity stats. I would like to add another series that's based on sales, but I'm finding that sales data is very fragmented, even among distributors. Some publisher have exclusive distribution deals with some distributors, and some publishers distribute their games themselves. So, it's very difficult to obtain enough sales stats to piece together a conclusive picture of the recent best selling games. But if that info becomes available, I definitely would like to feature it!

    • @suanniiq
      @suanniiq 6 лет назад

      Pair Of Dice Paradise thank you for the kind and informative response! I do like your content, at first I thought it was dealing with sales and finally picked up it is based upon how much people are talking about the game. Be interesting to find out and compare the sales number to people talking about the game and see if they match lol

Maybe we should try not to ruin our own planet? Mars is just a deadly wasteland more deadly than any desert on Earth.
