Minimum wage in the state of Minnesota is $9.86 an hour. Which is $2.61/hr more than every state it borders, except South Dakota (which it bests by $1.76). $14 an hour for bitch work is quite reasonable. I've gotten paid a worse margin for literally breaking rocks in the hot sun... non-mechanized landscaping laborer is far worse than mechanized farm labor.

I personally have grown up in a farming family all my life. I’m 13, if I ever did any of this I would be disowned by my family. I drive the combine, drive the tractors, spray, run the augers, fix the machinery. Even when it’s a school day I get up at 4:00 go out to the field for 2 hours go to school and right after go do cow, pig, and chicken chores. Then go back out to the field and stay there till about 12:00. I only get about 3-5 hours of sleep a day. And people that lay in there beds all day think that there life is hard. Come be a farmer I dare you. 🤷🏼♀️🤪🤦🏼♀️

I'm a city boy from San Antonio, I'm a millennial born in 1995, my major was Criminal Justice in community college, I wouldn't mind working on a farm for $14 an hour! Plus the hard work would help me get back into shape!
I wish I was in my 20's as I would do it. I'm no longer at a point in life for that type of job to work out. Now I drive my truck around the Midwest mostly picking up and delivering refrigorated food. I see so many farms and ranches.
I'm a millenial. Never went to college and was born in the city but I'd actually love to do farm work. It's much harder but has more freedom than a cuble and more interesting than factory work. More to learn than both. Much respect.

That’s a true story!!! We just fired a man who wanted to do ranch work. Asked the guy to dig a hole next to a new water trough to plumb it in and he quit Bc he got hot. Maybe I should have took him to chipottle too and fed him some Australian beef!

I'm 66 years old and I grew up farming in California. Worked on the farm as kid for $1.00 a day. Of course room and board was included. Wouldn't trade the experience for anything!

That always seemed odd to me. If I were going to work at such a place, I'd fully expect to be like General Labor 1 with duties including the things I'm told to do and continuing to do the things I'm told to do until I'm told to go home. Rinse and repeat for 2 years.

I used to book bands for my label and one of my bands wanted to know why another band on the label was getting on the radio and doing a big show and I told them it was pretty simple. They all show up to rehearsal, they work really hard, they take all my production suggestions and they write a lot more. It's pretty simple.
That is because the colleges made all of us graduates believe we were worth $85-250k right out the door.
@@TallTexasGMan I've never really met anyone who thought that, although it has been awhile since I've been in college (10 years). I think many people were taken aback by being offered jobs on which they could not live or jobs in which they were making the same money as doing unskilled work. I've seen some pretty crazy things in job postings myself as the years have gone by. Certainly, we told a generation of people to go to school so that they could get a good job only to find that when it was time to take up those jobs they had been automated away, off-shored, eliminated, or simply no longer existing. Until companies are willing to train these young graduates into different jobs and fields I imagine there will continue to be a labor crunch. The fact that there are people who are working full time and can't afford to live is a terrible indictment of our current economy.
