  • TV commercial for recently-converted FM radio station in Melbourne KZFM which was launching a money giveaway competition during this period due to the recent FM conversion. KZFM was previously AM music station 3KZ which had been broadcasting in Melbourne since 1930 and at the time of the switch was on the frequency of 1179 kHz.
3KZ successfully bid for a conversion to the FM band in 1989 with the switch occurring on New Yeas Day 1990 switching to 104.3 MHz. The station was re-branded KZFM and later Gold 104.3 Its official callsign is 3KKZ in line with 3-letter callsigns for Australian FM stations and 2 letter ones for AM stations.
Note the advertisement shows the paper Australian $20 note which was part of the older paper series of Australian banknotes dating back to the introduction of decimal currency in Australia in 1966. This was replaced with a polymer banknote of the same colour in 1994 as part of a progressive conversion of Australian banknotes to polymer.
From a VHS recording, February 1990.
