I always thought it was a bit rough to be paying for a long stretch of the former 'South Eastern Freeway'- which had already been paid for by Victorian taxpayers. But what would I know? Throwing sand at the media- a classic Kennett move. I'm by no means a fan of his policies or his political agenda (I would never vote Liberal in my life), but at least he had a sense of humour. I became friends with one of his kids, who felt similarly to myself about many of his father's political decisions. It must have been hell at times, having an association that's beyond your control. Thanks for the U/L. It's always good to see historic footage of Melbourne.

Not as iconic fall damaging as the "Big Red" or "Heavy Green" more alittle classy and found in many malls or shopping centres. In the 90's there was a blue version with a black handle etc.

I sadly never really got to travel on the once iconic orange livery of V/Line in the 1980's but I do remember it alot. It wasn't until 2017 that I got travel on them and they were so-so at best.

Farmers were once highly regarded and respected in the 1980's. They were seen as a national icon or a hero, we even excursions to farms as well. Nowadays you barely hear about them except their struggles to times of self deletion, hiring pack packers and involved with many other suss activities. That guy looks alike the guy from the late 90's to early 2000's Danoz Direct promoter....It's a bit sad really with our farmers.

A core memory for me. Back then it was scary, my grandma horrified me with End of the World & Y2K Bug scares in the news, as computers might read 1/1/1900 instead of 1/1/2000. I was 10 yrs old, worried about everything turning dark & collapsing after countdown. Everything turned out alright ❤️ The best fireworks display from many countries that we’ve seen on television. Now I miss my grandma, and the people gathering & celebrating without getting scared or hurt 🥲

Wow, they recorded even in my country! In my country, the program was broadcasted on TVP2, under the name of "Świat wita 2000 rok", which means: "World welcomes the year of 2000". This part was called (in Poland, yep) "Włochy - błogosławieństwo Papieża, Północ w Europie" - "Italy - Pope's blessing, Midnight in Europe", that recordings were from polish broadcast, called "Warszawa wita 2000 rok", which means: "Warsaw welcomes 2000".
