    It’s not the hybrid that upsets me, it is the price. For a modestly spec’d GTS, you can get Ferrari 488, or a 675LT with way more power and soul. Porsche prices have become ridiculous.

    I appreciate the fact that they keep engineering the 911 to stay fun and relevant. I’m a manual guy and own a 991.2 and a 992 Targa GTS. I’m sad to see it go but understand they had no choice. It’s not them taking it away from us. It’s the relentless pursuit of emission standards that keep taking things away from us that we love.

    They will still make 911 variants with Manual transmissions, they wont be hybrids or likely the more impressive ones. They'll charge more for less, and the buyers will be glad to overpay to shift their own gears. If you want a "cheaper" 911 manual get the current or earlier one.

    I just accepted delivery on a 992.1 (now) Carrera - and I still love the less aggressive look I got, and the center dash dial. In terms of an investment, the base price continues to climb at this rate when the base gets the hybrid turbo - the increase should be an additional 10K from what it is now - figuring at least 1-2 years out.

      I don’t know that nor do you. I constantly argue with my little liberal friends who absolutely insist everything will be electric by 2035. We can already tell that’s not going to happen. Meanwhile, hybrid technology seems to do pretty well getting better mileage. I own one. The hybrid engine in my Lexus is awesome. But it’s not a sports car. I’m sure that 50 years from now there will be a mixture of all three types of technology with a couple of other ones thrown in there as well. Hopefully we can all agree to get government out of these decisions.

    • @Encourageable
      @Encourageable 3 месяца назад +1

      @@BrettL250 yeah, the technology is not there yet. And few want EVs because the resale value is so bad - they’ll need to make swapping batteries about as easy as changing the battery in a remote control. • @BrettL250
      @BrettL250 3 месяца назад +2

      @@Encourageable battery technology is definitely a problem as you mentioned. Not just changing them but charging times. But the biggest problem by far is infrastructure. There’s no way they’re going to have that fixed in 30 years. It took them 10+ years just to rebuild a tower in New York City. We will need millions of charging stations installed everywhere, including apartment complexes, hotels, shopping, malls, etc. Also getting back to your battery challenges where do you suppose they’re going to mine all the materials required for today’s batteries? That’s a massive problem. I think they might come up with a new technology for sure on that but only time will tell. Either way it shouldn’t be dumbass governments telling us how to do this. It should be the market that determines the direction we go.

It’s clear we have faster and more torque and horse power…but No one has a single number or relative figure to give on how much more efficient the car is in terms of pollution? Is this enough to stop electrifying the car like a Prius?…we all know VW has been not entirely honest before when it comes to emissions, I like to know what this new engine is capable of in terms of emissions? As far as i know the new GTS emissions are higher than the precious 992.1 model.
