Oh buddy its not even funny how bad truck prices are in Canada. Here on the west coast a lot of buyers look at diesels for being able to have no issues transporting loads or campers through the mountains. With that said a modern f350 XLT can dangerously easily hit 85-90k before taxes.
No, we do not have to accept the prices that these trucks are selling for today. If people just don't buy them, things will change. Look at a used truck or keep driving what you have. As for prices here in the US mid-atlantic area the new 2024 STX with a 2.7L can be found with over $10,000 in discounts off MSRP putting plenty of these trims in the sub $45K range which to me is reasonable. I'm looking at used 21+ F150s, a XLT crew cab 4x4 with less than 30k miles can be had for at or below 40k. Compared to brand new, that seems relatively affordable to me.
Another plus is that you can get the shorter extended cab with the real-sized bed if you want to do truck things but don’t want your overall length to be ridiculously long. And, for me, the rear hinged doors on my extended cab are more convenient to access the stuff in the back seat area. You can also add a rear locker without having to buy an expensive off road version, which usually requires you to give up your bed length. I currently have a 2020 extend cab and will get another one next year.
100% agree on the column shifter. I bought a ‘23 F150 with the 2.7L and tow package, around $51,000 CAD, still have 10,000 lbs towing and 1800 lbs cargo capacity. Yes it’s poor fuel economy towing but it’s great when not towing, does just as well as my previous Ranger.

Two things: 1) a trailer brake on a truck should be a standard thing, NOT an add on. 2) You don’t need 400hp for the average person to haul a trailer. That 2024 F-150 STX FX4 (201A) package is a nice sweet spot. It's basically last year's Rattler. I never cared for these trucks until this good looking refresh. It's great that they have the 12" screen and big digital dash standard now. So is the 36 gallon tank! By the way, the 3.5 is a Canadian thing, it's not available on our STX FX4's, just the 2.7 and 5.0.
sometimes you have no choice. On other hand, if new truck prices are so high, then used vehicles are also high. Few years old truck now asking price is more then new few years ago. So, people would have to just stop buying anything, which is not possible
In 2020 my stx was 41,000 msrp and I paid 36,000 u.s. that truck is a little nicer than mine with a few more options but inflation hit everything. Look how much everything has risen just a sign of the times.
For the $60k price tag, I’ll just move up to the stx F250 , off road pkg long bed, extended fuel tank, and probably get some discounts along the way, however, people should buy what they need for themselves and not just because, I need a bigger truck for the towing and payload capacity of the 3/4 ton truck after having my 2019 ram 1500 for a couple of years now I need more room and capacity for parts that I deliver to mechanics and paint and body shops in the area
Ford and every other truck company should be ashamed with how they are pricing these things. Side note, your videos helped me decide what truck I was going to buy a few months back
You can get a 2024 F150 STX Super crew 4X4 on auto-trader new vehicle for 50K in canada. There is a tone of them on their 0 KM. That is with the 2.7 EcoBoost though. All trims come with big screen and driver screen.
I really like the stx. Especially with the fx4 package with the black bumpers. But i agree 72 CAD is way too much. I am seeing plenty of these with the 2.7 for 60k CAD and 1.9% finance for ford employee pricing right now. But even then, its still so expensive. I do really like all of the options that ford gives you on such a basic truck. This truck really stands out compared to a new Chev or Ram with similar trims. The mobile work station and 5.0L on this FX4 would be the perfect truck for me. I would probably add heated seats though.
@@davidporter7051in that sense no 1/2 ton engine was made for a truck. My 5.0 is fantastic in my F-150 and I don’t think I’d trade it for any other engine in the lineup.
@@davidporter7051 all I said was that it is a fantastic engine for my F-150… I also said all engines in the 1/2 ton segment are similarly designed and implemented when spec’d for pickup use.
That truck specifically is way over priced. In my Atlanta GA area I can get the STX for around 45 to 47,000 with no options. That’s not bad at all. And I can get my V8 🔥
It’s looks like they are nickel and diming small features to jack this shit up. Dual exhaust with bumper cutouts and the power outlets, plus the digital dash to name a few. My 20 stx was 47k USC and had buyers guilt for 2 years lol
My 23 XLT lightning SR is a 312a package, nicely equipped (they trimmed down a bunch of the options on the 24 XLT, 311 truck) and the sticker was 74k with the tow technology package, mats and spray in bed liner. Minus 10750 from the feds and province. People hate on EVs but it's the only half ton that is a reasonable deal right now. Pro power onboard 9.6, adaptive cruise, tailgate step, LEDs that turn the corner, worksurface, heated steering wheel and seats, power tailgate. Plus not a fortune of fuel going into it. Works for me, not for everyone, saving a serious amount of money 26k km since November. If we had USA fuel prices I likely would have kept my 2018 Ram 1500 Sport Hemi (154k km on that truck time to trade for mileage as well). Crazy taxes on the fuel up here and it's just too much. This trim level is too much money!
I recently shopped the STX F150. Ford plays games with their pricing. The trucks are overpriced to start with and then they start tossing around different rebates every other week to try to make it feel like it’s a good deal. It really turned me off as a buyer, the silly games and ultimately led me to not buy a Ford.
FYI, 2025 prices are going up due to base prices and options rising, while also getting items moved from lower tier option packs into high tier ones. It is a sh!t show. In Canada, the lowest price Ford trucks are the STX with 2.7 and no extras around 56K+tax, due entirely to the "Ford Employee Pricing" that is on until Sep 30th. Reasonable Financing rates as well. I'm only considering buying now as it will get worse next year and unlikely better in '26. The situation is getting silly.
3 years ago I bought a tundra limited for $48,000 Canadian. These prices are way too high and there’s too much technology crap to motivate me to replace my truck.
Damped tailgate part can be purchased from Ford for ~60ish USD and installed within a hour by owner. It's actually very simple. Towing and payload are not bad vs competition but about 1000lbs less payload than the old Heavy payload package which ford discontinued in 2023. At 60k US, not a value. The 7k options are really 4x4 (~5k usd), ecoboost and FX4 would be the rest. Also remember, you are paying for the crewcab (~7k USD) vs regular cab.
@@mobile_12 We can get the 5.0 coyote, which I prefer to the 3.5. The optional mobile package is near worthless. I decided not to get it, because you have to twist to use it and you can get a steering wheel laptop holder for much less(amazon has them for under 50usd). Plus it's an uncomfortable arm rest. If you just want to eat lunch or send a couple emails, the mobile package is ok but WAY over priced. the 400w inverter is not even pure sine wave so it's a good way to wear out your sensitive electronic power supplies.
Looks like a great work truck, or regular truck, but the price is ridiculous, like all prices these days. January 2021, our Suburban Z71 was $79k, the same vehicle now is $100k.
My work place actually has a 2013 ford f150 with that same motor I don’t really like it it feels weak but my personal truck is a ford 1 ton with a diesel so maybe that’s why
Those are great stats for payload except for one thing. When you put two big guys like you and your dad in the truck, the payload drops to about 1100 pounds. And then, as you said, is the price. Then there is the reliability factor which is almost never mentioned.
I just bought a 2024 3.5 powerboost XLT for US $49000. 302A with Black out package. the STXs in my area are going for 42-45k. not sure where this price is coming from
Chances are could go to a dealer and get that $72000 truck for 64,000 or less to get it closer to the 60g you feel comfortable with paying. Its still rediculous that my loaded f150 lariat back in 2015 was $64500 msrp, and my nicely specd 2012 fx4 with heated and cooled seats was $46,500 after rebates.
I think the driver side rear isn't designed to fold down. It 'can' but with this latch sticking up like it is, doesn't see designed with the same considerations as the passenger side which is flat without a latch sticking out. And $60k (US) for an STX?!?! Ford has completely lost touch with the consumer, the STX used to be an affordable way to make an XL not look like a work truck.
There are some youtube videos showing how to mod. that latch to make it easier to release. I basically tied a heavy cord to a key-ring, attached that to the latch & secured upper end of cord to the headrest support. Believe you can buy a solution off ebay or amazon
If I was buying, it would be the midsized cab, 2.7L XL with the 101A package (stock black bumpers and steel wheels) FX4 package and 3.73 gears. Integrated trailer brake. Spray on bed liner, soft fold tonneau cover. And probably a couple other little minor tweaks. Just wish they offered larger towing mirrors. As optioned with "employee pricing" event, I'm out the door at $58k CAD plus tax and fees. Still too damn much.
The web site shows that you can order large towing mirrors, the same as on F-250's, if you get the tow/haul package. A salesman said those mirrors are also available from the parts department but that costs a little more.
@davep4610 yes. But not offered on this specific trim. This is the base model. If I stepped up to the STX then yes I can. I'm sure there's an aftermarket option, but it would have been nice.
Yup. Need the STX trim with the V8 and tow package. Puts the price to $62k and the color I want isn't the color I want. The FX4 isn't available in the STX trim now. that might be because cab size.
I just bought a 2024 XL (I needed 6 seats) crew cab 4x4 with the 2.7, 3.73 locking rear, trailer brake controller, the appearance package that gives it chrome bumpers, tinted rear windows, and 17" alloy wheels. $51k sticker, I got it for around $46k. sometimes you have no choice. On other hand, if new truck prices are so high, then used vehicles are also high. Few years old truck now asking price is more then new few years ago. So, people would have to just stop buying anything, which is not possible
This should be a $45,000 USD truck everyday. $59,000 USD is crazy
In 2020 my stx was 41,000 msrp and I paid 36,000 u.s. that truck is a little nicer than mine with a few more options but inflation hit everything. Look how much everything has risen just a sign of the times.
Liked and subscribed after these F-150 reviews can you please do a review on GMC 1500 AT4
Yup, did it last summer. Scroll back
For the $60k price tag, I’ll just move up to the stx F250 , off road pkg long bed, extended fuel tank, and probably get some discounts along the way, however, people should buy what they need for themselves and not just because, I need a bigger truck for the towing and payload capacity of the 3/4 ton truck after having my 2019 ram 1500 for a couple of years now I need more room and capacity for parts that I deliver to mechanics and paint and body shops in the area
I still prefer the 5.0 V8. I've driven both.
buy a Mustang. The 5.0 was made for that not a truck.
@@davidporter7051in that sense no 1/2 ton engine was made for a truck. My 5.0 is fantastic in my F-150 and I don’t think I’d trade it for any other engine in the lineup.
@@ALMX5DP it's called a fact. It is no one's fault you fail to comprehend a car engine with a different camshaft isn't a truck engine.
The truck in the video is in Canadian dollars.
Imagine they expect someone to adjust their seat manually and use a key to start the engine. Call the RCMP Steve, and don't delay!!!!!!
Excellent review!!! 😁
I wish the 6.5’ bed was standard and not the 5.5’ the shorter bed is basically worthless if you actually use the truck as a truck.
It’s looks like they are nickel and diming small features to jack this shit up. Dual exhaust with bumper cutouts and the power outlets, plus the digital dash to name a few.
My 20 stx was 47k USC and had buyers guilt for 2 years lol
Nice but yeah 70k for a truck like that we get shit on big time it shouldn't be over 55k CAD! Still nice video.
24 STX with the 2.7 are selling for just under 39K in Texas
72000 is NOT affordable !!!
But the truck is nice.
No damper on the tailgate is not a deal breaker.
I can get that for 50 bucks from princess outo.
Bring back the affordable F100!!!!!!
In Texas they have the 2024 STX Surpercrew 2WD with 2.7L for $35K.
I've seen may '24 STX trims discounted to 44k in the Charlotte, NC area. 2.7L, 4x4 (not FX4). Not cheap, but reasonable.
Super nice truck. But I agree on the price. $10k too much.
Absolutely insane price for mainly a base truck
Looks like this one is also specd out with the upgraded engine (3.5 which we don't get on the US STX) & the optional mobile office package.
Mexico here 😎✌️🇲🇽
My work place actually has a 2013 ford f150 with that same motor I don’t really like it it feels weak but my personal truck is a ford 1 ton with a diesel so maybe that’s why
Those are great stats for payload except for one thing. When you put two big guys like you and your dad in the truck, the payload drops to about 1100 pounds. And then, as you said, is the price. Then there is the reliability factor which is almost never mentioned.
Options add up quickly.
So you can get 2, 2025 XLT Mavericks for the price of one of these... That's crazy....
Not too much different to the late 00’s when a Ranger was around $10k and an equivalent F-150 was about $25k.
I bought a gently used 2022 with 30k, 501a pkg and a 1731 lb payload.
Makes this stx look like a truck from 1970.
I paid 60k cdn
I just bought a 2024 3.5 powerboost XLT for US $49000. 302A with Black out package. the STXs in my area are going for 42-45k. not sure where this price is coming from
The passenger side fog light turned on when you took that turn at 8:25
Chances are could go to a dealer and get that $72000 truck for 64,000 or less to get it closer to the 60g you feel comfortable with paying.
Its still rediculous that my loaded f150 lariat back in 2015 was $64500 msrp, and my nicely specd 2012 fx4 with heated and cooled seats was $46,500 after rebates.
it's funny you want 10 years of pay raises but want to pay the price for everything for 10 years.
A local dealership has a STX 4x4 with the 5.0 V8 for $46k USD, it seems really appealing. Thoughts?
i have the same 24 f150, with 5.0, love it, but overpriced for sure, thanks for posting, i did subcribe, great review
Welcome!
There is no "value" in any vehicle especially now, nothing with wheels, motor and transmission does anything but depreciates.
Is the SXT comparable to the Tundra SR5? My SR5 has a ton of options that make it just below the limited. Can the SXT approach the Ford XLT?
I’d take this package with the coyote engine and the larger 6.5 bed.
I own a 2021 V8 Lariat 501A and her payload number is 1697 lbs.
$60,000??? 😳😳😳😳 fuuuuu no!
Today I saw a 2024 STX 4wd 5.0 no fx4 discounted to $42k
God damn, I just learn something ''new'' on my 2021 F-150 for the backseat. 😅😅
@davep4610 just double checked. Even with the tow package on the base trim, you don't get the mirrors.
I'm in the states though, I don't know the conversion for Canada bucks.
There is no optional tail gate step available this year on the XL nor on the STX.
SXT with the 5.0 coyote would be my choice... with the FX4 and Leather bucket seats... is that possible?
You have to move up to Lariat for leather seats.
I couldn't trade in my 18 stx fast enough
I just bought my STX for $52K, And that includes a $2,000 destination fee. 5.0, fx4
So why would you buy the STX over the base?
I bought a 2024 XLT for that price.. and I got the fx4, max tow, tow mirrors.. I was looking at the STX but it was too basic..
We need work trucks like these, for sure. But can you imagine going to work everyday making payments on this for 72k.
I wouldnt sleep
Number 1 in recalls. The use of plastics , like the oil pans. Belt driven oil pumps…
Ford is all fluff and cheap stuff.
someone is paying attention. Not to mention the rust from the factory.
Belt driven oil pump is only the EB 2.7 and V8 5.0. EB 3.5 is still chain driven thank goodness.
no kidding, a tiny belt powers the oil pump. how did that ever seem like a good idea????
Been belt driven on them since '21, doesn't seem to be an issue as of yet.
@@AK_Ray that’s only a couple of years….
I got the 2024 f150 STX 4x4 with the 5.0 my payload is at 1970 pounds
Full size trucks should be a top 2 specs only. Platinum, king ranch, denali, Denali ultimate, ect, ect. Let the lower tier prices should be for mid-size trucks. Peasant truck for peasant people. Plus all mine have been company write offs. Love tax loopholes.
In 2019 I bought a new 2019 f150 Lariat for 72k Canadian. What's going on with these prices?
You should be able to have this truck with power seat heated steering wheel and seats and power back window for my dog with v8 5.0 is that I much to ask for and not spend 75,000 unbelievable
70K for something that’s going to be worth 20K in five years if you’re lucky. Worst investment ever, vehicles in general. If you NEED one well then you need one. There are almost endless ways a person could spend (invest) 70K that would be a way better investment. I have a very nice older 3/4 ton truck and was always planning on buying one last nice truck when I retired, but not for 80K here in the US. No thank you, that’s just plan crazy!
It’s just shy of $80,000 CAD all in as of late 2024 now 😳
