      Youre getting less actually theyre not being honest. The v8 today is worse than the v8 from 15 years ago. It used to be steel now its aluminum. Theyve skimped all over in ways they hope you cant see or wont notice.

    • @302Mustang13
      @302Mustang13 4 месяца назад +10

      Both wrong. A truck from 10-20 years ago would cost similar when adjusted for inflation. Those trucks would get you a four speed and 220 horsepower and optional was a sluggish 300 horsepower 5.4. The money you think you are overpaying for gets you 325 horsepower standard and 400 horsepower with either optional gas engine. That aluminum 5.0 block is super strong by the way. It can reliably handle 800-1,000 horsepower.

    • @Dat4valveGuy
      @Dat4valveGuy 3 месяца назад +3

      @@TheAnnoyingBossthe 5.0 is better than any v8 from 15 years ago and not a single problem has been caused by switching to aluminum casting. I’ll give ford crap for making it unnecessarily expensive with all the other features but the drivetrains in these trucks are solid.

    Hi! I’m thinking of getting a used F-150 as daily work truck. I have a commute of 40 mile one-way (1.5 hrs) then another 1hr drive home in horrid SoCal traffic. I haul mostly network cabling installation equipment in the bed, and do not tow.
    What model year, engine and grade do you recommend? I would like to have some of the newer active safety features such as the automatic emergency braking system to avoid front collisions, but not as critical as long-term reliability and durability. Any suggestions for a late model
    F-150 with Direct and Port Injection. Also, what immediate and affordable engine and transmission mods for reliability and durability are recommended? I’m not looking for more power, just long-term reliability and durability as I don’t have too much money and need a truck for work and personal use. Thank you!

    The biggest bummer I found is that you can no longer configure a 2.7 payload package for 2024. The 5.0l isn't weak, but the 2.7 eats its lunch unladen from a stop, and especially with a load. I had an 18' STX with the 2.7 payload package, and it stickered for 42k. STX is now a trim level, basically taking over the spot of XLT as the volume model. That being said, that is a 25% jump in price in 6 years, and again, mine had additional usefulness of a 9.75" rear end and uprated chassis and GVWR. I feel the product planners have a disconnect from the engineers, as the 2.7 has been the most purchased motor since its inception, and has had the fewest issues per 100 of any Ford motor the past 25 years. If they really wanted to simplify production, the 8.8" rear end should be a fuel efficient option that no one actually specs for lot orders so they can at least have their CAFE pie. So no, as a functional truck, we are now getting less, for a whole lot more. Add to that the high interest rates, and the massive depreciation from the inevitable incentives due to the slow market, and you get spiraling stagnation. Unfortunately, a lot of dealers won't be able to weather this storm. I can appreciate trying to put a positive spin on this to turn over the accumulating inventory, but this situation is a hard stinky turd that is very difficult to polish. All sales across every brand are down 30% plus YOY. What you will start seeing is people hauling 2 yards of dirt in Mavericks, with the license plate scraping the ground, and the hubs crying for dear life. Although thank you Ford for keeping the column shifters on the " will actually be used as a truck" editions of the 150. Ford may even start selling cars in North America again, just to have an economical option. The 80's are back folks.

    I have to disagree.
    I think the neon/yellow accent on the fender looks really cool, especially with the gray/silver metallic. Gives the STX trim that sporty look that Ford was going for.
    I think this STX and even the base XL are the best value F-150’s available. And nicely equipped for such low end trims. Btw, get the 5.0 Coyote V8 while you still can because before too long, you’ll have to step up to a Super Duty if you still want V8 power. (Hopefully I’m wrong.)

      Naturally aspirated engine is what you want for longevity and reliability. That V8 engine is tried and true, turbos start to fail around 140k.

    I have a 97 regular cab with 6.5 bed with 4.6 V-8 in Lariet trim; 108K mi with rebuilt front end, new brakes and tires all around. It runs great with dual exhaust; it doesn't burn or leak oil.
    I love the new trucks with all the bells and whistles, but I might drive 3K mi/yr doing odd things around the house during the year. So, the rational to sell my current truck to buy this or the XL model just isn't there for me.

    I’m not sure I like the owners manual built in. What happens when you need to access the manual and you can’t turn on the truck plus if you’re looking up something for under the hood and your manual is on the screen inside the truck that means you have to keep going back and forth from the engine to the cab to look at the manual. That’s a dumb feature on Ford’s part

    This truck stickers for over $50k USD but no one actually pays that much. Even in Canada if you shop around its not hard to find a deal for 20% off MSRP or more. Back in 2020 I purchased my Lariat for $20k off list. Great truck but looking to get something smaller now.

    I do not care for the digital display at all and what the heck, that could never be a nice ranch truck. I always jump in with the door open to just move my vehicles around and stuff. This new safety tech is just ridiculous. Guess I'm going to have to suck it up and keep the old 01 and 77 running.
