What a crazy history this game has and this is fantastic coverage into this game!
I remember seeing SDBZ in a game magazine. I saved money and did chores to get it. Unlocked all the characters, made multiple “lists” and kept some free for friends. Brought it to multiple friend outings for it to be dismissed in 30 mins for tenkaichi 😢😢😢
I remember finding a copy of this at a Gamestop in like 2006 and thinking it was a bootleg since I hadn't seen ANY advertising for it, unlike the Budokais and Tenkaichi at the time.

As someone currently living in Japan and who occasionally drops by Big One 2nd gamecenter in Saitama (at least two hours away from me), it's truly impressive to see the passionate turn out for this 15+ year old (niche) fighting game. Props to kabe and the community.

Yoooo this is hype! Good shit with the video. I remember as a kid playing SDBZ and telling myself "What a new dbz game I've never heard or played before? LETS FUFING GO" I thought the game was so cool and sadly had to sell it off. But SDBZ is something special that I won't forget anytime soon to it's graphics, unquie gameplay, and other features.
great job covering Super DBZ. SDBZ's too much fun, so ill keep supporting it however i can.
also i have the hardware for the arcade system and cards, so hopefully ill be able to help someone with R&D knowledge to develop a solution.

Really nicely done, coming from the Tenkaichi community here I love Super DBZ and wanted some more insight into the game. This video was a good start!

You should definitely try! I certainly didn’t do competitive Tenkaichi justice, and I’d personally love to see a dive into the history of the game’s scene and what makes it tick :)

It's great to see people talk about this game. There was almost no advertisement for it back in the day.
I think the port held it back. It didn't have a lot of content and you had to grind for mechanics that should've been available from the start. It doesn't help the playebase was spoiled by Tenkaichi which had 90 characters including fusions and transformations.
