I just discovered this pianist. Is it normal to watch her videos over and over again, obsessively? I'm deeply in awe of her artistic performance on these Beethoven Sonatas.
Valentina Lisitsa’s playing allowed me to enjoy Beethoven. Before her I thought it was too bombastic. With her gentle transitions finally I see the genius.
I love how Beethoven baits us twice about the recapitulation : 3:20 "ok the first theme comes back, the end comes soon" 3:26 "nah actually it's more development" 4:13 "ok NOW it's the recapitulation." 4:20 "see? it's the whole theme this time" ... 4:27 "or is it ?" 4:37 "MORE DEVELOPMENT"
If you know beethoven a little, you can tell when is a recapitulation and when not, because beethoven tends to do an intense dominant or subdominant harmony before.
The ground theme is amazing, he couldn't have left it out only for beginning, end, and central 10-13 second development. The whole piece is built upon it, changing it up, but it flows so perfectly, he couldn't have possibly not done what he has with it.
I learned to play this piece but I did not like it much until I heard this rendition by Valentina Lisitsa. Now that I know what it is supposed to sound like, I love it and I am inspired to practice more.
I have watched Valentina's videos for years, and they never fail to bring tears to my eyes. The lightness and grace with which she plays is one of a kind. I have loved Beethoven since childhood; in my first few years, I'm told, I would cry if my parents played me any other music. And when I heard Valentina play his music in adulthood, I thought: "This is how these songs are supposed to be played. This is what Beethoven meant when he wrote these notes." Truly amazing, Valentina Lisitsa.
When I was younger me and other piano students always used to listen to Lisitsa's playing ,every time we searched up a piece we were currently studying ,Lisitsa would pop up the first . Nowadays it doesnt show up that much (so youtube should do a better job!) , but yeah she became our role model (she still is)
I don't know why emotions are stirred so deeply when I listen to her I think it's because I'm so proud of humanity for creating music like this it brings tears to my eyes

A statement so unreasonably broad not to be considered seriously, unless a thorough list of the names of all other possible performers can be submitted.
В самом деле буря. Почти уверен, что Бетховен такое и задумывал. Почему большинство современных исполнителей делают из этого собирание цветочков в саду? Стихию можно ощутить на старых записях, но они настолько некачественные, что трудно слушать.

One of the keys to playing this correctly, and she does it to perfection and beyond, is ensure that you are playing in 3/8 time as written and not feeling it like 2/4 time in triplets. This is accomplished by placing a slight accent on the 3rd beat of each 3/8 measure which is more difficult to do than falling into the triplet trap.
Ms. Lisitsa is one of the great Beethoven interpreters of our day. I think was she was greatly influenced by Sviatoslav Richter's playing. Her performance combines strength, power, and lyricism- an artistic feat.

When I die, May my soul float gently with this sound, May my memories sway. May the silence be tangled with harmonious strings, And the truth I uncover profound. May the Lord watch over the ones that I've left, May the years reward them with love. May this music remind us to live everyday, and not waste our time on regret. May you open your arms like the wings of a bird, And embrace those with anger and fear And whisper I love you to those who will hurt you, For thats just what they've needed to hear. When I die, I hope that you've read this.... And realise I wrote it for you, I hope that this music brings us back together, After our time here is through. If all of the rivers meet at the ocean, Then I promise I'll never despair, For music is liquid and even in darkness it carries me home to you there....
Music is truly another dimension in and of itself. This genius completes the picture of human intelligence. Take the work of the composer, add to it the skills of the people who created the instrument, bring in an artist who masters the first two and "wa la" a recipe for magnificance. Thank you Valentina !

May the years reward them with love.
May this music remind us to live everyday,
and not waste our time on regret.
May you open your arms like the wings of a bird,
And embrace those with anger and fear
And whisper I love you to those who will hurt you,
For thats just what they've needed to hear.
When I die,
I hope that you've read this....
And realise I wrote it for you,
I hope that this music brings us back together,
After our time here is through.
If all of the rivers meet at the ocean,
Then I promise I'll never despair,
For music is liquid and even in darkness it carries me home to you there....
No words. Thank you for these storm of emotions
Music is truly another dimension in and of itself. This genius completes the picture of human intelligence. Take the work of the composer, add to it the skills of the people who created the instrument, bring in an artist who masters the first two and "wa la" a recipe for magnificance. Thank you Valentina !
This is the best interpretation of the piece I've ever heard
This is my favorite version, what a fiery performance
Изумительно! Бетховена в исполнении Валентины хочется слушать бесконечно!!!
Спустя семь лет вспомнил про это исполнение - и снова был очарован. Бесподобно...
This is so wonderful. I keep going back to it to have another listen.
I've listened to it dozens of times. Love it!!!
J’ai souvent du mal à aller jusqu’au bout des musiques sur RUclips mais avec cette interprétation magique et ce si beau morceau je n’ai pas réussi à arrêter avant la fin ❤❤
There is no life without music ❤️
My favourite interpretation of my favourite piece from my favourite classical composer
Absolute perfection! I nearly cried from how moving this piece was!!! Barenboim did NOTHING to me with this piece and yet Valentina made me cry when she performed it! THE POWER OF MUSIC IS INFLUENCIAL AND VALENTINA CAPTURED THAT ESSENCE!!! Beautiful! Breathtaking! Stunning!! 😍😭😍😭😍😭
I'm into progressive metal, and noticed a lot of similarities between it and classical music. I now like both!
That's great. Imagine only liking one. You have the best of both.
Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Welcome to enlightenment my friend 🙏
Yeah I'm not really into metal but love metal arrangements of classical songs. Dr. Viossy's Paganini Caprice No. 24 is a fine example. Let's headbang on my friend!
L'ascolto 1000 volte al giorno
Suonata da TE è paradisiaca
GRAZIE Valentina carissima e
Meravigliosa . Un abbraccione
@giuliacantelli: Also very similar you'd also like Chopin's Fantaisie Impromptu. Very identical type piano playing. Let me know if you agree after listening to that piano piece.
There is nothing wrong with you Paul Simenson. I have been obsessed by Valentina Lisitsa's pianistic brilliance for years. She makes it look so easy but trust me she works like crazy to enhance her God-given gifts. Obsess on!
Like Pollinni she hits the right notes for a start and she does it in a very musical way. Its the natural flow that I like in her performance. Thank you You made my day
Flow is coming with passion❤️nothing perfect on this earth is made without passion, specially in music🙏
This is amazing. Can’t stop listening to this masterpiece!
Simply amazing!! The skill, the emotion, the passion, everything is there and in abundance. Wow!
Perfect control, in a superhero/supervillain style, you are starting a cult, Valentina! And we shall follow!
