Dodge wasn't even playing with the A-990 program. That's one of the most hardcore pieces of automotive pornography ever unleashed by an auto manufacturer. Thanks for sharing it with us my friend.
I first saw the A990 Super Stock Automatic Dodge and a similar Plymouth run in the spring of 1965. After watching the Max Wedges run, the Race Hemi was so much faster. I can still see 2 of them race at the old Alton Dragway in Alton, Illinois. It was the Frawley Dodge vs El Toro, which is still racing today. They both ran low 11s @128 mph, times and speeds I had never seen Super Stock cars run before.
Look it up , A990 Mopar , had like a seven foot trunk because the rear end was moved up under the car for weight transfer. Factory MOPAR A/FX car , super rare!
@@buildzmodz3871 Only on paper. The 390 hp rating was for only 3,200 rpm and the torgue curve didn't quit till 5,200 rpm. I had mine dyno'd at Renton Vocational Tech after I did the heads and it had over 650 hp. I took it to S.I.R after that and turned a 10:93 at 133mph, Not bad for back in 1973.
@@robertsnyder5149 yeah that was also something I forgot to add, I had have no clue what you have done to yours so yes your correct, I see smaller engines with either less volume or less flow make more power thank a bigger liter engine but it goes both ways. Like the gutless 454 only made like 30hp more than the 350 (Stock) also depends on the application, gearing, weight, traction ect
Beautiful car my favorite mopar nice drive everybody is so fuckin crazy they have to see it burnin rubber I don’t have to see I know what that car will do good video
Scared I’d love to drive that car I don’t know what your scared of a car is a car it’s not like it’s a pro mod it would be great to drive I’ve had 440s no different than any other car except you would be proud to drive it unlike the shit they build today beautiful my favorite body style
that's the slowest ride i've ever had to witness boy did that suck wow no finding a close secluded street and show everybody what it can do take it off and put a new video showing you planting it too the floor please.
You should've let me drive it. Ain't scared, and I can handle a man trans without using a clutch........hehehe..... If ya gonna be afraid, put a 318 back in and save your nerves🤣
That is a very disgraceful ride! It looks like Southern Ontario, outside of the London area. That's what it looks like to me and these two have the right accent to be from around that area. Nice set of wheels! Didn't us old guys have hot wheels that looked like that? A 65 or 66 race hemi in a what? Belvedere? Higgy would be proud!!!
Being a gearhead I couldn't resist clicking on this video. The problem is, I'm a "anything but Mopar fan" so every time I click on a Mopar video like this, You Tube loads up my suggestions with Mopar stuff. So l gave the video a thumbs down for no other reason than the hope that doing so will put a stop to the unwanted suggestions. Could I be a closet Mopar fan? 🤔
I think you need to see a psychiatrist. They will help you sort out your mixed feelings ... the repressed affection for Chrysler and its muscle cars, your newfound addiction to Hemi videos, and more! Now, on another note, how would you describe your childhood? 😅😅👍 Jk ... I hope you're okay with a little playful banter!
Not sure, about you being a closet Mopar guy but, definitely a closet blue oval guy!! Lol Honestly, having a AMC myself, I think one has to be a closet Blue Oval, and Mopar and GM Motors fan soon as they decide to build an AMC engine realizing AMC seem to borrowed a little bit from each manufacture!
Brings back REAL memories from 40 years ago. 426 Hemis are BRUTAL.

What an amazing machine
Love how those coronets just float down the road like riding on a bed of air

I meant a990 A/FX
What like the sound of a race hemi. It is impressive for 55 year old technology.
Nothin sounds as good as a hemi, thanks for that sound bite
Fersher
Damn this car is loud. Watching this a t 1 am, I had to put it on pause so I wouldn''t wake up my roomates.
Nice car. When it's broken in you'll have to make a video of a full-throttle run.
If you are afraid of that, you would have had a coronary in my 70 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Six-pak. It ean high 10's at SIR in Kent.
Let's go for ride Robert.
The 426 made more power than the 440 six pack tho... n this one doesn't look stock

darren brisson lol
Crimson that's not how you break in a new engine and it something was done wrong it wouldn't make a difference anyway. I agree with Darren
Exactly! Very big letdown. Why the hell he didn't show us what these cars were made to do is beyond me.
You should've let me drive it. Ain't scared, and I can handle a man trans without using a clutch........hehehe.....

Unless something is stinking... put that dang hood on while you drive!!!!!😳

@@dinojay8410 You're right, I probably do need to seek professional help. Problem is finding someone who specializes in repressed Mopar/Hemi issues.
