On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 8-2-21.
We're looking at a 1965 Dodge Coronet in Silver Paint. The car comes with the 426 CI V8 “Race Hemi” engine.
The car's Owner is Russ Toms. Russ has had this car since 2013. Russ shared this was one Fast Car in 1965, and thought it would be a good idea to own one, and he shares, it’s pretty good on the street too.
ENJOY! Авто/Мото
That thing is insane! Back when Mopar absolutely dominated drag racing. I love it! Thanks for showing this one.
Hi Steve, "That thing is insane!" Just the way we like it :-) You're welcome, Lou
Thanks for the Great ride !! more smiles per mile
My pleasure sharing this ride with you, and you're welcome SuperJoes70 :-)
Hello, Lou......If you remember, I am the HEMI nut from Northern New Jersey.....All I can say is " Now you are talkin'". I would be very happy if one day I could once again own a HEMI.......... Hello, Russ. Thank you for taking such good care of your MAJESTIC 65 A990.....I could breath the exhaust from this car and pass away happy......All kidding aside, tribute or not it is a monster. Super high compression, monster cam and don't forget a cross ram with two holleys on top...When these beasts were tuned right and that light went green, just punch it and hang on while it takes you way down in the 10 second bracket. I think I just died and went to heaven.........Thank you, Men !
Hello Charlie, Happy to read "Now you are talkin" :-) My pleasure sharing this one with you. You're welcome, Lou
My first car was a 65 Coronet. It was by far the most fun and enjoyable car I have ever owned. Brought back many memories. Thanks for the post.
Hi Mojorisen, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your 1st fun & enjoyable car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
One word: Yes!
Nice !
Another prime example of the ultimate Factory Race built by the Master himself Bob Mosher. There ia nothing like the sound of a Race Hemi. My Superstock Plymouth was a 4 year build & the enjoyment was only exceded everytime I turn the key & step on the gas. Thanks Lou for sharing yours.
Hi RaceHemi, Sounds like you have a fun car :-) My pleasure sharing. If you type into RUclips search "My Car Story with Lou Hemi" I think you'll see many cars you'll enjoy, Lou
A super pleasure to drive
Seems like a fun car to drive.
When the hood is lifted that 426 presents itself like few cars I've seen! Pure super stock with an exhaust beat that's all cam and compression. The Real Deal. Thanks Lou!
Hi Tom, Happy to share this car with you :-) You're welcome, Lou
That was my impression as well. The engine dominates the view without looking absurd.
Very nice Dodge Lou. I love it.
Hi Ollie, Happy to read you "love it" :-) Lou
amazing piece of americana. and no push-buttons.

Lou, u keep out doing urself, that coronet is to die for. I'd be upside down in a ditch the first time I floored it, this episode made me grin from ear to ear.
Hi Jeff, Happy to read I'm trying to out do myself in an effort to leave a historical legacy of these great cars, Lou
That all business Hemi sound!!
Sounds just the way we like it :-)
That car is perfect. Love cars with no air-conditioning or power steering just bare-bones simplicity.
High praise :-)
Apparently this guy loves race bred cars. A very cool collection
Happy to share Russ's car with you :-)

Those Torqueflite Mopar trannies we're indestructible!!.
My Dad's 68 383 RR had one...
HI Thomas, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Dad's car :-) Lou
I knew Bob Mosher when I lived out west , I sold him parts for some of the older cars he was building . he is/was a good guy and knew so much about the Superstock Mopars , he built a lot of sweet Superstock clones .
Hi Ted, Thank you for viewing and sharing :-) Lou
When he steps on the gas, it's like hearing Jimi Hendrix playing his Stratocaster through his Marshall amps. It's primal scream therapy!!!
There's all kinds of music in this world, and that Hemi plays it's own special brand of Rock and Roll!!
Everybody who lived in those days misses them, and kids can only imagine and wonder what it was like.
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary.
For those who don't,
none is possible.
Hi jpalberthoward9, High praise on the sounds from this car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your thoughts. Hope you see many more cars on this RUclips Channel you enjoy. Please subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this RUclips Channel, Lou

Awesome 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 car
NICE !
What and incredible car Lou. I love those Hemi
I like those Hemi's too Norm :-)
All the factory deletes and still more luxurious than cars from the Eastern Block. Anyway this is madness, street legal dragstrip Coronet with "salami" tires in the rear. The only thing missing is a parachute 😅 The old Dodge logos above the front lights are unique, but it makes logic...2 Dodge brother thus 2 Dodge logos 😉
The look under the hood is some serious business. Jay Leno himself would drool over it!! And that unholy sound. This must be fun, when Russ rolls up next to a tuner at a red light. "Who did you say owns this street?"
The shifting pattern makes perfect sense, when explained why. Everything is focused at being light and fast 😀
Thank you Lou.
Hi Cheeky Demon, High praise :-) Thanks for sharing the details you enjoy, and you're welcome, Lou
I would drive to this to work everyday awesome car want to own one so bad
NICE !

"Kinda zoomie" was the expression for a fast cool car back in the day. A really nice example of when cars were real.
Hi Chris, Happy to read you enjoy this nice example of a "Kinda zoomie" car :-) Lou

Wow, did not expect that much speed and axel!
Happy to receive a "Wow" from you :-)
Old Mopars never die, they just go faster!!! This one wears the "Fratzog" proudly and is an excellent tribute to the factory Super Stock cars of the day!!! Beautiful in silver and red and the beast under the hood is the icing on the cake!!!
Remember, the Little Ol Lady From Pasadena drove a Super Stock Dodge!!!
Hi Hobiemarty, Ahhh lot's of fun in your through out your comment, and happy to share this one with you :-) Lou
Sweet car

That thing is a NASA rocket ride Lou! Sit down, strap in, hold on! Bah-rutal!

Hi James, Happy to share this "music to my ears" moment with you :-) Lou

Lou, you immediately turned 16 yrs old, when he got on the go pedal. What a fantastic beast. Those wacky Chrysler engineers really knew what they were doing. The silver and red is a stunning combo. thanks again for sharing all these incredible cars with us.
P.S. Russ showing his age a bit, but he also turns into a teenager, behind the wheel. We need more young people in the hobby, to carry these torches, when guys like Russ are gone.
JT: Orlando, FLA

Hi R Troxel, Happy to read you enjoy this car. Good idea on the mic, however my camera does not have the remote mic option. You're welcome, Lou
Wow, what a car and what an engine that you feature Lou! The '65 Dodge Coronet looks and sounds fantastic. There's nothing that sounds pure power than a 426 race Hemi engine! As usual thank you for posting another one of your excellent Mopar videos too!

Hi Mouse, Happy to receive a "WOW" from you :-) My pleasure sharing this car with you, and you're welcome, Lou
Lou, what you have doe is really incredible. I think you have created the best historical record of American cars from the 40’s to the 80’s in existence. I’ve learned so much more than I previously knew by going through your videos. Those 4 decades were much more amazing than I knew and I’ve always loved cars. I believe there was something very special about the American psyche that was reflected in the automobiles they designed and built in that era. The contrast between those beautiful cars and the plain, anonymous cars of today is what strikes me the most. You’ve done a great job Lou.
Hi Orwellknew911, Happy to read your comment as 1 of my 2 goals is to leave a legacy of these great cars. The other goal is HAVE FUN :-) Thank you for the kind comment and encouraging words, Lou
M.O.P.A.R.👍👍

What a totally awesome car! Surprised at you Lou! There's no such thing as giving a little exceleration with that car!
H Jeffery, High praise. Even a little acceleration is ALOT :-) Lou
A legendary Mopar Beast!!.. Ive built a 1/25 65 Coronet Convertible Street Wedge kit by Pilar Lights and it's in my model kit collection....
Polar Lights.. typo.. fat fingers 😆!!
Hi Thomas, Happy to read you enjoy this "legendary Mopar Beast!!" :-) Lou
Another great video Lou. I bet you had fun riding in that car. My Uncle has a 1963 Plymouth Fury Max Wedge clone car. It's a blast to ride in, those headers on my Uncle's sure are loud though.
Hi PlymouthDuster225, Yes, lots of FUN with this car :-) Happy to read this one brings back memories of your Uncles car. Lou
Stunning car!! A local man to the Gatineau Quebec(other side of the river from Ottawa, Ontario Canada) had a real one that he raced and street drove till the mid 80's then got sold to the US. Real reason for the reverse shift pattern is for when racing you are moving the shifter AWAY from neutral and reverse, two gears you DON'T want to shift to when racing.
Hi Raymond Pauze, Happy to read you enjoy this "Stunning car!!" :-) Thank you for sharing your knowledge too, Lou
At the time these cars were not the fanciest, not that sporty looking, usually a very plain interior but nothing but raw Mopar power. These cars were monsters and a crucial part of the muscle-car era. Lou what a great find and a perfect example of pure Mopar power.👌👍
Hi Steve V, My pleasure sharing this "Mopar power" with you :-) Lou
I love the beautiful simplicity of this beast. Wow what a great Mopar!
Hi Bill, Happy to share this "Beast" with you :-) Lou
Incredible hell Mopar... The '65 Dodges and Plymouths A990 Lightweight - a true drag terror! Awesome ride. Thanks for that beast, Lou.
Hi Plymouth Die-Cast Replicas, Happy to share this "drag terror!" with you. You're welcome, Lou
I don't know that you could call a race hemi a sleeper. But, as long as it was not idling, you might be able to sucker in some Chevy guy. Awsome ride.
Hi Greg, Maybe a conversation in a parking lot before you start it up :-) Lou
