  • My sons Razor Electric scooter was rarely used whem he 1st got it , he just was not keen on it, but 15 months on he wanted to use it and guess what , it would not work.
    after some basic investigating, and the simple fact the scooter had not got wet or physically damaged the most likely culprit was the batteries.
    I made some more checks and took the chance to buy some new batteries from E-bay and this is the end result. A totally perfect working scooter and a happy son again, one problem is the wife now wants one as well, LOL

    Hi I've got about 8 of those batteries and non would charge and had no charge in them at all so I got some distilled water and an old car battery which I could unscrew to get to the liquid I used a medical barrel syringe 2ml. opened up the battery and put 1 an half barrels into each compartment in the scooter battery then I topped each compartment up with distilled water put it back together and streight away they have charge in them I put them on charge and bingo they all work perfect like new.

    They are not super tightly enclosed in that thing but the thing with dry batteries like that is they tend to overheat, expand and eventually melt or light on fire and burn houses down when being charged. The type of batteri you put in a scooter isn't just formfactor is also a lot of other things. The cheap scooter things doesn't always have a propper overcharge protection so it'll overload the batteries if they are just a tiny bit off spec (which they become from normal use) and that's double odds for starting a fire.

      The factory batteries charger does stop when charged , the issue was they died , probably over winter and frost got to them. They weren't swelled or damaged. Looked completley perfect tbh. But i do get what you mean

    • @Beyondact
      @Beyondact 4 года назад

      @@DannyDashcam The stop when charged is on cheap chargers just a "What is the charge on the batteri" gage that doesn't take anything non spec in to consideration. If you are lucky since your old batteries seem fine you could revive them, there are a few videos out there on how to do that. There are a lot of the cheap chargers in the EU because the VA certificate for a charger can be gotten for all the separate parts which are made in China and then imported and assembled inside the EU, I know the US has the same issue with E cig's which luckily doesn't burn down houses that often because the batteri doesn't have the volume to do it, they usually stop working or semi melt during use.

      @@Beyondact these batteries are dead . I linked them individually to my 12v motorbike safety charger and it wasnt reading them at 1st when it did, it only put a tiny amount of power into them. They're scrap lol.

      Most any company these days producing anything with a rechargeable battery should by now supply a charger that automatically trickle charges. This is the 21st century if they don’t they shouldn’t be in business anymore. ( trickle charge means that it has a small brain in the charger saying “quit charging this battery it is fully charged!”

    • @Beyondact
      @Beyondact 3 года назад +1

      @@Yyyyyy5 Good chargers are supplied by all companies that make the product. And then there are the idiots that buy some cheap made in china which going by the amount of cellphone chargers of that type being sold is mostly any one that can be one those idiots.

    Pretty much same batteries in mobility scooters. I upgraded my mums mobility scooter batteries about a year ago. Went for slightly higher ma hours. Works for much longer now and got more power.

      Good stuff , these had great reviews and were listed for loads.of type of uses including stair lifts and mobility scooters ,these were slightly more from 6Ah to 7Ah . My son has used it for 3 days now and it still doesn't need charging. So far so good.

    those lucas batteries are used as backup power supply in a lot of commercial fire alarm systems. if you know someone who services these, they routinely replace these batteries. the ones they remove are not dud just past their service date,so still ok. they just junk them!

    my boys haven't used theirs for a while, a good charge sorted one but the 2nd scooter wont run, if i spin the back wheel and turn throttle the rear wheel engages but put it on the ground and it stops and tips.

      Swap the battery from the good one , if it works then you just need a new battery 👍

      Ive no idea, just measure the size of the battery for fitment , and the voltage for comparison. Of the same then i dont see why not.

    Hi do these Lucas batteries fit properly I’ve measured the depth of the original batteries and they are 50mm but looking at these Lucas ones are 65mm there doesn’t look to be enough room for thicker batteries under the deck? Any info would be grateful for thanks

    • @DannyDashcam
      @DannyDashcam  2 года назад

      Hi Sam, my batteries were thicker like you say but I made them fit.
      I think the reason wasn't couldn't find some the same width so gambled on these.
      What I will add is the fact that the scooter is still working like new since I repaired it and my son still uses it regularly.
      I hope you manage to fix yours , the main issue was we couldn't use the seat attachment once I'd fixed it because of the thicker batteries.

    A co worker is going to give me his scooter that he never used but he said it’s not working. From what he told me he said he plugged it in to charge but it shorted out or something and now it doesn’t charge. So I’m going to see if I can figure out what’s wrong with it and hopefully fix it so I can use that to go to work

    • @DannyDashcam
      @DannyDashcam  4 года назад +1

      have a go , theres very few parts to them and all available to buy. there is a trip switch if motor gets over loaded but you can bypass it so if thats the fault its a free and easy fix.

    Do you realise you didnt seal the battery connections - your scooter could turn into an arc welder if the rain/water gets in the front wire hole/breather riding in wet weather....

      It doesn't get used in the wet, its as sealed as it was from factory.
