As suggested in the video 🙌 We've had no issues with the Portal and that includes connecting outside and using remote play to the console. Works a treat. Also enjoying Sunday morning gaming session in bed with the Portal. Great device
So many people out here talking bad about this device🤦🏾♂️. I got an easy fix for all y’all just don’t buy it. Cause 99% of the people talking down on it, don’t even own one but have everything to say🤷🏾♂️
Lol I had been talking shit just because I couldn't get one.....that was until yesterday. I randomly managed ro get the last one in anaheim at a best buy. Can't wait
A very informative video for the Portal, thank you! Can't wait to set ours up and test it out everywhere I can. Such a cool little device to have in the arsenal!
Will I have trouble if my console isn’t hardwired? My modem doesn’t even sit close to my console for me to hardwire it. I’m tempted to get the portal, but this is my only concern
You shouldn't do as long as your console is connected via 5Ghz to your router. In all our tests during this video our PS5 wasn't hardwired. It was and still is just connected via Wi-Fi 5Ghz
The biggest concern I have is the latency, given internet in Australia isn't the fastest when compared with many other mature markets like the US or many places in Asia. Have you tried playing some of the heavy games (such as Spiderman, Tekken, shooting/driving games, etc) in a separate room away from the console? How was the latency when you aren't sitting right next to the console (in a different room/floor)?
I've covered all of this in the video 🙌 We tested this with heavy games and like Spiderman 2, God of War Ragnarok and online MP game Call of Duty. It performed well with no issues. If you set up your home Wi-Fi as we've suggested in the video and set your PS5 / Portal to the 5Ghz band you'll be fine. Any questions let us know
Yeah the main thing here is your home wifi connection, internet connection (which is slower in Australia) shouldn't really impact it. If you get a gaming router or something with WiFi 6 and do 5ghz like the review says, you should be totally fine. I know I am.
Great video, guys! I haven't even bought a PS5, I'm still plugging away on the PS4 Pro and don't yet feel compelled to upgrade, but it's interesting watching Sony revisit this handheld space (even if it's not Vita 2). There are indie developers still producing new games for the Vita out there, and PSPs have become collectible in some spaces, I'm curious if Sony might re-enter the handheld space to compete with Switch 2?
I think watch this space. Perhaps they will revisit the PSP or Vita era at some point. As a collector of the older handhelds from Sony I must say I welcome anything they would release. The screen quality is something I've always loved from Sony devices personally, so the more the merrier in the way of handheld devices. I still rock my PS4 too. Love the console! - Em
@@TeamRetro It would be cool to see a video highlighting some of the advances Sony made in that space, maybe comparing your PSP/Vita collection to the Nintendo counterpart rivals?
It's an excellent idea for sure. The PSP at the time was such an advancement IMO than anything else I'd previously owned so I have a soft spot for it 😉 - Em
I don't know if it's just me but the screen comes across a little washed out or blury kind of look or it could be the power wave screen protector gives it a mirror finish which is bad for outside play they need an anti glare one
Do you mean watching the video or in person you feel it's washed out? It looks insanely crisp and I've just finished playing TLOUPart 2 for a few hours this morning. Outside with any handheld I've found hard to film. Perhaps an anti-glare protector is a great idea not sure if there is one yet out. I also ordered a carry case but they don't seem to be in stock anywhere yet
Oh, really must be just me then or my eyes, lol . Yea, I got the power wave screen protector and carry case, but the case has a strong smell to it thinking of taking it back
It’s a prefect device that does what it’s designed to do very good. And about the Bluetooth this ain’t nothing new🤦🏾♂️. For someone that travels a lot and been using remote play for years. The portal is a device I didn’t know I needed💯. Love it💯✊🏾💯
I had previously bought an AYN Odin for remote play and found that I played my PS5 so much more than before. Just got my portal and LOVE it. It's great when you kinda just want to veg and watch TV, but want to play PS5 at the same time.. Now you can do both!
My best advice is to split your home wifi into 2.4 and 5ghz, connect everything else onto 2.4 and leave just your portal/ps5 on 5ghz...
As suggested in the video 🙌 We've had no issues with the Portal and that includes connecting outside and using remote play to the console. Works a treat.

Lol they suggested that
Got mine yesterday and it’s been flawless. I’m loving it. Great informative video for people thinking of getting one!
Great to hear and thanks for watching
I have one and have no big complaints. Love it and have been using it almost daily. Just wish we could also stream music while playing.
Great to hear!

Tip. Try putting games in performance mode when playing on the portal. Game changer
Definitely a great tip also! Thank you for your comment 🙌😊

As a Remote Play - Player I knew you'd like this device. It's cool, sleek and the LCD pops. Let me know how you go with setup over on Insta - Em
Fantastic review! Thanks for stepping through the process on how to connect 🙌🏻 I get to pick mine up tomorrow 😍🎉
Awesome! You'll enjoy your unit. The screen is really incredible it looks better in person than on film you'll love it
Just got mine thanks Em
Awesome Dan! I hope you enjoy it as much as we have. Thanks for watching
I really should catch up with this new world. So many cool things being released.
It's a neat accessory if you have a PS5
Impressive and in-depth video guys ❤ Still bummed about no Bluetooth
Thank you for watching we appreciate it. No Bluetooth I hope isn't a deal breaker for some. The pros outweigh the cons for sure
Thanks for sharing your honesty about the PS Portal 😊
Thank you Steve for watching - Em
Awesome informative vid, Em! Super detailed and will be a great resource to get the most out of the device 💙
Thanks for tuning in!

Mine isn't hard-wired, I've had no issues since splitting modem into 2.4ghz AND 5ghz and ONLY using 5ghz for PS5/portal
Thanks for sharing your feedback as well on your Wi-fi 🙌
for best connection .let the ps5 on wired Internet cable .no WiFi. and ur ps portal on 5ghz WiFi.zero complain at all after.. that
Awesome cant wait to get one
Awesome Maggie you'll love yours! Any questions on setup message on Instagram were happy to help

@@TeamRetro yea got from ebgames I've seen online that they still got stock same with jbhifi
Can this work on a 10mb network speed?
Some of us are in remote regions
Outside your house potentially not but inside on your home network it could work. I'd follow from the timestamp at 3:10 on the video.
I at moment are living at my brother home and i get good wireless wifi but my room is to far to hard wire my ps5 is it still worth getting it or not
Do a speed test on your PS5 and if it's above the minimum requirements that PlayStation recommends then it should be fine. Happy gaming!
Wonder how much mine is worth.
They sold out in a few regions I've just found out. Is that the case for where you are?
Portal is no good…waste of money. Should’ve made stand alone system this day n age for it to not have Bluetooth, 🤦🏽♂️no

Just wondering if you've used one or had one in your hands yet? Side note using a wired headset isn't the end of the world.
