Thank you for making these videos. I’ve been watching and rewatching since 2017? I enjoy them so much. Love seeing all of your finds. Appreciate the tips and everything. I’m going for the very first time next year and cannot wait to hear the HardOff music in person!
Thank you so much. I love making them and I have a few planned. They aren't overly edited because I get back so late of a night so I hope you enjoy the raw videos 🙏
Great to see the return of these though I do miss you going through them in more details on the shelves lol . Great deal on the famicom disc games I've just started on that collection now this year
I've grabbed some things before on older videos: PS1 memory card that was the 10 Million for $50, Lawson's GameBoy Color $100 and I think I've picked up a game or two. Overall it is super expensive 🫰 it's just the place everyone still wants to see 🤗 I personally prefer Hard Off or Book Off stores outside the city. More of those videos are to come
Haha thank you! Yeah for sure. I've just filmed the pickups / home now video and talk about it. In this vid I promised to do an unboxing as I have NO idea still what condition the console is in lol! ~ Emily
The only thing I buy from super potato is box protectors. Are you going to suragaya flagship store in shizuoka by the train station? That was an amazing store and would be my first stop on any future japan trip. It's huuuuuuge and has new old stock in right now. Games are 3rd floor.
@@TeamRetro if memory serves correct they have harmful park. I ran out of money in this store before I even had a chance to see everything. I bought a minty bucky o hare and rockman fc boxed complete which wiped me out. Prices are better than akiba and the selection is incredible. You also have lots of space like a premium shopping experience it's not cramped.
@@TeamRetro not really. 100k at a guess. I've watched 2 or 3 videos since I was there and so much has already changed. I cannot promise you'll get amazing deals but they will be better than akiba abd you'll see a lot of games. you'll get a lot of clicks on your channel. You can trust me, I'm the guy you met in the lift in August 2023 in suragaya shinjuku. Richard. I had harmful park in 2002, sold it 200 usd. Story of my life.
@@atomiswave1971 hey Richard great to see you commenting here! And it was so lovely to meet you last year. I couldn't get to the store today after investigating it will take some time for us to travel there. If we can on the weekend we will do our best to head there. Ahhh Harmful Park that sucks 😞 I still haven't played it - I'm waiting for the time I own it haha. Em
It's a shock! But there are times you can spot a bargain. The Suragaya store next to Beep is currently the best value in Akihabara. There is also the newly updated Trader store which is a few levels that could potentially have a bargain. Stores I didn't bother to film (and not permitted) like Mandarake are just too expensive but the product is too notch quality.
Well Japanese people do not really go to other countries to buy games, so games that foreigners take out of the country are pretty much out of Japan for good. Decreasing stock plus more foreign demand (plus the Akihabara tourist location tax) means higher prices. Games that are considered common are now in glass cases because stores have nothing better to put in them.
What a surprise, with new video😃😜 It was so long time since, you upload a long video🤔!!! Can you do a full update gameroom tour, when you got time again????? Regards Mark, from Denmark
Hey Mark! I've been uploading more reviews lately and we recently spent a lot of time re arranging the room. I'll work on that new video in the coming months as it will be hilarious to think where I'll put the new stuff I've purchased 😂
Evening Emily how are you? Love seeing that beautiful smile across your cute face here! 🥰Hope your having fun there in Japan & I wish you've picked up Metal Slug Complete which has a great collection of all the old Metal Slug games of the past. Wish SNK would release Metal Slug 8 by now but only time will tell! Hope you picked up more bloody awesome games there in Japan! ❤
How do you know what you're looking for if the covers and text are all in Japanese? With certain consoles being region-free now, I always like to dig in those game stores but don't want to pull a game I wouldn't enjoy. Curious if you're doing something magical that I'm not doing outside of searching games ahead of time. Great video!
I can read certain characters and I do look for select things on the spines. I talk about that in the video I shot yesterday when looking for DS games. I try to pass on as much knowledge with my hunting as I can 🙏🙏 I always look ahead of time and games I would love to buy I save a search or watch one on eBay. just so I can memorise the characters and of course check that it is a good deal.
I don't disagree with you there. I think playing those RPGs would be a great way to learn though which is something in the future I plan on doing. I tend to purchase games (unless collecting the series like FF7) that are platformers, puzzle, mini games etc. There are so many amazing Japanese exclusives that never made it to Australia so I'm loving picking up those ones
this 1st hardoff you went to is the worst hardoff anyone can go to, completely empty of anything good, totally ripped, it's the 1st store every single hunter goes to!
I always go to Akiba the first day I travel and I found Famicom Disk games for 900 yen each I think that's good for Tokyo city. People always want to see Akihabara and I do still enjoy visiting the stores no matter what your opinion is that it's empty of anything. I have shot many more videos (to be uploaded) and daily on Instagram of our travels outside the city to show actual Hard Off stores
The outta case isn't there but seriously, where are you going to find the game cart for that price? 900Yen (9 AUD is cheap). The comparable item in Super Potato was 80+ which is later in the video
@@TeamRetro you miss the manual too. So its basically loose. Also ppl that buy at super potato are turist noobs... There are manu other places outside turist spots

I mean I like
More to come! I do slow down a little more outside the city as I have more space. In Akihabara it is crazy packed haha
And thank you for watching 🙌 forever grateful for the support
@@TeamRetro ah makes sense guess the stores are tiny and I know japanese are not fully happy being filmed
@TeamRetro no problem I look forward to these each year
will watch it tomorrow direct after work 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘, so cool
✨✨✨
Seems like Super Potato is more of a place for RUclipsrs to go and record than it is to get a good deal.

I went a month ago for the first time akihabara must have been good back in the day because it is heaps expensive
I’m heading to Tokyo next month, so thanks so much for this video. I am really surprised by some of these high prices though!

I’m there next month. What’s the likelihood of finding Silent Hill 2 for ps2 in your opinion?
I think you'll find it I've seen it a couple of times
I would spend so much money there, it'd be dangerous.
It is my credit card has got a workout lol

Super potato about to go out of business with those prices.
It's crazy these days!
The only problem with retro game shopping in Japan is unless you understand the language playing rpg or heavy text games would be impossible
I don't disagree with you there. I think playing those RPGs would be a great way to learn though which is something in the future I plan on doing. Wow Rez for 900 yen?!? Deal!
So good! I have it so left for someone else to find that epic deal 🤝
Actually 30000 yenes is around $210 and 900 yen is less than $7... where are you getting your exchange rate?
We are Australian so it is dollar for dollar almost. In USD you are correct however, I only talk about the Aussie conversion
