Just finished binge watching this entire series and man I have to say the sheer improvement in such a short amount of time is incredible. the production value on last few videos is amazing. Keep up the great work and you'll go far! I'm going to be going to Japan in a couple years time, most likely in the Tokyo area and I plan on doing a lot of game hunting. Mostly Fire Emblem, Zelda and Pokemon. Watching these videos has inspired me to collect as much as I can while I'm there. Looking forward to the next retro game hunt video!
Thanks so much for the support, I appreciate it :D hopefully I'll have another episode out by the end of the month. Otherwise, I hope you make it out here. Japan is such a one of a kind place, and the retro game scene here is insane. You'll absolutely love it!
Thanks for posting these :) I recently did a 2500km road trip around Japan and we stopped in so many hobbyoffs/bookoffs/hardoffs and offhouses :) Bringing back some great memories!
Did the same myself, 6 months across the country just as they opened after lockdown, hitting smany stores daily; as far south as Okinawa and as far north as Abashiri. The various OFF themes are burnt into my brain as some subconcious conditioning... It was a great expirence and I'm glad I got to do it when I did :D
Yay that your saying Canadian Prices!! Best to say CAD and USD lol too. Another great DS game is Osu Takakae Ouendan 2 Morris Nekketsu rhythm game there a 1&2. Have u seen gameboy Prince of Persia? Or sfc? Gameboy Marus mission I ran into that game yesterday in English it also was out in Japan.. sorry I write too much.
$33 Canadian dollars for SFC wow so cool don’t have a sfc I have like a 3rd party 2in 1 and a famicom disk system… so many loose GAMEBOY GAMES ❤I would take my gameboy to try them in store lol. Watching the re cap so cool your friend sends games from Canada 🇨🇦
hey nice to see ya again! got a Super Famicom from Japan recently (online), really excited to play some of the classics. Got Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 and 3 for it, along with a bunch of Mario games and Street Fighter 2 Turbo. Great video as always!
@@frankieinjapan I got it through Sendico, I really enjoy how they package stuff, they charge 500 yen per thing you buy so it's good to find bundles so you don't keep paying 500 yen on stuff that costs sub 1000 yen. Luckily the Mario games were all a bundle (Super Mario Kart, All Stars and Yoshi's Island), Super Mario World came with the console and the 3 DK games were a bundle also. Got some Nintendo DSis as well to hack and a spare Gameboy Color to turn into a PoCo.
I rercently subscribed. What I like is the shots of video walking to and from the stores and of course inside the stores and then your back at home "haul". Also your dad seems like a cool dude which brings me to the question....did your dad live there before you or did he make the move at the same time as you/ or after? Maybe you already made a video about this stuff but if not it would be interesting to see.
Thanks for the support :) and he's actually my wife's Dad, she's half Canadian. Most people think he's my actual dad because we're both white dudes haha 🤣
I'm actually headed to Japan in a couple of months...planning to hit most of the Offs for some retro games. I do have a question though...regarding the Super Famicom boxes games, are the cartridges themselves usually in good condition (no yellowing, not dirty). You can't tell because of the shrink wrap.
That's awesome, you're gonna love it! And the super Famicom games are usually always great condition. They label boxes in most places if there's yellowing, and the super worn down used ones usually end up in a bin for like 100 yen. Every place is different, but usually that's how they handle it.
Are there any places in Japan left where you can buy arcade parts old PCBs and things like that? I know in the '90s into the early 2000s it was popular but it looks like it's pretty much dried up. It's all the console and anime stuff now dominating
Nice episode and great pickups! Good idea with loose DKC games. You can never get enough of those. And woah at that Rockman & Forte for SFC! Amazing price! I always see it for 10 000 - 20 000 yen everywhere. And yea, I noticed boxed GBA games are getting really hard to find in BOOK OFF's nowadays...
For sure. Can never have too many loose copies for playing 🤣 and I'm not into collecting Megaman ATM asides from battle network, but if I would've known at the time, I would've snagged that one haha. But yea it sucks that GB is getting harder to find there
Oh the psp is kenka bacho bros lol number 3 is very cheap $2.63 cad and ship $7.90 dont understand how ship more expensive and 1 is 15.80cad and $7.90 ship. Will just write it here lol incase u come across them curious on prices lol... thank u

Still watching your video that’s funny your speaking of LOST IN BLUE I want to pick those up there is 3games In the series I’m watching them on eBay and Amazon. But how do you play it if it’s in Japanese? A great video idea would be to show games that are Japanese and that have English text, there one ds games that has that option I saw it on another RUclips channel Humm can’t remember the name it’s a rpg game.
do you check price only or do you only compare prices from one store to an other? did Dad and Abbie (abby? one day i'll remember the correct spelling...) buy anything ?
I check prices on price charting if there's something I'm keen on getting. And dad got a couple CDs, but Abbey didn't find a single thing she wanted unfortunately. She's trying to get Ranma 1 1/2 and sailor moon super Famicom games
Hey thanks for checking in! We've just been struggling with money, so we haven't had the ability to go retro game hunting haha 🤣 I'll get back to it once we find better footing

$44 dollars for Pokémon green??? When I was in vacation trip in Japan I was buying Pokémon games for $5 dollars and that was back in 2019 WOW!! And I seen a bunch of ps1 consoles for $5 dollars, that’s it’s crazy how much they sell for now in Japan! What I notice is that a lot of people are selling on eBay! And is why the prices are so high now! I got a final fight for the famicom for $32 dollars completed and now they sell for almost $200 dollars in eBay! I’m talking Canadian dollars, I got a full set of neo geo cd for $4700dollars a full set, and metal slug, metal slug x and metal slug 3 for the AES for 8k Canadian, back in 2012 and that was the only reason I travel to japan back in 2012 I wonder how much the metal slug games sell for, I can’t find any listing other then one for metal slug x for 5k on eBay, but I think his nuts no a real price,or I hope not
actually yes - most AES prices exploded over the past 10 years and it got worse during Covid. Rare ones like Metal Slug 1 or 2 are somewhere between 5000-20.000$ depending on condition. the "common" Metal Slugs are like 2000-6000$ xD
I absolutely plan on it, I'm just in a financial hard place ATM. If I could afford it with both money and time, I would 🤣 I will come back eventually, promise 🤘
