I've mentioned it in several comment chains, but I think /u/Anabaena_azollae's comment is very important to understanding the ending, so I'll put it here: "Pyra/Mythra's "sacrifice" is not about making a noble sacrifice to save the world, it's about Rex learning that he can't do everything himself. It's the crux of his character arc. Throughout the whole story, Rex makes rash and often foolish decisions because he can't bear the idea of standing idly by while something terrible happens. He wastes Vandham's sacrifice because he can't bring himself to give up and run away. The thought that he's actually powerless and unable to protect others torments him and almost makes him give up his quest at the beginning of Chapter 7. Addam chastises him for not accepting his own limitations and greedily desiring to protect everyone. Even in that last scene, Zeke and Azura have to tell Rex that he needs to let it go, and let Pyra/Mythra/Pneuma do what she needs to do. The point of the scene is that Rex finally acknowledges that there are some things he can't handle personally. He let's Pyra/Mythra/Pneuma act alone; he acknowledges that there is nothing he can do to help in that situation. If Pyra and Mythra didn't come out alright, it would actually undermine the scene in my opinion, as it would mean that by letting go, Rex actually did fail in his goal to protect them and would cast doubt on whether he did the right thing. Furthermore, it would have undermined Pyra/Mythra's own character arc. She had longed for oblivion, feeling that she was not worthy of life. Her growth is in the acknowledgement that her power doesn't define her and in finding the resolve to live and find a place she can belong in the world. Were she to die, either completely or just the specific personalities she has developed, would be to make her character's development futile. Accross the board, I don't think a bittersweet ending is appropriate for the game. The major theme of the story is survival. Klaus finding a way to bring a dead world back to life, Rex looking for a way to live when the land itself is aging, both aegises and the members of Torna looking for a purpose to an unending life. Throughout the game, nihilism is the enemy, whether in Amalthus, Malos, or even Rex and Pyra. Consequently, survival of our heroes, in every sense, is the only appropriate outcome."
Alexander M I approve of this.. Overall this game fucked with my emotions and I can see that Rex did eventually have to make a choice of becoming adult. To be a child evidently you have to accept the fact given to you.
you know, I just finished the game and was thinking (probably like everyone else) that pyra and mythra coming back was a cop out but I didn't think about it that way. this made me do a double take and like the ending and rex's character arc a lot more
You know, if Bana hadn't have chosen Rex for that one job at the start of the game the world would have been destroyed and they would have never found Elysium.
If they hadn't chosen Rex they may simply never have gotten to Pyra. Hard to say. I mean there MAY have been another salvager from his home that may have been dragged into this mess just the same.
Daniel Flanagan Despite being a Robot, she was the most emotive character of them all. Even though I spoiled myself on Tv tropes how Chapter 7 started, I wasn’t prepared for the delivery to be so... emotional.
his death broke me. I heard he was gonna die so I prepared myself. I thought he was gonna die in his fight with glasses boy from protecting rex. then he didn't and I was like yo I guess he ain't dying. then boom an hour later.
yeah his death was actually spoiled in the first nintendo direct about this game, when they showed rex fighting with roc, then vandham explained the only way blades get passed on is if the driver dies, so I just put two and two together
When I found out about Nia being a blade and how she revived Niall, that actually pissed me off. Because I thought, "Why would you keep that a secret?!? Do you have any idea how many times we could have used this?! VANDHAM!!!!"
PAOerful One reason Why is Because She was afraid If the others of rex team found out She was a flesh eater. A blade to live when They eat a human and becomes flesh eater. Nia was a blade and Then became a flesh eater probably After her sister and her father died. It was a reason Why She wanted it to keep it a secret
Ok so this ending is absolutely beautiful in just about every way but I’d like to note something interesting. When Rex finds out Mythra is sacrificing herself he goes through the rapid fire stages of grief. Denial: “You’ll be ok right? You’ll come back right?” Bargaining: “I’ll go over to you. Poppi fly my over please! I just need you to fly me over!” Anger: *Angrily grabbing Poppi by the shoulders and yelling at her.* Depression: breaking down and crying after realizing Poppi wouldn’t respond to his anger. Acceptance: Standing up and saying his goodbyes, then running off to the transporter.
This game fucked with my emotions so much and I loved every moment. That sweet delicious continuity. The new stuff added to sort of flesh out the first Xenoblade. Feels good, feels organic.
I like how the whole world tree is falling apart, but they can still cry about Pyra/Mythra sacrificing herself for like 10 minutes before actually escaping.
@@Lanoman123 They had 15, they cried for 10, and used the reamining 5 to escape (as that'ss what the timer had when Mythra set the self destruct thing)
Some quick explanation points for those that are a bit confused with the ending (from my interpretations, of course): 1. Azurda reverted back to his old self because of Pneuma touching his core crystal. 2. Pyra/Mythra came back to life because Pneuma gave Rex her core crystal. As long as the driver lives and holds on to the crystal, the blade can never die. Pyra/Mythra are special because they are Aegises, so they retain their memories (like they did about Addam's time, etc.), unlike normal Blades. 3. It's my personal opinion that Rex never saw Nia as a love interest like Nia did with Rex. Their relationship seemed much more brother/sister to me, especially looking at it from Rex's point of view. Even the scene when Nia first reveals to him that she's a flesh eater and confesses her love for him, he says he loves her... but it sure seems like he means that as a friend or, like I said, a sister. He had feelings for Pyra from the start. 4. Echoing another comment being shared around, Pyra/Mythra being gone for good would undermine both their character arc and Rex's. Rex needed to learn that sometimes he can't help or save everyone. He wasted Vandham's sacrifice because he couldn't let him go. By letting Pneuma go because he realizes that he can't help her, he is rewarded with them coming back because he made the wise decision to do so. Because of that, instead of sacrificing himself with her, they all lived because he held onto her core crystal and escaped. Pyra/Mythra completed their arc by realizing that they found their purpose. It's a foil to Malos, in a way, who also found his purpose as he died (though he realized he was always bound for destruction and chaos, as he even says that Rex being his driver most likely wouldn't have changed anything). They realized that they are not defined by their power or use as a weapon, and that they can be appreciated while not feeling like a burden on their driver. Them dying at that moment would have made all of that pointless, because if they did die, they WOULD be a heavy emotional burden on everyone that they sacrificed their life for. 5. Pyra and Mythra becoming two separate people/Blades is most likely either part of Klaus' last gift or an effect of the Conduit vanishing. Though it would make sense because it implies that now that all the landmasses are one and the Titans are obsolete, the concept of Blades is also. He most likely made all Blades mortal, so they can live out their lives like regular people. That's pure speculation on my part though, haha. 6. At the post-credits scene, I'm pretty sure that whoever you pick says "I love you" (in the English version). Would make sense considering the chapter is called "And Thus, Boy Met Girl". Pretty fitting, I think. I hope this clears things up for some people!
I like it. I'm gonna disagree with two things tho. I'm pretty sure Pyra and Mythra would lose all their memories. The reason they remember their time with Addam is because they never actually reverted back to their core crystal. They were pretty much just in a state of hibernation. As for the post credits scene, rather than "I love you" I'd guess Pyra or Mythra is introducing themselves which would explain the melancholy expression on Rex's face immediately afterwards. Everything else is solid tho.
Kyle Champion Yeah, her keeping her memories was the only thing I was a bit unsure of. I'm thinking that it was just part of Klaus' gift, as it seems the Driver/Blade dynamic might be gone in the new world that Klaus unveiled. That's definitely open to interpretation, though! EDIT: Them keeping their memories could also be supported by Pyra/Mythra seeming to have remembered Poppi, as they didn't seem surprised when she ran up and hugged them.
Kyle Champion You're exactly right; if you read her lips she is saying "Hajimemashite" aka "Nice to meet you" in Japanese. So they definitely lost their memories.
GenesisJames Okay, okay... this is all well and good... but does anyone have any idea of what those land masses are after Gramps crosses “the rift?” I believe it could be a part the world Shulk “created,” but I want a second opinion.
MetaTele I don't think it is. This game makes it very clear that they are two separate universes. I have a feeling the landmasses are part of the original Earth that survived, similar to Morytha. After all, Klaus eliminates the Cloud Sea, revealing the true Elysium all along: Earth. He basically showed them the actual surface of the planet so they can colonize it like their "ancestors" before them. The Titans will soon become obsolete, as they are joining with the land.
13:27 This. This moment. Everyone else gets their moment to console Rex and Nia says absolutely nothing. She sees the person she loves broken and in despair and just shares a tender gaze with him, and he's finally able to pick himself back up.
Well, yeah. She's gotta be hurt bad too. She confesses to him when she ousts herself as a blade, and then we see her inner self being jealous of pyra when the architect shows them the shape of their hearts. Poor thing, among everything else she was probably wondering "if it were me, would he be this hurt?".. "I'll still be here, Rex".. Honestly, just the gaze she shares with him to let him know he isn't alone is probably the best she could muster. That shit hurt too
TBF, Xenoblade and even the other Xeno games from Monolith has always been built upon story as its foundation, not graphics or visual fidelities. This is why Xenosaga as a series is one of the most praised RPG's of all time due to its incredible storytelling.
@@jamesmartinandbbccontinuities That's how it is in the original game, so it's unknown what she says. It's so the player doesn't know if she has her memories or not.
17:49 There's something about Malos's voice that really makes me happy. He sounds as if he's at peace. His voice no longer is amplified by the malicious will that was projected onto him by Amalthus.
As Morag commented, Malos' defeat was his catharsis. His purpose in life was being the obstacle and test for humanity to overcome. He can rest at peace knowing humanity did evolve.
I bought the game because I'm a fan of big tiddy anime girls, I was not expecting to feel genuine emotion throughout the whole damn game and then start bawling at the end. Hats off to the creators, they knew how to hook people in and then blindside them with an excellent story.
Nothing wrong with being honest. I think the reason people laugh at this is because of how relatable it is. They probably got the game for the same reasons. However yeah. I totally agree! Great strategy to grab people bellow the belt and rope em in with a great story! That being said I genuinely got interested because Pyra/Mythra and Rex off to the side got added into Smash... and I saw it in the E-shop and thought why not... a few hours later I'm buying the expansion pass... XD
@@Zelfar_PenDrake it wasn't really his fault because he had no context with the lines and the voice director was pretty bad at directing Rex's VA on what to do but yes i agree rex's voice really suck especially when he's screaming
@@QP_lite yeah it definitely seems like a voice directing issue rather than a voice acting direction. In the smash trailer, Rex sounds a lot better there than he does for a large portion of the actual game showing that yeah, al weaver is actually a good actor. Plus based on what skye Bennett(voice of pyra and mythra) said during her streams of the game, the voice director was incredibly inexperienced and most of the time they only did one take which explains alot
Nah, the Architect was restoring the rest of the planet outside of Alrest. Alrest was basically a box surrounded by the cloud sea around the World Tree.
Great, now I gotta deal with the feels there too. Look, I know it was cheesy, but the ending music for Sa2... considering that there was a very real possibility of it being the last Sonic game ever made, the ending felt like it tied up all the loose ends, with even Eggman stopping to think about what he’s done
Personal theory on the ending: "Boy meets girl" is a literary term used to describe a story about a boy on a journey with a girl and then falling in love with her throughout the journey. The Aegis you choose in chapter 8, is the one Rex ends up with. This is why it may focus on either Pyra or Myrhta's lips depending on who you chose, it's them telling Rex they love him and it's also why the ending is called "Boy met girl" and NOT "Boy met girl(s)" despite Pyra and Myrthra now existing as two different people. "Boy met girl" refers to Rex and Pyra/Mythra's journey and how he fell in love with whoever you picked. This is also why the girl you pick takes over Pneuma and Zeke refers to Pneuma as the girl Rex loves. On top of all of that, Nia even gives Rex a teasing push when Pyra and Mythra come back. Even she knows he loves whoever you picked despite her feelings for Rex. So no, Pyra and Mythra did not loose their memories and "boy met girl" is not about the Aegis loosing her memories and Rex "meeting them" for the first time again. It's a big happy ending of love.
@@corexyz honestly I feel that part is all fan service, giving you an option to pick also lets you choose who appears in the remaining cutscenes if I remember right, so I always took it as letting the player pick a preference since going back and forth with names and trying to do both in cutscenes would be a bother. Pretty sure all the big scenes had both of them, like at the tite screen or last scene for example.
Nothing has broke me more than when I read “Final chapter: And thus boy met girl.” To think I won’t be able to experience this game for the first time again.
Even more so when you consider that throughout the whole adventure, Pyra/Mythra didn't fear death, but feared living. The father gave them the gift of life and eliminating this very fear. Unreal story telling and lets just hope the third game delivers!
Tammaro Moscato Hum, Pyra was created a short time before they went to sleep... Also I guess he did get both blades in the end doesn't make much sense and I'd rather have the fused form but this ending can do...
I fucking cried because of this game... Kotaku...WHAT THE HELL DID U PLAYED??? This game is soo emotive and beautiful... maybe not a goty masterpiece, but the story has so much feelings... that... That... I'm really feeling it!
Ah that kotaku review was a piece of shit, the guy says in it that he didn't like the first game, So why the fuck he reviewed this Don't make no fucking sense
It's game of nothing. The story was pretty cliché tbh, so I could never be emotionally involved in this...pretty sad about that. Also that Kotaku review was kind of accurate on some points. And since XC1 was better, of course he couldn't like it... I don't really get why he got to test the game though.
I like to believe that he ascended and became one with the Conduit. Just like Alvis/Ontos. And perhaps that’s why he’s able to communicate with Pneuma after his “death”
I just finished this game about an hour ago. What an experience! And when I saw the end where it says "chapter 10, and thus boy met girl." HA! no wonder XD
I love the values this game touches apon. I may be spoiling myself of this game by watching all of the cutsceans you uploaded. But I think it was worth it now
Retroactively looking back from 3, I understand what makes these games so special. They’re not so called great games, and have many, many flaws, however they are downright beautiful experiences. There is no other way to describe it. There are many great pieces of media, but very few come close to being beautiful.
They know exactly how to hit hard with the chapter cards. It’s like “yeah we know you’re emotionally invested. Here’s a few words to cry over so you feel even more”
It's always like that. You begin the chapter, don't really think of its name that much. Like eh, ok. But then at the end of the chapter, you get the name again and it has so much impact.
"And thus, boy met girl, and her sister, and goes full polygamy on them while he is a dick with the girl who loved him; that for some weird reason approves his poligamous relationship." I just felt I had to finish the sentence because I think they forgot the full sentence. And ignored all the polygamy involved for some reason.
This is your first? You gotta go play the others. If you have a wii u you can get both the original xenoblade chronicles and x on the eshop, and they're both just as good, of not (entirely depends on taste) better than this. Xenoblade 1 by far has the best story and well written characters, but the combat is worse. Exploration and stuff like that is still just as good though Xenoblade x lacks in story but by far has the best exploration and combat, but your fun with the game can vary immensly depending on your playstile and/or how and where you explore. Doing it badly can get you into a great difficulty spike and force you to grind, but still it's a great experience
Nintendo didn't make this game. Why did she need to die? lmao endings don't always need to be bad lol. Also she wasn't going to die that is why she didn't want Rex coming with her.
@Crownlessking7 if that's the case, why create all that artificial drama? The problem is not that she didn't die; it's that the game set up the possibility of her dying only to make a red herring without any real narrative payoff. If you're going to set up the possibility of her sacrificing herself, then either go through with it, have the party convince her otherwise and help her seek another solution against all odds, or make there be some emotional arc to her potential sacrifice. None of that happened, making the preceding dramatic outbursts feel like a waste of time as there was no real cathartic payoff.
She never was going to die though, she had to do it herself because if Rex went with her he could of died and that is why she didn't let Poppi take Rex.
@Crownlessking7 dude...whether she was going to die or not is not the issue; hell, Malos had hinted a few chapters back that the aegis could survive for a short while with memories an all so as long as their crystal is in tact. The problem is that this bit of the story frames the situation as if Pnuema was going to sacrifice herself and never come back...I dont think there's anyway to watch this scene and not infer that right of the bat from the way things play out. If she knew she wasn't going to die , she could have just told Rex and the gang.
Of course they would bring back Pyra and Mythra, their development with Rex throughout the game is too good to let die here. Besides, they’re going to need everyone on board for the eventual Xenoblade Chronicles crossover game that’s bound to happen now that the games are all connected.
27:40 From this moment onward in the scene, I couldn't contain my excitement or my tears. You know the ending is perfect when both Pyra and Mythra come back for all our friends. Especially that hug with Poppi... Complemented by the beautiful piece, "One Last You".
just nope even assuming emotional maturity doesn’t assist here there is another solution: it’s called waiting. She’s been alive for hundreds of years, five or so will pass like nothing too her.
I loved how Rex looked at Poppi after she fell on their way to the escape pods. It showed he really did let Pneuma go. He understood it was not Poppi's fault, or that she didn't want to take him across towards her. She would've taken him if it was up to her. But he understood Poppi made a promise to her, and it was for the better.
Re-watching this again, I really don’t think there’s any way Pyra/Mythra lost their memories when returning at the very end. I mean, just look at their interaction with Poppi before they even say anything to Rex. They’re reacting warmly and with familiarity to Poppi, why would they do that if they had no idea who Poppi was?
I think the theory is that they recognize everyone, but they don't remember the journey. They just know they're a family basically. I dont know if buy into this theory, but I've seen that justification for it and I suppose it makes sense
Truly a beautiful videogame ending, I will never forget the memories I've had with this game, they were up and down of course as normal memories go. I am so happy I've played this game, this a genuine Nintendo Switch classic. I will forever cherish this wonderful game. This was the best $60 spent on a game ever.
That would be cruel. Well we’ll see. Takahashi and Monolith know what they’re doing, so nothing happens without a reason But don’t split them apart. Please Monolith!
Gonzalo Ruben Cachi imagine this: what if the land they all arrived at was Shulk’s new world from the first game... and Shulk meets Rex, Pyra/Mythra, and the 2 crew... that would blow my mind even more than Klaus did in this game...
+MetaTele Well, it's widely speculated that this is the same world that Shulk created, but with the need to create data for all those characters AND clashing artstyles, I don't know if they would do that in the DLC or a new game
Eh... The game made it seem like Alrest/Cloud Sea is actually the original world that Klaus "destroyed" in an attempt to create a new universe (as shown in the end of XC1 and the retconned intro of Chapter 10 in XC2). Klaus didn't completely destroy the original universe as presumed in XC1, the original universe goes on to be the Cloud Sea in XC2. The events of XC1 occur at the same time, but within a different universe (the universe that the second half of Klaus, now Zanza, resides in). Perhaps at the end of XC1, when Shulk ended Zanza and initiated Alvis to create a new universe, Alvis carried Shulk's new world over to the original universe where Rex's crew left off in XC2.
"I love you, Rex", "Daisuki da", is what the girl said in the end. I'm willing to bet everything on it :) Reasoning below: 1. Looking at 0.25x speed at both EN and JP versions confirms that. In EN you can see the first word is "I" and the last word contains an "E". 4 words. "I-LOVE-YOU-REX". In JP you can discern 3 syllables which contain "a" "i" "a" which fits perfectly with "DAI-SUKI-DA". In comparison "TA-DA-I-MA" would be a tad longer (4 syllables). *Note - for some reason the western version of the game only had/has the English lip-sync animations for the final muted ending dialogue, so even if you played with Japanese audio you would still see the English lip-synced version. The only way to see the actual Japanese muted lip-sync animation is to watch gameplay from the Japanese version (or play it). 2. Equivalent meaning - The Japanese word “daisuki” (大好き) means “love” or “like very much”. When said to a person it usually expresses romantic feelings towards them and has the same meaning as “I love you” in English. "Daisuki da" is a more casual way to say "I love you" and it implies that you have strong feelings for someone. In English there is only one way to say "I love you" but in Japanese there are several. While "Ai shiteru/Aishiteru" is the pinnacle way to reveal your feelings and say "I love you" to your Japanese partner, it is used sparingly and considering Rex was only 15 years old the devs probably decided not to go to the extremes. She was in love with him but even that strong love had room to grow into an even more passionate one as Rex grew up and they spent more time together :) Remember - after all, the actual time they spent adventuring side by side was pretty short, around one year or less maybe. 3. There's no "Tadaima"(I'm back/home) because there's no "Okaeri"(welcome back/home) - Rex is not saying anything in return. If you're a bit familiar with Japanese culture you'd know those go hand in hand. 4. It's not a coincidence that the girl that Rex picked and called out her name before they got separated is the one that talks to him first. 5. After they get separated, she says: "Rex... I'm so glad to have met you. Our time together was short... a fraction of my long, long years. But it's been warmer and brighter... than any time I can remember before. You shone a light on my melancholy path. You showed me the way. Thank you for that, Rex. Thank you for that gift of light." He managed to bring out feelings in her that no one else could over the course of hundreds of years. Also, since we're fully elucidating mysteries here, when she is asked "How was it, being alive?" - both EN and JP lip-syncs have a very distinguishable "O" in their ending letters therefore: "Awesome", "Saiko(u) da" - meaning the best, most, highest, supreme. And as someone said it can be translated to "awesome" with those words in mind, closer to "the awesomest". 6. In case you haven't noticed, the song's lyrics are about wanting to transcend time and death just to share your feelings with a special someone: Can I ask you, God? Despite all of this... Could the sandglass somehow take back the time? One last time is all I ask from you Can you please spare me a time with the one man I loved? I wouldn't care how and where it should be But I need one last time I want to tell you, how I feel inside for you I want you to know..." She wants him to know that she's back? That her name is Pyra(Homura) or Mythra(Hikari)? Nice to meet you/hajimemashite ? That she lost her memories? No. She wants to let him know just how special he is to her. And she does that with simple words that no one can deny. 7. If you look in-game the name of the final cutscene is "The Last Gift" showing both Pyra(Homura) and Mythra(Hikari). Granted, having both girls back is a wonderful gift by itself, but how would one of them be able to share her feelings if she lost her memory? Starting with 0 memories there is still the possibility that she could have fallen in love again with Rex but could she really have attained the same feelings that only Rex manage to evoke in her after hundreds of years? No. In the same time there could have been a different outcome... and had fallen in love with Poppy/Hana instead :/ All the feelings bursting inside her chest and her desire to share them with Rex would have been wasted and so would her final wish that she asked of God. So the ending song "One Last You" would become pointless. The whole emphasis on the final song lyrics "But I need one last time I want to tell you, how I feel inside for you, I want you to know...." goes directly into the trash bin. But that's not the case. Apparently in their world, God was kind and merciful enough to grant their/her final wish... and a nice extra bonus on the side :) And if you still have doubts, try to go back in time to the first time you really fell in love with someone, imagine your life fading away with those untold feelings bursting inside you and then getting one more chance to stand in front of that special person. What would you say? For humanity's sake I sure hope it's not "THINK YOU CAN TAKE ME?" =))
just saying that makes me tear up cause I remembered. God damn... I wish I didn't finish the game, I shoulda quit when everything was good. nothing crazy happened. why did I have to know what would happen.
After finish the game I can say that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the Best game I have ever played. Literally no game has moved me so much and made me cry like this game did.
I am not a big Nintendo fan. I got the Switch mostly just to play jrpgs and I mostly got this because it was the first one of note to come out but I tell you this game was worth it. I went out got a Wii U after beating this just so I could play the other Xenoblade games and while I think I'll end up liking this more overall I find the Xenoblade series very compelling. It has replaced Final Fantasy as my favorite jrpg series. This game has some noticeable flaws, that could have easily been fixed so I understand why some people gave it a 7/10 but for me this is still the best game I've played last year.
Ay, glad to see you're trying the other two Xenoblade games. Chronicles 2 was a great game, but I still find myself preferring Chronicles 1 and the spinoff, Chronicles X. Hope the other two games in the series are as endearing to you.
It’s even better if an ending when you realize that poppi wasn’t just glad to see pyra and mythra, she was excited because she thought that the promise she made to the two killed them.
I legit just beat it 5 minutes ago. I am so surprised how much tears i can produce through my eyes. This was absolutely the most beautiful execution to an ending i have ever seen in a game. Now im super depressed that its over. 😔
The way they connected the two games wrapped it up perfectly. It gave more meaning to the series and story as a whole. I was emotionally destroyed by this game. I’ve got nothing left in me to play this for awhile. At least until the new story dlc comes out by the end of this year.
This is a great game and will be remember decades down the line as being one of Nintendo Switch best games for the console just like FFVII was for the PSOne.
for me this is kind of bitter-sweet, yeah Pyra/Mythra is alive and apperantly remembered everything, but she is still a blade and she even severed the life bond she had with rex, meaning that when rex is gone she will go on living and eventually move on to the next driver.
if you're talking about the part were she said she wishes to lay to rest next to the person she loves, that's a good theory but only made sense when she had a life link with rex, kinda like pandaria has with zeke, but remember, she sever that link and once rex is gone there's not even a guarantee she will return to her core crystal, as addam was dead and she was still outside, and even if she does return, what's to say say that in a century of two someone digs up rex's grave and takes the core to resonate with her? but of course this is all just speculation, and the reason I find it bitter-sweet because there is that chance she may still continue to live on without rex, I'm not saying it will happen for sure, just that the possibility exists.
But isn't the Conduit gone? The titans are also no more, so that means no more new blades. This is just speculation for my part, but would bet anything they are not"blades" anymore. Think it like the ending of Xenoblade, that ends with also the titans gone and the supernatural sword, the Monado, vanished forever. But either way, the girls have attained happiness together with the man they love, so all's good in the world, don't ya think. There's really no point in further speculating about things that we are not even going to see because the story is over.
XR huh, when you think of it that way it does make sense, I mean Pyra/mythra recovered from the core crystal but you could argue she wasn't a regular blade to begin with and can still do stuff like that, so yeah that is a good theory. Guess will find out soon enough on the "new story DLC".
Story time: I know that I’m 2 years late but f it, I just wanna share my feelings about this masterpiece. 3 years ago, I went to my GameStop, to look for mario kart 8 deluxe, but it was outsold, and I didn’t wanna go home without a game, so I thought: what game am I going to buy? I didn’t see anything, so I thought: hm, there is nothing here, but you know, my mom loved zelda when she was young, I’m gonna give it a try... BOI I LOVED THAT GAME A year later, I walked into the same game stop, lookin for mario party. They once again, didn’t have it, so I did something weird, I looked at al the games, en closed my eyes, and picked one. It was snipperclips. I was like: ehh, do I want this? I didn’t so I put it back but I missed and layed it on top of xenoblade. The man at the cassa was mad at me bc it was taking so long and he wanted to close, so i took it, looked at the box, and I bought it. I played for a few hours that day, and I didn’t now how to feel about it. The game felt so weird(it was my first RPG) and I was thinking of bringing it back to the GameStop. The next day I thought: I’m going to give it a few more hours. I just wanted to take my bike to take it back, but then I got to Pyra. The battle vs Malos was so sick. I started liking it. In gormott i saw that motherfucking territorial rotbart. That fucker killed me like 15 times. By that point I started to now how the game worked. I played( and kinda enjoyed) until Mor Ardain. I got stuck there cuz I didn’t get field skills. I literally didn’t play for 6 months. Then, I looked up some YT stuff, and finished mor ardain. I arrived at Rex’s hometown. I learned about the story. After that, I was hooked. I completed the rest of the game in 3 weeks. It’s now my favourite game of all time after smash bros. The ending hit me crying for like 5 mins!!!! Good sir, congrats on getting here! You have the dedication Ow yeah Pyra>Mythra
This game asks a lot but gives back to you more than you could ever imagine. I also had a similar story with XC1. The combat was weird so I put the game down for 2 months. But then I tried again for a few more hours and boom, fell in love with monolithsoft.
Got into the Xenoblade DE hype loved the game. Went straight into Xenoblade 2 and found my new favourite game of all time. Can't believe I had been sleeping on the Xenoblade games man. Ow yeah Mythra>Pyra
@@itsaxel8088 I guess since Mythra created Pyra as a different self due to own self hatred and loathing. I'd like to think they are a different conscious and mind though and by the end they are different people. I love both Pyra and Mythra but I just prefer Mythra.
I just finished this great game an hour ago. Had to rushed on RUclips to see the ending again and read the comments that's most voted. I am satisfied with the responses lol.
The endings are always good in Xenoblade which I'm happy about. Though I would like to know what it was Pyra and Mythra mouthed at the end. The ending suggest they were just reborn, but i don't believe that shit. I like to think they remember everything and simply wanted to be reborn human so they can have a non-stop 3 way suck-session with Rex. All day, every day till the next game.
The two land masses before the titans come are the Mechonis and Bionis. The spikes on the second land mass gives it away, plus the ending of xenoblade 1 matches up. I think xenoblade 3 will be us exploring this new world.
lindanpearl idk if you deleted your comment or not, but shulk's universe was created after Klaus used the conduit and Rex's universe was created on the ruins of the old world. That's what morytha is, and he even say it himself. But he was split in two like you said
I feel that the ending is pretty open ended, and leaves a lot open to interpretation. It didn’t leave me as satisfied as the first game’s ending did. Maybe that DLC next fall will do something to tie up some loose ends. THREE YEARS LATER: Turns out the ending has grown on me a lot
I mean what things are like after what we've seen. The ending was missing a scene at the very end that shows what each of the characters are up to, like that scene at the end of the first Xenoblade
for everyone b*tching about pyra/mythra not really dying: 1.- heroine sacrificing herself to save the boy he loves is one of the most overused cliches in anime and japanese RPGs, this is actually a nice detour of the cliche. 2.- monolith studios likes to fake out the death of the main love interest, this is just monolith being monolith. 3.- it's nintendo for christsakes, they are the Disney of videogame companies, unless its a parent or wise mentor they are not going to kill a potential marketable main character. 4.- there's a DLC coming in next year, and it's said to involve a brand new adventure, it stand to reason to have Rex's main blade alive for that.
Number 4 I think is the strongest point for this, and kinda what was in the back of my mind after that entire scene. But I guess Nia could've been Rex's new blade too... but then Dromarch would be lonely.
StickFigure who? mythra and Pyra? dude they didn't lost their memories, they remembered Poppi, and Pyra/mythra (depending on which name you choose for their final form) wispered something to Rex, it's pretty clear they remember everything.
Zeke went from being a thorn in my side at his first appearance in the story to literally having one of the most poignant lines I've ever heard in a video game. She's the girl you love. You've got to accept her decision. That's what being an adult means.
The ending scene definitely is a stark contrast to vandahms. This is rex's coming if age story. He's becoming an adult and sometimes you have to realize that you aren't the center of the world. Sometimes people will have to make sacrifices for you and the other way around. In the end, that's their decision.
this is one of the only video games that has ever made me bawl my eyes out like i did, it was like 1am when i finally defeated the artifice and i couldn’t stop sobbing, it was so bad 😣😔
Some people are kind of curious as to what Pyra/Mythra says at the end, but from what I see, I think she says "I remember...", which may indicate that neither of them lost their memories when they returned to being a core crystal like how other blades do when they return to being a core crystal, but that's just my opinion...
I'm totally sure that Klaus could have done a new world from the beginning. But he was remorseful, he knew he made a mistake. He knew Galea was right. he acted on a selfish manner..... and the price for it was the whole world. he stayed to try to correct the world, he tried to amend things. a bold gamble if you ask me. But when his other half was sent to the xc1 world, he knew it wasn't the end. doesn't matter if his "evil" side went to another place, he knew another selfish individual could appear and the history would repeat itself. And after all his effort, it happened. The world he tried to restore was full of "fools" as he said when we saw the BeanStalk/Phase Transition memory. People with awful intentions, people who only thinks about themselves. Like the soldier in Amalthus memories, Bana and MuiMui in XC2, Gort in torna..... He was always watching, he saw what Amalthus was going thru. He probably watched Amalthus rescuing the baby and asking : "O Architect! is this the world that you intended?" It wasn't, not at all. Klaus lost all hope on humanity. His plan couldn't change humanity. So he finally gave up. He didn't stopped Amalthus when he reached elysium and took the Aegises Core Crystal.....and that was the last drop for Amalthus. Amalthus lost his faith in the Architect in the same symbolic way as he lost his mother. His mother without any power to stop the hatred of the world left Amalthus alone, LANDING ON A TREE And Amalthus, later in his life, broken inside by how the world treated him and the ones he loved, tried to reach Klaus. "Father waits.... above" But found nothing more than the Aegises Cores. With his soul crushed by the absence of The Architect, Amalthus leaves and then falls from the World Tree, landing in....... part of the tree. Amalthus sees himself in the same exact despair as when he lost his mother, but know the one's "who abandoned him" is Father..... the Architect With all the despair and sadness, Amalthus returns to Indol and decides to awaken one of the 2 core crystals he took from God. we all know the rest.
17:17 Over a year later, and I just realized that the cymbal crash in the music is perfectly timed to the jump of the engine starting up. I just love how much care was put into making the music and visuals sync up for such a powerful moment.
So, like, do you actually mean best girl, or do you mean best waifu? Because, best girl is poppy, and she didn't even come close to dying as far as I know.
Mythra at the very end of the cutscene and her mouthing "I love you, Rex" is what brought the tears out in full force. Both for the happy end, but for all the people who died who I was supposed to hate but ended up feeling so sad after you truly knew what they were like.
I find it sad that apparently Rex goes with one of them it seems. In chapter 8 you have the option to choose either Pyra or Mytha and that affects when they mouth the words. Plus it says “Thus, boy met girl” not “boy met girls” possibly meaning he only chooses one of them. Shame they could have made them both say it and he gets two for the price of 1
With all the emotions I felt during all of this, one thing that got me that might not have hit everyone was this scene kinda proved to me that Nia was 100% in love with Rex, that look she gave him had to be saying “ it’s ok Rex, go be happy”...
Only those who played the first Xenoblade Chronicles really understand how legit this game was. Torna was (in my opinion) almost as good and is a MUST play. If they pull off a solid part 3 that finishes the story well, this might be the best modern JRPG franchise. That's how I see it, at least.
I just beat the game……as the credits rolled my mom asked if I beat it and if I liked it…..then the vocals REALLY kicked in…..then the post credit scene…..I’m going to cry
15:41 had always made me cried, seeing those space debris being flung down from the low orbit was in fact saddest scene for me... it means goodbye not just for pneuma and the world tree, but the entirety of the game if you know what i mean... i love xbc 2, and it breaks my heart when i know that its gonna be over, in term of the main story that is... definitely one of the most powerful scene in xbc and maybe in the whole video games industry
My god this ending was a roller coaster. I was legit crushed and then the post credits happened and I was so happy and relieved. Just like XC1, thank you Chuggaconroy for introducing me to this masterpiece. Now it's sidequests and then Torna
This ending got me really emotional, more so than lots of other games I've played in the past. And to think, I bought this game a few months ago completely on a whim thinking it might be a nice addition to my Switch library, but it was so much more... I absolutely fell in love with the characters in this game, and when Poppi started crying in the ending, that hit me way too hard since she's my favorite character. Definitely a very satisfying ending to a great game, and I was so impressed by how much I enjoyed this that I'm now playing through the original Xenoblade Chronicles on my Wii U so that I can learn more about the series. Monolithsoft, thank you so much for all the work you put into such a great game!
Meanwhile ...Shulk: I'm...a god and I get my girlfriend back. Lets see...how my other self is doing...oho he gets a sword and ...he falls in love with it...he then fights...another sword... And ... He joins the world...you know what I can't complain...I'm here and that's what matters and all in all i got the better deal...and a cool looking ultimate weapon...though his was kinda badass...but again he falls in love with it...rex: its a human form not an actual blade! Shulk: gotta ask is she metallic alloy on the inside?? Rex:....please no.
Bokz its an alternate dimension...but I mean...nia would be Melia...half human tsundere ...high inquisitor = Sharla, motherly , suspicious at first. Riki= nopon period. Reyn= Zeke badass and goofy...and I mean fiora is half machine...so rex and mythra/ pyrha = Shulk and Fiora/ Meyneth. Though Meyneth does die.
Vayos ReaperoftheVoid I mean yeah they may have similar character traits and roles in the story but I don't think that's enough go on to say they are alternate versions of each other
The Elysium they were searching for all this time was their very own world. I think that's the coolest thing

If Poppi cries. We all cry...
good thing she's a robot then?
That does not stop her.
ok then
Same I cried so hard
I was so close to crying during the end f the game
I've mentioned it in several comment chains, but I think /u/Anabaena_azollae's comment is very important to understanding the ending, so I'll put it here:
"Pyra/Mythra's "sacrifice" is not about making a noble sacrifice to save the world, it's about Rex learning that he can't do everything himself.
Alexander M
I approve of this.. Overall this game fucked with my emotions and I can see that Rex did eventually have to make a choice of becoming adult.
To be a child evidently you have to accept the fact given to you.
Im in tears this ending really hit it
the song didnt help either
you know, I just finished the game and was thinking (probably like everyone else) that pyra and mythra coming back was a cop out but I didn't think about it that way. this made me do a double take and like the ending and rex's character arc a lot more
It doesn't feel like a cop and it's actually still very bittersweet when you realize they come back but they've lost their memories
If rexs parents had lived than it would've been different
does that mean bana is the real hero?
Well technically Jin told Bana to pick Rex so isn't Jin the hero ultimately?
Jarkad07 to me Jin will always be the Hero.
Oh, Poppi... She is undoubtedly my favorite character. Her unbridled joy in seeing them return... tears were shed.
Daniel Flanagan
Despite being a Robot, she was the most emotive character of them all. Even though I spoiled myself on Tv tropes how Chapter 7 started, I wasn’t prepared for the delivery to be so... emotional.
I am honestly so happy they had poppi run to pyra/mythta before Rex did. Way more satisfying

Poppi is so innocent
@@showmeyourmoves8551 yes she is. Even as a grown women of mass destruction with QTPi shes still so innocent hahah
It is very rare that I cry at the end of a movie or game, but this had me in tears.
Toschi worlds Same here 😩😭
This game made me cry 3 times...twice at the end when she died and then when she came back and the other time being when she was kidnapped by jin
I didn't actually cry, but I got pretty close. I even went through a semi-version of the 5 stages of grief when pyra/mythra sacrificed herself
I bearly cry in a game at all but I cryed a lot during it
Even though I haven't played the game, I was in tears most of the time I was watching this video 😢
And the protagonist gets two girlfriends
God I wish I was a badass protagonist
I found that so weird lol, for them to become two, well that sure is akward situation, but if no one cares, who am I to say no ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Good Nice link agrees
If only Vandham could be there with them :(
his death broke me.
PAOerful One YEAH IKR that was her being selfish, cause I remember fondly she was about to but she held back herself
You’ll come back right?”
Bargaining: “I’ll go over to you. Poppi fly my over please! I just need you to fly me over!”
Anger: *Angrily grabbing Poppi by the shoulders and yelling at her.*
Depression: breaking down and crying after realizing Poppi wouldn’t respond to his anger.
Acceptance: Standing up and saying his goodbyes, then running off to the transporter.
TheBlitz then finding it doesn’t put work the transporter and pnuema had to do it herself screw u rex
Woah, good find.
DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH NOW DAMMIT
Oh I think someone watched Netflix and is said are you still there
Pneuma sacrificed herself, saved everyone and gave pyra and mythra another chance to be with rex.
This game fucked with my emotions so much and I loved every moment. That sweet delicious continuity. The new stuff added to sort of flesh out the first Xenoblade. Feels good, feels organic.
Prompto Argentum Same dude enjoyed the gameplay
One bad thing is I feel too depressed to play the post-game. This ending has me emotionally drained and feeling empty
Prompto Argentum I'M REALLY FEELING IT. Get it. Cause it's emotional
So good. Never before have I seen two games exist in such a symbiotic relationship
Also Jesus I must have cried a dozen times
That meme is more dead than Peter.
Whoever Peter is.
I like how the whole world tree is falling apart, but they can still cry about Pyra/Mythra sacrificing herself for like 10 minutes before actually escaping.
First Last weren’t they saying they had like 15 minutes or something?
Ya
@@Lanoman123 They had 15, they cried for 10, and used the reamining 5 to escape (as that'ss what the timer had when Mythra set the self destruct thing)
Some quick explanation points for those that are a bit confused with the ending (from my interpretations, of course):
GenesisJames Okay, okay... this is all well and good... but does anyone have any idea of what those land masses are after Gramps crosses “the rift?”
I believe it could be a part the world Shulk “created,” but I want a second opinion.

This.

I don’t care all the problems this game has, this ending is fantastic.
I agree
TBF, Xenoblade and even the other Xeno games from Monolith has always been built upon story as its foundation, not graphics or visual fidelities. This is why Xenosaga as a series is one of the most praised RPG's of all time due to its incredible storytelling.

17:49 There's something about Malos's voice that really makes me happy. He sounds as if he's at peace. His voice no longer is amplified by the malicious will that was projected onto him by Amalthus.
I mean, the reason he was evil was because he was awakened by Amalthus beginning to be consumed by his nihilistic desires

Plus based on what skye Bennett(voice of pyra and mythra) said during her streams of the game, the voice director was incredibly inexperienced and most of the time they only did one take which explains alot

to create, the ultimate blade...
Yo but that’s so true though
Personal theory on the ending:
"Boy meets girl" is a literary term used to describe a story about a boy on a journey with a girl and then falling in love with her throughout the journey. It's a big happy ending of love.
but the sad part is that.. well that you have to choose between these 2. i dont want to choose one of them. i want to choose both of them.

Even more so when you consider that throughout the whole adventure, Pyra/Mythra didn't fear death, but feared living. The father gave them the gift of life and eliminating this very fear. Unreal story telling and lets just hope the third game delivers!
@@cbgg1585 It will. The third trailer already confirmed it will.
And thus, boy met girl(s)
Akumaten Juugou Well at least he got two babes, and his friends.
I don't think so, Soraya Saga confirmed that Addam was Mythra's lover
Tammaro Moscato
Hum, Pyra was created a short time before they went to sleep... Also I guess he did get both blades in the end doesn't make much sense and I'd rather have the fused form but this ending can do...
Tammaro Moscato why you gotta make stuff up
Double Ds get it
This made me cry. Easily my game of the year. ❤
John Justin Lim mee too
Same, while it wasn't as polished as other games, no other game had me as engaged in it's story and no other game felt as profound
Game of my life I would say
2017 was without a doubt nintendo's year. Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Mario Odyssey all in one year.
game of my life
I fucking cried because of this game...
Jihem S. Wow you're pretty good at stating your opinions like they're fucking facts
Well they are
Bo Warner so I'm supposed to think that XC2 is better than the 1st one?
Yeahhhh suuuuure
I half wished Adam was the one who asked Pneuma "How was it? Being alive?" Like he was addressing Mythra and her growth since the Torna DLC
I like to believe that he ascended and became one with the Conduit. Just like Alvis/Ontos. And perhaps that’s why he’s able to communicate with Pneuma after his “death”
@@Dr.Meme-Man that makes sense. I didn’t know whose voice was that.
@@pinguman13 I thought it sounded like Addam too but I think it’s Malos
I just finished this game about an hour ago. What an experience! And when I saw the end where it says "chapter 10, and thus boy met girl." HA! no wonder XD
SoW_Scout's Gaming Hub Think she (or they) still have their memories?
Name_taken We don't know what that something is. And look at his reaction to what they say
Name_taken Then why did he look down after she said it
Name_taken You should know she actually said "Think you can take me" it matches the lip movement perfectly
Name_taken Not saying it's mine
I love the values this game touches apon. I may be spoiling myself of this game by watching all of the cutsceans you uploaded. But I think it was worth it now

Damn im a ps4 player but im thinking of buying a switch just for this game. Cant wait for the dlc's to be released
Yavor Bojinov me two 😁
Wow, you must never played a xeno game, have? This one is very basic when it comes to plot.
Guciom i dont know. Its possible. But this doesnt change the fact that i like this game. Maybe i will check the first one too.
See this is why Rex friend-zoned nia. He literally gets a 2 in one deal with pyra and mythra
Could’ve gotten 3 though…
@@Jet_Genesis720 And he did
And I’m proud of him for it
I never noticed before but you can see Turters on Zeke's shoulder a few times during the post-credits bit.
The 3 best games of this year were are Nintendo games. Xenoblade, Zelda, and ODYSSEY
David Gutierrez agreed
David Gutierrez Horizon zero dawn was pretty great as well
This game really should be on more people's top ten games of 2017 lists
Tom Hopper I agree 100%
I'd throw in persona 5 but yeah
Retroactively looking back from 3, I understand what makes these games so special. They’re not so called great games, and have many, many flaws, however they are downright beautiful experiences. There is no other way to describe it. There are many great pieces of media, but very few come close to being beautiful.
"And thus, boy met girl"
Best quote ever. My love for this game +3
Di Luigi that was such an amazing title for the final chapter
They know exactly how to hit hard with the chapter cards. It’s like “yeah we know you’re emotionally invested. Here’s a few words to cry over so you feel even more”
Idk if my humor is right, but why do I find that funny and sarcastic lol.
It's always like that.
You begin the chapter, don't really think of its name that much. Like eh, ok.
But then at the end of the chapter, you get the name again and it has so much impact.
"And thus, boy met girl, and her sister, and goes full polygamy on them while he is a dick with the girl who loved him; that for some weird reason approves his poligamous relationship."
I just felt I had to finish the sentence because I think they forgot the full sentence. And ignored all the polygamy involved for some reason.
This game has one of the most satisfying and most enjoyable combat mechanics ever in an RPG

Kudos to monolith soft my first ever xenoblade chronicles game and they knock it outta the park wooohooo :)

Saaaaaaaammmmmeeee
This is your first? You gotta go play the others. If you have a wii u you can get both the original xenoblade chronicles and x on the eshop, and they're both just as good, of not (entirely depends on taste) better than this.
Xenoblade 1 by far has the best story and well written characters, but the combat is worse. Exploration and stuff like that is still just as good though
Xenoblade x lacks in story but by far has the best exploration and combat, but your fun with the game can vary immensly depending on your playstile and/or how and where you explore. Doing it badly can get you into a great difficulty spike and force you to grind, but still it's a great experience
Play the original
"Lmao you can't kill one of the main characters are you kidding me?" -Nintendo
Vandham ;-;
I beat Aion at Level 63 with a 2.4 million damage chain attack. It was crazy...
Of course they would bring back Pyra and Mythra, their development with Rex throughout the game is too good to let die here.
Besides, they’re going to need everyone on board for the eventual Xenoblade Chronicles crossover game that’s bound to happen now that the games are all connected.
Ah yes, the gift of prophecy
i would pay to see an anime of the aftermath of this ending. Some daily life things and some adventures
wouldnt it make sense for the game to be an anime?
Both. Both is good.
27:40 From this moment onward in the scene, I couldn't contain my excitement or my tears. You know the ending is perfect when both Pyra and Mythra come back for all our friends. Especially that hug with Poppi... Complemented by the beautiful piece, "One Last You".
This game is literally one of the best I've ever played.
What are the other best games ?
@@ahgaseforever9170 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild ;)
In the end... Rex two girls at bed. Happy ending in deed
don't think it'll matter, its a different world after all, plus its based of japanese culture, in a lot of providences there, he is perfectly legal.
shota is better
just nope even assuming emotional maturity doesn’t assist here there is another solution: it’s called waiting. She’s been alive for hundreds of years, five or so will pass like nothing too her.
Phantom Arcanist yes yes indeed
Maybe as the lyrics said in the end just for One day(One night)
Definitely one of the best endings to a JPRG there is. And I was SO mad that that was it when the credits started to roll.
I love how everyone at the very end are like "Go for it, boy. She's all yours".
@@deuteronomy2749 no? aegises don’t forget. this was very clearly stated in chapter 2 and i’m not sure why this is even a debate
Truly a beautiful videogame ending, I will never forget the memories I've had with this game, they were up and down of course as normal memories go. I am so happy I've played this game, this a genuine Nintendo Switch classic. I will forever cherish this wonderful game. This was the best $60 spent on a game ever.

Don't you understand that xenoblade is a pokemon game, but with waifu instead of pokémons x) !
Hope than dlc don't ruin the happyness that those three work so hard to have.
That would be cruel. Well we’ll see. Takahashi and Monolith know what they’re doing, so nothing happens without a reason
But don’t split them apart.
+MetaTele Because it is... Alrest was built over Morytha, which was the world Klaus destroyed.
"I love you, Rex", "Daisuki da", is what the girl said in the end. I'm willing to bet everything on it :) Reasoning below:
6. In case you haven't noticed, the song's lyrics are about wanting to transcend time and death just to share your feelings with a special someone:
Can I ask you, God? Despite all of this...
Could the sandglass somehow take back the time?
One last time is all I ask from you
Can you please spare me a time with the one man I loved?
I wouldn't care how and where it should be
But I need one last time I want to tell you, how I feel inside for you
I want you to know..."
She wants him to know that she's back?
For humanity's sake I sure hope it's not "THINK YOU CAN TAKE ME?" =))
Oh god that made me cry I love happy endings who agrees shout out
Michael Cullen I ain't gonna lie, that 👊 me a little bit too (not enough to make me cry though)
I cried. Like. Jesus. They tore me a new one and sewed it back on
Honestly the "wow the feels she died...lol nope was a prank" is sooooo fucking lame
The last cutscene had me crying on 3 separate occasions, but the last part, when Pyra’s flames reignited the core crystal, made me cry the hardest
just saying that makes me tear up cause I remembered.
You absolute loser.
RODELL FUTCH amen to that
Ay, glad to see you're trying the other two Xenoblade games. Chronicles 2 was a great game, but I still find myself preferring Chronicles 1 and the spinoff, Chronicles X. Hope the other two games in the series are as endearing to you.
Pyra/Mythra were never truly dead. Their core crystal was fully intact and their driver was alive.
Coming back here after Xenoblade 3 ending
I didnt surprise Rex end up with mythra and pyra but I surprise it end up with Nia to what a Chad...
This game did me so dirty but then undid the dirtiness in a satisfying and happy way.
The way they connected the two games wrapped it up perfectly. It gave more meaning to the series and story as a whole. I was emotionally destroyed by this game. I’ve got nothing left in me to play this for awhile. At least until the new story dlc comes out by the end of this year.
In XC3, Rex indeed shows us a thing or "three"
You can say that he's just got a triple deck by his side. 🤣🤣🤣 But still he's love, courage and strength.
This is a great game and will be remember decades down the line as being one of Nintendo Switch best games for the console just like FFVII was for the PSOne.
I just beat it like 35 minutes ago
Beat it last night
for me this is kind of bitter-sweet, yeah Pyra/Mythra is alive and apperantly remembered everything, but she is still a blade and she even severed the life bond she had with rex, meaning that when rex is gone she will go on living and eventually move on to the next driver.
If you had payed attention to a certain part near the climax of the game, you would know that's not gonna happen.
if you're talking about the part were she said she wishes to lay to rest next to the person she loves, that's a good theory but only made sense when she had a life link with rex, kinda like pandaria has with zeke, but remember, she sever that link and once rex is gone there's not even a guarantee she will return to her core crystal, as addam was dead and she was still outside, and even if she does return, what's to say say that in a century of two someone digs up rex's grave and takes the core to resonate with her?
but of course this is all just speculation, and the reason I find it bitter-sweet because there is that chance she may still continue to live on without rex, I'm not saying it will happen for sure, just that the possibility exists.
Omar Reyes she's the aegis she won't just return to her crystal she'll live forever
I still get goosebumps watching this, it’s my favourite cutscene in a game
Story time:
I know that I’m 2 years late but f it, I just wanna share my feelings about this masterpiece.
BOI I LOVED THAT GAME
A year later, I walked into the same game stop, lookin for mario party.
You have the dedication
Ow yeah Pyra>Mythra
This game asks a lot but gives back to you more than you could ever imagine. I also had a similar story with XC1. The combat was weird so I put the game down for 2 months. But then I tried again for a few more hours and boom, fell in love with monolithsoft.
Got into the Xenoblade DE hype loved the game. Went straight into Xenoblade 2 and found my new favourite game of all time. Can't believe I had been sleeping on the Xenoblade games man. Ow yeah Mythra>Pyra
Pyra=Mythra
@@itsaxel8088 I guess since Mythra created Pyra as a different self due to own self hatred and loathing. I'd like to think they are a different conscious and mind though and by the end they are different people. I love both Pyra and Mythra but I just prefer Mythra.
Pyra + Mythra + Pneuma = Perfection
I just finished this great game an hour ago. Had to rushed on RUclips to see the ending again and read the comments that's most voted. I am satisfied with the responses lol.
Don't know if you noticed that
But the way Klaus dies is the same for Homecoming in XC3
The endings are always good in Xenoblade which I'm happy about. Though I would like to know what it was Pyra and Mythra mouthed at the end. The ending suggest they were just reborn, but i don't believe that shit. I like to think they remember everything and simply wanted to be reborn human so they can have a non-stop 3 way suck-session with Rex. All day, every day till the next game.
X didn't have a good ending tho
Bruh you saw the future....
Ending changes depending on which name you pick in Chapter 8
Well that sucks.
What are the options? And which is the best to pick?
Its just the name he says. He either yells Pyrra or Mythra
Oh wow I was wondering.
Taiphoon phew... That was a close one. I got worried a bit...
Who else thought that 1 titan was the Mechonis
zz thotkichi I would say that, but I played it and new it was mor ardain
zz thotkichi SAME I REALIZED SOON AFTER BUT I FLIPPED OUT AT FIRST THINKING IT WAS THE MECHONIS
The two land masses before the titans come are the Mechonis and Bionis. The spikes on the second land mass gives it away, plus the ending of xenoblade 1 matches up. I think xenoblade 3 will be us exploring this new world.
lindanpearl they are in two separate universes...
lindanpearl idk if you deleted your comment or not, but shulk's universe was created after Klaus used the conduit and Rex's universe was created on the ruins of the old world. That's what morytha is, and he even say it himself. But he was split in two like you said
I just realized that Rex and “mythra” found an infinite core crystal glitch
I feel that the ending is pretty open ended, and leaves a lot open to interpretation. It didn’t leave me as satisfied as the first game’s ending did. Maybe that DLC next fall will do something to tie up some loose ends.
THREE YEARS LATER: Turns out the ending has grown on me a lot
What loose ends are you talking about?
Such as what the heck happened there at the end. I didn't really get what was going on. It also didn't have the closure that the first game did.
Are you talking about Pyra and Mythra.
I mean what things are like after what we've seen. The ending was missing a scene at the very end that shows what each of the characters are up to, like that scene at the end of the first Xenoblade
Ohhhh
I love how Xenosaga 1's ending directly inspired the ending of Xenoblade 2 it's nice to see Xenosaga's influence on it's successor
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that.
for everyone b*tching about pyra/mythra not really dying:
1.- heroine sacrificing herself to save the boy he loves is one of the most overused cliches in anime and japanese RPGs, this is actually a nice detour of the cliche.
Omar Reyes “not kill a potential marketable character” *flashbacks to fire emblem fates*
BKcraft210 Which one are you refering to? Alot of marketable characters died there.
They're alive, but lost their memories.
And here's me hoping one of the Xeno games someday will somehow link back to Xenogears *cries*
this is one of the only video games that has ever made me bawl my eyes out like i did, it was like 1am when i finally defeated the artifice and i couldn’t stop sobbing, it was so bad 😣😔
Some people are kind of curious as to what Pyra/Mythra says at the end, but from what I see, I think she says "I remember...", which may indicate that neither of them lost their memories when they returned to being a core crystal like how other blades do when they return to being a core crystal, but that's just my opinion...
I think she said "I am home" in Japanese. Rex promise to bring them to Elysium and he fulfilled his promise.
I think the game mentioned that the Aegis won’t loose their memories when they become a core crystal like most blades.
I love this ending. This is the first game that made me full on cry. A beautiful ending.
Just finished the game 1 hour ago. Still crying. I LOVE this game!
He probably watched Amalthus rescuing the baby and asking : "O Architect! is this the world that you intended?"
It wasn't, not at all.
His mother without any power to stop the hatred of the world left Amalthus alone, LANDING ON A TREE
And Amalthus, later in his life, broken inside by how the world treated him and the ones he loved, tried to reach Klaus.
"Father waits.... above"
But found nothing more than the Aegises Cores.
With his soul crushed by the absence of The Architect, Amalthus leaves and then falls from the World Tree, landing in....... part of the tree.
Amalthus sees himself in the same exact despair as when he lost his mother, but know the one's "who abandoned him" is Father..... the Architect
With all the despair and sadness, Amalthus returns to Indol and decides to awaken one of the 2 core crystals he took from God.
we all know the rest.
This makes so much sense NOW after the XC3 announcement
This is the best ending in any piece of media in my recent memory.
Agreed, and I been playing games a LONG time. It was beautiful
@@pelicancrayon2523 ah! I see you’re a man of culture as well!
17:17
Over a year later, and I just realized that the cymbal crash in the music is perfectly timed to the jump of the engine starting up. I just love how much care was put into making the music and visuals sync up for such a powerful moment.
Little details that add so much
Oh thank god I thought best girl died
Evan Moss nah nia is best gurll
Nia didn't die
But Nia didn't even come close to dying.
Nah not with Brigid there to protect her
So, like, do you actually mean best girl, or do you mean best waifu?
And here we are, on the cusp of Xenoblade 3, many of us hoping the same thing.
i like to think at the end she goes "'aRe yOu mY NeW dRiVeR?" LMAO
It could either end with her saying she's joking
Think you could take me?!
@@ps4pro668 HAHAHAHAH
I legit cried at the ending. I get so attached to the characters that it feels like a farewell when I reach the end.
After their revival, Pyra/Mythra found a Smash invitation while they were sleeping and disappeared without a trace.
Hell yeah that was a hint and Rex was not invited :D
I just beat the game……as the credits rolled my mom asked if I beat it and if I liked it…..then the vocals REALLY kicked in…..then the post credit scene…..I’m going to cry
I still have post game depression a year and a half later.
Those 50 hours went by so quick! They finally made it to elysium. The ending was surreal, awesome game!
mett4cool100 Jesus Christ speedy bitch I finished at 104 hours
It took me about 120 hours to get to the end lol
Why even buy this game if you’re just gonna rush through it. 50 hours is absolutely nothing
I took 250 hours and still had stuff I hadn’t finished
mett4cool100 50 hrs wtf were you doing? Just running from objective to objective
50 hours? How? I just finished mine a while ago and it took 115 hours. Bet you never do those side quest and getting lost in random place.
Best ending ever!
Assuming you've played through this awesome game.
You'll be surprised of such masterpiece and after that you'll return here to view the final act of Xeno2 and you'll appreciate even more!
I don't think rex is shulks other self
Bokz its an alternate dimension...but I mean...nia would be Melia...half human tsundere ...high inquisitor = Sharla, motherly , suspicious at first. Riki= nopon period. Reyn= Zeke badass and goofy...and I mean fiora is half machine...so rex and mythra/ pyrha = Shulk and Fiora/ Meyneth. Though Meyneth does die.
Vayos ReaperoftheVoid I mean yeah they may have similar character traits and roles in the story but I don't think that's enough go on to say they are alternate versions of each other
Bokz sometimes that's all you need ...look at Cloud Atlas.
Vayos ReaperoftheVoid true sometimes that is all you need but I don't know anything about cloud atlas
This ending is too much for my mental state
