  • Hole Saws- Drill Hog - Milwaukee Hole Dozer - Lennox
In this video we are going to talk about 2 1/8” hole saws which are a staple in the locksmith world. I primarily have always used Milwaukee or Lennox (typically I have both on jobs and use different ones depending on what I’m cutting) but after we checked out the 1” Step Bit I was curious on how well the hole saws (and spade bits) would hold up so I added it to the mix of bits I carry on site
Lets see how I liked the Drill Hog after about 20 doors

07:37 I lost track of what I was talking about while fidgeting with the set screw
Basically, you don’t ever full send a bit all the way through anything you care about :)
Also yes, you can use Milwaukee & Lennox Pilot bits in the Drill Hog

Wym about full send? Like start slow?

    • @selock
      @selock  4 месяца назад +3

@@Mm56677 don’t go all the way through, drill 3/4” of the way until the 1/4 pot tip pokes out then go to the other side and use that hole for the remainder

I don’t think they make holesaws with locksmiths in mind. They are made primarily for electricians and plumbers. Many installers just use spade bits. I use Forstners and a jig for wood. The holesaws are for steel, and I usually predrill all the way through with a pilot to make sure I stay level, then hit both sides with the holesaw - the holesaw clears the metal chips better this way.

I told you there was a package coming your way...
When I placed an order for some items, and asked about some others.... they wanted to send me some sample stuff.... I suggested since you featured their 1" Step drill for lock edge-bore enlargement, that they might send you some swag as well. What arrived was way better than a hat and t short..... drill gauge and a set of carbide drill in an index, same as you got.

I want to see a fort made of those hole peices! Or maybe a new live game where we number them and roll/race them!
    Great vid, and great review!

Good video. I just finished installing a few Trilogy T2's on metal doors. I was surprised that the pre dilled 2 1/8 were slightly out of alignment. 1" Lenox for the cable hole and 3/8 Crappy Tire bit for the rest.

Honestly I use my hole saws a lot too. I have been rocking the same 4 Spyder hole saws with their quick change arbor. I have (2) of their Wood "fast cutting" in 2 1/8" and 1 1/2" and (2) of their Bi-metal in the same sizes.. They have been still rocking it for about 2 years now.

I love those Bosch Nail-Strike bits, they don't have the tips on the outer edge, but the center of the hole is evident and if you pull back before a full send you can tell if you're properly located or not.

Switched out all my slotted set screws that hold the pilot bits to stainless allen. The hole dozers work well and able to get the wood and metal plugs out. My 1" hole saw is on a mandrel that when holding the hole saw and reversing it it screws the plug out.

I saw you mention that 1" step bit in a previous video and couldn't find the video again by the time I was ready to order one. Ended up ordering an Irwin #20 9/16" to 1". Look forward to trying it out.😊

I've mostly settled on using the Diablo bits for hole saws, but I'll have to check out drill hog. Love the Lockforce merch by the way 😎👍

Well myself, I use a company called blue mole and I’ve used them for years. I use them for cutting steel and they do very well. Of course you can overheat the bit if you don’t take it easy on any bit when you’re cutting through steel or use lubrication but if you cut slow and give it a chance to cut, it does pretty good And I use them also for wood as well. This is my opinion on the situation with the drillbits.

Hey Jason I see some of cut outs you have you drill from both sides ,that's the proper way ,as soon as the drill pops through you drill from the other side it keeps it center straight through...even though you can drill straight threw lot of guys can't 🌴😎

I guess, in a way, the shorter bit stops people from doing it the “bad way” 🤷‍♂️
