    I am looking forward to how the images are viewed - whether there will be a gallery app (ideally not or a cut-down version that lets you view a photo for x seconds), or a desktop mode (like Light Phone 2?), or nothing at all, just a download to pc.
    I also am keen to hear whether the scroll makes a tactile noise (and its feel, though that cannot be experienced via a video!)

      Well Mate I am Team Light all the way I have been using the lp2 for better, I think than two years now. I would ask you to consider the philosophy of diminishing cost. The light co. means for this to be used for years. so if you buy it and keep/maintain it for say 7 years that is 114 dollars per year. As opposed to say an I phone, or android every one and a half, to two years at 1000-1600. Seems kind of like a bit of financial sense to me. Anti planned obsolescence. But you do what you think it right for you. Cheers. and Walk tall, speak strait, embrace truth.

    • @TinTownKing
      @TinTownKing Месяц назад +2

      @@nndczkv but this has just one extra 1 feature - a camera. I guess I was perplexed by your comment - I haven't seen any marketing from them that suggests the point of the camera phone that they're releasing is not to use the camera. More that they want using the camera to be a more deliberate act, and added a dedicated shutter button as part of this.
      Maybe you mean that Light have diverged from the original ideas for their phones, and it's true! They're evolving the idea for what their products can be, whilst remaining disconnected. Either way, the LP2 will still be available for those that don't want a camera.

    • @nndczkv
      @nndczkv Месяц назад

      @@TinTownKing Ok, this is gonna be a long one. I wouldn't agree that they're evolving it because it just seems they've caved in under pressure and went with the trend. Classic FOMO. Dedicated button? Just... why? And I love keyboard phones btw. A distraction free phone implies no camera, especially when your USP is "distraction free". Besides, for a more deliberate act, you should probably have a better camera no? Seeing how you'd want to capture the details. From a product development side and their entire brand strategy this simply makes no sense whatsoever, total conflict of concepts. People will inevitably bitch about the poor cam quality. And I'm saying that as someone who deals with high level strategy. This is a panic move. Some focus group tested positive for being influencers of minimalism and told them they need tools to make more pumpkin latte selfies while they're reading books in nature. Before you know it there's a dedicated button, other pretentious crap like Podcasts and Notes because you want to be so mindful as you're not able to perform other basic functions. I mean listen to this dreck: "At its core, the Light Phone III is a simple phone with a camera and some optional tools available. All of our tools are built around intentional use." And from a UX/UI standpoint, the list menu really doesn't do well (proven), it's just there to convince you you're a minimalist. I could go on and on but I've already droned on enough. They shit the bed and I foresee this company ending in a few years.

    • @greenweevil2021
      @greenweevil2021 Месяц назад +2

      @@LauraMalvoyante The misunderstanding is easily cleared up when you realize that a 1920x1080 image is only ~2MP. Colour, detail, dynamic range, low light performance... these things are way more important than the resolution of the images. Hitting 50MP only means a bigger file and wasted storage space, because we all know that it will not take advantage of even half of that resolution. Zoom in a bit and I'm sure it will look like a finger painting like most non professional cameras.
      It's cheaper to get a better image at 16MP than the likely inferior high MP camera made to hit a technical specification that won't even make use of the extra resolution and will come at the cost of image quality. 8k is like 33MP or something... does anybody really want a >8k selfie anyways?

      @@sworatex1683 Most phones don’t have a week battery life. You’re trading that for a normal day battery life, a larger OLED screen which will make texting and the other minimal functions more usable and streamlines the user interface, no lag, a camera which is useful for daily tasks and fun. I think the upgrades are worth the compromise. We all already manage with daily battery life anyway.
