My sales pitch has always been. "I had an idea to start a company for years, never did. Bought a lightphone, started the company within two weeks" But honestly. That is not important. What is important is that i feel more connected with my friends now, then ever. So many people ask me, what about parties and social gatherings, you need (insert social media)...! NO... No you don't. The only social interacts the light phone has made me miss out on. Are the social interactions where people thought of my pressence as an afterthought. Every invite, message or call is someone actually engaging with me. Every single relation in my life has become more meaningful, not less.
1 thing you start notice after a week or so about using the Light Phone is that really make you have more focus to real life. (at least this was my exp on LPII, which have e.ink display)
The only 3 things I would miss: 1. Music - one app for offline and online services as Spotify, Deezer and Tidal. 2. Messages - SMS, Whatsapp, Telegram, Signal, Messanger in one. 3. Payments … Then this phone would replace my iPhone for daily use.
Love my light phone 2 but I cancelled my Light phone 3 order. Ultimately I prefer e-ink screen. The Mudita Kompakt is the phone I am backing it has a e-ink screen that is FAST, love the light phone team and will miss using my LP2 but I am excited moving onto the Mudita Kompakt
I have pre-ordered the LPIII and I'm both nervous and excited. ❤ one question, will I have the ability to download and transfer Audible books? Thanks ✨️
Almost every car charging station in Finland requires an app. Parking is also very difficult without a parking app. For those reasons only I'm required to use a smart phone. Which is sad, tbh.
I really want to give this a go. I had the light phone 2 (sadly stolen) and as much as I liked the design and lack social media etc, I found the unresponsive screen a nightmare to use. As much as I’d like to give the brand another try I am rather hesitant.
LPIII is coming out soon with OLED and improved GPS navigation. I actually liked the slowness of the e-ink screen, my only problem was the broken navigation, which was understandable due to the hardware not originally designed for it. I am excited for LPIII.
It will be a world apart from the LP2, worry not. I've had a LP since they first came out...the 1 & 2 and yes, I 100% agree with you on the ink reader screen. While it does promote 'quiet', it's one of the most annoying contraptions I have ever used. It won't be this way with the 3...Fear not young and go into yonder wood and be a man! : )
I agree with all the points and understand the manufacturing process behind the device, but it’s impossible to sell the phone for your friends at the same price of an iPhone 😢
I really want to hop into this... however what do you do when you have apps that you have to have on your phone for work or homeschool? Please give me all the ideas and help. Thank you!
Unfortunately, this means having two phones. But a lot of people do have two phones because their job. You'll learn to balance both of them in a manner that is healthier for you in the long run.
I use the light phone 2, I have kept my smartphone. Sometimes I need it for the sake of taking a picture of something. Most of the time I don't use it however.
No. To start with i had it in a drawer. Told myself it was for sending money to firends, showing concert tickets, etc. I forgot all about that old dusty thing so. To such an extend that when i moved, i was Shocked to find it. All those small things where you think a smartphone is Necessary, it is only convenient.
I have an old LP1 and a 2 as well...and I also have an iPhone and always have. But, it stays in my office as one of the cameras for my other (YT) channel. I absolutely LOVE how small the LP is and how easy it is to use. The ink reader display I am quite happy is going AwAy...which is a big yAy from me. I have no idea why I'm capitalizing A's. : ) Anyhow, I've always been one to carry around a camera (film) as I carry a small (Saddleback Leather Inc) leather backpack with me. Or 'man-purse' as my wife teases. Yes, I carry a purse...because I'm a fancy boy.
I really want this so much but one of the ways that I disconnect is with podcast or music. I need Spotify or Downcast. Would love to do a hands on review.
I also told myself that I NEEDED Spotify. But do you truly need it? Light phone has the ability to play playlists and podcasts. Any music discovery that we need we could intentionally sit down to do at a desktop computer. I totally get the need to disconnect. To me, the light phone is able to do that! You just might need to adjust some things and come to terms with maybe having less accessibility to the world of music at any given moment
The Light Phone has a great podcast tool, and you can download music to it like an old-fashioned MP3 player. I thought I needed Spotify too, but I've been using a Light Phone II for four years and haven't looked back.
just download the music and podcasts and upload them to your lightphone. The time you waste on doing this is even smaller than wasting your time scrolling through instagram like a braindead
Love the concept. So do you do your banking on your laptop? How do you do travel? Download gate passes at the airport? I guess you just have to adopt new practices, not unlike we used to before smart phones. The idea of losing the notifications, distractions…very appealing.
@@JohnPatrickWeiss I travel with a Light Phone regularly and it's easier than it sounds. I check in at the kisok with my debit card and use paper boarding passes. If there's a gate change, I get a text on my Light Phone.
These were all just excerpts from conversations with users, we asked questions like "what would you say to someone on the fence?" or "do you ever see yourself going back to a smartphone?" . These were recorded remotely over video chats
haha love that x1 of the folks recording their testimonial is holding thier smart phone with their left hand while recording the ad. Come onnnnnnnnn......

I'm so excited and eagerly waiting for the LP3 to try my hands on it. 😊

Sure, via the music tool, LP3 also has a podcast tool, which is my favorite
i like the light phone. it works for sure

Waiting for LP3

I'm hoping the Light Phone III will fix the lag problem. It has 6GB of RAM rather than 1.

you could use an iPad/iPad mini or a PC/Mac.
man at 0:28 secs seems cool! bro has 3 English language dictionaries! listen to him!
Is it sell in Turkey ? Plz 🙏
Do you still keep your smartphone aside (aka. Do you have two phones?)

How do you confirm payments for online purchases without a banking app?
Laptop
I would get SMS messages when I had a lp2

I use my laptop for all banking needs, email, and other things that the Light Phone does not do.
damn deleting comments
I just don’t like the third guy who had to keep reading off of something. OK just be yourself. You don’t have to read scripts.

Throw away your slave phone.
The Asian girl was like the only one who was normal
Normal is subjective 😊
