If your car overheats in this video we will explain the top reasons that can cause a car to overheat. It is very important not to overheat your car because overheating can destroy your engine, cylinder head, head gasket and more. Car can overheat by something simple as bad radiator fan relay or fuse, stuck thermostat, faulty coolant temperature sensor, low coolant level. If you suspect that your car is about to overheat fix the problem asap before you end up needing new engine. In this video we will explain the top 7 reasons why car overheats based on our experience at the garage. Car overheating is a very common problem but not an easy one to diagnose. First always make sure that the coolant level is appropriate ( never open radiator cap when engine is hot). Hopefully this video will help you fix your overheating problem.

What if you already replaced the water pump, thermostat, coolant temperature sensor, and radiator and STILL overheating? Help
1. Check coolant level
2. Bleed Coolant System
3. Bad thermostat
4. Bent Radiator Cap
5. Radiator Fan not working
6. Bad water pump (leaking, broken fan, pump not turning)
7. Bad head gasket
8. Cracked Cylinder/Engine Block

@@webthing8028 for 7.... the coolant drains out to the reservoir most often and car overheats, thats a pretty much sign of bad head gasket, in the worst case the oil enters on coolant passages and they get mixed out making substance like coffe latte color 😀.....that a big failure for the head gasket.....8 - cracked cylinder head or engine block has a lot of symptoms.....probably the engine won't work in the first place.....or got the same as a blown head gasket symptoms....
When I drive it doesn't run hot but when I'm stuck in traffic my car run hot. What may be the problem?

Do you have a video replacing the water pump?
If my return radiator hose is higher than the return port can that also cause overheating cause most of the things you have mentioned I have checked and the hose is the only thing that can be left
Sometimes over heating has nothing to do with no water or leaking or clogged radiator or fan not moving or water pump break down..wrong valves clearance or no lubricant in the engine.etc..They sometimes yes will cause overheating but not always the cause.Overheating also caused by bad transmission filter and its oil...causing transmission overheat and cause engine too will overheat...So just look if that can be the real problem.Overheating transmission will cause engine over heated.Change the transmission oil and filter.
I have 22 sorento that's running hot, but kia has had it for 2 months and still haven't fixed it.

Hi. I live in tropical country. I have sometime (not always) problem with overheating of engine when in traffic or in stand still. This happen like around 10 time in a year.
Some information as follows:
- the car is Isuzu Alterra diesel engine with clutch fan
- the radiator cap is ok
- radiator unit is new (i use the original radiator)
- radiator level is ok.
- no radiator leak. I never top off the radiator fluid.
- i use fully coolant fluid
- no plastic blocking the front of the radiator
- air condition fan unit is working (it switch on and off)
- when no engine over heat, the air con give cool air
- air con evaporator unit is clean (new cabin filter)
- clutch fan seem to work because i check the RPM (with non contact rpm tester/tachometer). The tachometer RPM at tester unit show same as the RPM at the car Gauge tachometer. Clutch fan is not easy to rotate when engine is at operating temperature. Clutch fan spin more freely when engine temp is cool.
When engine overheat, the aircon blow hot air as well
One time, when engine overheat, i switch OFF the air-con unit, slowly the engine temperature go down to normal engine temperature.
May i ask for your recommendation why my car sometime overheat when in traffic.
Bad relay to the fan or failing fan. I would check the relay and relay pins (fuse box). Cars only overheat when parked if the fans are not working.
air flow thru radiator is too little at slower speeds. An aux electric fan mount in front of your radiator could help. Make sure your polarity is correct, so that the air flow is pushing air into the radiator, not away.

I saw your question - Without a thermostat your engine doesn't cool down right, just keeps heating. If your fans are working you may have a chance or if it's winter, but the summer could get you. I had a Datsun B-210 that I owned for about two years & in the summer it overheated. Thinking it was the thermostat, I opened it up & there wasn't one ! Put one in & instant fix. It's best if you have the thermostat & they are cheap.
