    I really struggle to feel this in my back, it seems rto be more in my arms, like my tri's. I've always had really weak back muscles.

      Try to think of you hands an only hooks. It sounds like you may be gripping the handles to hard. Loosely hold them and focus on pulling with the elbows leading back and down against the side of your body
