- When you have a new RC truck in your fleet, it’s only a matter of time before you start tinkering with it. One of the latest additions to the Holmes Hobby fleet is the Element RC Enduro. This truck is pretty impressive out of the box. But what is even more impressive is that it comes with option parts for tuning right from the factory. What makes this truck stand out is it’s 6% overdrive right out of the box. BUT Element RC also includes gears to increase the overdrive to 12% (just rounding things up here). In this video, John, the man behind Holmes Hobbies digs into the Enduro transmission and shows you how to install the optional overdrive gear set.

A tootsie pop reference AND a killer calculator watch?! Man, you're so old school it makes me feel young!!
Dig the humor; we all need it when playing with, er, "working on" scale trucks.
John is like the Ron Burgundy of rc lol guy is hilarious 😅
This has been my comp truck for the lasts 2 years I have many trucks to choose from! But the Trailwalker was a easy platform to shorten the body!!! Plus pushing the truck 540 5 slot expert. Hobby wing 1080 makes a perfect Crawler package
Thank you I had the 27 in, I'm glad I caught the video now I have it Right
Eight never broke my M I P 's, I've had since 2013 !! Appreciate you sharing this video I dig this stuff
Dude, love the commentary. Thanks for the great video. It has helped me a lot install the OD in my Enduro
Glad it helped!
I see you watched Sesame Street......glad to see you back John ...great job ..I like the aluminum mats....
I thought I was the only person that still did the Tootsie Roll Pop Commercial
I don't care what people call it, it's mine and I love it. Yeah again appreciate you sharing
I really enjoyed listening bro! Cool!
I love the element rc crawler
You’re like the Bob Ross of RC building. Lol light commentary during your build
Xaxaxaxaxa fuuuulll yeea man,i was wondering who reminds me,😂😂😂 a little gear should probably lives there😂😂
Yes literally right now on the element doing it step by step
I bought this trans to put in my Ascender. When I finally get around to it... Too busy driving my Bomber with your 540L motor on 3s and MMX. 4s next? More broken parts to come!
I don't know where baby's come from I'll ask MY 12 kids lol
I like the JIS B 4633 type phillips head...
I own vanquish full tool kit metric and standard but that’s the only one I broke but bent the 2.0
You crack me up
Love watching your vid’s
This video cracks me up
Awesome video. Can't wait to see what it does.
I mainly use M I P's but I've bought the vanquish set, yeah that 1.5 bro the first one bought a second one and broke it, i'll stick to my M I P 's I like to grip of the handles better
Soon as you said, “one!” I knew you were doing the Tootsie Pop owl. I always count things like that and nobody knows what the fuck I’m doing.
I will, on occasion, also slip into the voice of The Count whilst enumerating. HA HA HAAAAA!
Love the videos Mr. Holmes. Always informative thank you for your time! As a side note, what product of yours would you compare to the mamba X esc? Seems I have been having some problems with start up with the mamba as well as the sidewinder. I would love to support your company and would love to test some of your esc’s. I am running a brawler, (bash/crawler) style truck, trx4 with very high speed. I love the speed however I would also like to get more low end control. Thank you John for all that you do fo us consumers. Bangarang!
His brushless ESC. He only has 2
The BLE is the Holmes Brushless ESC, but it's pretty much out of stock at this point, and end of life also.
They are now recommending the Mamba X for sensored brushless.
We don't currently have a brushless ESC, but working on it. The BLE was our last one, but the hardware was getting very outdated and we couldn't get further software work done through Castle.
Good one Count John!! 😜😂
Thanks for your good instruction with great humor!!! You've really helped me, with a GOOD closeup look in the Transmission.
I can tell that you're an old school RC'er like me. I started in 1984, and Raced Buggies with Team Associated... So I'm well aware of the original 6 gear and the Stealth 3 gear. 😉
Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Careful John , looks like that drill may be on the juice!
hahaha!
Can you put the default 6% to the back and the 12 to the front are only change out the front
I would think that would negate the effect, and you'd end up with only a 6% difference.
No the idlers gears are driven by the NOT changed.
Stock overdrive for me good for the time being! Love the EnDuro SenDero.. Going to see this truck grow in the future!! Traxxas Trx4! Has a good competitor . Finally. I HAVE the trx4 sport👊. The EnDuro blows my mind NC ❤ MOUNTAINS back yard RC.AND MORE. 🖒🖒🖒🖒🤔🏞
"We're scissoring" John Holmes
I'm glad someone caught that
With the motor facing forward what would the motor rotation be? I'm looking to pick up a CrawlMaster Pro and would prefer to get the correct rotation version vs. switching the leads. Also will a 550 CrawlMaster Pro fit in the forward orientation? Thanks
its resin gears ,impossible to melt down at any heat ;)(so i ve heard)
Dumb question alert!!
What effect does this process result in?
Thanks!
The front goes faster. This tightens steering radius, sucks the rig to the rocks, and can increase traction.
@@HolmesHobbies ...thanks!
I broke my 1.5 on a really poorly treated mip driveshaft set ghat was on a scx10ii
You can't have been impregnated while scissoring they don't go together, however your gears may be impregnated while inserting into their housings.
Hahaha I love how you troll for comments. “I’ll just say something I know as if I don’t know so folks run to the comments to inform me.”
I am sometimes truly uninformed or can't remember 😆 I can never seem to remember what sway bars are called when the camera is rolling.
@@HolmesHobbies 🤣 I 100% understand forgetting but sometimes…..lol
Would your PULLER PRO BL 540 STANDARD 2200kv be a good fit and is your BR-XL both brushless and brushed?
BRXL is brushed only. The 2200 puller stubby or standard paired with a mamba X would be a really great fit for this vehicle too.
@@HolmesHobbies I appreciate the feedback I think this will the newest addition to my collection, I hope to see you at the RC4WD West Coast Scale Challenge!
The new element truck is already out
Through the magic of the internet, it took a few weeks to get this edited and uploaded. Pretty sure it was released just a few days after I shot this.
2.5 is my fav..u can go full torque without stripping..😁 MIPs and Tekno drivers 👍🏻
Tootsie Pop Owl is a good guess if you never watched Sesame Street. John is doing the "Count" from Sesame Street. The Count is a Muppet vampire, like Count Dracula, that lives only to count numbers. Well.... and probably drink blood once in a while, you know, so he can live, and keep counting numbers.
Blaa Ha Ha Ha Haaaa !
I respectfully disagree, good Sir. Being familiar with both the owl and The Count I can see how one could confuse the two. The giveaway is in how he says the number two, "ta-hoo" (the owl) vs The Count's forceful "TOOH!".
Edit: Just as I was posting my comment, John did indeed mimic The Count as he reassembles the transmission at the end of the video. My apologies, good Sir!
I’m attempting this.. And nothing but problems…. I’d suggest drilling out the holes on the plastic gear.. Stripping-out the screws…. 🤬🤬🤬🤬
Tiny trucks
John , John, John !
That is an RTR, not a kit.
IF it was a kit that OD gear would be machined. Carry on !
I have a hard time not calling all of them kits.
Thanks, was lazy and didn't want to read the manual.
I thought horses were made from glue
I built the whole truck without any power driver..the plastic is so soft even the end rods can be turned by hand..nothing compared to Tekno ones..😁..power driver melts plastic..
sure did melt some plastic...
😬😁🙏🏻
Do you hide extra motors or maybe some extra brushes in your beard?
sometimes...
You really should stop calling these rc cars toys please.
