Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford are outstanding musicians and composers. What a wonderful bunch of excellent songs they have gifted to all of us through more than four decades.
It would be great if music shows like this would REPLACE the reality TV shows era! I can watch these episodes over and over. Can you say that about the reality shows with cast bad behaviors and drama? Bring it on back Daryl!!
in my opinion Glenn Tilbrook is one of the most underrated guitarists.
Just saw Squeeze in concert a month ago in Denver and they were fabulous. I was exhausted from all the dancing I did up front!! Great to see Live from Daryl's House back again...Love it!!
Squeeze Never had a bad song. Tillbrook is an elite songwriter with great melodies and topnotch lyrics
The lyrics were by Chris Difford. The other guy in Squeeze. Difford and Tilbrook are one of the truly great songwriting parterships

The saxophone part is what I've always really liked about this song.
I believe in the original recording, the sax is synthesized. This is much better, IMHO.

I saw Squeeze a couple of weeks ago with The English Beat and it seriously was one of the best, most fun concerts. Glenn's voice was on point and the rest of the band were brilliant. Now, I can't stop listening to their songs - many of which I had forgotten about. Looking forward to seeing them again!
I love Daryl Hall. More than life itself. But, for a rate time such as this, he didn't do his homework. He's late a few times when it's his time to chime in and sing.
Agreed. He really botched his vocals and his range is just not there anymore. The band did a fantastic job given the complexity of the song but Daryl really disappointed me on this one as well as “Tempted” - same issue
I love early Squeeze but this song always reminded me of the B-52s “Love Shack.” Not one I would have played at Daryl’s House. Another Nail from my Heart or Pulling Mussels would have been incredible to hear!

This is really enjoyable. A slightly different vibe and feel compared to when Squeeze plays it - more of a vintage soul/Motown interpretation - but this band does justice to the song in their own way.

I love Squeeze and I love LFDH, but this is the most underprepared I've ever seen Darryl. Glenn was nailing it, and the band were as tight as ever, but DH was just running through a lot of his vocal parts as if he'd never heard the songs before! I know he likes to put his own unique and brilliant signature these songs, but much of it sounded phoned in.
…or he didn’t know the melody when he stepped in to the lead vocals on the verses. He seemed to be rushing the lyrics without any sense of pitch or rhythm.
Agreed. There seemed to be a number of times in this season where DH seemed like he didn't do his homework.

Love Daryl's show but man, this was ROUGH. Hourglass is a rhythmically and lyrically demanding song that allows no mistakes and Daryl was never in the pocket. He miffed the lyrics and was off the beat multiple times but they just went on, which is fine because the spontaneous and not overrehearsed is part of the shows charm. I wonder though, do they ever do multiple takes if things go awry, or just the one take when they decide to 'go for it?' But, like I said, I LOVE this show .

Tilbrook remains entirely on his game and LFDH's band is as tight as hell. Daryl though? A couple of practice sessions would not have gone amiss.

I met Glen in 1984 in Boston at signing with Chris for their album. Glen was gracious, Chris was not. It shows on Chris' signature on my album.
Hall ruins the tunes when he starts singing...ugh. Tilbrook simply ageless and amazing!

Agreed Daryl did not do these songs justice vocally.
I agree with you completely in that sense, but at the same time that shows me they're keeping the show honest in the sense that you know, these aren't overhearsed scripted pieces. This is what happens when people jam together who don't spend a lot of time rehearsing and all that stuff. Would it have been better to see Daryl owning the vocals better and not coming in late? Totally. But does this show that The performances are honest? That it does.
