Squeeze totally went under my radar as a youngster. So underrated, and the back catalogue is banging, if you want a good singsong just get their old songs on your spotify.
oh my ive seen many videos of him doing this song and making that note even better live... check out the daytona mtv beach concert. or any squeeze live. hourglass.
Oh by far a great band of the 80's, one of my favs anyways..but to say better than the Beatles is slightly delusional. I would however like to understand how they're better than the Beatles i'm interested in your theory....no offence in saying "slightly delusional"

I remember at the time watching this, and when Terry said about watching Madonna and paying a lot of money for a seat andd they won't see her expression! Well they ave those massive screens for people that are way back in the stalls or up in the gods. Example-Duran Duran on their: Arena Tour in 1984.
The 'somebody' who came on immediately after this was Gary Glitter, if I remember rightly? All three of them squashed up on the sofa with Jools in the middle looking incredibly awkward.
Chris and Glenn are both intelligent, well-spoken men. Why did Wogan only choose to speak with Jools, who wasn't even a primary member of the band? Granted he is a talk-show host himself, but it seems dismissive of Difford and Tilbrook.
Exactly! Hard to believe shows wasted our time with canned performances back then. On the other hand, as a kid, I usually thought they were actually playing.
@@michaelbrosnan3016 I was being facetious. Squeeze is actually my favorite band of all time. Argybargy was constantly spinning on my turn table and was the license plate on my car for several years until recently. Not bragging but to answer your question honestly, I've seen them perform live so many times since as far back as 1979 that I've lost count. Several venues in the US and the UK. I was at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow when Chris jumped on stage to perform with Glenn (and The Fluffer's) for the first time in years after they'd split. It was an emotional scene on stage and in the audience. I couldn't believe I was there to see it. That was around 2004 if I remember correctly. And I agree with you ...they sound better now than they ever have.
Such a talented underrated band......
No one has ever underrated Squeeze. I've no idea why you'd say that.
@@garrybaldy327 Pillocks always say that.
You got that right? Unbelievable underrated
Fantastic group. I have only recently rediscovered this gem of a song and I can only say this in one word or two. Absolutely Wonderful.

Squeeze is an amazing band. Cant believe that I love this song but never knew or remembered that it is by squeeze.
The album Babylon and On is an absolute belter, filled with cracking tracks
I loved this band way back when.
Tilbrook Difford, superb songwriting combo!
1987???!!!! Where did my life go? 😮😮😮😮
Up the junction
Glass Spider was my first Bowie concert but sadly Squeeze weren't on www.stevepafford.com/squeezehourglass/
that is flat out the best tenor sax patch i have ever heard on a dx-7.
tilbrook is a realy good singer and a realy good guitar player. not many of those
Just fabulous.
Hall of Fame worthy… they’re phenomenal
I got Cradle to the Grave (2015) recently and it’s very very good
This is weird cos I was two at the time, but they look super handsome here.
I fancied Glenn at the tender age of 2/3 in 1979😘.
Obviously I didn't fancy them back then!
@@annierose1269 I started young🤣
Difford .... so smooth
2.34 I love the way he prolongs this note but I can't find a clip of him doing live.

Wonderful.
Glenn Tilbrook could pass for Anthony Michael Halls brother
Thanks for saying that! I have thought of this for years!
Love jools

I agree. To me it's like inviting Harrison over for an interview while dismissing Lennon and McCartney.
Maybe it was because Difford and Tilbrook don't get on
no i think its because jools can just carry himself better with an off the cuff interview.
❤💛💚💙💜
I think Kenny Everett modelled Cupid Stunt on that woman.
6:30 I thought Terry called Jules a mean penis!
I thought Jools had left the band by this point?
he did but he came back for a couple of albums
Slimmey joolkes
Can anyone tell me who is on bass here?
Keith Wilkinson
Lip sync well done....Next time fake the sax too.

Thankfully, we have a great "live" performance of "Hourglass" on 1987's "Late Night with David Letterman."
